Report: Josh Freeman Is Released
October 3rd, 2013The Josh Freeman era is over. Today, the process to release Freeman began, so Twittered Rick Stroud, of The Tampa Bay Times.
Bucs fans spent five seasons living off the hope that the team mantra, “It’s all about No. 5,” would be a blessing and Freeman would return the Bucs to the playoffs as a true franchise quarterback.
It never happened.
It’s unfair to call Freeman a wasted first-round 2009 draft choice. Freeman did shock the NFL with 25 touchdowns and six interceptions in 2010, leading the Bucs to a 10-6 record — one bad call on Kellen Winslow (against the Lions) from an 11-5 record and a playoff berth. Freeman was the real deal, but something went wrong after the Bucs started the 2011 season 4-2.
Freeman joined the Bucs’ freefall and never recovered.
Inconsistency took over his career — and apparently his life. There’s plenty of blame to go around, but the majority of it lands on Freeman’s shoulders. He regressed to a point where he wasn’t good enough, especially not good enough to get a new starting-QB contract.
This was Freeman’s make-or-break year, and he didn’t start sharp and was the first casualty of the Bucs’ 0-3 record. One could argue, however, that Freeman was a casualty before the season. Greg Schiano didn’t trust Freeman on critical offensive plays dating back to 2012. That was a recipe for disaster and all on Schiano. Don’t make Freeman your starter if you don’t think he can play.
Yes, Joe also will comfortably say that if the Bucs won their first two games of this season — games that easily should have been locked up — Freeman would still be the Bucs’ starter. But that’s just the tough business of the NFL. Wins, performance and pressure matter. Just ask Kevin Ogletree.
The real truths surrounding Josh Freeman, on and off the field, might never be revealed. But they’re of lessened importance now. Freeman is gone.
Joe wishes Freeman well.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:22 pm
He had to go. I hate that it came to this but he acted like a child and I refuse to believe that Schiano had anything to do with the leaks.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:23 pm
Mission Accomplished,
Well done Freeman camp.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:24 pm
I liked Free, but felt he never progressed enough to justify leaving Glennon on the bench and wondering what to do in the offseason in free agency and in the draft. Time to see what the rook can do, and if Schiano can unite this team enough to turn this season around. Let’s go Bucs!
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:24 pm
Freeman won’t go far…I think JAX will be calling him.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:24 pm
Sad it didn’t work out. I was upset when we drafted him but he grew on me and then things got out of control. The Glazer sons just aren’t as good as their father, it starts from the top. Dominik never has gotten us quality depth at any position.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:25 pm
His agent got exactly what they both wanted: A double dip. Now Freeman gets his money and gets paid for whoever he signs to backup for. Oakland and Chicago at the front of the line, Green Bay and Houston will also show some interest.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:25 pm
Two hours ago I wanted this to happen. Now that it has happened, it makes my heart hurt. Hopefully we can carry on now
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:26 pm
Yep, Freeman’s agent won the war with the Glazers. Now can we PLEASE get back to football?
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:27 pm
Will be a good back up somewhere. If he works on his short passing game, may even start again.
Bye fro-balls-late-and-inaccurate-or-get-sacked-and-fumble.
The bucs move on.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:27 pm
All the best to Josh in the Future. I wish him all the success he wasn’t able to find here with his next team (as long as it’s not a division rival.
The real tragedy here though, is the fact that Schianopolean is still here. Once we’re 0-7 and he can no longer try and blame others for his massive failings, I’m sure he’ll be gone too.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:27 pm
He’s a good player. This coach is a moron I refuse to believe he will turn things around in Tampa. Freeman I’m sorry you had to go through all of this because of what this organization is doing. I say organization because they are allowing this coach to destroy my buccaneers. To hell with Schiano! Thanks for ruining my bucs! Good luck Josh your better off somewhere where they will appreciate you more.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:27 pm
Clipboard city.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:28 pm
Wont trust freeman on 3rd down ti win the game when all we need is a first but you’ll trust glennon n that role right o yea how’d he do o he threw two picks in our territory to give them the only points the could muster all game fire this guy hold him accountable he was n the press conference makin excuses like carl nicks an joseph only got this many pre season snaps they gon get bettter….. how many did josh have maybe if you focused on gettin him ready for the season not gettin your guy glennon up to speed he’d b flowing roght about now with 2 or 3 victories its all good though cuz schanio gon ride this train right to unemployment u and YOUR GUY glennon screw sundays…. until next year an schanio an dominick teddy bridgewater or bust we ready to get over the hump now let’s me it happen glaziers get a proven guy n here an quit the experiments
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:29 pm
I wish Josh all the best in his future endeavors. He really did, at times, bring a lot to cheer about and some great memories.
So for all the Josh Freeman haters you have no more excuses. When the Bucs lose to the Eagles who will you blame?
