Lovie Doesn’t Buy Fatigue
October 7th, 2014Joe saw it from the top of the Superdome Sunday. Joe also guesses Bucs fans saw it on TV.
In the final minutes of the loss to the Saints, the Bucs’ defense was simply gassed. Nothing left in the tank. Drained.
Lovie Smith isn’t buying it. Speaking yesterday with the Tampa Bay pen and mic club, Lovie dismissed fatigue as a reason the Bucs couldn’t protect an 11-point lead, couldn’t stop the Saints and lost, notes Woody Cummings of the Tampa Tribune.
The Bucs defense was on the field for 86 plays during Sunday’s loss to the Saints, but Smith doesn’t want anyone using fatigue as an excuse for the team’s failure to hold onto an 11-point fourth-quarter lead.
“I think fatigue is a (factor with) everybody when you play that many plays,’’ Smith said. “But you could have done something about that. (We had) penalties on third down, in critical situations where we were getting off the field, so you have to have smart play, which we didn’t always.’’
There you go. The Bucs had chances to get off the field and save themselves, but did not.
Of course, one could argue that the Bucs were so drained, their heads may not have been sharp. That is certainly a fair thought.

The Saints offensive players had the ball 11 minutes longer than Lovie on the sidelines…..

no rushing attack, martin simply can not get the job done, in my opinion. I hope sims gets back soon and also eveans, then maybe we will see really how good glennon is with all his weapons. but probably not, lovie will go with his boy after the bye!!!!
October 7th, 2014 at 12:25 pm
What the hell are they gassed for? You only play maybe 11-15 minutes of real football. The rest is standing around waiting to play.
October 7th, 2014 at 12:34 pm
Lovie seems to latch onto one thing and think that means you can’t criticize all the other poor parts of play. We saw it with blaming the blocked field goals and dropped passes in weeks past.
Clearly Lovie doesn’t believe in fatigue, because he would have tried to extend the time at the end of regulation and have called a timeout or two on the opening drive of overtime.
Keep living in that fantasy world if you want, but news flash, you are a 1-4 loser right now pal.

You don’t stop the run all game and yours don’t work. And you expect what to happen?
October 7th, 2014 at 1:02 pm
more excuses.
if he were to admit to the fatigue he would have to admit to his mistake about not calling timouts. this guy is a joke.
I mean he truly is an idiot that takes no responsibility. That being said, there’s someone in the WH thats the same way, yet he still has a lot of support form certain areas.
If the team is willing to but into his BS and sermons, and they get ready to play and gel, who the hell cares i guess.
but for me, I would be pissed if i was a player. thats just me. I am pissed as a fan, but this team needs continuity even if the guy is an idiot.

@Ike Turner The only joke is you and your idiotic posts! Lovie Smith knows more about football than you will EVER know! Please stop embarrassing yourself and this fan base….
October 7th, 2014 at 1:20 pm
one love…..the only embarrassment is you hanging from lovie jock strap.
wake up for i show you my pimp hand
October 7th, 2014 at 1:23 pm
Ike, hopefully you’re exposed for the POS you are by admin at this website. Veiled racism, is still racism.
Sorry Joe’s, and other buc fans, but his guy deserves to be called out.
October 7th, 2014 at 1:24 pm
Of course he’s not going to say that fatigue played a part of it, because its viewed as an excuse. But at what point does an excuse become a legitimate reason? Idk, but I do know that they were completely gassed on that final drive, whether Lovie wants to admit it or not.
October 7th, 2014 at 1:28 pm
Ike, you keepin it ral up in here; i gotcha back bra!
October 7th, 2014 at 2:01 pm
@Ike Turner Please… You and I both know the only thing your pimping is that keyboard in front of you. Don’t be mad because Lovie Smith owns you. Just admit it and move on like a real man…
October 7th, 2014 at 2:30 pm
i bets you gots lots of experience with real men onelove lol

This was fatigue at its best. You don’t earn a touchdown because of a penalty, because the refs don’t give it to u, however, u earn a touchdown as a result of poor tackling. It was obvious that the defense was fatigue a ala Panthers vs Bucs Monday nite game 2008 4th quarter Deangelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart stampede our NFL 4th ranked fatigued defense lead by future Hall of Famers Brooks and Barber. During that game the Panthers rushed for a total of 302 yards. On Sunday,Sean Payton and Brees knew we were fatigue, they knew what they were doing, n it worked. Watch the replay, our players looked like “casualties of war” lying on the ground after attempting to arm tackle the ball carrier.

Anybody comparing Smith and the Bucs to the mess in and created by the White House is out of their minds. The people in charge of the White House have taken a great nation and nearly brought it to its knees with horrible and unpopular policy decisions.
Lovie and the Bucs staff have taken a team that hasn’t been competitive for the last 3 seasons and has made every game (except one) close. We waited until week 9 or so last season to have a close game. That’s called “improvement” fellas.
October 7th, 2014 at 4:06 pm
Andrew:
Fatigue likely a factor. Those guys were clearly gassed.
October 7th, 2014 at 4:49 pm
As a fan since day ONE and long time ST holder….I Am Fatigued …The G’Boyz struck out again….w/ L&L…..if I were them I’d be putting it a radical plan ’cause the present is the past !

A “SEASON” is not lost after 3 games and if Glennon plays the rest of this season and its a loosing season then he is gone. The Bucs will need to win this division if Glennon is to remain the starter for that franchise. There is no way that Glennon remains the starter next season if he only improves by 10% from now, LOL. You Glennon fans better hope that the D and special teams play like they did in the Atlanta game all season. Because if they play like they did the other 3 games and get better and still loose then its over for Glennon. Somebody’s gonna take the fall and it won’t be the coaches/GM/rookies/oline/stars of the defense and that leaves only one guy, Glennon. Again, there’s an argument if the team plays like spit the rest of the season but if they improve and Glennon is not able to do enough to get the team over the hump then he’s gone. Believe That!
October 7th, 2014 at 5:31 pm
This was evident in the last TD. Look how many tackles were broken. Even the last guy didn’t try to tackle. He just threw his body at the running hoping it would go out of bounds? Fatigued……yes.

Let’s be serious. Ray rice, ike Turner and Chris Brown are the same ppl. Someone has a very sad life obviously he likes to create alter egos and agree with himself. And gets some type of sick satisfaction out of ppl that beat women. Weirdo
October 7th, 2014 at 7:15 pm
Knucknbuc I agree! I also thought it was funny how Chris brown came in swinging on Ike turner’s balls! Lol they must be real close lol
October 7th, 2014 at 10:55 pm
Did anyone notice the in last few seconds of regulation we were moving the ball and had time outs left. But no we run the clock out to overtime. At least try a dart to the sidelines or flat out bomb towards the end zone.
October 8th, 2014 at 12:26 am
Good point, Jason. If Lovie really believed Glennon is the future QB he would have let him take long shots at the end of the half.
