The Bucs’ Quarterback Crisis
October 20th, 2013Mike Glennon looks like a solid football player. He’s performing admirably after being placed in a brutally tough spot. Glennon’s a third-round pick with limited talent, but he’s maximizing that talent pretty well. The weekly rookie mistakes are understandable.
But the Bucs have a serious crisis at quarterback. You can’t win a Super Bowl with the fourth best quarterback in the division. (Forget for a moment the Bucs have the fourth-best head coach in the NFC South.)
Cam Newton is 24. Matt Ryan is 28. Drew Brees is a healthy 34.
If the Bucs want to win anytime soon, then they need to bag a true franchise quarterback or a rookie with that kind of potential.
Team Glazer could approach that goal in various ways. Joe’s pretty darn sure Greg Schiano will not get a crack at a third QB. Team Glazer could woo a head coach with the promise that the new chief can pick his own QB on his terms. Not every job opening around the league brings that kind of power.
October 20th, 2013 at 9:18 pm
Just cut the schiano cancer like we did the other cancer…..and start with the source scourge DOMINIK!
October 20th, 2013 at 9:21 pm
Btw, can we address the O line crisis?
October 20th, 2013 at 9:21 pm
Yes. Both must go.
After that, we have talent- and a high first round pick- in a QB draft.
That will get a good coaches attention
October 20th, 2013 at 9:21 pm
Maybe the new coach will like Glennon with the way he is playing.
October 20th, 2013 at 9:22 pm
I agree. thats why I think we take a QB in the draft. I like Arron Murray, just throwing that out there.
you gotta hand it to Glennon though, the kids got guts. hes taken some big shots and keeps coming back for more.
October 20th, 2013 at 9:24 pm
Exactly…Glennon at the very worst is a great backup QB….I think its too soon to declare him not good enough…but an opportunity to pick a QB is an attraction for a new coach.
If Glennon is relegated to a backup QB…I don’t think he will whine and cry about it. I think he is very happy to get his chance. He could also be traded as a backup, but I think we keep him.
October 20th, 2013 at 9:24 pm
And I hope Mike Zimmer is topping “the list” by now 😉
October 20th, 2013 at 9:24 pm
A.J. McCarron, Aaron Murray, or Teddy Bridgewater – Any one of them will do great for this team.
October 20th, 2013 at 9:25 pm
There is more to it than QB but after 40 years the franchise needs a 1st ever elite QB more than ever Joe everyone needs to get on board and do our part to land Bridgewater at all costs
October 20th, 2013 at 9:25 pm
There will not be a single veteran QB available this off-season worth adding to the roster in any capacity other than backup. None are “better” than any other QB in the NFC South. All the top QBs have signed long term extensions with their current team. The most likely is Cutler, but if the Bears make the playoffs, it’s highly likely the team will sign him before he becomes a FA (and he’s NOT better than the other QBs in the NFC South).
We could draft a QB, but there is no guarantee. Do we get a Newton or RGIII that has a good year, then drops off? Do we get a (once in a lifetime) Andrew Luck or Peyton Manning type? Do we completely whiff with a Jamarcus Russell type?
Do we stick with Glennon and hope he’s “just good enough not to lose games” and build the rest of the team to win for him? That hasn’t exactly been a proven method of success. Romo is decent, and has had players added all around him and he still can’t seem to win anything. Matt Schaub has been around for years with nothing to show for it and he’s had talent around him as well. Matt Cassell had a pretty good RB/WR and defense, but couldn’t get it done.
Yes, Joe, it’s a dilemma.
October 20th, 2013 at 9:26 pm
Glennon has done well but we need a guy who can be elite.
Please let’s get the first pick.
But for the Love of God don’t let Mark Dominik make it. Or be involved in the new coach selection.
October 20th, 2013 at 9:26 pm
Oh, Glennon isnt going anywhere, thats kids been thrown into a shtstorm and fed shtsandwiches and is taking his lumps pretty good!!!
October 20th, 2013 at 9:35 pm
Problem is the Bucs are picking the worst time in recent years to be needing a QB in the top 5 picks. None of them are worth the risk at that spot.
There isnt a guy out there that you can look at and say he’s an elite prospect. Not Bridgewater, not Boyd, not Murray, not the Alabama or UCLA kid.
October 20th, 2013 at 9:35 pm
Glennon is O K but has not proved anything yet. Looked bad against the Cards then played two incredibly weak secondaries in the Eagles, and Falcons and looked average in both. I don’t see any greatness in his play but I don’t know if that is on him or this inept scheme we run on offense. Either way we totally have to draft a QB in the 1st next season. Bridgewater is probably the best QB prospect so we’ll see.
October 20th, 2013 at 9:36 pm
What about Johnny Football?
October 20th, 2013 at 9:39 pm
I don’t see what is so “limited” about Glennon’s talent. He has a good arm, he is fairly accurate(his deep ball needs work but that will come as he spends more time with the receivers), he can go through progressions/read a defense better than Freeman already, he is more mobile than he was expected to be and he seems to be getting better every week.
He has two tough tests coming up, but I don’t understand why people are already writing him off. I’m assuming it is his draft position, but I think he already looks better than EJ Manuel and Geno Smith who were both drafted before him. And i don’t want to pull the over used Russell Wilson/Tom Brady card because i know for every successful late round QB there are hundreds of failures, but why give up on the kid so soon when he has look pretty good?
October 20th, 2013 at 9:44 pm
Manziel before Teddy. Although I’m afraid of the Heisman jinx. Fans like me went through the Vinny years, so it makes me not like him. I could be wrong though.
October 20th, 2013 at 9:45 pm
I disagree with you ryan. I love what i see from both Bridgewater and Manziel. Can’t say much about Mariota Hundley. But Bridgewater and Manziel are big time prospects in my eyes.
October 20th, 2013 at 9:45 pm
O f course Cam and RGIII were Heisman winners too. Manziel is a whole different animal. I don’t know. I just hope they make the right call.
