Considering the Bucs offense is more impotent than a Viagra-free Hugh Hefner, it’s downright amazing how the Bucs defense looks on the NFL stat sheets.
Through four weeks of the season, the Bucs are ninth in points allowed per game (17.5), 12th overall yards allowed (332.2 ppg.) and their pass and run defenses are each in the upper half of the league.
“I thought it was probably the most efficient we were defensively since we’ve been here in actually executing our jobs to a man,” Schiano said. “You know, I’ve talked about it often; It’s a team defense we play. It’s reliant on each other doing their jobs. You know it’s never going to be perfect, but it’s much, much better than we’ve been. And we just need to keep improving and understanding what we’re doing.”
On the negative side, Schiano said there was too much poor tackling against the Cardinals.
Joe’s proud of the Bucs defense, but it can only do so much. Also, Schiano’s praise for the Bucs’ efficiency “to a man” makes the Ahmad Black release today that much more curious, especially considering Mark Barron is hurt and Dashon Goldson is a suspension waiting to happen.

Ignoring the jock riding of the Freemanites, this defense has been terrific and has put us in position to win every game. The offense is unfortunately a total disgrace, not even CFL level good, and hence here we are. We need to be average 20 points a game and we’d be 4-0. Just a shameful offense, with plenty of blame to go around.

Ahmad Black’s release was probably a preemptive move.
We are going into the bye week and the Bucs know he would screw up off the field with that much time off.
I do think it was related to off-field activity.
Hopefully, they are bringing in another Safety….maybe Sean Baker or if Grimm hasn’t hooked up…maybe Cody.

Give him praise for the pass rush. Please this team only put pressure when blitzing due to the retarded all day stunts of Schiano. If it wasn’t for the AZ receivers making Ogeltree hands look like a HoF’er last game outcome would’ve been a lot different. Go watch the tape. If it wasn’t for Revis locking one side of the field causing QBs not to look that direction most of the game, this team would’ve been about to break last years pass defense performance…
Schiano sucks… Get him out of here and the Rutgers mob as well…

Schiano need to stop taking credit for individual plays by exceptional athletes on defense and look at how he got outcoached in each of the games they played this year. He pushes the blame on everyone but himself and takes credit for anything good. He needs to go right now before more harm is done here. I’m fed up with him.

I seem to remember a coach who went by the name of Tony Dungy that did exactly that. I guess he is not considered a good head coach (sarcasm).
look we put our faith in a qb who did not come through. for the time being we need to see what we have in Glennon. after the season is over we need to make a decision on who the qb is going to be and it needs to be the right one.

This coaching staff is abysmal! They make absolutely no adjustments – in game, in-week, in-season! They don’t coach to players’ strengths resulting in productive players that could help win being shipped to NE where a real coaching staff demonstrates how to utilize what u discarded.
This clown is worse than Raheem Morris – with this talented roster, I bet Raheem could have made the playoffs. (His crew got 1k yards out of Blount – Schiano got 278 yards out of him).

how do you know that the players he picked are not best for the team? what if a player like Kieth Tandy comes in and plays really well. Schiano picked theses guys because he thought they could help us win. his ultimate goal is to win.

The silver lining in all of this mess has been the defense. Go figure, we go from having a solid offense and horrible pass defense with paltry sack totals to having a horrible offense and a much improved defense.

Why didn’t he start JF5 who would have won that game? Especially since Jf5 had us in a position to win 2 out of 3 games this year.

No one can say Freeman would have won the game last weekend, because he didn’t win the ones before it. 11 pts a game scored by the offense does not make a defense bad because they gave up 12.

Elijah with the wonderful commentary once again. Please explain to me how to can guarantee Freeman would have won that game after leading his offense to just 7 and 3 pts the two games before? That, by my math, is less than the 10 pts scored this week, which still resulted in a loss. You’re assuming that he would have had his offense scoring the 17 pts that they did the first week, which he has a 33% chance of doing. That, sir, is no guarantee.

