+1 to “yes”
The kid can play and is only going to get better.
He works his tail off, unlike some of the 2013 (dismissed) Bucs.
July 10th, 2014 at 11:40 am
I’m just glad we didn’t end up with Johnny Party.
Phew.
July 10th, 2014 at 11:47 am
If Lovie succeeds in bringing a top 5 defense back to Tampa, Glennon can probably muster out winning seasons.
I don’t know how much Schiano shackled him, but he doesn’t seem to have any clutchness about him.
Count me out of the mob.
July 10th, 2014 at 11:47 am
Glennon will turn out to be a fine NFL QB. Chances are he will be starting for the Bucs by mid season, as there is nothing in McCown’s history to suggest that he can be a starter for an entire season. I’m sure Josh is a great guy and a capable leader, but he has NEVER started an entire NFL season and at 35 years old, the chances of him doing it now are not good! Glennon will have some growing pains here and there, but last year proved he has the makings of a good QB. So call me an MGM’er if you want!
July 10th, 2014 at 11:48 am
I am pulling for the guy but I don’t consider myself a mob member.
July 10th, 2014 at 11:50 am
Joe, this poll is not fair. How are the converted Johnny football fans to the “anyone but Glennon Mob” are supposed to vote with there “money phones”?
July 10th, 2014 at 11:55 am
This can only help to divide the fanbase even further.
Bill Parcells: “…subversive from within.”
July 10th, 2014 at 11:56 am
Joe, I really like this idea.
To a degree, I can gauge (and I’m sure you can too) from comments how your readership feels on certain subjects, but that information in poll-form could be very telling.
July 10th, 2014 at 11:56 am
Curious as to “why” this topic matters…. whats the need to divide Bucs fans?
‘
Why assume there’s a divide? We all want the Bucs to win. –Joe
July 10th, 2014 at 11:58 am
I like him, I wouldn’t say I’m part of the family but I do believe the guy can turn out pretty good although I’m indifferent on who’s taking snaps this season. McCown or Glennon, let’s just get to some meaningful snaps already.
July 10th, 2014 at 11:58 am
Not one. But I support him. I’m happy with McCown leading us this season and maybe next. If Glennon ever starts, I’ll support him 100%.
I just want to see us compete and enjoy good old football. Now we have the right coaching staff…
July 10th, 2014 at 12:00 pm
@gulfcoast…
It’s because Joe likes fans here sniping at one another and not at him.lol
July 10th, 2014 at 12:01 pm
If MGM membership is classified as thinking the kid performed well for a rookie under bad circumstances and will be a good NFL QB then count me amongst the MGM. If definition is making predictions that he WILL be the next Brad-ie or Manning then count me out. Split the difference between Flacco and Ryan and that’s what I envision we’ll have in a couple years
July 10th, 2014 at 12:01 pm
@gulfcoast
When has Buc fans ever been united? thats the real question.
July 10th, 2014 at 12:01 pm
@gulfcoast – Bucs fans are Bucs fans. They can have different opinions. There is no problem here just opinions. It’s all good…
July 10th, 2014 at 12:03 pm
Why Joe, do you use “mob” in describing fans of a rookie who unseated the headcase Freeman when he was the best option we had? I understand some of you freemanites hate being wrong about freefree and want to deliver some payback in the form you do as of now. But your hatred of being wrong has clouded
Joe’s cut off your ramble. Joe has no hatred of being wrong. Don’t make stuff up. –Joe
July 10th, 2014 at 12:19 pm
Hahaha, good stuff ^
July 10th, 2014 at 12:26 pm
@The_Buc_Realist Says