October 20th, 2013 at 9:47 pm
This is ridiculous. Glennon is a rookie and he’s playing very well. If his O’line could run block at all he’d be lights out. We don’t need a franchise QB and I’m tired of hearing it. Remember, Glennon is a “ROOKIE” and he’s not playing like one. He’s only going to get better. Who in the heck says he has limited skills? He’s the whole package and TBH he is a Matt Ryan clone and will be just as good.
October 20th, 2013 at 9:47 pm
If we don’t have the first pick and Brigewater is selected…we could trade down and still get one of the other QBs….NY won’t need one, Pittsburgh?
Chances are we can get another 2nd round pick.
October 20th, 2013 at 9:48 pm
You can’t just go out and get an established starting QB if there isn’t one available. And every time you draft a rookie QB it’s a gamble. Look how many QB’s have been drafted in the 1st round that ended up being a bust. Plus you don’t know what kind of QB you need until you see who your next coach will be and what kind of offense he runs. And on that note, the Bucs need to hire an offensive minded head coach. The last time they had one of those they won a Superbowl
October 20th, 2013 at 9:48 pm
Keep Glennon and tank 2014 for Famous Jameis!
October 20th, 2013 at 9:49 pm
Manziel has the “it” factor. A winner.
October 20th, 2013 at 9:49 pm
I really don’t know what game you guys are watching. I think Glennon has a huge upside. This kid has improved in every start. He threw no picks today and 2 TD’s and had a huge drive at the end that was torpedoed by penalties. What more do you want from a rookie. If he continues to improve I see no reason why he can’t be elite. He has the arm for it, just not the receivers. It’s tough to only have one legit target.
October 20th, 2013 at 9:51 pm
Look, I say set up the O line and get ready for Jameis when he comes out! Glennon will be servicable by then and can help the rook out……you know Im right, lol.
October 20th, 2013 at 9:52 pm
I don’t see ‘elite’ in this draft. Teddy is not and Murray will be a career backup. Starting to get more comfortable with building around Glennon.
October 20th, 2013 at 9:52 pm
Bobby. Show me the throws where Glennon shows huge upside. I don’t see it.
October 20th, 2013 at 9:52 pm
Im with you on that Bobby.
October 20th, 2013 at 9:53 pm
Murray is not even top 5 prospect in this draft.
October 20th, 2013 at 9:53 pm
Jamies is like LeBron James he doesn’t need to play college ball. In 2 years Jameis will be a football God coming out of college. He’s like Roy Hobbs a natural. 6-4 230 pounds of lasers and can run like the wind.
October 20th, 2013 at 9:55 pm
I want him 87, I want him for us so badly…..
October 20th, 2013 at 9:59 pm
What was Peyton Manning’s rookie record and stats like?
October 20th, 2013 at 10:00 pm
Glennon can follow Schiano to the next NFL team where he is hired to be the head coach.
About the same time all the ice caps melt.
October 20th, 2013 at 10:00 pm
When should I officially start cheering to lose? Bridgewater or bust.
October 20th, 2013 at 10:01 pm
Max I can see him in red and pewter.
October 20th, 2013 at 10:02 pm
If the Bucs keep Schiano for another season they might be able to get Jameis.
October 20th, 2013 at 10:02 pm
Winston is a pipe dream. No way the Bucs are in position to get him unless we fire sale our whole team and literally do not try to win at all.
October 20th, 2013 at 10:06 pm
Gv…that’s what I’m saying tank 2014 too.
October 20th, 2013 at 10:06 pm
wow can’t say i’m not surprised you SEC lovers are not even mentioning the most dynamic qb in college in Marcus Mariota. Take the SEC glasses off please, maybe stay up a little later and actually watch him
October 20th, 2013 at 10:09 pm
Forget about Winston. Kid is nineteen and is not eligible to play in the NFL until 2015.
October 20th, 2013 at 10:10 pm
I mentioned Mariota yesterday. That’s the one I like this year. I have to see the college season play out though.
October 20th, 2013 at 10:11 pm
@Destined, Im SEC every which way, I like Mariota too, and also Blake Bortles!! But we need Top Line O line help….and TE/WR
October 20th, 2013 at 10:12 pm
Yes Splengo I want them to take him in the 2015 draft.
October 20th, 2013 at 10:15 pm
Mariota is a hell of a player.
October 20th, 2013 at 10:15 pm
@destined. Just live in the east coast dont catch a lot of west games. Also i doubt he is better than Winston. Winston looks so damn smooth.
October 20th, 2013 at 10:17 pm
@87 I would love Winston. Just not going to happen. Glazers can not take more losing and most fans myself included can not either. We need some playoffs ASAP and tanking ANOTHER year would be such a waste
October 20th, 2013 at 10:17 pm
Winston is worth losing another season…hey wth anyways.
October 20th, 2013 at 10:18 pm
If we can’t get Bridgewater we should trade down a few picks and pick up one of the 4Ms Mariota, McCarron, Murray or Manziel.
One of these will be available in the middle or late 1st round or perhaps the top of the 2nd.
We can pick up an extra 2nd round pick get a OT & QB….
Let the new QB compete with Glennon…..
October 20th, 2013 at 10:18 pm
@Eric
Johnny Football is going to bust HARD in the NFL. I’m more interested in his wide receiver, #13 Evans. It seems like he is always making plays to bail Manziel out of bad situations.
October 20th, 2013 at 10:18 pm
Gv…I’d hate it as much as you believe me, but If I know that kid is out there, I’ll deal with it.
October 20th, 2013 at 10:19 pm
Who says we have to tank for Jameis? Ever heard of trading 😉
October 20th, 2013 at 10:20 pm
See that’s why I’m afraid of Manziel. I want to believe in him though. It’s just tough after the Vinny ordeal.
October 20th, 2013 at 10:21 pm
There ya go Max…that’s the thinking.
October 20th, 2013 at 10:22 pm
I don’t want them to take Teddy anyways TBBF.
