Photos Of The 2014 NFL Combine
February 26th, 2014Between chasing down NFL contacts for interviews and college prospects for information, Joe was able to snap smartphone photos of the goings-on at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis last week, hosted by the Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium.

“The Professor,” John Clayton, right, and former longtime Penn State defensive coordinator Tom “Scrap” Bradley, left, do a radio hit on a Pittsburgh station. A few hours after Joe took this photo, it was announced Bradley was hired as defensive coordinator for West Virginia. Radio row at the combine grows each year. Joe counted five radio shows from Midwestern NFL cities there, not counting SiriusXM NFL Radio and team-only radio stations. Last year there were only two terrestrial stations.

This was as close as Joe could get to Jadeveon Clowney and even with loudspeakers, Joe couldn’t hear a word he said. He just whispers. Joe twice heard sports reporters holler at Clowney to speak up.

The Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Monument in Indianapolis at night, two blocks from Joe’s hotel. The monument, located in the middle of aptly named “Monument Circle,” is the true center location of the city in the heart of downtown. It honors all Indiana war veterans killed in action prior to World War 1.

Yes, here’s proof. It really does get warm in central Indiana in February (but not for long). The Indiana Convention Center (nee, Hoosier Dome) is just steps from Lucas Oil Stadium and plays a major role in the combine. Often while walking through it to avoid the cold, you can see several players running 40-yard dashes on the carpeted hallways to warm up.

Starbucks doesn’t count as espresso coffee, dude.

Perhaps not. Joe’s not a coffee snob (drinks Folgers at home) and not a beer snob (Bud Light is Joe’s go-to beer).
Joe does know you can request from a Starbucks barista for extra shots of espresso. And they complied (for a price, of course).
