Nicks Has Surgery, Return Expected In November
October 16th, 2013Bad news/good news at One Buc Palace today. All-Pro guard Carl Nicks, whose bum toe/MRSA-infected foot, had surgery in the last 24 hours after seeking an out-of-town medical opinion on the MRSA re-infection that kept him out of Sunday’s game against the Eagles.
However, there is good news, a well placed Bucs source told Joe. Nicks’ condition isn’t that bad and he’s expected to return to action next month.
As Joe wrote earlier, the Bucs practiced with Jeremy Zuttah and left guard for a stretch of practice today, with Ted Larsen at center and Gabe Carimi at guard. Greg Schiano said Davin Joseph is day-to-day after taking a knock on his good knee against the Eagles.

Just have Nicks sit out the year and get him healthy.
If we are 0-whatever and it is time for Nicks to return, we are better off saving him.
Shoot, if it keeps getting this ugly, we might as well save some tread on the Muscle Hamster’s tires.
We won’t give up, but if other teams lay down ON PURPOSE at the end of the year, only to worsten our draft position, then I will be ticked off.
We need to finally taste rockbottom, throw out the clown regime, cut a bunch of overpaid player personell and start anew.

MY $ is with Jonbuc too.
The Bucs suck right now. No way around it.
I thought Schiano said, “Before I got here the Bucs were the laughing stock of the NFL”. Someone better tell this guy we are STILL THE LAUGHING STOCK OF THE NFL.

I believe when Nicks was a UFA two years ago, the Saints had to somewhat choose between extending him or Colston. Think they are happy with their choice? They also snagged a guard, Ben Grubbs, who’s been very solid. I don’t blame Nicks but what a flop that signing has turned out to be.
Mickey Loomis on suspension > Dirtstar GM

No reason to rush Nicks back, even though the offensive line is need of it’s top players. Get him healthy, that’s the most important thing.

I said a week ago, nicks is lost for year- and everyone jumped me.
Believe me now?
Don’t expect Joseph for a few weeks either.
Just not gonna be our year

I agree with sitting him the rest of the season…..and according to how GM and HC positions play out, we could draft someone to install under his tutelage and see some nice results in a year or two. But if his toe injury never heals, he’s done.

If he can come back the first week of november, bring him back. If mid to late, IR him.

Just read the mrsa had worked into the bone on his foot….and they had to cut it out. Ouch! Hope it was a tiny part of the bone.