October 20th, 2013 at 10:22 pm
Madmax. Winston is not some unknown QB every team that has questions at QB will be looking at the guy it would probably take some 3 first round picks + to get him if he continues to play at this rate. Just not worth it when we have a lot of areas to focus on for the future.
October 20th, 2013 at 10:23 pm
I think the safe bet is Mariota.
October 20th, 2013 at 10:24 pm
@Buc1987
I’m telling you, watch the A&M games, #13 is always on the receiving end of the big plays, he’s a nice blend of size and speed, pretty reliable hands too. Plus he has a knack for breaking tackles and earning YAC. In my opinion, he makes Manziel appear better than he really is.
October 20th, 2013 at 10:24 pm
Btw, wheres hawaiian at with his boyfriend love making fantasies….oh, thats right, he’s playing dead….
that dude has weird thoughts…smdfh :-/
October 20th, 2013 at 10:26 pm
Walter I’ve watched him play. I guess I am going more by last season for Manziel. Which is wrong to do anyways. Mariota then, it’s settle for me.
October 20th, 2013 at 10:27 pm
Max…I’m sure he’s lurking around.
October 20th, 2013 at 10:28 pm
Is Jake Mathews OT- Texas A&M of relation to former Oiler and Titan HOF Bruce Mathews?
If so, maybe he is our guy?
If Glennon plays his way into a starting spot, draft Clowney or Mathews.
October 20th, 2013 at 10:28 pm
Winston is like Lebron James
Spoken like a true homer ahahaha
October 20th, 2013 at 10:28 pm
You’re right GV, there will be PLENTY of competition for him…..but at the rate the Glazers are keeping pace, we’ll be very close in line 😉
October 20th, 2013 at 10:28 pm
Huh? What’s with the “Glennon shows potential?
What was that stat they showed- he has a 12.6 QB rating in the fourth quarter?!?!
A 12?? I didn’t think you could score that low.
He’s started 3 games. Against the 31 st ranked defense, or a defense starting 3 rd stringers and unsigned rookie FAs.
He has not been in a position to win any if them , and totally collapses in the fourth quarter. His accuracy is bad. Like always. He has tons on weapons on offense. If he had any talent to scare a defense- then the running game would work.
He doesn’t. They put nine guys in the box( as shown several times tonight), and dare him to beat them. He can’t. They know it. I know it, and most everyone here knows it.
So, what in the world could you possibly like about him?? He loses quietly, without any drama at the end??
He has nothing going on, that would lead you to believe he will win a game he should win. Much less against a tough defense.
Wait til he plays a couple decent teams. Then you’ll see the difference between “backup” and a real QB.
Until then- stop trying to make this kid look like he has talent. Several of you are trying to convince someone, because you were so horribly wrong about him.
He won’t”win out”. He won’t ” lead us to the playoffs” he won’t” improve this team immediately, and get us in the playoff hunt!” As was said by several of you,
He will be bad- as I said, and lose every game. Stop the nonsense
October 20th, 2013 at 10:30 pm
Thats his Son SteveK
October 20th, 2013 at 10:31 pm
PRBuc…when is the steamroll coming in 2 weeks? 2 weeks until Jameis does a LeBron on UM?
October 20th, 2013 at 10:32 pm
@Buc1987
I’m not really sure who I’d take, none of the QBs in this draft really strike me as a sure-fire top notch QB, they all have question marks. I wish Jameis Winston was eligible this year, I feel like he’s already the best QB in College Football, kinda reminds me of a slightly smaller, faster, more accurate Freeman, however, Jameis has a fire to him.
October 20th, 2013 at 10:33 pm
@Capt. he’s a rookie, if you cant figure out that “nonsense” then Im sorry for you and your wasted time here on the subject of him…. when its all about the house cleaning instead, but go ahead…..
October 20th, 2013 at 10:33 pm
You can see already that Famous Jameis has it!
Huge are, quick decision making, great vision, good mobility. Confidence, speed
As a freshman! If his ego doesn’t get in the way- he will be a franchise QB
Many mock drafts have us taking Tajh Boyd
Um, no thanks. Reminds me of Byron Leftwich.
October 20th, 2013 at 10:34 pm
Are we talking about the same guy?
The same Mike Glennon who over the last three games has a better passer rating (77) than Tom Brady(75), Eli Manning(64), or Carson Palmer(69)?
The same Mike Glennon who is averaging 240 yards per game, better than Andrew Luck, Jay Cutler, or Cam Newton?
The same Mike Glennon who over the last three games has shown steady improvement and just today threw for 2 touchdowns with NO interceptions?
October 20th, 2013 at 10:35 pm
Are you still whining about Glennon 🙁
Freeman was worse 😉
@1987
It’s going to be a fun game.
Don’t sleep on us a haha
October 20th, 2013 at 10:36 pm
Walter you did not just put Freeman and Winston in the same sentence did you…
Please tell me you didn’t just do that hahaha
Come on dude, WOW lolol
October 20th, 2013 at 10:37 pm
Hell no to Boyd…uhg!!! Freeman round 2…..
October 20th, 2013 at 10:39 pm
@PRBucFan
lol I knew I was going to catch some criticism for that. I was merely saying that they do have a similar body type and skill sets, that’s all I meant. I like that model of QB, Nice and tall, with some meat on their bones, cannon arms, with some mobility but a preference to keep their eyes downfield. Thats a dangerous QB.
October 20th, 2013 at 10:40 pm
I like Winston actually!
October 20th, 2013 at 10:40 pm
Yea Boyd crumbles under pressure the same way
October 20th, 2013 at 10:43 pm
I gotcha Walter
I like him alot to but he’s the QB of my my nemesis FSU
October 20th, 2013 at 10:43 pm
too*
October 20th, 2013 at 10:44 pm
All this Bridgewater lovefest I guess none of you saw the game last friday as Bridgewater was outplayed by Blake Bortles, UCF QB. Bortles has skills, we need help all over the field, O-line, DE, TE, 3rdWR,….
