Don’t Overblow Evans’ Weight-Loss Challenge
July 3rd, 2014Oh, the horror! Mike Evans says he believes he should lose seven pounds in a hurry. And he’s trying real hard to do it. Break out the infamous rubber shirt.
Today, beat writer Greg Auman, of the Tampa Bay Times, shared his recent chat with Evans about the rookie’s excess fat.
Here’s the TampaBay.com link. NFL.com is even calling Evans out of shape.
Joe is as hypersensitive to all things Bucs as anyone, but Joe simply cannot read seriously into Evans talking about his weight. This is almost silly.
In addition to being a lean guy, Evans is 20-years-old and possibly still growing. He’s surely going to add some man weight, plus he was limited, possibly for the first time in his life, with a hamstring injury suffered during an early spring practice with the Buccaneers.
Joe hopes no Bucs fan starts walking around grumbling about Evans’ commitment, and speculating that he’s been partying too hard with his best friend, swan-hugging Johnny Football.
Evans is just fine.

“swan-hugging” lol …you might as well have said teddybear-squeezin’ too! 🙂

Just saw a vine that showed Evans working out with Brandon Marshall.. Didn’t look overweight at all, and the hamstring was comfortable for him to run on.
The season needs to hurry up so NFL reporting has some real news!

A few days in camp with the Florida Heat should clear that up.

He’s working out with Brandon Marshall in Flotida so how can anyone say anything about his commitment? If anything he should be applauded for his effort. Your not reading anything about Manziel getting ready for training camp so dont compare the two just because they’re friends and former teammates. Come on Joe.. If 1 person questions his commitment don’t start writing like it’s the masses..

never evoked any thoughts of Donald Penn for me!

7 pounds? Anybody else wish they could take a crap so big they dropped a pants size?
July 3rd, 2014 at 11:59 am
If he’s having this problem in September then yeah it’s no good, but who couldn’t stand to lose 7-10 lbs lol

“swan-hugging” Lol.
This is the guy the Joes wanted to QB the Bucs.
Wow.
In their defense they were probably thinking about
the endless media circus’ that could (and probably will)
develop around him and the associated traffic.
I predict that johnnie self-destructs within 2 years.
Write it down.

I thought it was saying the exact opposite of Mike Evans. Dude is trying to refine his craft and get in the best shape of his life in preparation for training camp.
Unlike the Bieber lovin Johnny Wanna Party like Mike Williams!

Everything I read also indicates that HE is the one saying he needs to lose 7 pounds and is working on it. The NFL, Bucs Nation, and Tampa Bay Times are not saying that. That is called accountability for yourself and to your teammates.
Something your boy Johnny knows nothing about right now.

On the contrary Joe, I find it very refreshing. A rookie who is obviously a perfectionist and will settle for nothing but doing whatever it takes to be the best! Too many Bucs players in the past have felt differently. Good on you Mike!

Mike Evans is awesome glad he just wants to play football and get better

Offensive Rookie of the Year, Mike Evans, calling it now.

Overblowing…
Isn’t that what Steve and his sidekick do on this very site with their uncredited stories to get page views?
All ribbing aside this is a non story. 7lbs, that can be lost during TC.
Go Bucs!!!

Am I missing something? There wasn’t even a hint of negativity to that article.
July 3rd, 2014 at 10:43 pm
Just read the NFL.com article as well. Still not even close to being negative. Only repeating what Mike himself has said.
No reading between the lines needed this time Joe.
Nothing to see here.
