Snubbed!
December 27th, 2013Another disappointing day for Bucs fans. Gerald McCoy and Darrelle Revis made the Pro Bowl, but Lavonte David got hosed.
Despite setting a record for linebackers with six sacks and five interceptions, David will stay home and watch on TV. Jimminy Christmas! David is second in the NFL among outside linebackers with 101 solo tackles. What the hell more was the guy supposed to do?
Here are the outside linebackers that beat him out in the NFL’s new format:
Outside linebacker: John Abraham, Cardinals; Ahmad Brooks, 49ers; Tamba Hali, Chiefs; Justin Houston, Chiefs; Robert Mathis, Colts; Terrell Suggs, Ravens.
Ironically, back in September, Revis told Joe and other media that the Pro Bowl would be “rigged” if David didn’t make it.
Joe almost has to agree, though Joe knows the combination fan/player/coaches vote is fair for all.
Sadly, this kind of team happens when your team has a terrible record.
Bucs captain Vincent Jackson, Tampa Bay’s lone hope on the offensive side of the ball, also will stay home after making the Pro Bowl last season.

Bullsh*t

Moderation? I think in this instance my comment is totally reasonable.
December 27th, 2013 at 11:55 pm
Amazingly the rest of the league is underwhelmed with our talent.

There are no real words for this. The silver lining…David came back harder this year after being snubbed last year too. I really don’t know what more he could do…which is fantastic to be saying about a 2nd year player.
I bet there is a fire burning bright in Mr. David’s gut tonight.

The names of outside linebackers who made it to the Pro Bowl sound like it is a popularity contest with some former honored players thrown in. David will eventually get this honor, but should have already. He is all over the field on gameday.
December 28th, 2013 at 12:08 am
It is because people vote on it. The Pro Bowl should go by stats alone, so only the best get in.
And this pro bowl draft is a really dumb idea!
December 28th, 2013 at 12:09 am
At least McCoy did not get snubbed.
December 28th, 2013 at 12:10 am
He’ll still go. VJ was an alternate last year and went. Lavonte will still go to Pro Bowl.
December 28th, 2013 at 12:11 am
btw, if Schiano is fired I would like to suggest Mike Sherman as a replacement. Only one losing season as a head coach and he is skilled at developing qbs…and can call an offense.
No to Jay Gruden. Not enough experience.
December 28th, 2013 at 12:12 am
snook, is david an alt? How do we find out?
December 28th, 2013 at 12:17 am
Only coaches and players deserve to vote. Fans make it a popularity contest.
December 28th, 2013 at 12:19 am
How fans are clueless of opposing teams: dude at the gym huge NIners fan and we talk football. Has no idea who Lavonte was until he came accross as and I quote”guy that lost the game in week 1″.
It’s the way it’s always worked. Revis got in due to his popularity and past play. He wasn’t anywhere near a top flight cb this year.
Sherman hands down is the best cb in football. (Sucks to be Seattle seeing Revis deal)
December 28th, 2013 at 12:22 am
This is why basketball has an All-NBA team selected by people with knowledge, in addition to the All-Star teams/popularity contest. Pro-Bowl is a fun thought, but a joke (much like the game itself).
December 28th, 2013 at 12:29 am
David: 101 solo takles
Kuechly: 88 Solo Tackles
David: 6 sacks
Kuechly: 2 sacks
David: 5 interceptions
Kuechly: 4 interceptions
David: 15 passes defended
Kuechly: 11 passes defended
I could go on, but what’s the point?
December 28th, 2013 at 12:37 am
This is a crock of sh!t, LVD has been great this year but guess if Tampa was a better team overall they’d get recognized more…
December 28th, 2013 at 2:04 am
Just have to win… Bucs players in the past have benefited from the popularity contests. Hell Rhonde almost got in last year and he was not having a pro bowl season. Just have to win.
when does the all-pro team get announced?
December 28th, 2013 at 2:11 am
One half-assed shove of that tulip Geno Smith cost him the nod and sadly sent the Bucs on a downward spiral. The league has become pussified.

BS ********
December 28th, 2013 at 4:55 am
Dark side of democracy people, maybe LVD is getting punished for the Derrick Brooks selection in ’08? Either way the Pro Bowl isn’t even worth watching anymore, but this is a total snub.
December 28th, 2013 at 5:39 am
Anyone says we have to win is BS. Dam browns have 4(5?) Players going to the pro bowl. Winning helps but really?? Going for a 3 -4 scheme hurts David and other LBs for go against DE/LBs. Flawed system and flawed selection. If any coach or player actually looks at David’s videos performance they for sure would want him in their team or wish they something close to him.
Also eff keuchly, he got away with back to back non called holdings. That effer got away with a HUGE call.
The hell with pro bowl and the hell with coaches and players that over looked him. It’s not important to me,but David deserves respect and honors from his fellow NFL players not just from the bucs
December 28th, 2013 at 5:55 am
Very disappointed for arguably our best player. The other “OLB’s” who were selected are really more used as pass rushers, not OLB’s the way LVD plays the position. In the NFC, it looks like it was when in doubt, pick a 49er or Seahawk. Just shows how our talent level is viewed by the public.
December 28th, 2013 at 6:58 am
They’re all one dimensional pass rushers lol. NFL Fail.
December 28th, 2013 at 6:59 am
It stings to see Talib in there when we desperately needed a #2 cb…
December 28th, 2013 at 9:22 am
The Pro Bowl is lame anyway. Have not watched it in years. Players giving half effort joking around on the field while the network shows stock footage of Hawaii scenery. Snooze Fest. I do feel bad for David though not being recognized. He had a heck of a season.
December 28th, 2013 at 10:50 am
Ahmad Brooks???? Ahmad Brooks Really?????
Lavonte David – 137Tackles 6sacks 2FF 5Int
Ahmad Brooks – 57Tackles 8.5 Sacks 1FF 1 Int
John Abraham – 35Tackles 11.5 Sacks 4FF 0 Int
The Pro Bowl is a complete Sham!!!
And Sacks are apparently overated. ill Take LVDs production over those two “Pro Bowlers” anyday
December 28th, 2013 at 1:21 pm
I live in NY (state…NOT city), and I can tell you it’s probably a case of clueless fans only knowing LVD’s name because of a questionable call against the Jets. Much like the typical NY fan hates Schiano and thinks he’s ‘Bush league’ (cue the Shiano haters on the site for the ensuing pile on) not because of two losing seasons or poor second half adjustments, but because he blew up the Giants victory formation two years ago knocking Eli on his butt (they still cry about that play up here!) It’s no wonder that a guy who’s been playing as great as LVD has gets snubbed by idiot fans when all they vote on is name recognition.
December 28th, 2013 at 2:27 pm
They should change the name of the Pro Bowl To the “Fantasy Football Bowl”.