October 20th, 2013 at 10:45 pm
If undisciplined is the problem. How does a coach discipline a veteran O-line and V Jackson for a false start? How do you discipline these veterans? What does Schiano have to teach them in practice that they should already know?
October 20th, 2013 at 10:48 pm
@PRBucFan
Ahh I see. I don’t really have a college team, I only watch college football to see some of the new young talent that will be going to the NFL.
October 20th, 2013 at 10:49 pm
Menziel has ripped up the crimson tide’s pro style defense twice, and not all his passes were to number 13. That gives him major cred in my book. He has not padded his stats vs. the sisters of the poor.
Go get Johnny Football!
October 20th, 2013 at 10:52 pm
2 votes for Johnny Football. If unavailable, I want AJ McCarron and a new coaching staff.
October 20th, 2013 at 10:52 pm
All Glennon has done is get better over 3 starts, he should be 3-0 at this point, there was no reason to lose the ARI game, and he played darn good games the past 2 weeks. He has completed 60 and 59% of the past two weeks (something freeman never hit from week 9 to his release).
Glennon also was coached by the same coaches that Matt Ryan had in college so you know he has the skills and mental ability to play the position and he was taught well. and Cam Newton has won exactly what in the NFL that shows you he is a Super Bowl QB?
October 20th, 2013 at 10:59 pm
@Eric
If you go back and examine the week 3 matchup between Alabama and A&M, you’ll see that Evans caught well over half of the yards that Manziel threw, 279 yards. The second leading receiver? 66 yards. Manziel relies on Evans to win jump ball situations time and time again, he’s his blanket. If all else fails, Manziel stretches the play with his legs and then throws it up to Evans.
October 20th, 2013 at 11:00 pm
The reason Glennon is starting it to see how he does. Let’s let the season play out before we decide how good or bad he really is.
October 20th, 2013 at 11:01 pm
Time will tell if Glennon is an NFL caliber starting QB, but today he played well enough to win
October 20th, 2013 at 11:01 pm
Another QB that is getting overlooked and will get overlooked is Stephen Morris
Great mobility, has a huge arm, and is dead accurate
A little bit of an injury concern I think.
Interesting guy to watch.
October 20th, 2013 at 11:03 pm
So.. regardless of how he plays or develops, he is not “worthy” simply because Schiano drafted him? I see! I took the liberty of looking at a comparison of Free’s 3 games and Glennon’s 3 games, and Glennon was significantly better in Every stat, comp. %, TD to Int. %, QB rating,.. and yet I don’t remember hearing you say that Free was “not a franchise QB”!! Hypocrite! GO BUCS!
October 20th, 2013 at 11:04 pm
Of course I am not saying for us to draft him cause there’s other more certain prospects but I think he will do well in the NFL.
October 20th, 2013 at 11:05 pm
Glennon has the same bad line, same no run game but has the highest scores on the board. These were more than enough to win. Plus there was one called back today on a perfect pass (imagine that) because of a dumb ass lineman that should be on the bench.
But you think some great #1 ranked draft QB is going to come out and take us to the Super Bowl Now. Good luck with that.
The only Crisis here is those missing Freeman that still think he was going to take us there.
October 20th, 2013 at 11:05 pm
“I took the liberty of looking at a comparison of Free’s 3 games and Glennon’s 3 games, and Glennon was significantly better in Every stat, comp. %, TD to Int. %, QB rating,.. and yet I don’t remember hearing you say that Free was “not a franchise QB”!! Hypocrite! GO BUCS!”
Well said
October 20th, 2013 at 11:08 pm
@Joe. Compare Glennon to any rookie in his 3rd game. I could care less if that person was a first round. I thought you new a thing or two about football but I am beginning to wonder. Glennon can make all the throws. Only Payton can make all the throws. The only reason we have a QB crisis is the media has created one. The worst thing the Bucs could do would be to spend a high draft choice on a so called franchise QB. We need a left tackle, a center, a right and left guard and a rt tackle. Oh by the way, we need an outside LB and 2 corners to be groomed. And by the way, we need a tight end.
I never thought i would see you buy into this BS.
THE LAST THING WE NEED IS A QB.
If you say so. –Joe
October 20th, 2013 at 11:25 pm
It doesn’t matter who plays QB if nobody blocks for him. We need Oline help bad. Dotson is not a starting caliber tackle. Penn is getting long in the tooth. Zuttah has lost his edge. Trade Joseph now while he has value and to the Falcons. I would see what you can get for any offensive player other than Martin. Mike Williams could fetch a high pick. Who knows if Carl Nicks will ever play again.
October 20th, 2013 at 11:27 pm
I know we’re having some fun here…picking another QB….but lets face it…we can’t pick now….I think this conversation really needs to take place in Dec or January….by then we will have a much better read on Glennon…who knows…he may surprise us.
At the very least if we want a QB….we should trade down and pick up an extra high draft pick….the number 2 or 3 pick will be very valuable….I still don’t think we’ll get the 1st pick.
October 20th, 2013 at 11:27 pm
Lol now we’re happy
Losing games because
Glennon is completing 60%
Some of u are funny
October 20th, 2013 at 11:32 pm
Madmax-
So sick of apologist.
Can he play, or not??!!
We were 0-8, and ranked last in the league in offense. We were on an 0-11 losing streak!
Freeman started against Green Bay, and won. He won two more that year.
The next year he won 10, and went to the Probowl.
Glennon hasn’t won, hasn’t come close to winning.
Good QBs win. Period!! They don’t need clueless fans making excuses for them, or saying they lose nice!
They win- or they suck! Glennon is not going to be this teams QB next year.
October 20th, 2013 at 11:34 pm
TBBF…I think the Bucs are going 0-16 now.
October 20th, 2013 at 11:35 pm
Please bring Johnny Football!!!
October 20th, 2013 at 11:37 pm
Since no one answered I’ll ask again.
If undisciplined is the problem. How does a coach discipline a veteran O-line and V Jackson for a false start? How do you discipline these veterans? What does Schiano have to teach them in practice that they should already know?
October 20th, 2013 at 11:39 pm
PrBuc and pastheBuc.
