Who Is Seeking Freeman’s Knowledge?
October 4th, 2013Joe would love to know what future 2013 Bucs opponents are scrambling to sit down Josh Freeman and learn every last detail about the Bucs offense.
Freeman is a free agent; he can do or say what he pleases. And given that the Bucs surely don’t want to confuse Mike Glennon with all kinds of changes to the offense, Freeman could be a very valuable guy to any team lined up to beat the Bucs later this season.
Does anyone think Chip Kelly isn’t finding a way to reach out? Freeman is friends with Cam Newton and the Bucs play the Panthers twice this season. Ol’ No. 5 has a lot of buddies around the NFL.
Given how the Bucs and Freeman parted ways, Joe thinks it’s reasonable to think Freeman would be eager to cooperate and stick it to Greg Schiano. Joe hopes that’s not the case.
October 4th, 2013 at 9:16 am
I don’t think it takes talking to Josh Freeman to figure this offense out.
October 4th, 2013 at 9:17 am
Let’s not confuse the Bucs with the Broncos. The book is out on how to stop the Bucs. Watch what aqib talib and Patrick Peterson picked up on and replicate it. They already did the homework for the teams we’ll be facing. Freeman’s knowledge will only solidify what teams already know
October 4th, 2013 at 9:17 am
If he’s smart he won’t say anything without a contract in hand.
October 4th, 2013 at 9:19 am
He’s already being paid by the Bucs. He should just do informant consulting for each team that the Bucs play every week until a team signs him.
October 4th, 2013 at 9:20 am
Informant = independent
October 4th, 2013 at 9:24 am
Psst, Freeman is the sole reason Chip Kelly is not on the sideline at Ray Jay.
October 4th, 2013 at 9:25 am
meh, bout the only think he knows about our offense is stare down MW and VJAX and hand it off
October 4th, 2013 at 9:26 am
If Josh give away all the secrets we may become the 32nd worst O, Joe “C’MON MAN”
October 4th, 2013 at 9:26 am
Great…..so we can add disloyalty to inconsitancy, lack of mental toughness, ADHD and all the other baggage Josh brings to his new job.
And yes, even though he has been released…it would be disloyal & unethical to help other teams beat the Bucs out of spite.
Now, if someone signs him, that’s another matter….you could excuse and expect him to inform.
October 4th, 2013 at 9:32 am
I think it will be the other way around.
Teams will bring in freeman to learn about the Buc’s offense, and as they are quizzing him in the various plays, Freeman will be shown how the play was supposed to work. That there were open receivers downfield that he could have thrown to if he looked their way, instead on tossing it at Doug Martin’s feet or some coach on the sidelines.
So finally after a year and a half, freeman will know what he was supposed to do.
October 4th, 2013 at 9:37 am
Hilarious, the notion that Freeman understood this offense is absurd.
October 4th, 2013 at 9:40 am
Yea….he could tell them its RUN, RUN, PASS, PUNT!!!
October 4th, 2013 at 9:41 am
Sullivan needs to learn how to get the playmakers the ball in space. Until he can do that, we will continue to suck.
October 4th, 2013 at 9:41 am
Free couldn’t figure it out how can he explain it? That’s one dry well.
October 4th, 2013 at 9:42 am
The Bucs are scrambling to change the playbook now. First, they have to find the damn thing, then there going to have to find a stone mason to carve new stone tablets because Schiano nixed the IPads.
October 4th, 2013 at 9:42 am
@ joseph mamma
Look for Demps to get more touches….
October 4th, 2013 at 9:44 am
Disloyal? He’s not a Buc anymore he has no loyalty to this organization, especially after all that’s happened this season. And Freeman never said he was going to throw out info on the Bucs, this is just an article on JBF that says teams might be interested in his knowledge if they play the Bucs. So how can you add disloyalty when he has yet to commit the heinous crime? And ADHD is baggage? Its not some kind of terminal sickness that highly effects the way he plays. Freeman has had it since he was a kid, did you see people whining about his ADHD in 2010? Besides he is prescribed medication for it so even if it did effect the way he plays football, it tones it down.
October 4th, 2013 at 9:47 am
@tbbf – he was released. His loyalty should end when they showed him the door. He owes them nothing further
October 4th, 2013 at 9:48 am
I’m not to worried. With the Bucs running the most basic offense in all the NFL right now, I don’t think Freeman is needed to figure it out which I’m sad to say as a Buc fan.
October 4th, 2013 at 10:03 am
@ WALKTHEPLANK
Yes, it would be disloyal…like telling on an ex wife or leaving a company and divulging trade secrets.
He is still waiting for $6 mil in termination pay….
Do I think he would do this….hell no. And it is an insult to suggest he would.
