With The Seventh Pick In The 2014 NFL Draft …
December 29th, 2013The Bucs did their part by getting clobbered this afternoon, but none of the other teams jockeying for draft position with Tampa Bay played along.
By Joe’s calculations of various NFL tiebreakers, the Bucs have locked up the seventh overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. The Bucs lost all tiebreakers with fellow 4-12 teams Atlanta, Jacksonville, Oakland and Cleveland.
Will the Bucs get the chance to have Johnny Football searching for a St. Pete beach condo?
December 29th, 2013 at 8:43 pm
In this order:
1. Bridgewater QB
2. Manziel QB
3. Clowny DE
4. Matthews OT
5. Barr LB
6. Kouandijo OT
7. Mack LB
December 29th, 2013 at 8:44 pm
Joe- Do you seriously want this cocky little shit in Tampa?
Being physically built like Russel Wilson does not make one Russel Wilson.
December 29th, 2013 at 8:46 pm
No. Joe just feels like wasting all the hours it takes to write about Manziel just so he can lie to his readers because he doesn’t have anything else better to do.
Guessing Joe has to point out to you that answer was sarcasm.
So the Bucs should get a large quarterback with zero confidence? Stephon Morris is your kinda QB, huh?
December 29th, 2013 at 8:46 pm
Terry,
Is he cocky or confident? I love how people like you who have probably never met the guy want to attack him as a person! What a joke.
December 29th, 2013 at 8:48 pm
I don’t know, running down the field flashing dollar signs, taunting opponents, general douce baggery…
These don’t seem to be the characteristics I would look for in the face of my franchise.
December 29th, 2013 at 8:50 pm
No we are smart enough to realize that you always reply with sarcasm.
We aren’t as stupid as you seem to think 😉
December 29th, 2013 at 8:51 pm
get off johnny’s junk joe, Bortles(a FL boy)>>Johnny doucheball
December 29th, 2013 at 8:51 pm
how do they always lose tie breakers? playoffs or draft!!
December 29th, 2013 at 8:51 pm
Remember how confident Josh Freeman was?………
December 29th, 2013 at 8:52 pm
I don’t follow college football enough to know if Manziel is the real deal or not. I do read the criticisms about him though. My response would be Bress and Wilson are not very tall and seem to do pretty well – I know I wish either of them were the Bucs QB. And based on Manziel’s ability to almost single-handedly beat Alabama, a team that is absolutely loaded with NFL talent, Manziel has to be better than any QB the Bucs have EVER had.
@Joe
love the sarcasm to admin
December 29th, 2013 at 8:52 pm
If Carr is still available at #7 that might be hard pick to pass up (though the thought of LVD, Foster, and Mack in our LB corps is a scary good one).
December 29th, 2013 at 8:53 pm
I look for wins. Johnny Football has a higher chance of bringing those to tampa than pretty much every qb.
Scramble around and throw to VJax and Mike Williams. Worked well for Freeman, will work even better for Manziel.
December 29th, 2013 at 8:55 pm
I want the galloping giraffe back…none of that hope and excitement that Manziel would bring. Manziel didn’t become the first freshman Heisman winner ever by being shy, scared and apologetic.
December 29th, 2013 at 8:55 pm
I sure hope so Joe! I would love to see Johnny Football in a Bucs uniform in 2014. My biggest fear however, is that if the Glazers decide to bring back Schiano next season, Glennon will be the starter and the Bucs will not take a QB until the later rounds.
December 29th, 2013 at 8:55 pm
Hey Joe,
Admin is “Your comment is awaiting moderation.” bc I made fun of him… lol
December 29th, 2013 at 8:56 pm
I’m ready for wholesale changes.
December 29th, 2013 at 8:57 pm
Johnny football will be there for the Bucs in the second round, and I wouldn’t take him then either.
December 29th, 2013 at 8:57 pm
Oh ok so you wouldn’t want a lot of the college stars. Bridgewater flashed the U at Miami last night after his last touchdown taunting them. I have never heard anything bad about him.
But maybe you are ok with having a perineal loser to root for. I’m tired of it and want a winner back in Tampa.
December 29th, 2013 at 8:57 pm
Keep wishing upon a star
Doesn’t matter how many times you post pics of the Manchild.
But hey your allowed to dream I guess.
December 29th, 2013 at 8:58 pm
My preferred guys Watkins, clowney Matthews Barr
December 29th, 2013 at 8:59 pm
Nfl.com has them with 3rd pick. Is this incorrect? http://www.nfl.com/standings?category=league&season=2013-REG
December 29th, 2013 at 8:59 pm
Keep Glennon, bring in a vet to aid in progression, and draft Watkins.
December 29th, 2013 at 9:01 pm
Joe is you want the rich kid, you better PRAY Schiano gets fired. If he’s back, the snobby little puke will not be a Buccaneer. Draft a pass rusher or LEft Tackle, maybe a game breaking WR. Then take a QB in the 2nd.