Bucs fans were united like never before after we beat Philly and were headed to San Diego!!! And then for a few weeks after that…any other times…not so much
July 10th, 2014 at 12:27 pm
I’m a member of the “BQM” (Bucs QB mob). It doesn’t matter who’s playing. GO BUCS !!!!!!!
July 10th, 2014 at 12:35 pm
Come on haters, stop voting multiple times! 🙂
System only allows 1 vote per computer. –Joe
July 10th, 2014 at 12:38 pm
NO….. But I do respect his intelligence, work ethic, & physical ability. And I think he can be a solid mid-tier NFL starting QB someday.
July 10th, 2014 at 12:43 pm
The question and available answers are too vague and insufficient. How does one define Glennon mob? I like the guy but don’t think he’s the one to start this season. I’m glad he’s on the team and see him as a good possible future starter for the Bucs. He gained some valuable experience starting last season, but obviously has a lot to learn.
McCown may be just the guy to mentor and lead him to excellence. So I’m happy the way things are for now. Start McCown, let Glennon watch how it’s done. He should be able to make good use of what he sees with his experience from last year.
So where is the block to check for this answer? I like the poll idea but don’t want to be pigeon holed, so I didn’t check any option.
July 10th, 2014 at 12:48 pm
Less in the “Mike Glennon Mob” and more in the “FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DON’T HAND A STARTING GIG TO A GUY WHO WAS GARBAGE FOR 10+ YEARS AND HIS PLAYED 6 GOOD GAMES IN HIS ENTIRE CAREER MOB”
July 10th, 2014 at 12:58 pm
Hate Him …./…. Love Him
seems we’re left with no middle ground
so to not be called a MOB member you have to hate him?
..but if you like him you’re labeled a MOB member?
..then the third option is if you decide later that you like him you’re automatically labeled a MOB member even though now you’re given the choice that to be a Glennon fan you have to except that you will be labeled a MOB member.
Divide and ridicule those who do not except your opinion ..sounds to much like politics to me. Personally, I’m just a fan who supports and accepts what goes on with unwavered patriotism. We must forge forward and quit living in the past. We as fans must support this years 2014 squad and hope that everyone of our 53 players contribute more than what’s actually expected of them if we are to win the division as Licht and Smith have quoted.
July 10th, 2014 at 1:03 pm
‘Cement Shoes’ has shown he can complete the ‘dink pass’. If the Bucs intend to be the ‘dinkaneers rather than the dunkaneers’ then Glennon will be fine! Unfortunately to be a successful qb you do need to complete a few passes over ten yards. Part of the o-lines problems last year were due to his lack of mobility.
July 10th, 2014 at 1:22 pm
A group of kangaroos is called a mob. So all you Roos that are in the mob, hop your a$$ on down to the ticket office and buy season tickets to support your guy! That’s the ticket!
July 10th, 2014 at 1:31 pm
Number 41,
Don’t forget the 2 or 3 good games McCown had in the UFL in one of the recent years when NO NFL team wanted him.
July 10th, 2014 at 1:35 pm
Exactly 41. Make him earn it to. Just handing the job over to THAT guy is senseless unless he can prove he is better just like they are trying to make Glennon prove it.
July 10th, 2014 at 1:41 pm
The message board is flooded with MGM members, however, the voters/non-posters disagree heartily. I’m not sure what ANYBODY saw last season that made them think Glennon is definitively the answer to any QB question. All I know is that like most MGM members, when the numbers come out contrary to their line of thinking, we will have another captain’s vote controversy.

