Chucky Loves Glennon Deep-Ball Skill, Mobility

The man fired after consecutive 9-7 seasons with three years left on his Buccaneers contract, Jon Gruden, has been studying all things Bucs-Dolphins in preparation to call tonight’s Monday Night Football madness in Tampa.
And that means Chucky has plenty of opinions to share. He got the ball rolling today on WDAE-AM 620, where Chucky glowed about Mike Glennon.
“Functional mobility, I think that’s the weapon he had that not a lot of people expected,” Gruden said. “He has an excellent passing motion. I think he’s going to be a very good deep ball passer.
“Remember, the Buccaneers are missing some key weapons. They really don’t have a tight end working the middle of the field. They’ve lost their slot receiver, Ogletree, that started the season. And Mike Williams’ absence is huge, let alone the great Doug Martin. But I like the kid. I think he’s got a big upside. I think as his supporting cast improves, so will he.”
Chucky’s usually a stickler for details, Joe’s wondering if the above quote means Chucky isn’t a big fan of Tim Wright and Tiquan Underwood fan.
Of course, the jury’s out on whether Glennon can be a “very good deep ball passer.” (Perhaps Chucky liked the defensive-pass-interference throws to Skye Dawson?) The Bucs are going to have to give Glennon those opportunities.
On Josh Freeman, Chucky kept it simple. He said Freeman doomed himself with “radical inconsistency.”
“When you’re completing 45 percent of your passes, making a quarterback change is an easy thing to do,” Chucky said.

probably should have included that Freeman was radically inconsistent making it to team functions as well.

I’ll be at the game. I also have the game recording. I plan to enjoy the 1st half but specially the halftime show. Then is home to not waste my time and money at the stadium.
Tomorrow, I’ll read about how Glennon was allow to through those deep balls to Dolphin defenders. (And all this while not loosing any sleep)
Once again the coaching will show complete stubbornness and pull another conservative 2nd half with at least one touchdown this time to no avail…
Go Bucs! Dismiss the coaches!!!

It remains to be seen on Glennon deep accuracy. I haven’t noticed our recievers being very open on deep routes…and I don’t think he trusts them to make the play.
He is extremely accurate on short and intermediate passes and I am surprised with his poise and leadership skills….
We are fortunate to be able to see him in 8 more games before we decide whether to draft a QB….
I, for one, am willing to wait on that decision….after all…I think the draft is in April..not November….

I’m still having a tough time reconciling the fact that we dumped “this guy” as head coach ( a case could have been made at the time-I guess ) yet now expect so damn little from Schiano that a win or two might save his job? I’m traveling from Hilliard, Fl today for the game for three reasons. 1) I’m a bucs fan, 2) to see Warren Sapp get his due honor, 3) I’ve known dolphins running back Daniel Thomas since he was 8 years old and attended every pop warner, junior high, high school game he ever played (because my son was on the team), and I can’t wait to finally see him play in the pros, in person. Thankfully, my bucs are only playing for draft position now, so if Daniel has a great game, I can enjoy it.

Glennon has actually gotten out of the pocket (or has been forced out of the pocket more or less) dozens of times since coming in as the starter. People were calling him a tree, but he’s at least tried to extend the play with his legs. He’s not very good with his reads though when it comes to running with the ball, definitely not RGlll or Cam Newton. But probably the best thing about Glennon is that INT stat. He hasn’t thrown many at all since his first start, hopefully it stays that way tonight.

I don’t understand why they don’t at least throw up a jump ball to VJ. The coaches let Free do it all the time; so the coaches are ok with it.
VJ made many circus catches like that and seldom allowed the DB to grab the ball if VJ could not get it. So we have a WR that can do it.
Is it that Glennon is not really that accurate with the deep ball? And this id just more Chucky bs?

Chucky is a great coach. I am a huge fan. But Chucky is the one who pulled the puppet’s strings, aka Bruce Allen, when it came to ALL personnel decisions. He got rid of John McCay so he would have total control.
When Chucky got fired, the Bucs cupboards were BARE of talent; do you not remember what Raheim had to work with? So, NO, I would not want Chucky back bc he would demand total control again, and I think that is bad for any coach to have that kind of power.
Coaches have to win today. GMs build with an eye to the future. It is a clear conflict of interest

Mr. dink and dunk Gruden thinks Glennon has throws a good deep ball. From where did he gets this analogy from the 1-2 deep balls thrown per game?
Still love ya Chucky, but you’d be dinking and dunking too with this rookie and Vjax being the only viable threat. Hell you’d still be dinking and dunking anyways.

Glennon is 22 of 43 with passes 21-30 yards and 33 of 61 with passes 31+ yards.
I’d love to know what Gruden sees that is so great.

I would give anything to have Gruden back as coach. 9-7 looks pretty good right now. Bucs made a big mistake firing him. I thought I die before I got to see the Bucs win the super bowl.

BucBonzai, I’ll take 70% & 54% from a guy making his first five starts with all new personel (most of whom cannot get open past 10 yards anyway). Gruden was referring to his deep ball at NCSt. He obviously needs to improve, and I’m sure he’s working everyday to do so. We’ll find out over the next 8 weeks.