December 29th, 2013 at 9:02 pm
I am starting to come around on the idea of Manziel as our QB, but do we draft QB if Schiano is back? I personally am not sold on Glennon as the guy, but he does have his Mob. Regardless, if the talent is on the table when you are on the clock, you go get that.
December 29th, 2013 at 9:02 pm
Johnny Football really? Lmao. Anyone remember our 1st Heisman trophy winner? Lmao
December 29th, 2013 at 9:05 pm
So you are saying you wouldn’t want Jameis Winston either?
December 29th, 2013 at 9:07 pm
Watkins or any other receiver will hardly be effective without a QB who can get the ball to them more consistently. A receiver does not touch the ball on every offensive play as a QB does. We need to pick the best QB available. One that can make plays and win occasional games with his own elite play. We need to have this attitude until we get the QB position filled right in future drafts.

Sammmy Watkins Lets get him!
December 29th, 2013 at 9:08 pm
A New Head Coach
December 29th, 2013 at 9:10 pm
We have too many needs….we need to trade down…plenty of great players will still be there….including QBs
December 29th, 2013 at 9:12 pm
Have any of Manziels coaches or players said a bad word about him?
December 29th, 2013 at 9:13 pm
Take Sammie Waltkins or trade down.
December 29th, 2013 at 9:14 pm
Thank you. My, word, let’s ignore how Manziel shredded some of the best coaches and defenses in college football, even as they gameplanned against him and him alone, and let’s focus on him doing moneyfingers or how he celebrates great plays.
Joe hopes the same people knocking Manziel for his enthusiasm were also throwing rocks at Warren Sapp for celebrating tackles when he was at Miami.
December 29th, 2013 at 9:15 pm
What is up with u and Johnny?? You need to realize glennon isn’t the problem!!! Seriously quit drinking that kool-aid
December 29th, 2013 at 9:16 pm
Regardless
The Manchild will be ignored
December 29th, 2013 at 9:18 pm
Except, Warren Sapp is a D-tackle, not your team’s leader.
December 29th, 2013 at 9:22 pm
Uh, oh! Joe is slammed all the time when he writes quarterbacks lead.
So how did Manziel lead the Aggies, with little running attack to speak of and a seive of a defense?
How did Manziel lead when Nick Saban had all offseason to craft a defense to stop him, and got lit up for 460 yards?
Or how did Manziel lead when Bob Stoops had over a month to create a defense to slow him down, and Manziel ran wild on the Sooners for 500+ yards?
Yeah, let’s forget all of Manziel’s accomplishments and worry about how he does the moneyfingers after a touchdown pass. smh
Let’s forget how he literally put a team on his back and worry about Manziel pointing to the scoreboard after a touchdown. smh
December 29th, 2013 at 9:23 pm
@Buc’dup Says:
“What is up with u and Johnny?? You need to realize glennon isn’t the problem!!! Seriously quit drinking that kool-aid”
If you really think Glennon is the answer, you are drinking more than kook-aid
December 29th, 2013 at 9:23 pm
I would like to see Blake Bortles, a FA Vet and Glennon compete for starter in 2014.
December 29th, 2013 at 9:32 pm
17 Million in CAP room, could be more with some restructuring –
http://nfltraderumors.co/2014-nfl-free-agents/
Notable FA QB’s in 2014 – Jay Cutler, Michael Vick, Josh McCown….
Sign one, draft Bortles, Keep Glennon and all three compete for Starter.
December 29th, 2013 at 9:33 pm
Joe just wants to jump in his empty pool after reading those names. 🙁
December 29th, 2013 at 9:34 pm
Joe do you think that the Texans, Jaguars, Raiders and Browns pass on Manziel? I don’t think so, though we can only hope. Though I do believe that Glennon although a great arm lacks the creative ability the above average qb’s seem to possess. Maybe Bortles….
Could we trade up is that a possibility?
December 29th, 2013 at 9:35 pm
Manziel has killer instinct. Glennon is a giraffe and gets eaten by everything
December 29th, 2013 at 9:35 pm
Johnny Football is the truth! I follow this site more than most. I don’t comment often but this is necessary. Joe is spot on with Johnny Football assessment. I really hope Johnny F. Is there at 7. Go bucs

December 29th, 2013 at 9:37 pm
One of those teams will draft Bridgewater. Who knows about the Raiders? The Browns may very well be gunshy about drafting quarterbacks. Bucs might find a trade-up partner.
December 29th, 2013 at 9:38 pm
Micael Johnson AND/OR Greg Hardy in free agency and trade up fir Bridgewater…if trade up doesn’t happen, put eggs in Manziel basket. It’s better than having no basket at all.
December 29th, 2013 at 9:38 pm
Don’t know much about Bortles from UCF, watched his tv games against USF and the win at Louisville. I like the idea of bringing in a home boy though.
December 29th, 2013 at 9:47 pm
Gotta get a LEGITIMATE 3rd Receiver. Justin Tuck or Jared Allen. O and d line depth. Top that with Johnny Football and a healthy Doug Martin.. back in business!