October 4th, 2013 at 10:15 am
Lmfao!!!
You’re kidding, right Joe??
It’s the godd^*n Rutgers offense!!
No short or intermediant throws. No TE, no Slot.
Defenses figured it out two years ago! That’s whyy we had the losing streak, that continues thru today
This is a direct quote from NFL X and so expert, Greg Bedard
“And, in what has been a Greg Schiano staple since his Rutgers days, the Buccaneers’ scheme is outdated, unimaginative and too reliant on short plays. The short and intermediate passing game that is so crucial in today’s NFL is essentially nonexistent in Tampa’s system. It’s difficult to win without it. ”
Don’t know what to add to that. This was posted here Wednesday, under “Rutgers offense”.
The idiots will blame whatever QB we have playing. But it’s obvious that the scheme is the Problem
Schianos scheme.
No one has to “reveal” anything!! It’s the offense that lost games to UConn, East Virginia, and other tiny schools!
You should goggle” NFL exec says Shiano is a bully”,
That White Tiger mentioned.
Tells you just how wacko Schiano really is!!’
October 4th, 2013 at 10:29 am
@ Patrick in VA….loyalty is a character trait that you obviously don’t have…No NFL team would appreciate a player randomly going around and helping other teams simply out of spite.
Tampa could have pulled a “Keyshawn” on him and sent him home while keeping him under contract.
October 4th, 2013 at 10:35 am
That’s equivalent to trying to find out how to make a peanut butter & jelly sandwich
October 4th, 2013 at 10:35 am
Please. No one needs Josh to find out how to beat the Buccs. Just have the game close in the 4th quarter and watch the Buccs beat themselves.
October 4th, 2013 at 10:51 am
Ya’ll are stupid as fu ck players have been doing that since the begininng of time. Saying anything without a contract tho? Nah as many friends he has in the nfl he has more in tampa. When the pen hits that contract tho everything is open
October 4th, 2013 at 10:52 am
@ tbbf – his free agent status means exactly that. He’s free to work with any and all teams to better his financial situation if the teams are willing to pay for his services. This once a buc, always a buc approach you think he should have is silly. He’s responsible for doing whatever is best for him because he’s in charge of his career. Loyalty would be applicable if he’d been with the team for 15 years and they had gone above and beyond for him. This was a business decision on the part of the Bucs and now it’s time for Josh to be a business man for himself and make money wherever you can.
October 4th, 2013 at 10:54 am
@Dcbucsfan – well said. Perfect analogy
October 4th, 2013 at 10:55 am
Every team in the league wants to unlock the secrets to this 11 point a game offense.
Nobody has been able to stop it yet.
October 4th, 2013 at 11:00 am
Philly might be the only taker on the schedule. Their defense is about as pitiful as our offense. It’ll be fun to watch the two college coach wunderkinds go head to head to see who can out lose the other
October 4th, 2013 at 11:22 am
Other teams are already sticking it to Schiano. They dont need Freeman’s help.
October 4th, 2013 at 11:27 am
Freeman is Gone and I couldn’t be more happier..He is a spoiled brat and never deserved to be a first round pick. Cleaning Raheems mess up and getting these losers out of here. Love the Bucs and want them to win and will support my team and our head coach unlike a bunch of low class fans around here…Saying to Fire Shiano is about as dumb hiring Raheem!!
October 4th, 2013 at 11:37 am
Get the all 22 film. A 10 year old can tell you what the offense is setting up to do. Just sit, watch and by the second quarter the bucs offense has been figured out. The sad part about that film is it looks the same until the last snap of the game. No adjustments. And then you schiano being stubborn and getting onto his team for running the same play over and over with the same results. On the other hand the defense look amazing. With as much passing that goes on in the league now this defense might top the 2002 championship defense. Not based on stats but execution. They are faster respond quicker. Giving all the new rules to defend the receiver they are doing great (except Goldson) the defense is great the offense is horrible. It’s tony dungy all over again. I loved Dungy but I can’t stand this clown.
October 4th, 2013 at 1:40 pm
Handoff to martin, 2 yards and a cloud of dust. Thats our playbook
October 4th, 2013 at 1:53 pm
There is no ‘schiano offense’. That belongs to Sully. It’s the Giants offense. Coincidence they are 0-4 too? It is however the Schiano defense and Sheridan has said that.
I like the defense but get a new OC.
October 4th, 2013 at 1:55 pm
Your right Vincente, Defense does look amazing…that is all Schiano!!the clown you can’t stand.! give the guy some credit. sure the offense stinks right now but look who we had as our our quarterback. our defense keeps us in games and if Schiano turns the offense around like he did the defense were clearly a championship team..relax we will be fine!!