It wasn’t his immobility as much as the fact that he held onto the ball far too long and seemed to have no feel for the pressure, where to step up, when to step up, when to break contain, and when to throw the ball away. Combine that with the fact that he couldn’t/wouldn’t push the ball 11-30 yards down the field, and I’m not so sure he’s a great back-up either.

——————
Schiano didn’t “shackle him”. That’s what Schiano loved about Glennon, he was already shackled by his lack of physical abilities. I’m no Freeman lover or apologist, but Freeman won 7 games the year before with a historically bad defense, plus put up Buc records for numbers (4000 yards), and Glennon came in last season and couldn’t keep a team with a decent defense even competitive. That’s what happens when a QB constantly checks down on 3 and 12 (the result of holding onto the ball too long and taking sacks) and pads his completion percentage but was one of the league leaders in 3 and outs.
July 10th, 2014 at 1:55 pm
Brandon,
Thanks for the clarification.
All I really know is that it was painful to watch the offense last season when Glennon was taking snaps.
I miss 2010 and 2012 so much.
July 10th, 2014 at 2:01 pm
Should have added in the following catagories:
4. I have hope he can be a good starter
5. I don’t hate him as much as Joe ((Joe doesn’t hate Glennon. –Joe))
6. Not sure what he can be, but like him better than Joe
July 10th, 2014 at 2:01 pm
@ Lightningbuc & Couch fan
Everyday since McCown has been here, he has been proving to everyone in the organization that he’s better than Glennon in virtually every way (at this point in time)… Do u guys even keep up with the current info or what?!?
McCown is our team leader, not Glennon. McCown is more fluent in our offense & he executes it more proficiently than Glennon does, currently. Why the hell would u rather start the guy who isn’t performing as well as our current starter?!? Makes ZERO sense. And it really damages your guys’ credibility in general. SMH. Take off the blinders
July 10th, 2014 at 2:24 pm
Didn’t care for the bashing the guy took last year and this off season.
He was a rookie with no OLine and 1 WR threat and 3rd string RB stuck in a dink and dunk offense who’s coaching was dismal in the 2nd half of games.
For a rookie he did OK for what he had to work with.
I am fine with the new staff bringing in a seasoned vet.
July 10th, 2014 at 2:25 pm
He’s proven that he’s a better leader yes. After 10+ years in the league he should be a better leader. A better QB? I havent read that anywhere… so you go head and continue to assume.
July 10th, 2014 at 2:30 pm
What’s that stat again? Oh yeah, we averaged 5 points in the second half…..how can anyone possibly think Glennon is the answer? Yes, poor play calling contributed, but 5 points isn’t ONLY because of the coach. Whoever is under center though, I’ll be supporting….even if it means we have to create a Kafka Crew.
July 10th, 2014 at 2:42 pm
I love Freeman and Raheem Morris.
I hate Schiano, Gruden, Jim Leavitt and Joe Maddon.
I only care about my ratings and how sporting events
in Tampa effect me directly. I’m insufferably arrogant
and a Teflon Don when it comes to keeping my job.
Who am I?
July 10th, 2014 at 2:48 pm
No 300 yard games….No comeback wins……yeah count me out of that garbage.
July 10th, 2014 at 2:49 pm
I once saw a mob of kangaroos turn into a flash mob dancing to “At the Hop”.
July 10th, 2014 at 3:01 pm
@Buc the Hater
Anyone can look good in pads and a meeting room.
There is a 10 year history of actual play that suggests what he’ll look like when he gets on a real field.
July 10th, 2014 at 3:04 pm
@ Couch fan
I’m not making assumptions about McCown’s practice performance vs Glennon’s. I am going from the practice reports & interviews. Everyone says McCown is just better right now.. And even if their performance was equal, I’ll take the better leader. Although, if Glennon was our ‘starter’, I know he would be a good leader. So, that’s a moot point, but I think everyone should embrace McCown & support him until he gets beat out or fails on the field (which I don’t think either will happen for a few years, personally).