Morons. Freeman won his first start, broke an 11 game losing streak. Won two more out if his 8 starts.
Glennon has come close to winning a game. Probably won’t win one all year. He’s as talentless, as you two are rediculous!
We all remember your stupid” winning with Glennon” nonsense you were throwing around.
He sucks, you’re clueless. Move on. Trying to make a guy, who has lost badly to horrible teams, look good-
Well, it really doesn’t affect anything. You are clueless, and have no credibility.
Keep telling everyone how pretty Glennon loses. You can’t look any more ignorant.
October 20th, 2013 at 11:43 pm
Lieutenant Tim
You will be able to see your hero tomorrow night….but I’m rooting against him because I want NY to win….we need to knock them off as competition for the top draft pick.
October 20th, 2013 at 11:43 pm
Idahobucfan-
No potatoe head! He’s not worthy- because he can’t beat horrible teams. He’s a loser, and hasn’t come close to a win!
Ok?
October 20th, 2013 at 11:45 pm
Hidy Ho neighbor my my you are an angry lil man Tim.

Payton Manning’s first three games: two touchdowns; eight interceptions. His record his first year was 3-13 and he had only three games with a quarterback rating over 90which is what Glennon achieved today. Joe, what nonsense to say this guy has little native talent. He was among the top 5 recruited quarterbacks coming out of high school and every pro scout said he had an extraordinary football IQ. He is going to have some bad games, but if you think drafting a qb in the first round is automatic, forget it. Let’s face it, he’s working behind one of the worst offensive lines in the league. Still, he’s making quick decisions, throwing with accuracy, except on the deep balls and with a lot of poise.
October 20th, 2013 at 11:46 pm
Tampabaybucfan.
I don’t care if he wins or loses. He isn’t here. .
That’s a lie, I want him to win- just to futher heat up Schianos situation!
But giants winning is better for my team. Because we don’t have a decent QB, and will have to draft one.
October 20th, 2013 at 11:47 pm
No.
I am an angry big man
October 20th, 2013 at 11:47 pm
not really taking a side hear but freeman played against the jets defense, a heathly pats defense, and an aggressive saints defense. Glennon played against a cardinals defense missing 3 starting LB’s, a terrible eagles and falcons defense
October 20th, 2013 at 11:50 pm
Tim
Freeman is history, gone, departed, terminated, through, finished, vanished, elsewhere, SYONARA, ADIOS, AU-REVOIR, Auf WIEDERSHEN, CHEERIO, ADJO, ANTIO, DO SVIDANIYA, HASTA LA VISTA, BYE-BYE…. SO LONG
Of course, Schiano would say CAIO!!!
Yon don’t need any help getting rid of Schiano but Freeman producing elsewhere may end up being Dominick’s demise.
October 21st, 2013 at 12:03 am
So Josh Freebow gets to make his first start with his new team against a winless team with a horrible secondary that will be missing it’s best pass rusher on National TV. Nice
October 21st, 2013 at 12:17 am
Stop living in the past Freeman sucks
Worse the Glennon 😉
October 21st, 2013 at 12:19 am
If Glennon is talentless I don’t know what that says about Freeman…
🙁
No wonder you hate him so much! Ahahahaha
October 21st, 2013 at 12:22 am
We dont need another bridgewater on this team.
October 21st, 2013 at 12:23 am
Oh and Freeman would have done worse…
Did I say that yet?
So take whatever your bitching about that you didn’t like about Glennon an multiply it by 10 and you have Freeman.
I’m sorry were we winning with Freeman? LoL
October 21st, 2013 at 12:25 am
Josh Freebow’s game plan for Monday night – Hand off to Peterson, Hand off to Peterson, Throw a Pic, Repeat
October 21st, 2013 at 12:28 am
goodnight lol
October 21st, 2013 at 12:36 am
Oh please stop with comparing Glennon in his first 3 games to Peyton Manning. Glennon couldn’t dream of playing as well as Manning in college, much less the NFL.
Also, stop with the “he played well enough to win”. If he had, we’d be 3-3, not 0-6. He couldn’t even get us a lead in the 4th quarter. His 4th quarter rating is horrid. He is one QB I would never count on getting us a win unless we had a significant lead at the half.
He can barely lead a td drive of 50 yards. If the D doesn’t get a turnover or special teams a return, expect a fg. His “accurate” passes that are supposed to get YAC are more likely to get our WRs killed. He’s not going through progressions, he’s following VJ across the field… It’s called a crossing route.
Get a clue, watch the game again, I will. His mechanics are not good. He will not improve enough to come close to Brady or Manning or even Wilson. If you won’t see the truth, I’ll have to show it it another long winded post…
October 21st, 2013 at 12:42 am
Oh Im clueless now Capt? Ok, FK you too!!
October 21st, 2013 at 12:44 am
I’ll say again, Giants get their first win…..and I hope Capt is sporting that new Vikes jersey while boating…..
October 21st, 2013 at 12:45 am
Capt Tim,
You are a idiot! How do you say Freeman first game was won when Glennin had surpassed Freeman in ine year with his attributes (looking off defenders and going through progressions).
You can’t knock us for giving the rookie credit for playing decent in a very bad situation. He has better pedigree than Freeman and that’s not saying much.
No one cares about him anyway!
October 21st, 2013 at 12:50 am
What game was every one watching here! I thought Glennon was impressive and has a bright future!! He completed around 60% of his passes 2 tds, No interceptions- showing better pocket awareness and can actually run! Did anyone notice how many drops he had? If the Bucs win this game everyone talks about how impressive and poised he he is for a rookie…David had a great game to but because they lost, it goes without proper mention..
The Kid has been mentioned in the same breathe as Matt Ryan by his former coach and even Ryan stated he resembled him… I you don’t think this might someone who can be developed? – I swear the Tamp Bay fans have to be the stupidest fans in the NFL – HANDS DOWN!
He needs to be protected by an offensive Line not dressed in skirts and you might see this kid in the Pro bowl some day..
