Bucs fans can at least crack a little grin tonight at the play of rookie defensive end Will Gholston against the 49ers. He continues to emerge as a real-deal NFL talent over the past month or so.
Today, Gholston was credited for eight tackles, five solo, and Bucs fans saw what his massive frame (6-6, 280) can deliver at 22 years old.
He was batting passes, doing damage in the backfield and succeeding against a stout offensive line. He’s a become a late fourth-round pick worth celebrating.
What’s interesting to Joe is that somebody at One Buc Palace is doing a great job developing this kid, who came in raw and as more of a project out of the draft. So that means the Bucs can develop a defensive end. One could call that evidence that DaQuan Bowers’ demise, and underwhelming production from other Bucs DEs, are more a function of their lacking talent.
But Joe wants to just stay positive on Gholston tonight. The kid is coming on. He’s using those long arms and he looks quicker, likely a function of him getting more comfortable in the defense.
At this rate, Greg Schiano will be predicting a double-digit sack season for him next year. Well, that might not be a good idea.

The prediction is a good idea. Schiano and company will not be coaching here next year!

Barron has “arrived.”
Freeman gives the Bucs the best chance to win.

Gholston was definitely a highlight today. Good pick whoever made it. Schiano will be the Bucs coach next year, no doubt.

Another player in development showing signs of value….at the very least he will provide depth and that’s what you want from your draft picks….looks like the draft has really improved since Schiano got here…..

Except, dumbarse, you forgot the question mark and the first word of the question. But given your minuscule grasp of reading comprehension, the fact you can’t use or don’t understand punctuation doesn’t surprise Joe. You don’t know the difference between a question and a declarative statement.

Gholston was a beast in college, you could just tell he was gonna be good in the pros. The knock on him was disapline, not ability. He gave my Wolverines a hard time every time they played.

Joe, I’ve never commented, but I feel the need to now. You epitomize the definition of douchebag. I’ve never seen a blogger attack his readers quite like you. Anyone who challenges you or disagrees with you gets pummeled. I’ve come to this site multiple times daily for years, but I think I’ve had enough. Get over yourself and grow the hell up. Do what anyone else in your position would generally do. Ignore them. You don’t have to fight every single fight. You obviously have a good thing going, but you need to develop a thicker skin. Who cares if some commenter misquotes you? You don’t have to right every single wrong. Sometimes just being the bigger person is good enough. Everybody here knows you guys are the best at what you do. Just don’t feel like you have to stoop to the level of some idiotic commenters. It’s just not very becoming.

I’ve been very critical of Schiano (I believe rightfully so), but I have to give credit where credit is due. He appears to really know talent, as he has had 2 really good drafts. The problem, however, is that he can’t put said talent together and have them play together as a unit. Although it doesn’t really seem to be his personality, perhaps the best thing for him would be to be a GM. In the two years he’s been here, he hasn’t missed on much. And he deserves a medal alone just for drafting Lavonte David. And yes I know Dominik is the GM, so perhaps I’m giving credit to the wrong person. However, I believe Schiano is at minimum very influential on personnel decisions. Maybe I’m wrong.

Hawaiian. Remember shrank himself said he had. Erg little to do with the draft his first year, which is the draft David came in. He was focused on putting this coaching staff together. I am bit so impressed by the coaching staff.
