Donald Penn vs. Mario Williams
December 6th, 2013Prickly Pete Prisco, Pat Kirwan and Will Brinson break down all things Bucs-Bills, Mike Glennon and more in this CBSSports.com video.
They also touch on the heavyweight matchup of the day, Donald Penn vs. renowned defensive end Mario Williams. Williams has 12 sacks this season but only two in his last five games. Joe’s not going to bet against Penn. Perhaps former Bills defensive coordinator Dave Wannstedt can give Penn some valuable insight.
Bucs fans will be intrigued by the final score predictions.

Why is Prisco always such a di.ck
December 6th, 2013 at 6:52 pm
Don’t want to bet against Penn? I WILL. The hippo on roller skates has been horrid. I’d put up some cash on 2 sacks by Williams.
December 6th, 2013 at 7:10 pm
@Adam L.
My sentiments exactly
December 6th, 2013 at 7:36 pm
I’ve been down on Penn too. Either he is in a slump or he is on the downside of his career. Considering his mileage and age, I’m going with the latter. Bring in some serious competition for next season and then go from there.

@Andrew 1
Time to Catch Taylor Lewan and Release Donald Penn.
December 6th, 2013 at 7:48 pm
@ LUVMYBUCS
Not a bad option, I also like Brandon Scherff from Iowa.
December 6th, 2013 at 8:07 pm
Have a lot of Respect for how Coach Kirk Ferentz runs his program. And Brandon is good prospect in his right. IMHO I just feel Lewan, overall skill set is unmatched. The kid has a some nasty about him. And we need that on our Oline.
Just my thoughts:
(Sign Free Agent)
RG Jon Asamoah
(Draft)
LT-Taylor Lewan
LT/OG-Cedric Ogbuehi
C/OG-Bryan Stork
RT/OG-JaWuan James
LT Taylor Lewan (R)
LG Carl Nicks–Cedric Ogbuehi (R)
C Jeremy Zuttah–Bryan Stork (R)
RG Jon Asamoah (FA)–Gabe Carimi
RT Demar Dotson–JaWuan James (R)
December 6th, 2013 at 8:14 pm
no doubt, Lewan is the better prospect. But if hes gone we’ve got some good options.
December 6th, 2013 at 8:17 pm
Now if we can pick up and additional 2nd round pick or a high 3rd. That TE out IOWA C.J. Fiedorowicz (6-6 265) Would be a great addition to the roster. Great blocking with soft hands. Plus the kid a freaking mammoth. Him and Taylor Lewan would help with that much needed attitude adjustment.
December 6th, 2013 at 8:22 pm
@Andrew 1
Very true
Check out the kid out Texas A&M..Cedric Ogbuehi. He could add, some much needed versatility to our G/ T spot. Similar way Gruden utilized Anthony Davis.
December 6th, 2013 at 8:30 pm
@Andrew 1
Hope Carl Nicks have a great offseason. So that he can be ready to lead our Oline next year. People keep bashing the young man. And most have forgotten he played a couple weeks before the toe injury became unbearable(no doubt he made it worse in the process. Then MRSA this year…good lawd.
Because when he’s health he’s a beast.
December 6th, 2013 at 8:34 pm
Agreed. Somewhere along the way though we gotta pick up a passer rusher. I like Marsh from UCLA in the later rounds. I think thats whats most disappointing about Dom. You can tell his mission since taking over as GM was to get after the QB, and here we are still at the bottom of the league in sacks. He needs to hit on one this draft.
December 6th, 2013 at 8:40 pm
Your right about Nicks. That guy is just a wreaking ball. With his young age I hope he is able to bounce back. He’s guaranteed money next season so I dont think there’s any way we get rid of him.
December 6th, 2013 at 8:56 pm
Andrew 1,
Gotta keep up with the contracts. Nicks guaranteed money paid this year. Remember the early payouts to Jackson and Nicks prior to FA this year. Just jogging your memory!
December 6th, 2013 at 10:00 pm
@ Splengo
My bad. I remember reading somewhere, I thought it was on this site, that he was guaranteed money next season. Must of been wrong info.
December 6th, 2013 at 10:05 pm
In that case the FO might decide to move on. I hope thats not the case.