Draft Clowney!! assuming his interviews and health check out – They Need to Get to the Quarter back in the worse way!!! This is something their GM is too dense to understand…
October 21st, 2013 at 12:58 am
@bucthis, We have a few very slow people here, still stuck on freemans nuts while hating on Glennon…..and so far you and I and maybe a few others are the only ones calling for drafting O line help.
October 21st, 2013 at 1:16 am
In scrolling up and looking over more of the comments, I see not every Buc fan is stupid lol – some actually saw the same game I did! Like any Rookie, he has some things to work on eg the deep ball but that will improve…hes a quick decision maker and a leader – RUN THROUGH THE FIRE FOR YOU AND NOT WORRY ABOUT HIS PRETTY FACE..
October 21st, 2013 at 1:17 am
Oh yeah, his former coach is gonna bash him. And of course Ryan will say good things, he knows the media answers he’s supposed to give. Doesn’t mean he could wear Ryan’s jock.
I hope you’re all happy with that new LT when we run off 9 minute drives down 10… Oh wait…
October 21st, 2013 at 1:24 am
Funny stuff Madmax lol – thanks for enlightening me! Yes, a good OL protecting Mike – after all, isn’t this what Tom Terrific has? So YES, they need OL help but most of all..AGAIN and AGAIN!!!! GET PASS RUHERS!!!!
October 21st, 2013 at 1:29 am
Well, if you want a pass rusher but not spend a 1st rounder on it, (Sutton) the player opposite of Clowney is getting props from me…..
October 21st, 2013 at 1:46 am
Now how do you Glennon-ites feel after getting punked by the media – AGAIN!
They backed the coach, who spread the manure so thick you thought for SURE they were right about Schiano being right, about Freeman being the wrong QB!
Now they’re setting it up to ditch BOTH!
…you’ve been DUPED! See, Mike Glennon is NOT the answer, but it was SO cool that you went ALL IN like you did – they even got you to believe Freeman was the problem. He wasn’t – they and the head coach were. Don’t feel too bad though – the lovable, hapless, dolts that run this franchise lapped up the drivel too…which is even more sad.
At some point you have to realize that you are being led around by a ring thru your nose. Ira, Woody, and Doctor Propecia get their inside stuff from their agents – the rest of the crap they make up and spin. You have to watch both hands – learn football, record and replay games, listen to players who have played the game and do color work on Sunday – one day you too can know more than the fishwrap writers club.
You let them fire a starting QB, and you’re going to watch him do well elsewhere…just like I did with Doug Williams (whom the locals said stunk, till he helped win a Super Bowl), Steve Young (nuff said), and even Trent Dilfer…(Who also won a Super Bowl the very next season he played somewhere else).
The local fishwrap writers thrive off of drama – that’s the only thing driver revenue at the Trib, the Blog, The Ledger, and The Times. They certainly don’t get revenue from circulation – so wake up and smell the coffee – don’t be such lemmings.
The next time you see a rookie QB come in here from his first start and rallies your team to a win – then sets franchise records – before a fresh-from-college-twerp of a coach shows and tries to teach him what shouldn’t be learned about football in New Jersey – maybe you’ll be older and wiser.
Stats DO matter – but only the RIGHt stats
See, if stats didn’t matter – really – they wouldn’t PAY people to keep them. You just have to learn which stats are meaningful and which aren’t. Here’s a clue: when you start seeing stats that equate to only a few people EVER do something…those are pretty significant stats.
Bad coaches make good players look bad.
How can you tell a bad coach? He blames players. He overestimates his team, and underestimates the opponents team. Oh, yeah…he eventually and suddenly loses more than he wins.
I’m only assuming you learn from your amazingly stunning density on all things football…but I should remember, you’re pretty low information operators, maybe I’m setting the bar too high for you in thinking you’ll be able to take this criticism. But if you are – you simply sit at home or in bars all over this town and spout off like you’re a season ticket holder and your opinion should matter…the franchise wants you to know, they really like your moxie and appreciate you cheering for mediocrity – because if you like what you see, stick around, you’re going to get more of it.
Even if you do learn, you’ll end up be dealing with the next wave of high school kids who think Ira, Woody, and Dr Propecia are the BOMB dude…
Me? I’ve seen this movie before. Wake me after they hire the next ex-head coach.
October 21st, 2013 at 2:06 am
LoL If his mechanics are not good than what does that say about your boy Freeman?
They are clearly superior to Freemans 😉
October 21st, 2013 at 2:10 am
The audacity for you to open up your trap and criticize Glennon whilst you sit there and support Freeman is completely comical LOL.
Get the fuk out of here with that nonsense.
Ahhahahahaha About mechanics? And staring down receivers??
When Freeman was the King of that? LoL
Of course you hate him. He’s already showing your boy up
October 21st, 2013 at 2:11 am
He doesn’t need to improve much to leave Freeman in the dust 😉
October 21st, 2013 at 2:56 am
Hey @PRBF – you’ve been PUNKED – and you know it. trains just pull in’ into the station.
Just wait till tomorrow night – train will finally start arriving.
Besides, you wouldn’t know mechanics if they hit you in the head with a wrench.
October 21st, 2013 at 3:01 am
All you guys are idiots….all of you…Johnny football would be the worst choice at QB. Schiano aint get fired and Glennon will be our Qb..and yiu idiots cant cry and say , “if schiano is still the coach, I aint going to the games”..SO WHAT , Yall dont go anyways, schiano will be here next year and so will glennon. You sad fans are praying we keep losing so we can Get a high pick. If schiano sneezes wrong joe and duemig is all over it..get a life guys
October 21st, 2013 at 3:05 am
Neither does Jaws or any other analyst thats talked up Glennon mechanics and has absolutely talked down Freemans right?
By the way Ms.Cleo,
Don’t even think about opening you mouth about Freeman doing ANYTHING until he’s done it for an entire season.
Cause we’ve seen it all before here, whoopdifukingdoo if he gets a few wins, a complete season would be the only thing of relevance that he could do to shut his doubters up.
