Glennon Talks Playoffs

October 15th, 2014

GlennonwideDon’t accuse Mike Glennon of being a leader who isn’t driven to get the Bucs to the playoffs.

In fact, Glennon was talking about the Tampa Bay’s playoff chances last night.

The pride of the Mike Glennon Mob, the Bucs’ starting quarterback (for now), spoke on the Buccaneers Radio Network about how the Bucs’ postseason dreams remain very much in play.

“Last year, the Panthers and Saints kind of ran away with it right away. But this year, with what our record is at, we’re still not far out,” Glennon said. “I mean, I think the Panthers are 3-2-1, the Saints are 2-3, and the Falcons are 2-4. It’s still right there. We play them all again. We have two of the three games at home. So it’s a long season ahead of us. We do need to turn it around quickly. As frustrating as it’s been, it’s still out there for us to go get.”

You tell’em, Mike.

Joe likes the attitude, though the Bucs’ odds are extraordinarily slim, especially when you factor in that they’re a bad football team with a defense on a rapid decline.

One thing is certain about the Bucs’ playoff hunt. They won’t lose this weekend.

Good for him….you can’t have a QB thinking its over for the year no matter what the odds. For that matter you can’t have a coach either. Realism is for fans & pundits. Players are paid to win and you can’t win if you give up.
Glennon may have some downsides but leadership, attitude and toughness aren’t among them.

    Big hill to climb

Love it! Finally a buc player that seems to give a sh¥t.

  4. bucco bruce Says:

love the attitude…optimist here too…an 8-2 finish might win the division…take care of home games and 3 of 5 on road 🙂

  5. Skyline Crew Says:

That thing they call a defense needs fixed first.

  6. flmike Says:

Lovie has announced another personnel move, he’s cut Eric Rhett…

  7. BamBamBuc Says:

When he can finally beat the blitz on a play or two, he might see defenses back off and cover instead of sending pressure to kill him. When he can beat the blitz a time or two, running backs might only face 7 in the box and have some success. Whe he starts beating the blitz, we might put together longer sustained drives, keeping our D off the field. But, like good QBs do, he’s gotta find a way to beat the blitz…

  8. INDYbucsfan Says:

I’m so excited for this Sunday!! No disappointment 🙂

  9. slowbucs813 Says:

@BamBamBuc hard to beat a blitz when your forced to take seven step drops

  10. Nybucsfan Says:

Never make the playoffs with the QB play of Glennon can’t start games 3-14 with a int

  11. Edgar Says:

Really these are people making millions of dollars based on US spending it. What is he supposed to say? How else do you explain coaches and players say “We’re getting better” as the record roll worse, the stats grow worse and nothing really promising happens. Yeah Glennon said it but how did he say it…like he had to or like he believed it?

  12. willie d Says:

Any truth to the rumor that Glennon wanted Eric Page back on the team and ultimately the 53 man gametime roster?

  13. Joseph Mamma Says:

We might give up more points than any team in the history of the NFL. Let that just sink in people. You know the situation is bad when your pining and reminiscing about the good old days of Raheem and Schaino.

  14. willie d Says:

Joe noted dropped passes from Jorvorskie Lane and Solomon Patton, and silky hands from Mike Evans and new practice squad member Eric Page.

  15. BamBamBuc Says:

Forced to take a 7 step drop? That may be the play called, but good qbs recognize the blitz and audible out of it to a blitz beating play. Are you saying that young Arroyo is dictatorial about the play called? He can’t audible like the Schiano regime? Good qbs beat the blitz to keep teams from blitzing and help their o-line.

  16. port richey george Says:

both glennon and/or mccown deserve better protection.
the bucs offensive linemen have been losing the battle in the trenches. maybe a new offensive line coach?

    I’m sorry.
    I have to do it….

PLAYOFFS?!! Don’t talk about PLAYOFFS!!!?? You kidding me? PLAYOFFS?!!

