Dolphins 20, Bucs 14

Gerald McCoy was freakin’ dominant. The Bucs’ offensive line looked solid. Mike Evans learned a valuable lesson. And did Joe mention Gerald McCoy was an unstoppable force?

Hope and peace and calm is restored across the Tampa Bay area.

Joe’s must tip his cap to new right guard Patrick Omameh who made the most of his shot tonight. The 23-year-old did some good things, showed some quick feet and strength. There were holes for Doug Martin. Real holes. And Martin looked sharp. Omameh was undrafted out of Michigan last year, a Schiano-Dominik pick up off the 49ers’ practice squad.

The Bucs’ defense was again the no-worries unit Joe expected. They got the turnover Lovie Smith covets (thanks, Gerald) and allowed three points to the Dolphins’ first-team offense and through the first half.

Job pretty well done.

Stick with Joe through the night for so much more out of tonight’s game and the locker room.

    Last year McCoy didn’t get any help. This year he don’t NEED any!!

    Jerseys aren’t bad

    Football games are not won with the first unit. The Bucs still have no depth and that OL is not all that good. Most passes are underneath routes and the holes for Martin will close quickly in the regular season.

    I still expect only 4 wins and Tedford to be fired during the season. Lovie Smith and Jason Licht have no clue on how to match personnel for scheme and it will become increasingly obvious as the season progresses. 1-5 in the first six and panic about even hiring Lovie before the end of the season. I think he may get canned after next year without dramatic change – and that’ll be hard if he has too much input in personnel. Lovie has no clue on offense and is poor with personnel.

    Odly enough, I didn’t even notice the jerseys. That’s a good thing, cause last week they blared disaster to me. Walter, you might be right.

    Secondary sucked, but there were injuries. Other than that, the defense looked great.

    Oline solid? Hmmn. I think they were better. I think the run blocking was much better. Starting QB protection was improved.

    But it wasn’t exactly solid. Not yet.

    Oddly I mean

    No matter how bad tonight shook out, ATL took it to the chin and lost their starting LT with a knee injury (not Matthews). Fingers crossed James’ shoulder isn’t serious.

    @BB

    They have potential to be a lot better, let’s see what happens next week.

    Leave Omameh where is at. Let him get some reps and give Edwards a chance too if he flops and cousins is better so be it. I agree with Joe or Joe’s if that’s your real name. Baby steps. Baby steps from another post. It’s coming together like it or not. Cannons will be firing!! I might be a lil pessimistic about my bucs. Boom!

    @JR

    Get off the site with negativity. The team first team played well. Let that be. Loser… You prolly couldn’t throw a flag in the nfl. Lol

  12. Cannon Says:

    There are NFL players…

    …and then there is Gerald McCoy.

    I’m glad to hear the Super Bowl parade is back on!

    On the jersey thing: the white ones look good. On the Omameh thing: shouldn’t be a huge surprise- there’s been a buzz about him in the last couple of months.

    My man McCoy tearing it up last night….and Evans (hopefully) lesson learned!!! 1st team O line looked better but still, we need to bite the bullet and sign Boone from sanfran….give them a 2nd from next year, the money is there…..do it guys!

  16. Brandon Says:

    This is no joke, I watched the guard play extensively for a series and the guards (Cousins and Onemeh) were really getting great push, especially Cousins. On two consecutive plays, Cousins blew his guy 5+ yards down field. Not saying he’s going to be great, but at the very least he was pretty good in this game, which is more than I can say for his past.

    That middle corner for shredded all night…. No worries Joe really?

    Nickel corner
