Sometimes it’s nice to hear right from the head coach, rather than Joe’s quotes and spin on what the Buccaneers’ exalted leader is saying.
Lovie Smith was talking today, though he sure didn’t want to get into specifics on Drew Brees.

Hopefully we get Foster back because Fletcher is not getting it done. He actually played decent vs the falcons but vs the steelers it was a train wreck.( or is it a love train wreck? thanks 87 lol)

I watched the press conference and I have to say that this coach just does not get it. He needs to understand that when he stands up in front of the camera and act’s like the aragant a** that he is. He is showcasing to the fan base what kind of person he is.
I’m not a fan of this coach at all !!

It’s a stretch to call him arrogant. I don’t know exactly where you’re getting that. Maybe you think you have a right to more information than he’s giving? Guess what, you’re not.

The blueprint for beating these guys was laid out last week: run the (crap) out of the ball and play an archaic cover-2 defense with mediocre personnel. We do this…good times ahead.

He sounded on edge in this presser. I don’t have a problem with that. I have a big ass problem with Lovie not naming Glennon the starter. That’s just plain stupid. If Lovie can’t admit that he may have misjudged Glennon aka started a career backup before him, then perhaps he is too arrogant. Like Marcellus said in Pulp Fiction “Eff pride, pride only hurts, it never helps”

Must be referring to the way he reacted to being asked about McCown. Look, the reporters are obviously trying to get him to slip up on revealing who the starting QB will be on Sunday, and Lovie is not biting, nor does he have to. He seemed to be annoyed by it, and who can blame him, with reporters constantly badgering him on the subject. They should have learned by now, those questions are a dead end. But, they’ll keep trying, and Lovie will keep knocking them down.
I would be shocked if Glennon was not the starting QB on Sunday though.

Lovie gets PO’ed when someone writes a story with unnamed sources. And yes, we will keep asking Lovie about injuries because that is our job.

I understand that Joe, but you and I both know Lovie will not reveal the starting QB if there is even the slightest bit of uncertainty regarding that position. It’s all apart of the chess game that coaches play with there opponents. Your opponent not knowing what QB they will be facing IS an advantage, and coaches will use whatever advantage they can to get a win. And I’m sure it must be frustrating for reporters too, I mean that kind of story is certainly newsworthy. But it is what it is, those kinds of juicy questions will always go unanswered now matter how bad the reporters, and fans I might add, want them answered.

And yes technically the subject was about an injury, But it’s about an injury that could possibly determine who the starting QB will be. Therefore its going to be vague at best.
I think that if McCown was completely healthy then Lovie would name a stater. At that point the ruse has run its course. imo of course.

Arrogant? …No …more like always keeping his guard up. The media has away of doing that to a coach. Especially when the media uses the famous “unnamed source” or the other famous “couple reports” while asking leading questions. That’s “arrogant” by these reporters, (who already know what his reaction will be), to go ahead, and ask those type of leading questions anyway, again, and again, knowing that Lovie will just go into defense mode, and become a little snarky.
Which now that I think of it, it may have been their plan all along.
Rile Lovie up, let him get snarky on camera so a certain gullible segment of the fan base would be sympathetic for the media, and voice their disdain for Lovie Smith. Undoubtedly it made an impression on GREG

Andrew…or maybe he just assumes that trotting Glennon out to the podium this week said all that needs to be said.
Then again…you know what happens when we assume.
I’m sure Lovie is smart enough to know that the Saints know Glennon is going to be the QB this week or there is at least an 85% shot. So I (I’m not Lovie thank God)would think the Saints are leaning heavily on going up against Glennon in the first place. No secrets here or questions to answer on the subject, but oh well. They have to ask.

Lovie is annoyed by the media, arroyo likes to engage and glennon well at least he knew to wear a suit to his post game PC. Listening to glennon on buc radio he says he emulated manning growing up, been compared to Matt Ryan since HS and spent three years w Russell Wilson at ncst. Can’t knock the kid for having goals.

I agree. Glennon is more than likely going to be the starting vs the saints, but then again there’s always that chance, and if so then Lovie is going to exploit it. It’s just part of being a good coach, just like asking those questions is part of being a good reporter. And therein lies the standoff. But hey, look at the bright side all the media members in Tampa, you could be interviewing Bill Belichick ! At that point, you might as well start asking questions to a nearby wall. I mean that guy gives you absolutely nothing!

Will the Bears fans stop coming here and masquerading as Bucs fans. The media there put out that Lovie was arrogant when they got tired of him not giving them what they wanted. But I guess the hate will go on with or without my comment. it must really hurt certain Bears fans that you guys wanted him out so bad and now your defense sucks and Cutler still blows. well, its really gonna hurt when the Bucs start contending for playoffs/superbowls and the Bears will have fired emery/trestman while the Bears become the 4th best team in their division.

Every coach talks like that, even your beloved T. Dungy. Its a new day and time people, there won’t be anymore Ditka, Gruden, the head coach for the steelers before Tomlin, pressers anymore
