Losing To Kellen Clemens Is Unacceptable

Joe’s not buying what Darrelle Revis was selling last night
No matter how much Darrelle Revis wants to hype Rams backup quarterback Kellen Clemens, Joe’s not buying it.
Clemens is not a good quarterback. As a starter, he’s one of the worst in the NFL.
Greg Schiano told us yesterday that the Bucs are only two pieces away from being a dominant defense. That means they’re close, and the likes of Clemens should struggle mightily Sunday if Schiano is assessing his team accurately.
Speaking last night on the Buccaneers Radio Network on WDAE-AM 620, Revis talked the talk about his old Jets teammate Clemens. Apparently with a straight face, he expressed concern.
Revis said Clemens and Rams offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer (the former Jets offensive coordinator) might come after him because they know some of Revis’ “tricks” in the secondary. Then Revis talked about how Clemens is great at moving the ball around and people forget he was a second pick with plenty of talent.
Joe couldn’t stomach more of that stuff.
Clemens represents arguably the least dangerous QB the Bucs will face all season. He’s not going to hurt you with his legs, and he will make mistakes.
As Revis noted, the 49ers often lined up Sunday with only one wide receiver to run the ball down the Bucs’ throat. The Bucs knew what was coming — Joe’s words — and still couldn’t stop it.
Look for the Rams to attempt the same thing Sunday. But Clemens will have to make plays, assuming the Bucs offense doesn’t go on a turnover spree. And Clemens should be thwarted, forced into mistakes, picked off.
Clemens can’t be allowed to beat the Bucs, not with his weak stable of receivers. That just can’t happen.

Have to agree with Joe. If the Bucs have a top 10 D and aspire to be top 5, they have to treat Clemens like they did Manuel and the Bills (even though the Rams have a few more weapons)

Clemens is an absolute corpse playing QB. Let’s be honest here, if we can get a lead in this game and get them away from the run in the second half it should result in a win. Clemens is not beating us. I would certainly expect another conservative gameplan from our offense.

There is going to be a lot of heat aimed at the Buc offense this game at the Rams. The Rams will sack Glennon, hopefully he will get back up. The running game or lack thereof will stick out like a sore thumb. Nobody is picking the Bucs to win this game. All signs point to a Bucs loss. Maybe we get our 5th win instead, there is always hope.

As always, this head coach will find ways to lose. The rams have a very good young rb in zac stacey. And they have a pretty good defense as well. With one of the best pass rushers in the league. A good defense and a good running game can cause any team problems. Glennon is terrible in the pocket, he gets sacked far too often. And the bucs defense is typically good against the run, but they are terrible against play action. Glennon is no better than clemons, so we have an equal chance of losing to the rams as the rams have losing to the bucs. Sad but true.

Schiano will pull multiple conservatives moves that cost them the game. Thats if its close. Glazers need move on with HC search NOW!

Two pieces away? That’s not what Schi said prior to the season. This team is an entire coaching staff, GM and QB away from contending for the playoffs.

“Greg Schiano told us yesterday that the Bucs are only two pieces away”… And inexplicably as a credentialed media member you fail to mention that Schiano said he had all pieces for defense. Oh well
Actually, Joe opened the post on that story with the September declaration from Schiano that he had all “components” in place to win. Might want to check your reading skills.–Joe
