“Put It On The Players”
October 28th, 2013Greg Schiano is taking all kinds of heat from all angles, deservedly so.
But there’s one ex-Buccaneer who assigns as much or more blame to the Buccaneer men wearing helmets.
“I’m a big put-it-on-the-players guy,” Becht said. “I was a player, and I understand that. You know, I know that I have a job to do. And if I don’t do it, we’re not going to win. I’m a piece of the puzzle. And all these players have to understand they’re pieces of the puzzle.”
Becht also went on to say it’s tough to evaluate Mike Glennon because they team isn’t playing well around him. “He is not going to be the savior of this team. We have enough good players and talent on this team, that if they play better, he’ll have a better chance to succeed. But right now we’re not doing that, so to me he really has no shot.”
Joe agrees with Becht. However, it is the essence of a head coach’s job to get the most out of his talent and his coaching staff. Schiano has failed miserably in those areas, perhaps more than any coaching Bucs history given the talent on the roster.
Below you can catch Becht’s full interview on WDAE-AM 620 this morning.

I think the coaching has failed with the gameplan, playcalling and lack of proper adjustments. Even with great talent you will lose if they aren’t used properly.
We have some great players but we also have some gaping holes.
On defense we are weak right now at CB, DE on offense TE,
& 3rd WR.
When you break it down you can blame players for specific things in a game like the LVD penalty or the Lindell miss or the Glennon interception…..there are 3 games that should have been wins…but the overall blame rests with coaching.

I’am somewhere in the middle on where the blame goes. Some of the bucs flat can’t play fundamental football. For example, with penalties, Vj grabbing a face mask, WR’s lining up correctly, hiking the football causing fumbles.. Fundamental football. Short of three players (lavonte David, Doug Martin, and Revis) most bucs players are overrated, especially Gerald McCoy.

I’m just utterly sick of this story and suffering through the news of Schiano daily. He’s like a bad dream that keeps coming back over and over again. It’s like a virus with legs everywhere and now it’s infecting out iPads and iPhones daily!
I think we should change Bucco Bruce to a character that looks like Schiano because he’s the real pirate taking a salary that he did not earn or work for.

“Glennon also went on to say it’s tough to evaluate Mike Glennon”
Glennon referring to himself in the 3rd person. What a prima donna! 😉

You’re right Architek, the virus has affected Joe, “Glennon went on to say it’s tough to evaluate Mike Glennon…”

We are completely defeated because of the players and the coaches. But how many games can you win when both your offensive and defensive lines suck something awful?

@ Theodore
I think that was a JOE TYPO!!!

Schiano has evaluated Schiano- says he shoulda stayed at small colleges or high schools. Schiano said Schiano is lost . .
Nah, bullpucks! It’s the coach and his schemes.
Players just need a plan that works.