December 29th, 2013 at 9:48 pm
Bortles is the best qb in this draft assuming he comes out…
December 29th, 2013 at 9:51 pm
Like all Buc fans should, I WANT Glennon to be good. But he hasn’t proved out so far. Wasn’t ‘t Glennon outplayed by the Rams’ Clemmons last week? I hope he has great upside, but we have only seen a rookie learning curve so far.
Johnny would be fine by me. However, I expect he will be taken before we draft. We are most likely to go for position players, although I wouldn’t mind seeing us trade down.
But reaching in the first round is how one ends up with a Tannehill. Or a Freeman.
December 29th, 2013 at 9:58 pm
I am with everyone who says draft Sammy Watkins! The kid is game changer which we don’t have on this team right now. I honestly believe that adding Watkins, another good tight end and offensive tackles will even make a mike Sullivan offense look exciting.
December 29th, 2013 at 10:00 pm
No, No, No to Johny “spoiled rotten” Football. I usually agree with Joe, but not on this topic.
December 29th, 2013 at 10:13 pm
Johnny Manziel won’t be there for the 7th pick. Watkins may not either (rams may grab him).
December 29th, 2013 at 10:16 pm
@ Terry, if you don’t think Warren Sapp was a team leader on those great Bucs teams, then I’d say you’ve been snorting the Kool-Aid mix. Manziel is like Freeman in that he can make plays on the move, with the big difference between the two being that Johnny Football has always been a winner. The Bucs would be stupid not to take a guy like that.
December 29th, 2013 at 10:52 pm
For more elaboration, btw:
Jacksonville’s opponents had 129 wins on the season, making them the 3rd pick
Cleveland and Oakland’s opponents both had 131 wins; Cleveland wins tiebreaker due to worse conference record (3-9 vs 4-8)…so Cleveland is 4, and Oakland is 5
Atlanta’s opponents had 141 wins, so they get 6th pick
Tampa Bay’s opponents had 146 wins, so they get 7th pick.
nfl.com had Tampa at the “3rd pick” because they had the teams listed in alphabetical order.
The team whose opponents has the least number of wins while earning the same crappy record logically lost to teams that are not as good; therefore, since they lost to inferior opponents, they merit a higher draft pick.
And that, my friends, is an elaboration on why Joe said we are 7th pick.
December 29th, 2013 at 10:54 pm
BTW, if the Eagles win tonight, the win total against Tampa goes to 147.
December 29th, 2013 at 11:09 pm
I don’t know why anybody doubts Johhny Football As the perfect pick for the bucs. Sure it is way early. Sure there is major holes at Defensive end and 3rd reciever. Mike Glennon can be a great backup for cheap. J.M. Can be built around as the franchise q.b. free never could.
December 30th, 2013 at 2:20 am
Winston is declaring eligible? Sweet. Lmao. Johnny Football lmao no Tim Tebow lmao!
December 30th, 2013 at 2:28 am
Seriously, I do not have to know much football or how to fix it, (above my pay grade) to recognize BAD football when I see it. All I have to do is watch the Bucs play.
December 30th, 2013 at 3:03 am
Joe, do you view Johnny Football as being a Schiano guy?
I don’t. So I’m wondering…if Schiano does not get fired, why do you think the Bucs would pick him? Or are you just voicing who you like at QB?
I’ve thought about it and assuming all of the top 2-3 QBs are gone, I think we still have options.
We can either sign a Free Agent QB…and I do believe we will see a couple more guys cut (like Sanchez for example)…or we can draft a QB in the first or second round.
I’m leaning toward Zach Mettenberger, LSU. He could be had in round 2, and he and Glennon could compete.
Although, if Johnny Manziel is there in the second round, I would be tempted.
December 30th, 2013 at 3:06 am
Wienaman Says
“nfl.com had Tampa at the “3rd pick” because they had the teams listed in alphabetical order.”
Not true. It lists by PCT.
December 30th, 2013 at 3:19 am
Upon further reflection Winston might come available to us next year. If we keep our HC, sucking for another year will be doable.
December 30th, 2013 at 8:23 am
Again, WE R NOT GETTING MANZIEL, unless we trade up for him. I doubt we do that.
December 30th, 2013 at 9:02 am
@ BuccaneerBonzai:
It lists by percent unless two or more teams have the same percent; then it lists by alpha order. Hence why the team order for the five teams with a .250 pct are Atlanta, Cleveland, Jacksonville, Oakland, Tampa, with Wash and Houston below them. In other words, Tampa is listed as the 3rd pick in the draft, while they are actually 7th.
December 31st, 2013 at 12:54 am
Trading up for a QB that is not Peyton Manning is like playing poker with your rent money , maybe you win, if not, well….lmao!
December 31st, 2013 at 1:00 am
Remember, Ryan Leif, Vince Young, Demarcus Russell , Tim Tebow, Rex Grossman… I am sure I am forgetting some but you get the picture, winning COLLEGE qbs, high draft picks.