July 10th, 2014 at 3:08 pm
Couch Fan,
No sense in arguing with Buc the Hater. He’s a genius with the IQ to prove it. Just ask him!
July 10th, 2014 at 3:11 pm
What does it say about Glennon when a 35-year-old journeyman QB is performing better than him (physically & mentally) since the day he arrived?!? Simple: Said journeyman QB is currently better than the cannon. Not too difficult to figure out 😛
July 10th, 2014 at 3:13 pm
McCown has my support. I have not said anything negative about the guy except to state his history which is a big deal. If he starts I have to accept it and root for the guy to show his history is the real fluke and not his last 5 games. But I’m going to be honest and tell you flat out that I dont expect that to happen and I want Glennon to start so we dont have to wait years to find out if he is our franchise or not so we can move on if need be and get us a true franchise that McCown will not be. But as 41 said, just handing the keys over to a 10+ year vet who has NEVER had success in the NFL in 10+ years except for a handful of games last year is senseless. How anyone would want to give that guy a chance and just completely ignore Glennon is just as asinine as all these people saying Glennon has 0% chance to be any good.
July 10th, 2014 at 3:15 pm
Lbuc, I’ve only brought up my IQ one time in my entire life. And it was only bcuz Dbuc thinks I’m stupid for making obvious typos
July 10th, 2014 at 3:17 pm
@Lightening
He’s actually funny considering he’s seen nothing with his own eyes and concluding all his opinions on only what he’s heard from the media who clearly has there own agenda’s which should be obvious at this point. Almost comical that some people choose not to use there own brain.
July 10th, 2014 at 3:21 pm
“might joint after watching him in the pre season”- translates into not currently an MGM member. So, as it stands right now, 75% of JBF visitors are NOT MGM members, while only 24% are. Some “mob”.
Get over it MGM , Josh McCown is our starting QB this season. Notice how injected “this season”.
To be honest, I’m tired of all this segregated “got have loyalty for 1 QB” crap. Just shut up and root for however is our starting QB this season.
July 10th, 2014 at 3:23 pm
The No voters are mostly Freeman fans gone sour. Can you vote more than once? If so, that’s not a fair poll.
July 10th, 2014 at 3:27 pm
75% of JBF visitors are NOT MGM members, while only 24% are.
_______________
I wouldn’t put too much stock in Joe’s unscientific poll. I’m a huge MG8 supporter and voted NO because I’m not a member of any mob – I just want him to get a fair shake at winning the starting job. I suspect many others like me will vote NO as well, because this “mob” is pretty much a figment of Joe’s and a few others imaginations.
What’s unscientific? You can’t vote multiple times. Joe has more than 1,000 votes so far in a short time frame. Look at all these Mob members planting their flag. It’s not Joe’s imagination. –Joe
July 10th, 2014 at 3:29 pm
If Glennon becomes our starting QB, then I’ll be more than happy to root for him. But, word from the bucs is that McCown is our starter, so embrace it and root for our starting QB bucs fans. Enough of this picking sides nonsense.
July 10th, 2014 at 3:32 pm
Couch Fan, I definitely understand that aspect of the situation and part of me agrees with that line of thinking. We could be all be wrong, but I just feel like McCown has a better chance of succeeding right now. Hopefully, whoever wins out leads us to a winning record.
July 10th, 2014 at 3:32 pm
But the haters will always cling to this mob mentally for dear life so I just embrace and run with it. They can’t hurt you with it if your using it as your armor.

