Anthony Collins Explains His Passion
October 8th, 2014Bucs left tackle Anthony Collins lives the emotional rollercoaster when it comes to football.
The man will cry in the locker room, curse in anger and disappointment coming off the field, scream with excitement after a victory.
And remember, it was Collins who had stern words for his Bucs the night before the Pittsburgh game.
Yesterday, Joe asked Collins about his forms of expression at One Buc Palace.
“I’m just emotional. I love to win. You know I hate to lose, in anything that I do,” Collins said. “It just makes me a competitor, from playing pool, to playing basketball, to playing on the football field. It’s my job. So when we lose at my job, man, that I love to come and do, man. It hurts. It really do hurt, man.”
It was fitting that during the interview, Collins had some old school, soulful, vocals-driven R&B playing at his locker.
The man is passionate. That doesn’t stop stupid penalties, but Joe would take Collins on his team any day.

The only thing that worries me about his passion is the constant talking to refs post play. I don’t know what he’s saying – and I hope that he’s not berating too much – but at times I feel like the refs have it out for this guy.
Please note: I love the passion during plays and have seen him as one of the first linemen down the field to congratulate a teammate after a big play/score.

Why do so many of these guys get a college education and then still go back to “hood-speak”?

I applaud his passion, but the guy must play a good game first and then do the talking. He allowed a sack, but to date his best outing has been against the Rams when he was left on an island against Robert Quinn. In other games he allowed far inferior talent to be a factor against our offense.
Same goes for Mankins. He clearly shows off his All-Pro intellect in the way he finishes off some plays. But he has been getting pushed around like a scrub at times and that sack he allowed for a safety was too grave an error for someone with so much experience. Omameh I can see doing it, but Logan effing Mankins? Come on Man!

@gatrbuc17: It is because they are rarely demanded to change their ways if they are athletes. Anyways, the educated posters on this site aren’t much better. I often see “should of” instead of “should have”, come on man!

Collins is a good pick up. He just need to settle down and clean his play. Lovie doesn’t believe about oline cohesion but I do. I think they’ll get better as the year goes by. Mankins does play hurt so I wouldn’t hold anything against him. Even a 50% mankins is 700% better than a 100% Cousins.
Still unsure how I feel about EDS. Hope he gets better and more comfortable

@jonny – didn’t know you needed a degree to post on JBF.
@gtr – what lightning said
@joe said “but joe would take Collins in his team anyday” – would you like to join my FF league? I’d be happy to take your money.

Collin is okay at LT, I think he would be a better RT. That being said, Demar Dotson is outstanding in pass protection at RT and okay at run blocking and I think he would be even better at LT. It might be too late in the season to flip-flop the OTs, but it might really improve this Oline.

I really don’t give a dam how he speaks or what music he listens to. Just do your job!!! He “SHOULD OF” had that same passion last Sunday when he was getting his a$$ handed to him in the run game. And I quote, “SHOULD OF. ” Lmfao

The way people speak and the value they put into speaking grammatical English does not define intelligence.
