They’re Back!

July 24th, 2014
McCownreturns

Josh McCown offered a take on Bucs fans this morning.

Sun was rising at One Buc Palace this morning as the latest edition of the Buccaneers, Lovie Smith’s Buccaneers, arrived to start the 2014 season.

Team leader and starting quarterback Josh McCown was among those who spoke to Joe and assembled media.

Of course, McCown said all the right things and said he’s had summer workout sessions with select teammates since spring practices ended.

McCown also said he arrived in town with his entire family six days ago and has been struck by Tampa Bay fans.

“I didn’t realize how passionate they were about it,” McCown said, referring to Bucs fans desire for a winner.

Mr. McCown, you have no idea!

Joe will have more from One Buc Palace through the day.

Passion is a double edged sword Josh. Ask the MGM lying in wait.

  2. Phillip Says:

    Joe,

I know this is off topic… But I want the Dexter Jackson article! Just want to hear all the Dom haters B!tch and moan that it’s not Dom…

Anyway back on subject isn’t today just like the walk through crap you were saying and that the hits start cracking tomorrow?

  3. BucFanForever Says:

Josh, just put up 3td/1int, 325yards a week and the fans will stay forever loyal.

Or do whatever you want as long as you and the team gets a “W.”

  4. Oil Derrick Brooks Says:

It doesn’t matter who Joe lists as #1. When you are responsible for 75% of the people on the list, you are clearly #1.

We all know it. If you don’t know it, then you don’t WANT to know. Doesn’t change the facts.

  5. Harry Says:

    @Biff,
48 TDs, 5,200 yards? Man, you are tough to please. If McCown maintains a 2.5/1 TD/Int ratio, does close to 4,000 yards and plays all 16 games, I would be THRILLED, and that would be close to what we need to get to the playoffs.

  6. lightningbuc Says:

I hope the security guard at One Buc lets Mike Glennon through the guard shack even though he’s possessing a weapon. You know, that cannon he carries around on his right shoulder!

  7. Tom Edrington Says:

Then there are the questions, I believe Martin Fennelly read the minds of 99% of the Buccaneer fans with his questions:

    http://tbo.com/list/sports-columns-mfennelly/no-longform-but-here-are-another-548-words-on-bucs-20140720/

    Ditto

  8. BucFanForever Says:

I guess I should have done the math.

  9. Brandon Says:

Passion? I’m calling BS on that one. I walk into a Wal-mart or Kohl’s in Sarasota (I think there’s 5 total of the 2 businesses) and the only Buc apparel I could find in any of them was a XL Cadillac Williams jersey that was also extra long +2.

In Northern Virginia, 20 miles outside of DC (or in other words, 2 hours away), the Wal-marts and Kohl’s are absolutely littered filthy with Redskins crap left and right. It’s sickening.

Is there passion here for the Bucs? Not what I would call passion, it’s almost like a tolerance. This will change this season.

  10. Phillip Says:

If you KNEW football then you would know that Head Coaches pick their coordinators… He also didn’t hire Raheem so counting his win loss with a coach he didn’t choose doesn’t seem right? I’m sure even if you subtract those two it doesn’t look good… Also if you weren’t just a hater on Dom you would also notice all the draft picks and current players that are still on the roster from him… ALSO it isn’t Dom’s fault that players that had no right in sticking around did for so long if the coach doesn’t want to cut them (Te’o Lewis to name a couple)… You are the biggest Dom hater on here other than another fan that doesn’t know a damn thing about football and give him all kinds of sh!t but never give him compliments for the GMC LVD Doug VJax Dotson Penn Davin Spence Clayborn Barron Goldson Mike Williams Stroughter Bennett Gholston Banks Leonard Melvin Tandy Wright(admittedly probably more Schiano) Winslow Clifton Smith Freeman(even for all the wrong that happened last season) Glennon(ugh) and more(too early for me to think of anymore)… I’m not saying that all these players were amazing but they did solid contributions while they were here (or currently).. plus all the talent we have brought in that went elsewhere because the coach cut them.. But keep bashing… Loved it when we all thought you were banned.. Your negativity is greatly appreciated on a comments section of a fan site..

How about them negative passionate fans McCown did you run into those losers yet?

Keep up the good work Joe!

  11. stevek Says:

    Phillip,

Nice rant. Dominick is by far the #1 worst Buccaneer of the last 10 years. 28-52 speaks for itself.

Dominick was not a good GM, nice guy and good on camera, I will give you that.

  12. The_Buc_Realist Says:

Dominick was just a couple of millions of guaranteed money for Albert Haynsworth of being the worst GM in NFL I have ever witnessed. In a way, I wish it did happen so he could be the undisputed worst GM in the NFL!

  13. John23 Says:

I want to see TOUCHDOWNS 7 points up on the board hear them cannons boom !!! I want to see 3rd & 6 converted into first downs and of course NOT a predictable 1st &10 let’s just run the ball mentality

  14. CreamsicleBananaHammock Says:

    YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  15. Oil Derrick Brooks Says:

    I didn’t know you cared. I’m blushing!

    28-52.

The GM is responsible for the 53 man roster, not the coach. If Dominik would have ever stopped bottoming for Rah and Schiano, we would not be in this situation.