July 10th, 2014 at 3:34 pm
Agree with that Buc, I just want to win and if Josh is best in that department then he has my full support.
July 10th, 2014 at 3:34 pm
word from the bucs is that McCown is our starter, so embrace it and root for our starting QB bucs fans
________________
Nobody said we won’t root for him IF he is the starter.

@ lightningbuc
“Word from the Bucs is that Glennon has a cannon and is the QB of the future, so don’t forget to embrace that as well.”
I haven’t. I’ve gone on record many times saying that I think Glennon could be the starter either next season or the season after that. Feel free to check the archives if you dont believe me.
but I know bucs fans, as soon as some of them dont get there way ie Glennon ends up not becoming the starter like they hoped, its going to be non stop b!tching on here about how much McCown sucks. Just reminding those people is all.
July 10th, 2014 at 4:08 pm
Mike Glennon is going to be a franchise QB for the Bucs, in the future.
Freemanites will be forced to eat crow, once the Cannon steps in and lights up enemy defenses.
July 10th, 2014 at 4:08 pm
Lbuc, did u see my original comment up top? I think I actually feel pretty similar to the way u feel about Glennon….

Polls – WHAT A GREAT IDEA how did I never suggest this lol
I do consider myself a Mike Glennon fan, I see him as a Brady-esque kinda dude who would excel in a system like Big Bad Bellichicks – but the way you paint the Glennon Mob, I don’t consider myself one of those lunatics no.
July 10th, 2014 at 6:01 pm
How about the question do you consider yourself a Josh McCown mob member? I guess the numbers would be reversed from this poll. Or are MG fans the only mob? Or is any mob only a fictional entity? Or can a mob be as little as two members? The poll is fun, but I think we already knew the outcome. MG will be given the chance to sway the anti Glennon mob.

Definitely NOT in the mob. Count me as more of a Glennon skeptic. I’m not a McCown Mob member either. I am skeptical of both options at QB for this team. I will support the team and cheer for them to win no matter who is the starting QB. And yes, I supported Freeman too, as he was the QB of the team for a good long time with some decent games. Label me Freemanite or whatever you want, but I have to say that I saw Freeman show a lot more ability than either of these two we have now. Major difference is that neither of the two we have now are head-cases. So, I’m happy Freeman is gone, I’m just not happy with what we’re left with.

July 10th, 2014 at 9:21 pm
No one is talking about McCown which by the way will be the starter unless he gets injured regardless of how high you wave your MGM banner.
Regardless of who we have on the depth chart it’s still illogical to run around thumping your chest like Glennon has done anything whatsoever to garner such praise/worship/ or attention.
Cause truth is if he did play as amazingly or was the talent some of you made him out be he’d be number one on the depth chart no if ands or buts about it, and he wouldn’t be behind the guy you think so lowly of ;). So how bout you let the guy do something significant in the NFL before you go proclaiming him the next great thing?
And when McCown picks up where he left off JUST LAST SEASON I want you to be the first in line to eat the crow ;). And be sure to understand if Glennon becomes this savior and franchise star some of you are making him out to be I’ll be the first to bow in awe and admit how oh so wrong I was.
Cause even if Glennon gets in as the starter this season you better bet your ass all he’s getting is a chance. Not an endless chain of excuses like our last supposed “franchise QB” got lol.

I don’t care, I just want the team to win. Play one each quarter and the one that did the best, play the rest of the game.
July 11th, 2014 at 12:57 am
I didn’t read all the comments, so if I’m repeating something some else said, I apologize in advance. Brad Johnson was a game manager, MG is not. It’s sad when we haven’t had a QB on the team as good as Brad Johnson since he left. Get off of MGs sack and start asking for a real QB. Joe, I hope you have changed your mind about Manziel. Kinda curious if you would still want the Bucs to take him after everything he has shown.

July 11th, 2014 at 2:16 am
I really do like Mike Glennon. Smart, great attitude….however… I don’t quite understand the logic that if we have a top 5 defense that Mike Glennon would do. Wouldn’t that mean if we had an above average quarterback we would do even better? Why put limits on ourselves. Let’s improve at every position even (especially) QB.
July 11th, 2014 at 3:23 am
Interesting.
Even if you add the undecided to the MGM they are out numbered.
I’m not MGM. Mostly, count me to have the same oppinnion as BamBam.
July 11th, 2014 at 6:49 am
MGM got sucked in by Schiano’s game plan. “Yes lets keep it safe for Glennon and have him throw 4-7 yard passes. Let get his QB rating high with these passes. Then his confidence will stay in tacked.” says General Schiano to Sullivan. This game plan did not show me enough to be a mobber.
I am looking forward to seeing “The Cannon” in preseason without the General breathing down his neck and after some quality coaching since the General left. Preseason will show true colors for many of our old players.
Long Live BQM!!! Bucs QB Mob!!!
any QB!!!

On the fence. Not part of the Mike Glennon mob. Don’t roll with the McCown clan.
July 11th, 2014 at 9:27 am
I wonder how many people that are indifferent to Glennon selected NO because they didn’t want to be labeled a MOB.
If the question had been,
Do You Consider Yourself a Mike Glennon fan?
I wonder how many yes’s there would have been?
July 11th, 2014 at 9:29 am
indifferent was the wrong word …let’s say supportive of Glennon
