“There Will Be Some Good Phone Calls Made”

“Get it together, McCown. Or I’ll go sign your freakin’ brother.”
Noted film junkie and Saints backup quarterback Luke McCown, the former Buccaneer (2005-2009), says he’s looking forward to trash talking phone calls with his big brother this season. That would be Bucs starter Josh McCown.
Joe’s not interested in the trash, but is interested in how the younger McCown might be able to help Lovie Smith’s Buccaneers.
Joe has never been invited to the McCowns for Thanksgiving, but they’re known to be a very close family. Joe’s learned of this via numerous interviews, and the McCown brothers, including Randy who played QB for Texas A&M, have run youth passing clinics together in Texas.
Heck, there’s even the famous story of how Luke and Josh were chopping firewood six summers ago and Luke nearly hacked off Josh’s finger. The elder McCown, our beloved Josh, needed six stiches. And they still love each other.
Taking a peek at the 2014 schedule, Joe sees that the Saints open up with the Falcons and surely will be studying Atlanta all preseason and through training camp. Eleven days later, the Bucs will head to Atlanta on a short week for a Thursday Night Football matchup.
Joe wonders how long it will take Josh McCown to telephone Luke for insight on everything he learned studying and playing Atlanta under the guidance of Sean Peyton? Probably less than 24 hours.
A few weeks after the Saints play the Vikings and Browns, the Bucs will be making road trips to those teams. In all, three of the Bucs’ first eight opponents will be teams the Saints have already played.
Does this really mean much? No. But every little competitive edge in the NFL shouldn’t be underestimated.
Josh McCown is desperate for a fast start. His urgency is extraordinary, as Bucs fans and players learned quickly this spring. Joe has no doubt McCown will seek help from his brother. Hopefully, Luke will be in the giving spirit. (You can check out Luke McCown in the NOLA.com video below.)

@Joe – I hate to complain but these automatically starting ads drive me crazy. Can’t even watch the video you post because they are running in the background. Not good at all.

I highly doubt insider secrets will be shared. Luke is, after all, playing for a division rival. he won’t want his brother to end up making the playoffs at the expense of his own team, unless things are really, really bad with his team.
Of course, there is also a chance Luke will not make his team.

Don’t feel bad. I didn’t even know there was a video (using my laptop) until I turned on PageTweak (in Firefix) to block all ads…and then the video Joe posted showed up.
So even on a computer, the ads are somehow blocking posted content.

I don’t see having the Saints play shared opponents before us as an advantage actually, because I would much rather play these teams when they are ridiculously over confident than desperately in need of a win. just sayin’

Yea, ads have gotten worse today. This time I have an ad that runs the entire width of the screen.

I have duplicate videos of the same ad up and down the screen. You stop one from playing and then have to stop two or three others.

Uhhh, did you not notice that the division team that Luke’s brother plays for would be playing ANOTHER division team, one that was in the NFC Championship game only 2 seasons ago? I’m pretty sure he’ll share.

@Joe The ads are at it again. And one of the reasons I know it’s not just me is that others just brought it up.(and that I have a Ccna and A+ cert with over 15 years of computer experience). The ball is in you court.

I have a feeling with all of Licht’s experience, we will have books prepared on all of our opponents and should not need Luke’s help. Any he gives is gravy. I always liked Luke and thought we should have kept him!
