“It’s Choreographed”

NFL offense is very new to the Bucs’ first-round draft pick. Less than a year ago, wide receiver Mike Evans was doing all kinds of freelancing with college football legend Johnny Football.
Those two buddies were extreme break dancing, essentially, while many of their peers were performing precision waltzes and tangos. You may find Joe’s dance analogy ridiculous, but it’s not.
Evans was asked about Jeff Tedford’s offense and how he fits in. “It’s like, it’s choreographed. Really. Just be in the right spot and you’ll get the ball when you need to,” Evans said yesterday.
That was a telling answer from the still 20-year-old receiver. It’s a window into just how much of a transition Evans must make. “Choreographed” isn’t a typical response.
Joe’s watched Evans closely this spring and summer, and his route running is very raw, among the worst of the Bucs’ big stable of training camp receivers. But Evans’ raw talent, well, he’s off the chart. You see the flashes of brilliance, and that’s without any 50-50 balls being thrown in practice.
Keep learning the dance, Mike. Joe can’t wait to see it on opening day.

A rare glimpse into Mike Evans sense of humor. It’s just his way of keeping the offense secret, and mixing in a little humor. I’m sure he’s probably tired of the question by now.

Love hearing from Mike. You can tell he pays attention out there. Referencing previous practices and what coaches had gone over (8 turnovers!), plus seeing his face light up about what he’s learned from VJax. Dude didn’t even want to say that he was faster than him!

On Friday our second team O should consist of Glennon, Evans, ASJ and Simms? Am I right? They could “stomp” on some people. (Lol get it? Stomp as in the dance.) smh Ty n gn.
