Warren Sapp Challenges Michael Strahan
January 30th, 2014So far, the two biggest stories to come out of New York this week in relation to the Super Bowl have been Marshawn Lynch’s talking/lack of talking, and the brewing fisticuffs between former Bucs great Warren Sapp and former New York Giants defensive end Michael Strahan.
Sapp, hardly a bashful soul, went off on Strahan in front of the assembled Gotham press corps Tuesday saying in no uncertain terms Strahan is not yet worthy of being elected to the Hall of Fame, in no small part because he took advantage of a Brett Favre dive to gain a single-season sack record, which galls Sapp to this day.
Strahan, hearing Sapp’s words, became unglued calling Sapp a “sheep” and later, a “coward.”
As this tennis match continued, the ball was in Sapp’s end of the court when the NFL Network analyst took to the “Jim Rome Show” Wednesday and challenged Strahan to a throw-down for calling Sapp a coward. In talking to Rome, Sapp insisted this battle of the former NFL stars is not about Strahan’s dental structure nor Strahan’s lisp.
Joe thinks this would be wonderful theater if the two got into a hassle on either Strahan’s syndicated show with cutie Kelly Ripa or, better yet, on NFL AM on NFL Network.

Scenario – – – ex-Bucs have big charity event with autographs available for purchase……
Lines to get signatures from Ronde, Brooks, Lynch, Brad Johnson, even Keyshawn are out the door. Sapp has very few people wanting his autograph, so he begins to BITCH LOUDLY that Buc fans are ignorant.
No surprise to me…… I wouldnt walk across the room to meet him. F him and his stupid giggle and his PHONEY persona on TV.

Sapp needs to show some class. I went up to Canton for him last summer and I will again for any Buc that makes the enshrinement. I agree Michael’s record is tainted but what was he supposed to do? Not tackle Cry Baby Brett? There is a reason that Strahan has so many lucrative deals going on compared to Sapp. He knows how to handle himself in the public domain. Other than the QB’s from the “U” most of their alumni have a “classiness” problem in my opinion. It’s too bad Rhonde, Derrick, Tony and Johnnie L didn’t rub off on Warren after all those years. Sapp being a sap. Nothing new hear.

This is not a football story. I don’t give a crap what kinda media drama Sapp has created now.

What’s gotten lost in this story, is that Sapp isn’t saying Strahan doesn’t belong in the HOF. He’s saying that the other guys (Brooks, Jones, etc.) are more qualified.

@RachelWatson’sThong: By spelling Ronde as Rhonde, you’ve lost all credibility son.

Joe, what do you think of a Sapp and Strahan show for NFL AM. Since you are a big guy, I can see you as the moderator between them, not that show would be entertaining and would we learn.
I think you should pitch this.

Should be wouldn’t instead of would

Me personally can’t figure out how Strahan even has a job in broadcasting. With that 2 inch wide gap I can barely understand what he is saying half the time, yet they stick him in front of a mic on Fox. Not only that they give him a morning show to continue with his spit talk. He talks worse than Donald Duck.
It never made any sense to me.

to put the word class in the same sentence with that jabbering clown is just sad….he’s not even good on the NFL network….with his ” what you talkin about willis” delivery and over the top fascial expressions…..once a punk…always a punk

This is one thing I don’t like about the week before the super bowl. All I want to hear is the players and coaches in the game, speaking during media day and the analysts talking about the teams in the game. I don’t care what team a dumb panda, gorilla, fish, or baby picks to win the game. And I don’t care about all these retired folks trying to steal the thunder from the teams that are there.
This game is about the Seahawks and the Broncos. Every thing else is just vegetables you just have to sift through to get to the meat and potatoes.

Media Hype at its best! Sapp only spoke on Strahan’s resume, nothing more, nothing less. However, Sapp takes a juvenile approach by talking about Strahan’s by gap tooth and meeting him somewhere as if it was going to turn into a back alley fight!

Years ago Tom Jackson from ESPN was critical of Sapp’s play and Warren mentioned how LARGE Tom’s lips are…..
THAT is a classic example of how immature he is.
Tom J is a classy guy and was a very good player.

He gave his opinion, he belongs, just not now against those other four.
Big deal? lol

Publicity stunts abound.

Sapp is an attention hog, he knows there are many camera’s and microphones tuning in this week and he’s doing his best to stay on people’s minds, trying to be relevant again, someone was right when talking about UM alumni, and how people like Sapp, Irvin, Winslow, Lewis, all big mouth guys that make others (alumni) look bad by being immature punks…it’s like some family members, you can love ’em, but don’t have to like ’em!