October 4th, 2013 at 2:20 pm
Bobby,
No.
No!!
If you don’t read anything but your own post- ya stay ignorant.
Try again. Go up and about ten post, and read my post. It has a quote from an unbiased x and o analyst.
It’s the Rutgers offense. Same as the one Schiano has ran unsuccessfully at Rutgers.
God D^*m it!! How hard is it for you guys to read the post??? It was on Joe Bucs 2 damn days ago. Stated CLEARLY that we are Running Schianos offense!!
Don’t be that +*^**< Dumb!!
October 4th, 2013 at 2:48 pm
At Capt. Tim
I found this from 2011 –
http://espn.go.com/blog/bigeast/post/_/id/16919/schiano-cignetti-look-to-fix-rutgers-offense
Schiano wanted a pro-style attack offense at Rutgers. Maybe things could improve if they fire Sully and bring in Cignetti? Or another OC?
October 4th, 2013 at 2:51 pm
HEY Capt Tims says. Who’s offense did we run last year???
October 4th, 2013 at 3:11 pm
ummm…really?
After 4 straight games where NOTHING changed with his offense – right down to the wrong routes being run, false starts, and offensive linemen NOT being able to figure out the SNAP count – someone responsible for writing about the NFL – ACTUALLY thinks ANY other team NEEDS to pick up the phone to ask Josh Freeman what Schiano likes to do in ANY down/distance situation?
I’ll go out on a limb here: NO calls will be made to Freeman about SCHIANO’S OFFENSIVE STRATEGY…
All they have to do is pull up any Rutgers tapes – or any of the FOUR losses this GENIUS has mangled his way through this season.
NO ONE OPPOSING COACH CARES WHAT SCHIANO THINKS HE’S DOING – BECAUSE HE ISN’T DOING ANYTHING IN TAMPA…!
October 4th, 2013 at 5:17 pm
“HEY Capt Tims says. Who’s offense did we run last year???”
I know right!!! Ahaha
Must have been Schiano’s and not Sully’s offense that lead us to the 9th rank than…
Lol what a tool..
October 4th, 2013 at 5:55 pm
PrBucfan,
I usually don’t like talking to you directly,
Because, well, sometimes you are an idiot. And I don’t like to waste my expertise on people who will never understand anything, except lapping at the feet of which ever imbecile is placed in charge.
Number 9 offense sounds good! But what was our Record? What was the offense ranked in the last nine games??
Do you know why? Don’t bother trying to figure it out-you won’t.
As John Lynch pointed out( not gonna identify-just someone smarter than you!), the defense figured out our scheme. That’s why we had that long losing streak- that has continued thru today!
You can watch the tape( well, not YOU!), and you can see the Cbs RB to the spot that Jackson or Williams was headed to. They sit there WAITING on our guys to make their Break!!
They knew our plays to perfection- and were taking away our WRs.
At least last year, we sorta had a TE and Slot Reciever.
This year, Schiano was running the same pathetic offense, except he made it clear that he wasn’t planning to get a TE or Slot.
No short or intermidiate routes. No one attacking the middle of the field. Only two WRs, running deep out routes. ( I know you didn’t understand any of that!)
Freeman immediately asked to be traded out of stalag Buccaneer.
Schiano refused. But drafted the pocket statue he craved. He split practice time between the two. This allowed neither to get a rhythm.
Then the lil Emperor becan his smear campaign, hoping to get Josh to screw up- so the Bucs didn’t have to pay him.
So, tool- let’s see how your slovenly devotion to Schiano pays off! We are 1-11 in our last 12 games. We led 6 of them, with 2 minutes or less left- but the lil Emperors piss poor coaching blew it.
He wasn’t a winner at Rutgers, he won’t win he. And on top of that/ he’s an assh*+e too!
Google”NFL exec says Schiano is a bully”( thanks White Tiger)
See what the rest of the GMs and coaches think about your lil hero
This guy has lost the locker room already. We are just wasting time not firing him
October 4th, 2013 at 6:00 pm
Oh the hypocrites these days
They want to point out how great our offense was last year when worshipping Freeman but than turn around criticize it and how horrible it was when hating on Schiano.
It’s not one way or the other, stop crying.
October 4th, 2013 at 8:59 pm
I’m sorry did you say, “learn the bucs offense?” How complicated is run, run, sacked?
October 5th, 2013 at 4:19 pm
@Capt Tim – you’ve got it locked down. I remember fools defending Bennet and Perkins. You CAN fix stupid, it just takes more patience than I have.
…but if they keep at it…this franchise will help them figure it out.
October 5th, 2013 at 8:09 pm
All he would have to do is hand over the box of crayons and the Mickey Mouse coloring book that Sully is copying from.