As for those players, we could go through Matt Millens time and see a handful of players that excelled too, but, when it’s relative to a 53 man roster every year, for 5 years, it’s not that impressive.

And, whenever someone uses Josh Freeman as positive for their argument, they’ve already lost the war.

Thanks for your continuing presence critiquing and monitoring the opinions of football fans on a football fan opinion site. Kudos!

  16. BoJim Says:

Joe. A BIG thank you for getting us through the last few months!!!

  17. Phillip Says:

The coach cuts the players… You really don’t know football… You really think a GM is gonna tell a coach you have to keep this player if the coach thinks he isn’t good enough? Especially if their contact isn’t a big issue.. Yes the same Freeman that everyone from the MGM loves to bash set all kinds of records in 2012 and led the 9th ranked offense and the same kid in 2010 that had what 26 TD’s against 5 INT’s? I didn’t say everyone was all stars but yes he made solid contributions while he was here… But keep on acting like you know a Damn thing about football

  18. Joe Says:

Joe. A BIG thank you for getting us through the last few months!!!

    Joe aims to please. 🙂

  19. Oil Derrick Brooks Says:

Yeah, you TOTALLY you know what you’re talking about. Joe actually linked to this article:

“Mark Dominik, who has full decision-making power over personnel and final say on the 53-man roster. Greg Schiano has control over the 46-man game-day roster and oversees his own staff”

    http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000211489/article/whos-ireallyi-in-charge-nfc-south-squads-seek-balance

I guess we should all be bowing to your SUPERIOR football acumen, AYE???????

  20. Oil Derrick Brooks Says:

Wait, which Josh Freeman? Are you talking about the guy who got cut in favor of Curtis Painter and Ryan Nassib? That guy?

  21. Joe Says:

    ODB:

Mark Dominik, who has full decision-making power over personnel and final say on the 53-man roster

Joe knows for a fact that is inaccurate. Of course, why listen to a guy who talks to many people, both suits and coaches, at One Buc Palace and instead, believe a guy who Joe has never seen in Tampa?

    Your choice.

  22. Oil Derrick Brooks Says:

    @Joe

I’m not sure where I would get such an idea from………

“Joe believes Dominik and Schiano work hand in hand daily and have a very healthy GM-coach relationship, which means Schiano drives his share of decisions while Dominik drives the bus.”

    https://www.joebucsfan.com/?p=89992

Look, I realize several people write these articles, but, if this isn’t talking out of both sides of your mouth, I don’t know what is. You literally linked this exact article and didn’t dispute it all. And, now, you are trying to tell me that it’s inaccurate. Which is it?

So, yes, I agree, why should I listen to talks to many people, both suits and coaches?…..If this guy has never been in Tampa, why did you write the article?

I feel like I’m in the Twilight Zone.

  23. Joe Says:

    ODB:

At the time, Joe had no reason to believe otherwise. Joe found out, roughly in late August of last year, who pulled what strings.

If you think about it, would a control freak like Schiano leave a cushy gig at Rutgers to take over a team in turmoil if he didn’t have final say on who was on the roster?

To this day, Dominik says he let Michael Bennett go; not Schiano. But is sure smells like Schiano didn’t want him. Bennett was a free spirit and often said what was on his mind. That wasn’t a Schiano man.

  24. Buccfan37 Says:

Joe, you have a great Bucs site here and handle it well. I like Oil Derrick Brooks takes on the Bucs.

  25. Oil Derrick Brooks Says:

    Joe:

That’s all fine. But, look at your reply to me,

“Of course, why listen to a guy who talks to many people, both suits and coaches, at One Buc Palace and instead, believe a guy who Joe has never seen in Tampa? ”

If you never printed a retraction, why would I think otherwise? You could have started off with the “At the time, Joe had no reason…” Instead of big timing me about the guy never being in Tampa, and you talking to people at OBP.

You do see what I’m alluding to, right?

  26. Joe Says:

You do see what I’m alluding to, right?

Yes. You will not be satisfied until or unless there is video of Joe bludgeoning Dominik in public with a sledgehammer. There was no reason to retract anything. There was no reason at the time to believe Breer’s information was inaccurate. Geez, Joe just KNEW you would not be satisfied with an honest answer.

Believe what you want to believe. Joe’s done with this subject.

  27. Oil Derrick Brooks Says:

    You started with this question:

“Of course, why listen to a guy who talks to many people, both suits and coaches, at One Buc Palace and instead, believe a guy who Joe has never seen in Tampa? ”

The answer being, because, you, or one of your staff REPORTED it as such. That’s why.

So, instead of your lede being, “Hey, at the time, I though this was correct, I have since learned it wasn’t.” Rather, you act like I should somehow know to NOT believe you when you reported it, but, to believe something you never reported. Sorry, I’ll try to read all the Joes’ minds going forward.

  28. Joe Says:

    ODB:

You know, on second thought, Joe will reply. Accusing Joe of lying or being dishonest is a crime against Joe. You know the penalty.

Also, the original quote your referencing from Joe about Schiano and Dominik is not inaccurate at all. Might want to stop reading between lines.

  29. Phillip Says:

    It’s really common sense.. Lol

  30. Sammy2 Says:

@ Joe Great photo of 3 game Josh McCown.
