“A Lot Of Good Stuff On That Tape”

November 4th, 2013

As Antonio Bryant used to like to tell Joe, “Film don’t lie.”

Well, Greg Schiano went to the film of yesterday’s devastating defeat and found plenty of “good stuff.” Schiano said that after dealing with the emotions and disappointment of the loss, his staff saw “a lot of good stuff on that tape” and he addressed a few of those in his afternoon news conference today. There’s nothing groundbreaking in here, but you can listen to every last word from the leader of the New Schiano Order below.

Interestingly, Schiano, among other topics, talks about how the Bucs’ locker room is galvanizing and showing immense character, something Schiano says bodes very well for the second half of the season. Joe can’t wait!

The best thing I got out of that game is, if we play like we did yesterday, there is only about 3 teams that could have beat us. Too bad the Seahawks are one of them.

That’s the first time all season we can say that.

  2. Tampabaybucfan Says:

The Bucs played well enough to win 5 or 6 of the 8 games they lost this season…so there absolutely are some good things on the tape…but it only takes a couple of bad things to lose….Its not what’s on the tape that cost us this game and that is playcalling and scheme in the second half…..

  3. mike Says:

schiano said he was impressed with keith tandy. What game was he watching???
He was bad. That int was huge and a great play… i hope there is more, but he did not look good

  4. Upgrayedd Says:

Now way I’m listening to that. If he wants to speak, He has 60 minutes on Sundays (or Monday Nights) to speak as loud as he f’in wants.

The way the camera caught him calling plays on offense in the second half yesterday, even though he was covering his mouth, its that kind of sht that speaks volumes.

Our assistant coaches were doing just fine in the first half, but he had to get into Schiano-God-Mode and micro-manage the fck out of our offense when he thought we couldnt lose and he could take credit for the victory. Small D*** Syndrome D-bag.

    *No way….

  6. The Dom must go Says:

Score board must not have been on that tape…

  7. bucbucbuc Says:

There’s a lot of good stuff on tape because we’re a talented team. Despite this, we’re STILL 0-8. That’s on the coaches. It gets painfully more obvious as each week passes.

  8. The Dom must go Says:

Wonder if he noticed Mike James on the sideline while watching the tape!

  9. k_bassuka Says:

I’m tired of listening to this clown, besides its not like Schiano and his staff know anything about good football…

  10. MTM Says:

How about reviewing the play calling in crucial situations Greg. Way to micro manage your way to another loss.

  11. Patrick in VA Says:

It’s pretty impressive that he actually around like he believes what he’s saying. Either he’s trying to do a used car salesman job to convince fans and ownership that he’s going to get it straightened out or he really is just delusional

  12. Patrick in VA Says:

    Around – sounds

    @tampabaybucfan
Actually, the Bucs were in 4 of the 8: Jets, Saints, Cards, Seahawks. In the 4th Q vs. Patriots, Eagles, Falcons or Panthers, the Bucs were clearly beaten.

That being said, in the 2nd half they’ve been shutout twice & scored only 36 (10 in the 3Q, 26 in the 4Q) points, compared to the 88 1st half points (30 in 1Q, 58 in 2Q). Putting together a complete game will hopefully earn them a victory, but I stress HOPEFULLY. It seems like it’s always something, whether it’s penalties, turnovers, questionable play-calling, execution on offense or defense, giving up big returns, etc. I know it’s frustrating for the coaches & players, but having a decent 1st half doesn’t cut it. Getting excited & encouraged doesn’t amount to much when you’re still winless.

I admit I probably wouldn’t have given the Bucs much of a shot against the Dolphins prior to Sunday, but it seems more winnable because of their efforts against Seattle. They got Atlanta the week after, who knows about that one? All I know is if this team goes 0-10, that’s Raheem territory, & barring winning the last 6, forget about it, Schiano has to be gone. I like the fact that they’re fighting & they didn’t get killed by Seattle, but we all know what they have to do: WIN.

  14. The Dom must go Says:

Problem is the Glazer boys either believe this guys crap or they just can’t admit they made such a mistake!

  15. Patrick in VA Says:

I think duemig was right today. These guys are playing to not be 0-16. Once we get a win then all bets are off

  16. Eric Says:

Must have been that part when they were playing with themselves at training camp.

    Spectacular at that, they are.

  17. Harry Says:

I know this has nothing to do with Schiano, but what is transpiring with the Dollphins is exciting. Their O-line already sucks – Tanihill has already been getting killed. Now with Martin and Incognito both out they are going to be so bad even Bowers has a chance to get his first sack of the season (he is going to get 10 sacks this season dont ya know). Hell, the Bucs may even have a shot at winning right there on MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL!!!

Maybe even Schiano cant screw this up. Naaaaaawwww, he will.

  18. DomsAdvisor Says:

Schiano is starting to sound like Obama lying about ACA.

  19. Mr. Patrick Says:

The good stuff on tape that I want to see is Schiano getting fired

  20. Buc1987 Says:

How the Bucs can hang with Seattle at Seattle and not beat Zona at home is beyond me. How the Bucs lost to the Jets (LVD) is just pitiful. After Foles went off yesterday with 7 TD’s I can excuse the Eaglets loss. The Saints game, well if Lindell made the FG…then again the Jets beat the Saints yesterday. The Pats loss @ NE is understandable no matter what the final score. The Panthers were hot coming into the Thursday night game so I’ll take that as well uh, whatever. The Falcons game too, ah well whatever it’s at ATL. ATL is the same team that lost to Zona too. Zona also beat the Panthers.

