Bonding Delivering For Foster And David
August 23rd, 2014You want to see one of the greats of the game blow up a running back? Well here’s the video of the crushing Lavonte David viper strike on C.J. Spiller at the Bucs’ 40-yard line this afternoon.
Spiller didn’t know what hit him, and David’s good buddy Mason Foster picked the ball up and rumbled 24 yards.
David told Joe after the game that the play somewhat symbolized the strong connection between him and Foster. The two are close friends.
“The stronger our relationship is off the field it makes it stronger on the field,” David said. “We know how to talk to each other. We know how to relate as plays develop, and as plays go on we talk on the field and tell each other what to expect. It gives us an opportunity to play a little faster and put ourselves in opportunities to make plays.”
Joe can’t argue with the chemistry in the Bucs linebacker corps. Foster and David are doing some special things, as they did for stretches over the past two seasons. The nuanced communication the two have is invaluable and should only get better.
And the Bucs have depth at linebacker, too. Backup Danny Lansanah even stepped in today for punished Jonathan Casillas and didn’t mess a beat.
As for David’s bone-crushing hit, he told Joe it was all business: “Just a reaction, man, just reading my keys playing my assignment and working to the football when the ball is thrown,” David said.

Anything involving Levonte makes me smile. Looking forward to seeing lots of Ric Flair impersonations this year.

Without getting all crazy giddy, we need to remember that this was a horrible Bills team. Great start for sure. It looks like that D is going to provide a lot of scores to help the O as they try to get their act together. No complaints here. I remember that during the Super Bowl run, the D did much the same thing.

RichBucsfan,
This may be a horrible Bills team, but they managed to beat the Carolina Panthers in preseason with Cam Newton at the helm. What does that tell you? Probably nothing because it’s preseason. True it doesn’t count, but it does matter!

Said was all over the field. Missed one tackle (just barely) by a half an inch and was pissed with himself. We need 22 competitors like him.
Who’s your favorite player? Mr Lavonte David