Marsh is nice. Another sleeper, is the kid out Bloomsburg DE Larry Webster Jr. Comes from his NFL pedigree, you might remember senior played for Miami back in the day. I know he’s a project, which most later round prospect are. But the Kid is like 6’6 runs a 40 in the sub 4.6’s or 4.7’s. Was a pretty damn good Basketball player.
Man I tell you, after watching how Seattle utilized LB K.J. Wright 6′ 4″, 246 lbs( yep same 4th round pick out of Mississippi State) on Grahamn. I can see how molding such a prospect can pay huge dividends down the road.
Simliar to the way Michigan State’s (DC) Pat Narduzzi lines up in the same 4-3 base on almost every got damn down. Matching up one of the bigger linebackers on the TE, then killing you with the zone blitz…smh. They beat the dog……well you know the rest out the the AINTS..
December 6th, 2013 at 10:37 pm
@ LUVMYBUCS
I vaguely remember Webster from the Ravens, I think. I do remember a Nate Webster from the U and bucs lol, but that’s completely different. NFL pedigree is always also plus, might be worth a shot. I hear you about Wright, the guy down right impressive. I’ve always wanted the bucs to go after big athletic LB’s but they prefer the quick undersized variety, which is fine. Michigan State definatly has some talent on D that I would not be opposed to drafting.
December 6th, 2013 at 11:04 pm
Yeah I remember it was Webster, Keith Simms and R-Dub that use to protect Dano back then.
And, yeah I feel you on the athletic LB situation, actually thought Josh Kaddu would have been a nice grab a few years back. Crazy when you think Singleton, Quarles and Gooooooooooch use to battle for PT…smh.
That what makes me frustrated with Dom. Sure he can discover gems like Quarles, Penn, and numerous others from the scrap yard. But then when it comes to slamming the hammer down…..He leaves saying WTF…smh
December 6th, 2013 at 11:20 pm
One position I’m extremely impressed with in this draft is the WR position.
These guys I think are going to be really
Sammy Watkins
Mike Evans
Marqise Lee
Jordan Mathews
Brandin Cooks
Odell Bechham Jr.
Jeremy Gallon
Josh Huff
Solomon Patton
If we could get just 1 of these guy I would be happy. comon Dom make it happen.
December 6th, 2013 at 11:30 pm
I couple others I forgot to much are Brandon Coleman and Norwood from Bama. Just an awesome WR group.
December 6th, 2013 at 11:30 pm

December 7th, 2013 at 12:11 am
It’d be nice for the Bucs to pick up a potentially good slot receiver in the draft, but I think we need to address the O-line and D-line first. You guys have seen how explosive this offense is when the O-line is bulldozing, if we can get that kind of play consistently, the Bucs will be a tougher opponent.
December 7th, 2013 at 12:54 am
@A1 and LMB. Do you 2 want to get a room? Sheesh.
Ha, just breaking chops. I do think we need depth and starting potential on the O Line but we have bigger holes than to draft a whole new O Line. Im not sure I really care which way we decide to go in the draft as long as our 1st rounder is a QB. Not hating on Glennon but Im not in the mob and even if I were, I want a ackup plan as a franchise QB. My concern with Glennon is much like it was with Free. Does he have the potential to adjust and dominate when defenses adjust to him> Im not so sure about that. He could shoot his load early and turn out to be average at best. This is a freakishly deep QB draft but not so much that I would throw Johnny Football or to a lesser extent Aaron Murray out of bed. As we near draft, I think Murray’s stock will rise and put him at the back end of Round 1. There are a lot of QB needy teams. We can’t miss our chance to get a stud franchise guy. Ahem, Johnny Football.
December 7th, 2013 at 2:12 am
Well Joe (s), while your thirst for a small running back at QB makes me sometimes question your sanity, gotta give you props for “not betting against” Penn.
Fans have over stated his troubles to an extreme. Fact is, its the guard play that is doing us in. O line is only as strong as its weakest link. Penn has been around for sometime and has held his own against top tier d ends. Penn isn’t the issue, its the guards. Kudos Joe(s) for seemingly realizing it.

@Cmurda
Lol, watch out

Real talk tho, I hear you about the QB situation. To me it wont matter what we ultimately, decide at the position unless there’s a change in this coaching staff. What direction are we going in as in organization. I keep hearing that we wanna win. Result are what they are.

2013
We could finish the season (4-12). Giving us a winning percentage of what around 35%. Sure the 5yrs prior to 09′ our winning percentage was only around 48%. Even though the previous regime won a Super Bowl, 3 Division Championships, 7yr winning percentage of 51%, and had less money & draft picks to play with.
……Clearly we are going backwards as an organization.
IMHO it’s time for the Glazers to man up and call Gru. He’ll turn this ship around trust. He’ll groom the Isssh out of Glennon, probably bring in 2 veterans that have played in his type of system like Matt Shaub & Michael Vick. Or One Vet, and draft a QB in the later rounds like David Fales, Logan Thomas or Keith Price. Either way Gru will get the best out the talent he’s giving. That’s what innovative thinkers do.
Just please give the man a kick a$$, ornery Defensive Coordinator. So that Gru can Kick a$$ an take name

Good to see some love for C.J. Fiedorowicz. Really the only college football I watch is Iowa games. I want him on our team. I never said anything because I thought I was just being a homer. But clearly you guys know your college football, so your opinion holds weight with me. He doesn’t have the best stats in the world, but his size is perfect and he’s smart. I don’t really think his strengths are utilized to his full potential right now. I think he’ll be great in the pros.
Anyways GO HAWKS!!