October 21st, 2013 at 4:07 am
@ Tj so you think Shiano will be here next year? Can I have whatever ur smoking ?
October 21st, 2013 at 4:12 am
@PRBucFan,
While I actually agree with most of what you say when it comes to Freeman and Glennon, I have to say you are the one that seems to keep dragging Freeman into every conversation. Until we start winning, people are going to be split on the entire Freeman issue. Unfortunately we aren’t, so there is a legitimate debate that it was a mistake, but we will never really know. But you got to let it go already. Glennon hasn’t proven anything yet. I think he’s looked good at times, and at other times looked like a rookie. He really hasn’t made any “WOW” throws, but he has been much more accurate, and he appears to go through his progressions considerably better than Freeman. Like Freeman, he has gotten very little protection (although maybe slightly better than Freeman overall) and not much of a running game. He’s also been hurt by having some big plays called back by penalties. But most importantly, we are 0-3 with Glennon. You play to win the game.
Don’t worry about the Freemanites. Just because they think we should have kept Freeman doesn’t mean they aren’t fans of this team, or they don’t want Glennon to do well. It’s just they believe he is the better QB. I personally don’t think we can accurately know who is the better QB under this outdated offensive scheme we run. Everyone is frustrated and looking for someone to blame. This is the biggest reason I feel we need to get rid of Schiano now. Until we do, we really don’t know how much talent we have on this team. Maybe we really are talent deficient, or maybe we have 12 Pro Bowlers. Your guess is as good as mine.
October 21st, 2013 at 6:43 am
No, Pr is a troll. His only function here is to continue to start Controversy over the a Freeman trade. It is his sole point of comment- and is all done to continue debates. He isn’t here to discuss games. He is here with an agenda. Not an opinion. I think MadMax and Bobby have just been duped into his pr B.S.
Of course, most of us have been here awhile, and have seen the “agenda Trolls on a mission” before. Annoying, but avoidable.
Pr( or who ever) – no one cares about a loser QB. We don’t care about his mechanics, clean uniform, or if he dances better than Freeman. We don’t care if he looks like Matt Ryan. Bucs fans hate Matt Ryan.
He can’t beat horrible teams. He sucks. He will go, along with Dom and Schiano!
Buuut, if you think he’s such a pretty loser, that you can’t contain your infatuation- then you run right down to OneBuc, stand at the Fence- and scream his name. When he comes over- you tell him he is the best lil loser in Buc history, and you just love him to death!! You can knobberslobber all over his cleats, if you so desire!
The Rest of us will be looking forward to a new GM, Coach, and QB by the start of next season.
Have a nice day
October 21st, 2013 at 6:54 am
TJWare-
Sooo- you think Schiano and Glennon are just swell, and you’re happy at 0-6?
Obviously, you don’t pay to go to games, or support the Team.
And you have some really, really low standards. Guess they can lose forever- and you’d still be sitting on the coach- waving a lil Buc flag!!
I have a great idea for you! Since it doesn’t matter to you- why don’t you just make a VHS tape of one game! I’d pick the SuperBowl Win!
Then, every Sunday- you can watch us win the SuperBowl! EVERY WEEK!!
Sounds like that would keep a fan like you entertained, til the Tape wears out!
October 21st, 2013 at 7:04 am
Schiano can’t even put Revis in position to help us win a game. And he is one of the best shut down corners ever.
Glennon has stood up better than anyone had a right to expect but the problems go way deeper than who lines up at QB. I like the kid, and like Josh.
We’re 0-3 with both QBs which really isn’t a reflection on either one. Put another way neither one is the cause of our losing.
Schiano had losing in his blood before he ever got here and was and is unworthy of a head coaching position in the NFL. That is our problem, along with the total loser GM.
October 21st, 2013 at 7:04 am
Bad article. Glennon is leagues better than Freeman. Freeman won’t go through his reads, Glennon at least goes through a few before pressure mounts. He’ll only get faster at it, but Freeman was in the league for 5 years and still stares down his receivers, that alone is unacceptable. I’ll be looking for it tonight, watch him stare down his 1st read from huddle all the way until he throws the ball and there is a defender and safety on the target by that point from his staring eyes. He’s probably the easiest QB to play against in that regard.
October 21st, 2013 at 7:15 am
Paul,
Glennon has played horrible defenses, and lost to all of them.
Nothing there to like.
Why are you looking at Vikings QB?
October 21st, 2013 at 7:44 am
@ Capt. Tim. Remind me never to go on your boat. If you are as delusional as a Capt, as you are about football, The Minnow you pilot will be lost forever.
October 21st, 2013 at 8:25 am
AsstheBuc!
I’m the one that’s always right. I said Schiano was over his head, the week they signed him! I said this spring, that we may not win a game- because if the rediculous Rutgers offense.
Nope, I’m so right, so often- that I should start a Bucs Psychic phone line.
You guys are the sad ones. Schiano duped you. He told you it was all Freeman’s fault. He said Glennon would cure all ills.
Truth is, that was all B.S. It’s all Schianos fault. He lied, and may have released medical info, to turn the dumber( you guys) against Freeman. He cruelly duped some of you into proclaiming Glennon would lead us to the playoffs. !!
Lmao! A rookie! A BAD rookie
Now the pawns in Schianos game are stumbling around in disbelief!
“Freeman gone! Why aren’t we winning??”
” how can Glennon lose? He’s great!!!”
Lmao. You were lied to, and made fools of!
Sucks to be you guys!
October 21st, 2013 at 8:36 am
@ Capt. Tim
Why are you such a POS assclown loser douchebag Freeman nard-swinging flunkstick?
What motivates you to crawl out from under your musty troll bridge evey morning?
October 21st, 2013 at 8:59 am
Architek- how’d I miss you?
How did I say Freeman won his first game, when Glennon has better “attributes”
Wow!
I said Freeman won his first game- because he won his first game. Beat the Packers! Broke 11 game losing streak, with last place offense!
