“Like A Breath Of Fresh Air”

January 9th, 2014

Tears weren’t shed for Greg Schiano

Gerald McCoy was given every opportunity to throw love at Greg Schiano today on the national Jay Mohr Sports show.

McCoy didn’t bite.

“I think a fresh start was needed,” said of the hire of Lovie Smith.

McCoy went on to say a lot of the Bucs’ 2013 troubles were out of Greg Schiano’s control, but of his Bucs teammates, McCoy said, “Everybody I talked to was happy” about the coaching change.

This was telling to Joe, considering McCoy is a positive, loving kind of guy.

Referencing the upcoming NFL Draft, McCoy said “we need a lot of help” and said he’d like to see the Bucs look toward defensive linemen and receivers.

McCoy also said mark him down for 12 sacks next year.

Hmmm…receivers and defensive lineman. Now I am really wondering about those Mike Williams rumors.

  2. Will Says:

Did the d-line as a whole have 12 sacks this yr.?

  3. ander Says:

only the rutgers players probably felt for him in the bucs, oh well at least we discover wright thanks for that schiano.

  4. McBuc Says:

What is the Mike Williams rumors?

  5. Orca Says:

    Yeah, what Mike Williams rumors?

  6. You go Joe Says:

Mike Williams rumors?? What rumors?? Link and sources before starting a fire.

And we do need wr help . underwood did his job well but the rest of the players just weren’t there. Of course vjacks and wright get their honors as they helped out. But the rest of the players disappointed with performance or injuries plague them.

I do believe the coaching scheme, offensively, affected it heavily so a complete idea of what performance was lackluster and what was due to scheme is hard to point out. Also Glennon did miss wide openrreceivers whenever film was reviewed.

  7. Buc1987 Says:

Scotty in Fat Antonio is talking about Mike Williams being too involved with his rap career to care about about football anymore or something along those lines.

  8. Westsidebucsfan Says:

Mike Willaims is trying to be a rapper now from what it looks like on his instagram page. He stays up to all hours of the morning partying with his “CMG” group. Follow him on Instagram and look for yourselves.

  9. FLBoyInDallas Says:

So someone’s looking at pictures, in the offseason no less, on instagram and making up an entire story about Mike Williams losing his commitment to football huh? How stupid do these people have to be, anyway? Got nothing better to do than stir up baseless rumors about a player who’s been nothing but completely professional since entering the NFL. I’ll pass on believing anything such a moron has to say.

  10. PRBucFan Says:

Lol I love how you talk about these rumors as if they are fact.

It’s the offseason and it’s his time off.

But Im sure that means he’s quit his job in the NFL as a WR lol

  11. FLBoyInDallas Says:

And stop hijacking a thread about McCoy and other Bucs’ feelings about supporting Schiano with this ridiculous sh-t.

  12. PRBucFan Says:

    Exactly Dallas

  13. BUCS5547 Says:

12…..That’s it! How’s about 16? Nice round number…1 per game…you can do it big boy!

  14. Hawaiian Buc Says:

Mike Williams has been posting about his rap group during the season, albeit he was on IR. I follow him on Twitter, and he leaves a TON of mysterious, bizarre tweets. By no means does that mean he is not working hard, but you’d be pretty naive to not at least have concerns about his work ethic. He literally tweets about everything he does, yet I haven’t seen him tweet once about how he is working hard during his rehab. Again, that doesn’t mean anything is fact, but it is at minimum something to keep an eye out for. Agree?

  15. PRBucFan Says:

    It’s his personal life

Not for the fans to say how he should be using his instagram lol.

And like you pointed out he was on IR.

Until he comes into One Buc and stops performing like he has every year since he’s been here which earned him his new contract than this is nothing but nonsense.

  16. PRBucFan Says:

Unless he’s going out and being a delinquent or harming himself/others of course.

Or it’s effecting his performance on the field/ there’s a sudden drop off

But I have yet to see any of that.

  17. ander Says:

lol i would only be worried about williams if he comes from surgery and just flat out sucks in training camp other than that it is the offseason. and alot of you guys want manziel as your quarterback so while you follow him on twitter or instagram look out for alot of partying and drinking in the offseason if he gets drafted by the bucs while glennon is at one buc place.

  18. BigMacAttack Says:

I just saw where Stephen Holder went to work for the Indianapolis Star. I’m so glad that idiot is gone. He was a complete Delta Bravo of the highest order.

  19. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

The rapper thing and missing meetings as well as rehab appointments. Was discussed on the radio this morning on 98.7 The Fan. Not supposed to put links on here but you can go to their website and listen to this morning’s podcast.

  20. The_Buc_Realist Says:

Sounds like McCoy is part of the ” Glennon Mob” !

  21. bucfanjeff Says:

Sammy Watkins , if available, is your next Buccaneer.

  22. Chef Paul Says:

What GMC said was WAY worse than what Clayborn said. Not that GMC said anything really bad. So does that mean GMC quit too? Has a crappy attitude? Didn’t buy in?

  23. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    @PRBucFan,

I don’t think he performed too well in his second year after tasting some success his rookie year. He wasn’t doing much this year either after having success his third year. Again, I’m not saying he’s terrible, or even that he’s done anything wrong. As long as he’s performing well, I have no problem with him joining a rap group, clubbing, or having illegitimate children. None of my business. However, can you honestly say that if you were investing millions of dollars in him (just signed to a multi-million dollar contract), you wouldn’t be a little concerned? At least keeping an eye out for him? Of course you would. That’s all I’m saying. Believe me, I’m all about letting these guys have a personal life.

  24. PRBucFan Says:

I think that his second year he was literally double and triple teamed as he was our only receiving threat and our number 1 and that as a sophomore that was not a responsibility he was ready to handle or capable of.

Him and Winslow, I believe Winslow was there than too.

I hear ya, I just don’t think we have been given any reason to speculate on this yet.

By all means if he comes in next season/or doesn’t because of than yea lol it’s open season but till than I just feel it’s premature.

But I do understand where your coming from.

  25. andres Says:

A speed WR.. I hate to say it but MW is becoming the odd man out with his contract size and reduced roll once Tedford sees that Tim Wright footage. I know Wright is a TE but he was lining up in the slot a lot on 3rd downs. MW could be on the bubble coming into camp.

  26. Bucfan#37 Says:

As evidenced by the just past losing season, a healthy Mike Williams will be a great addition back into the Bucs lineup.

  27. BoJim Says:

    Bucfan#37

Yup, need somebody else to throw to beside Vjax and Wright.

  28. GenocideD Says:

Yeah, Mike Williams could be on the bubble… hahahahahahahaha!
OMG, that’s gotta be the stupidest thing I’ve read on here in a long time. pu pu pu pu pu please….

  29. pick6 Says:

the good news is almost every player dominick signed is easily cuttable by year 3 of their deal, so the onus is on them to play up to their contract or find a new employer.