This is the season from hell. It really is. So much crazy stuff circling around our Bucs all season long. So many what if’s and why’s.

Having said all that BS above. I think the Bucs MIGHT go on a 2 game winning streak starting on Monday night. It should be obvious to everyone after Sunday that this team is not giving up and neither is Schiano.

    Finally.

It’s too late for any kind of win streak, the season was over at weeks 3-4.

SOMETHING TELLS ME THOUGH THAT SCHIANO MIGHT PULL OFF A WINNING STREAK TO SECURE HIS JOB FOR NEXT SEASON.

That will piss off many of the Schiano haters and Buc fans alike. A fruitless winning streak will lower the Bucs draft slot and cause the Glazers to think twice about firing Schiano.

(I typed in caps for a bit to grab your attention.)

You sound like just another individual making an ignorant statement.

  22. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ Buccaneer 79

I stated that “if” the Bucs played like they did Sunday vs the Seahawks…they could have won 5 or 6 games…..the key word is “if”….They would have beaten, Jets, Saints, Cards, Falcons or Eagles & Seahawks….
But they didn’t play the way they played Sunday earilier this year.
If they play that way against Miami…they will get their first win.

  23. Buc1987 Says:

“I stated that “if” the Bucs played like they did Sunday vs the Seahawks…they could have won 5 or 6 games…..the key word is “if”….They would have beaten, Jets, Saints, Cards, Falcons or Eagles & Seahawks….”

TBBF exactly the way I’m thinking. It’s a what the hell season. It’s takes the team to go 0-7 to come and play with fire in the 8th game. Well now we know what happened in the Jets and Saints game, those were should have could have, might have won and ifs games.

I get your point though as I’m on the same page with ya after what I saw yesterday. It’s just shame though that it took all this losing to really get them and then they still lose.

On the other hand if they beat the Jets and Saints Freeman is still wearing pewter and red. So who knows what would have happened in the other games?

  24. Buc1987 Says:

and Joe…fix your time zones on post ya silly. We turned the clocks back on Sunday.

  25. Eric Says:

    2-19

That’s the record of teams with a -3 turnover in games this year.

Therein lies the explanation for the “hanging in”.

Same thing happened on the road vs. Green Bay in 2011. Bucs hung in. This is the NFL, it happens!

    Rams did the same thing….

  26. Buc1987 Says:

MOST fans can say a loss is a loss. I say you have to put each loss under a microscope and find out what the hell happened.

  27. Buc1987 Says:

BucsFan68…I’ll withhold my Obama comment to you because it does not belong on this site. I’ll just say this, he lies all the time. He’s a politician.

  28. Oahubuc Says:

If the second half of the season is anything like the second half of games, we have zip to look forward to. #FireSchiano

  29. GABA Says:

    Film dont lie

  30. Upgrayedd Says:

I can’t wait to see how this coach will dead up this game next Monday. Will he call offensive plays again in the second half? Will he creep his players out tuckin them in with red twizzlers and a kiss on the forehead??

OK. Forget Greg. All I want to see for the next 8 games is that Mike Glennon is capable of throwing to a WR…. Over 20 yds… Not to a RB. Not a FB… But an actual WR… Down Field. You Napoleon Dynamite definition of mediocrity.

    Sapp: Raise Hell!

  31. Pete I Says:

Do you guys remember Adam West as Batman? Remember how he took those corny campy lines and made them sound impressive, like he actually believed what he was saying. He was able to act like he really meant it.

Schiano has attended an Adam West teaching seminar and learned from the master of the theater of the absurd.

The difference is Adam West was actually good at what he was doing. Schiano is still only an apprentice.

  32. Capt. Tim Says:

1-14. Oh, yes!! We are on the brink of NFL domination! Everything is looking sooo great for us! I imagine we’ll win out!!
Just a tremendous job by all. If we only played half games, we’d be 4-4!!
    Imagine!!

    Lol

  33. buc4lyfe Says:

stupid idiot admits that we had no negative rush plays but he stopped running the ball…. stupid idiot is the one who decided michael bennett could walk because bowers was a “double digit sack guy” we didnt have goldson and got interceptions from both safeties, no carl nicks and line played excellent, no doug martin and we had over 200 yards….this idiot clearly keeps saying WE DONT KNOW HOW TO WIN but wont admit HE DOESNT KNOW HOW TO WIN. trying to pretend that not getting it done in the second half isnt a common thing with his team since the day he took over!!!! glazers still arent embarrassed enough to fire this guy ok well lets give it another week because why was our team good enough in the first half and not the second? it’s obvious it’s coaching but media is to coward to go at him like the new york media would have….you dont have to hear the quack to know its a duck when it walks by lol whatever that means….this guy is really dreaming to think we dominated that game in the first half but once get get starters back everything will change….even without mike williams we moved the ball, without much help from vjack, i dont know whats more pathetic – that he looks at the tape and is still clueless as to whats going on or that he spends 14-16 hours a day looking at tape and still cant figure it out….HEY SCHIANO MOST REAL NFL HEAD COACHES FIGURE IT OUT IN THE OFFSEASON NOT MIDSEASON….THE PROBLEM IS AS PLAIN AS THE GAP BETWEEN YOUR TEETH