I don’t know what Attributes means, but I think you better join PRbuc at the fences of OneBuc- with your ” Mike, I love your attributes” poster.
Freeman won 3 of his first 8, with a much less talented team.
Despite his big attributes you love, Glennon hasn’t come close to winning a game. 12.5 QB rating in 4th quarter???
Lmao!!
Good luck to you, him, and his shared attributes!
Lmao
October 21st, 2013 at 9:03 am
Illuminati!
Don’t cry! I’m sure Glennon wants to see your poster, too!!
Duped by Schiano! What’s a matter? Can’t believe getting rid of Freeman didn’t make it all better, like Schiano promised???
Can’t believe Glennon isn’t winning every game, like Schiano said he would??
How’s it feel to be used, ilumy?
“Winning with Glennon””
Roflmao!!!
You dumbasses!
October 21st, 2013 at 11:17 am
Lol! What are you mad at me for? I’m the one that kept warning you not to believe Schiano. I told you it was his offense, not Freeman or Glennon!!
But Nooo! You guys have to run around here, posting that Glennon is the messiah!! Being Schianos stooges- and doing his dirty work for him!
He used you like tissue paper fellas!!
If you’d have only listened to the Capt!
Well, it’s crow eating time! Schiano sucks, Glennon sucks! And looking that foolish has to suck!!
Lmao!
October 21st, 2013 at 11:21 am
No Hawaiian, I specifically go after posts in which Free is brought up.
.
Whether sarcastically or indirectly such as in a comment about Glennon being “so great” from a clearly bitter Freemanite to a “it’s all Freeman’s fault”.
I don’t bring him up just to bring him up, I bring him up to let those know still bitching in the indirect manners and direct or that matter that Freeman is still worse!!!!
You can follow and that most any post I have typed about Free are in some sort of response to a smart ass remark..
And there are plenty of people instigating over and over especially Cap Tim over there the many whose words no longer have value lol.
October 21st, 2013 at 11:23 am
P.S.
If Glennon is bad what does that make Freeman if he’s worse???
Ahahaha no wonder your so bitter Tim lolol
October 21st, 2013 at 11:38 am
Prbucagendatroll
Don’t pretend. I know who you are, and why you keep the Freeman trade furor aflame. Just helping lead the other leglennon lemmings
(Glemmings?) to the cliffs.
And boy, so of those Glemmings are feisty!
Lmao
October 21st, 2013 at 11:38 am
@Illuminati
You see the little boy he becomes when you talk about him baby Free Free ?
Lol He still living in 2010,
And no I don’t love Glennon haven’t seen enough to make an opinion of him.
That doesn’t change that he still shown more than Free Free ;).
EVEN IF BOTH Schiano and Glennon left, Free still sucks and needed to go ;).
@Hawaian
But I digress Hawaiian I’l just challenge you to keep in mind what I said to you as you read the posts. You’ll notice how many of the posters there really are referencing Freeman directly or indirectly through our failures coaching and qb and you’ll notice that indeed I am just responding not beginning anything.
But overall I understand what you mean and how it can look like that especially when I have actively decided to call those posts out. It’s instead of beating around the Bush I (it’s even more obvious from a Freemanite) just call a spade a spade.
But ultimately it does get me nowhere but well satisfaction to see Tim squirm.
October 21st, 2013 at 11:46 am
And you can try and claim that I am someone else
That laughable and not one person whose been here long enough on these boards would believe that garbage. I have always been PRBucFan.
I’ve always been the one to call your type out.
(the ones that actually use many usernames)
It’s funny how “jb” disappeared after that night we all made a “truce”, but he was there for every double team just conveniently when you needed him.
But hey I know now your just grabbing on to straws and I am deep under your skin and you can’t take anymore. You’ll be ok though Cap Tim 🙁
Please don’t cry. *Sniffle *Sniffle
A troll calling someone else a troll ahahahaha.
Did you buy your viking jersey yet and your specially mane blow up Freeman doll?
October 21st, 2013 at 11:58 am
Glennon has not showed more than Freeman. I do not understand this at all. Glennon has played 3 games all of which he has looked average. He played against the Cardinals who are average to i guess and put up good 1st half and a terrible awful 2nd half. He played a horrible D in the eagles and put up an alright 1st half and a horrible 2nd half. Then he played the 3rd string D for the already bad Falcons D and put up an below average 1st half and below average 2nd half. Glennon looks bad. If you are actually watching the games you will see how many throws he misses and also how many times the falcons got their hands on the ball but did not make a play. Now if you are only looking at stats at the end of the game then sure Glennon is better than Freeman. But if you are actually watching you have to know that Glennon just does not have it to be a starting Qb in this league.
October 21st, 2013 at 12:09 pm
You cheerleaders posing as fans can aim at the posters on this blog as the problems – the real problems are down at OBP – if Glennon is the answer to anything other than “who’s the former Buccaneer back-up QB that looks like Napolean Dynamite”? …its the wrong question.
It’s not Glennon’s fault, he’s the guy we and all the other 31 teams that passed on him – three times – thought he was. A game managing back-up.
The reason fans like me focus on the former 1st round draft pick/new starting QB of the Vikings starting for a team that did NOT draft him – when you are a fan of the team who did – is to force the owners to shoulder the conseuences of hiring yet another not-read-for-prime-time-player.
Because – as many of the REAL fans have discovered over the years – CHEERING for mediocrity only gets you more mediocrity.
mediocrity = losing, close.
October 21st, 2013 at 1:08 pm
Says Frees number one cheerleader 😉
October 21st, 2013 at 2:35 pm
@prbf
Yes, and tonight you’re going to find out the difference between you and I – my football iQ didn’t come with a set of Buccaneer pom pom’s and a cute little tutu
Kinda quiet on that front aren’t we? Wassamatta, CAT got your tongue?
October 21st, 2013 at 2:41 pm
Prof:
since you’re an easy mark: please share with the class how you arrived at the conclusion that Glennon is a better starting NFL QB – in ANY meaningful way – than Freeman?
