Brooks, Dungy And Lynch Advance
January 9th, 2014This year’s list of candidates for enshrinement in the Pro Football Hall of Fame was cut down to 15 tonight, and Bucs icons John Lynch, Derrick Brooks and Tony Dungy made the cut.
It is Brooks’ and Dungy’s first year of eligibility.
The “final 15,” plus two old timers, will be voted on before the Super Bowl. There is no set number of men to get in the Hall each year. Between four and seven will be in the 2014 class, and they must earn 80 percent of the vote.
Joe’s actually surprised Lynch made the cut over great Broncos safety Steve Atwater. They were similar players, and Atwater didn’t have nearly the surrounding cast.
Longtime cornerback Aeneas Williams made the final-15, as well. Bucs fans who want Ronde Barber in the Hall of Fame should be hoping Williams makes it. If Williams doesn’t get in, then it’s going to be much tougher for Barber when his time comes.
Raiders great Tim Brown, who finished his career with the Bucs, also is a finalist.

I love Lynch but no way he makes it. Brooks is a shoo in but I’m not quite sure about Dungy. Congrats to them all for getting this far.

Couple notes from the final 15 announcement; If Brooks gets in I think every last Bucs fan owes Mr. Bruschi some crow. I Din’t know Gary Shelton had an uglier twin brother in Houston. Congratulations to Brooks, Lynch and Dungy for getting this far. Its been feeling good to be a Bucs fan the last couple weeks.

Aneas Williams is a HOFer, and so is Ronde.
Williams was unreal for the Rams when the had the greatest show on turf.

Lynch is the man..

NFL Network is not giving our Bucs much love in “first ballot lock” discussions.
Kind of annoying.
They did a poll and Brooks got last on the poll.
BOOOO

I really can’t see back to back Bucs making it. Sapp then….

When you have the greatest defense in a quarter century, a bunch of those players better get in, coaches too.
When in the Super Bowl, your defense scores more points than the opposing team’s offense, players on that defense go to the Hall of Fame.

I thought it was 5 people each year that can get in not counting the old timers

at least 4 and at most 7 Jason

Went last year for Sapp. Will go again for any of these if they make it in. (ALways felt Dungy should have had more then ! Super Bowl with Manning)

If Brooks doesn’t make it, it’s like David not making the pro bowl this year… A crime!!

Brooks – Automatic
Lynch – I actually think he’ll get in this time
Dungy – will come-up short.

Ronde’s number are better than Willams numbers in Arizona I believe.
will be interesting to see if Ronde gets the national love…hope IRA is still around to present Ronde.

I think Brooks gets in.
Dungy was an average coach and might never get in.
Lynch maybe has too many skeletons in his closet.

Average coaches don’t make it this far

Out of the 3, Brooks is a bonafide Hall of Famer. Lynch was a good player and Dungy was a good coach, not great.