  19. buc4lyfe Says:

Delusional!!!! Perfect example of taking on the personality of the head coach. Only reason this team isn’t far out of the playoff picture is they have only played 6 games so far genius. Your team looks bad and unprepared and a bye week won’t fix that, you don’t get to talk about playoffs until you atleast can quarterback a .500 team. So embarrassing to be a buc fan, they do all their talking during the week and show nothing on game day. They are erasing our history, who other than Tampa fans remember our lone super bowl run? You have to make people remember

Joe, I appreciate your articles, but please stop with the whole Glennon MOB thing. You’re basically saying if we don’t hate the guy (like some), then we’re part of this mindless mob mentality, you and Duemig create this ridiculous notion that anybody who is pulling for him is blindly in love with his play, which is not true, and it’s way too easy to pick on his game.

Considering that he barely has a full season under his belt, never has worked in the off-season as the no.1 starter, so far 2 head coaches in 2 years, and so on. You even make fun of his arm strength by calling him The Cannon because Licht once acknowledged that he had a cannon of an arm, that left you with some instant material. Why does anyone who doesn’t DISLIKE the guy have to be a Glennon “mobster”? Now I know you’ll say you’ve given him credit, and you have, but it’s because he’s done some good (not great) things as our QB that can’t be denied. I think with this article, you’re just being passive aggressive by implying the kid is off his rocker by merely MENTIONING the word playoffs, especially after coming off such an embarrassing loss. The fact is I’ve seen stranger things happen in this league, if they are technically still alive, then I want my QB striving for that goal and not tanking it.

Look, Mike Glennon may not be our QB of the future, but to me, he’s shown enough good things to suggest he’s got some decent upside. Must we have to create this division of supporters (crazy mobsters) vs everyone else who’s against this young man? Still love what you do ( and Duemig too), I just wish we can like the guy without being patronized for it.

  21. DallasBuc Says:

PRGeorge- “maybe a new offensive line coach?”
How about better oline talent. These boys are getting creamed game in and game out…especially in the run game. They show up occasionally in the pass game except for that loser Anthony Collins. He is as horrible as Michael Johnson. The regime really screwed the pooch with the oline teardown/rebuild.

  22. Bucfever40 Says:

The things that help a QB the most are a good running game, which means decent o-line play (which is a joke so far), and a good defense (which has been a no-show all year), even those who despise Glennon have to acknowledge this. He’s getting murdered under center.

  23. Buccfan37 Says:

Glennon thinking there’s a chance to make the playoffs after a 1-5 start is comical. What is the team going to do to accomplish that, just turn the off switch on? It doesn’t make me hopeful taunting reality like that, so I won’t even entertain the possibility or the odds of that happening. Call me up from dreamland.

  24. BamBamBuc Says:

Teams stack the box to stop the run. If it’s a pass, they just bring those guys and rattle the QB. Beat the blitz and they back off, they back off and the run game works. Until Glennon can beat the blitz, neither the run or pass will open up. He has to see it, know the personnel, adjust the play to a blitz beater with the available personnel (WR screen, draw, RB screen, quick slant, etc). Nothing opens up until defenses fear Glennon, and they don’t.

  25. Ray Rice Says:

Aw $hit MG. The “P” word? No you didn’t just say that!!! Can we just string some wins together then talk about the “P” word. One thing I know for certain. MG is not going anywhere. No bye week for him. From what I’ve heard that guy lives at One Buc. Studies hard.

  26. Zam Says:

    what a dufus

  27. Brian Says:

Oooooohhhhh we have home games? Awesome…when was the last time we won one of those?

  28. Buc1987 Says:

    Playoffs? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7fjDS0jKiE

  29. phil Says:

I don’t think we will have to worry about the playoffs with Lovie as our coach. It was nice to see Joe Flacco win AFC offensive player of the week for throwing 5 TD passes in the first half. Maybe Teddy can win an award a week from Sunday.

  30. buctebow Says:

Playoffs…you mean on Madden right? I guess it is a good mindset for him and it certainly would make NFL history, but I am grounded in reality, not in Narnia.