To me that meant that MG8 was on the same level as JF5
Now, instead of sending our new QB out there with a more sophisticated offensive plan, he sends him out there with a watered down every defender on the field knows whats coming plan. MG8 only attempted 2-3 passes past 25 yards and missed both times. Dinking and dunking to keep his pass% up which he actually failed at, coming in at 55%. He should have been at 65% with the simple throws all day. Freeman would have won that game, plain and simple.

ok… looking at the schedule here, I think we have a realistic chance of winning 6-7 games of our remaining 12 games. that may seem ambitious but thats my opinion. at the very least, I think we win 5 games. its going to be tough considering we lack stability at the most important position obviously, but I think once we get our first win that will get the ball rolling.

look dude, if you have been following my posts at all you would see that I have been a HUGE Freeman supporter and have come to his defense many times, to many times to count. even after all of this I still think the guy is talented. but you have to face the facts, the guy wasnt getting it done and because of it the organization felt like they had to make a change. I support that decision.

last i checked, Freeman does catch passes, kick FGs or pass block….
Hate on Free all you want, but to deny that he wouldn’t have won that game is just wrong on your part. There is no way Free throws that late interception for 2 reasons:
1. I can’t remember the last time Free has thrown the game away at the end when he wasn’t trying to come back from being down.
2. The defense wouldn’t have been stacking the box like they were against Glennon, so the holes probably would’ve been there.
The real question i think that needs to be asked is:
Where was this type of play calling (slants, square in’s, curls, etc) when Freeman was running the ship. THATS what makes the Freeman supporters upset. This game plan w/ Freeman as the QB would’ve DEFINITELY won this game. If at the end of the year you still feel like you don’t want Free as your QB, fine, so be it. You’re the coach and you have that right.
But to hamstring the team on [what seems like] a personal vendetta….thats just unfair to the fans.
BUT….like i said before, at the end of the day, the coaching staff is Team Glennon now, so i guess i have no choice.
When Freeman goes to another team and lights it up, what is the prebuilt excuse? “Oh, look what happens when he has some good coaching” OR “That damn Freeman, he sh!t on us all career and now he wants to show up? eff him”
I’m going to go with the former.

I think it has more to do with being lazy than clever lol. I didnt want to take the time to type out the team names, but if that will satisfy you then I will. I think we beat Carolina on the road, the dolphins, the lions, Carolina again, the bills ( I know they are tough but I think we snag one), the rams, and last but not least a little pay back vs the saints. again at best I think we win 7 and at worst I think we win 5.

Celly, both QBs (Freeman and Glennon) had bad pass protection and drops. Before week 4, the Broncos, Pats, and Chiefs were in the top 6 or 7 in drops, and they seem to be alright. This offensive gameplan was made for Glennon’s strengths (short-to-intermediate routes, reading the defense), which are not Freeman’s strengths (extending plays and throwing downfield). I have said for the last couple of weeks that we either need to change the system to Freeman’s strengths or change the QB to the system the coaches want run. They obviously chose the latter. That still does not mean Freeman would have guaranteed a win last week.

The defense is a bit above averge, but nothing to get excited about.
We were supposed to be going to the playoffs this year. A 12th-ranked defense if paired with a 12th-ranked offense _might_ do that, but also might not.
D is better than 2012 and 2011, but that’s just saying it’s better than stepping barefoot in a big old turd.

Schiano and Company gave up on the season 3 weeks in when they decided to bench Freeman! How in the hell did the powers to be at One Buc Place believe that Glennon gives the Bucs the best chance to win? Glennon is green as a blade of grass, inaccurate long, and about as mobile as my refrigerator. Not the best recipe for wins IMO!
So – the staff has given up on the season and so have I. I will no longer torture myself by watching this train wreck!
The remainder of the season tix will be donated to charity for a tax write-off!
