A Yahoo! Sports report suggests Bucs G Logan Mankins’ knee injury “not serious.”

Joe could just feel the air being sucked out of the Stadium on Dale Mabry Highway yesterday when coveted guard Logan Mankins, fresh off the boat from Boston, blew a knee early in the game.

Mankins, though he walked off the field, needed assistance and later went to the locker room. Bucs fans feared the worst.

It may not be that bad, if one is to believe the words typed by Rand Getlin of Yahoo! Sports. Citing the ever-popular “league source,” Mankins is believed to have dodged a bullet, Getlin types.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers lineman Logan Mankins hyperextended his knee on Sunday, an injury the Bucs don’t believe to be serious, a league source told Yahoo Sports on Sunday.

Mankins was injured in the first half and never returned to action in Tampa’s surprising 20-14 home loss to the Carolina Panthers. The Bucs, desperate to bolster a struggling offensive line, dealt tight end Tim Wright and a draft pick to the Patriots for the Pro Bowl lineman on Aug. 26.

Well, if we don’t know the extent of Mankins’ injury today, surely we will find out Tuesday. If it is just hyperextended, wow, what a relief for all parties involved.

The last thing the Bucs needed was yet another hole at guard. No need for Bucs general manager Jason Licht to go dumpster diving, again.

That would be incredibly good news.
Still need another Guard- if we plan on running the ball
    Ritchie!!

Out of left field, was surprised at how well Gilkey player, considering he just got here. Looks to be a quality backup.
The rest of them had moments. On a couple plays- there was great pass protection. Gives you hope. But on most, it’s a good thing McCown can play well on the run. He had to
Run blocking stopped, when Mankins left.

  2. Oahubuc Says:

He threw a beastly block on his way out.

  3. Just Me Says:

Great picture to frame yesterdays game. It looks like he’s sitting on the Jon. Wonder what the best caption should be? “If everyone else is going to crap their pants-I might as well also.”

  4. MadMax Says:

Seriously need him for protecting Glennon…..Thats right I said it MG8….WHAT????

  5. Incognito Says:

McClown says he only runs in emergency situations? Every play is an emergency situation McClown or learn how to throw the ball away for CS.

  6. Teacherman777 Says:

Mccown needs to count to 3 or 4 and then take off.

He will never have more than 3 seconds.

    1-2-3 rruuuuuuuun!!

  7. RichBucsfan Says:

How is it that the local media has to depend on yahoo sports or CBS sports or some other national media source for a local situation. Do our media people here in the Tampa Bay area not have “sources” in the Bucs organization? This is a troubling situation. I can only speak for myself, but it took a good while to find out anything last night about Mankins’ injury. All I heard from the local media was crickets.

  8. ForgotAboutDre Says:

Didn’t you recently write an article about how he kept playing through an ACL tear or something? My initial thought was, if he can play through that, than how bad is this injury to keep him out of the game?

    Glad it’s not too serious.

  9. buc4lyfe Says:

That is exactly why you don’t hype up a player who had a pro bowl career somewhere else. Mankind, Johnson, verner, Jenkins, goldson, mcdonald, castillas probably didn’t register a tackle…… It’s a new scheme for them but it’s still all football at the end of the day.

  10. Sapp, STFU Says:

    Incognito signing in 3. . .2. . .1. . .

  11. Sapp, STFU Says:

And for those of you who blast Incognito being on the team, I saw nothing on the field telling me this team in minutes away from gelling. They need to show so swaggar. And if McCown is going to lob interveptions as he desperately tried to make a play within 20 seconds of snapping the ball, we better have more people who can give him the extra time he needs. (Sarcasm in there)

  12. mpmalloy Says:

I suspect that it is serious and the line
about it not being serious is just another
    lie from the Glazerhouses.

    Move the Bucs.
Let some other city deal with the Glazerhouses.
Take the 1 cent sales tax back and use it for education.
    The Glazers are a cancer.

  13. mpmalloy Says:

We can’t sign Richie because the media has
crucified him. How’s it going to look if we
take him down off the cross and give him another
chance and God forbid he does well?
That would ruin a lot of hard work that the media
    put into slandering this guy.
After all he is a………racist, right?

  14. winepeddler Says:

So after his injury he comes out of the locker room wearing a knee brace. Where was the damn knee brace before the injury. He must be the only NFL lineman that doesn’t wear one and with his history with knees?

Run blocking stopped, when Mankins left.

    THIS.

Once he went out, there was NO more push in the run game.

  16. FLBoyInDallas Says:

Hurry back Logan…Mike Glennon is gonna need you.
