Options at Wide Receiver
April 14th, 2014Yes, the Bucs loaded up on defensive players in free agency. The Bucs went from an OK defense to maybe a top-tier defense with Lovie Smith taking over the reigns.
If anyone can build a strong defense, it is Lovie. So Joe believes the defense will be just fine. It is the offense that needs talented bodies.
In Joe’s eyes, there are question marks and holes all over the offense. In order, Joe believes quarterback, offensive line and wide receiver should be targeted at No. 7. Yes, the Bucs signed Josh McCown but the only time McCown showed any semblance of being a good starting quarterback was when he was playing for a quarterback guru and had two of the best receivers in the NFL to throw to.
Josh Norris of Rotoworld.com cut the following video explaining who he thinks the Bucs will target in next month’s draft.

Quarterback should not, and will not, be targeted at 7. It’s WR or OLine, outside shot its Ebron is they fall in love with the idea of using 2 TE sets consistently.

Two of the best Receivers in the NFL to throw to. Jackson will thrive with another big body across from him. And if we want two of the best receiving duo’s in the NFL…I would take the best receiver available…..which would be Evans at 7. I will be SHOCKED SHOCKED SHOCKED if Watkins falls that far. Probably won’t but if he did I would trade down a spot or two to let someone else grab watkins then try and grab Evans. Either way we need TOP talent at that position. BAD!!!!!!!!!

Trade dwn and get beckham. 2nd rd get latimore and a olin help with our two 2nd rd picks or qb 3rd rd go def end or wht ever is needed

Watkins won’t be there at 7. No way. Odell Beckham Jr and Moncrief are my to wr sleepers for bucs.

At first I was a bit hesitant about the Bucs drafting Johnny Mac in the 1st round but after reading the piece at the pewter report on him I have seen the light. There are other tall/speedy receivers in this draft but if John M. falls to the Bucs at the 7th overall pick they should draft him as soon as they can.

Sydney Rice on the market. Great to get him on a one year prove it deal on the cheap. I’m sure he love to come play for Lovie and with Vjax. Id still draft Evans on top of that but that would turn the wide receiver depth from horrible to manageable if they take more than one in the draft.

Smith and Licht aren’t stupid enough to put their jobs on the line for a player that every other team in the NFL says is a question mark. Plus there are other needs way more pressing.

Any combination of Coleman/Bryant/Benjamin (and the stud I keep harping on but don’t want to mention his name because I don’t want it circulated at other sites) will do in this draft as long as Johnny M. is drafted in the 1st will do. I have noticed that other sites have not mentioned this receivers name either and I can’t be the only one who knows but I won’t be the 1st and hope that the Bucs have done their homework

I think we should hire a NSA hacker who loves the Bucs to hack into the draft count down clock so the first six teams forfeit their picks and we get the first pick!

Love your consistency. What makes you think Sammy will fall to 7. Please share. I don’t see him making past 4 / 5 at very latest. Believe me I’d love to see Watkins in a Buc uniform but I don’t see how without moving up. With the shortage of pics and dire needs at qb, Oline and WR I can’t see l&l giving up picks to move up.

@tmaxman
One can dream….Joe dreams of JF…I dream of Sammy…..I agree, not likely, but….he’s my pick if he’s there…I am hoping that some teams trade up for QB and Clowney, Mack & Matthews are picked in the top six….then we have a shot.

Maybe Bucs draft JM as a receiver! Everybody wins Joe.

JOE…..Im truly starting to believe you are a functioning headcase

Tedford rotates lots of guys. There will be four or five receivers getting reps each game. Hopefully Evans falls to us. Russell Shepard may do what T Wright did last year.

Robinson-Devonte Adams-Beckham any two of the three after Jfoot

We wouldn’t be in this mess if Mike Williams was still a Buc. That move was short-sighted and sends up red flags about the judgement of the new regime. Just plain dumb…

Draft Florida’s own Blake “crunch time god” Bortles…
