“Get Used To It”
May 19th, 2014Joe watched the Sunday night sports shows and the buzz is still humming for Bucs first round draft pick Mike Evans after his crazy Grant Hill-like tomahawk slam of a catch Friday. Honestly, Joe can’t remember such a circus catch in practice.
Well, Evans’ college coach, Kevin Sumlin, leader of the Texas A&M Aggies, has a message for Bucs fans:
Buckle up.
Sumlin is now following various Bucs Twitter feeds to keep tabs on Evans (no, he’s not following Joe. Yet.). One of those feeds belongs to Bucs in-house multimedia guru and the pride of Northwestern, Scott Smith. Friday after practice, Smith Twittered out photos of Evans’ catch and Sumlin retweeted it with a word for Bucs fans.
Get used to it!Rt“@ScottSBucs: So, perhaps you heard that Mike Evans made a KINDA GOOD catch today in practice. pic.twitter.com/No5o5dEdVs”

So there you go Bucs fans. There is an open OTA practice tomorrow and, of course, Joe will be there. So far in the two rookie practices open for media viewing, Evans has made a crazy play each session.
Joe especially liked how Evans tore an interception away from a cornerback Saturday.

A T.O. Without the drama?

He has a temper, so there will be drama.

When the “cannon” steps in that might take his hand clean off.

I could’ve made that catch. A few feet lower and with a Nerf ball.

What interests me are his instincts….somehow apparently he knew the only way he could catch that ball was one-handed….so went up and got it without using raising the other hand at all….that is also incredible.

Seems to Vincent Jackson has been making plays like that his whole career…in games

With the additions of ME and ASJ let’s see how many times teams have the guts to move 8 men in the box this year! Can’t wait to see whether a team thinks they can afford to double VJAX now! If a team goes with a “base defense” can’t wait to see ASJ against a LB!

I saw the video of that catch, and it was crazy. But when thats still the headline 3 days later, we’re in for a looong summer.

I could of made that catch in my youth. Just under 6′ 5 and 175 lbs., I would of been crushed by a tackle into a pile of bone shards.

he might try that one time in a game until he gets crushed in the rib cage. The one handers are best caught on the sidelines unless you run by a defender.

What does that have to do with Evans?

Sounds like Brett Smith is pretty erratic, like Freeman. Boy Freeman would have loved to have this guy make circus catches for him.

Is the OTA open to the public and if so what time?
No. They’re not. Training camp likely will kick off around July 23 at One Buc. –Joe