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:30 pm
When it all comes out we’ll find out it was Freeman and his agent that were leaking information. Follow the money.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:32 pm
This was necessary but the way this whole thing went down was not. I said it two weeks ago and I will say it again, it does not stop here. Either Schiano or Dom or both will be gone too. The way the drug thing was handled, the fans are in an uproar, the team is in disarray, the glazers are losing money, and nobody will want to play here with this group. That is the big thing us fans have got to remember. Are any top players going to want to come here with the way the bucs are treating players and all the controversies swirling around? We fans will pay for all of this. The glazers will be forced to react when there pocketbooks get lighter.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:32 pm
This shows what a mess we are can’t even get a trade for free. He isn’t the only one who has to go
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:33 pm
well done schiano. now he can go cry and party somewhere else.
think about it acting like an emotional child, party freak, meds for mental stuff, Michael Jackson pictures.
we sure he’s not a woman?
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:33 pm
“It’s unfair to call Freeman a wasted first-round 2009 draft choice. ”
No, it’s not Joe(s). We wasted five years with this guy and got no return. No Super Bowl, no Divisional Championship and no playoffs.
He was a huge waste and your “rock star” GM traded UP for him. The only reason you two claim it isn’t a waste is because of your undying love for our jackass GM. There you go, instead of “rock star” use “jackass.” Much better fit.
Him & Schiano should be next.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:33 pm
Cant wait to hear the big dog chirp on this one, big dog said at one time he was glad that freeman was benched because he needs help and 2 days ago was saying that this is all schiano
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:33 pm
Best of luck to you Freeman.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:34 pm
Cause the “double dip” sure doesn’t seem like motive enough does it…
Lol RRRight
No… wait, I forgot,
CONSPIRACY!!!!!!!! BURN SCHIANO AT THE STAKE!!!!
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:34 pm
Oh yeah, and the fact that jackass Dominik thought he could get some value for Freeman after everything makes him even more of a jackass.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:34 pm
Dang…this was the messiest divorce ever. Free I hope you find a home with a great QB coach, something you never had here. Best of luck.
OK Glennon, you’re next man up!
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:34 pm
And the entire 09 draft class is gone, wow. Good luck Free.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:34 pm
ctord – that free agent stuff people are throwing around is BS. Top players will come here because the checks cash. Players want to get paid, everything else is secondary.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:35 pm
time for a new gm
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:35 pm
The truth will eventually come out, and I’m of the mind that Schiano and Dominik will not be revealed as the culprit of the leaks. They had nothing to gain by dragging the organization through this media mess. But some of you are so stuck on your hatred, you’ll never come to grips with that logic.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:35 pm
Good Luck Josh!
Oh don’t Let that Confidentiality Case Close! THE HIPPA VIOLATION STILL NEEDS TO BE PURSUED AND CRIMINAL CHARGES NEED TO BE FILED
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:36 pm
Big mistake. Josh will land on his feet and have a good career with a franchise that can utilize him. All the Bucs can develop is MRSA.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:36 pm
With that Dominik’s first draft class is officially a total bust. He basically is lucky he got Mike Williams and Lavonte David otherwise his draft resume is brutal.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:38 pm
Now who’s next?
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:38 pm
This wasn’t just the right move, it was the only move. I’ve been critical of Freeman’s play, and more so on his lack of a good work ethic. However, after looking at some of the all 22 footage, I have doubts that any QB is going to succeed in this scheme. There are plays last week where there were literally all 4 receivers running deep routes, with nobody running anything short. Keep in mind, this is when Arizona was blitzing. Glennon was sacked before any of the receivers even got out of their breaks. What exactly should Glennon have done? How are we going to be successful on offense like that?
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:38 pm
I always had hope that Josh would develop….but it just wasn’t there. I think he has the physical tools to be very good…but I don’t think he has the mental toughness or smarts to think well on his feet. It always seemed like Josh struggled to make in game adjustments.
I was very, very disappointed in the way he handled things at the end….there seemed to be absolutely no fight in him.
Now we can move on and I will root for Glennon’s success because it is directly tied to Bucs success.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:38 pm
Think that Houston might be in the mix?
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:39 pm
Ok….let’s see what ya got Greggy!
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:39 pm
Freepass got EXACTLY what he wanted and it pisses me off…but he had to be let go in order to stop the bleeding.
Good Riddance Josh…you have wasted 5 years or your life and you have regressed!!! Enjoy holding a clipboard somewhere.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:39 pm
“With that Dominik’s first draft class is officially a total bust. He basically is lucky he got Mike Williams and Lavonte David otherwise his draft resume is brutal.”
———
Gerald McCoy and Doug Martin are pretty good too, no?
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:40 pm
Good luck kid. Love to see ya in Denver. Learn how to study effectively and step up when Manning hangs em up
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:41 pm
Not a glorious history here in Tampa with the draft a franchise QB method.
But by comparison only Doug showed as much as Free. A very promising player ruined by head coaches and a GM with no clue how to develop him or a competitive team. Even with that the young man played very well IMO, and the stats do too.
Very sad day.
When we are 0-16 it will look ever worse. The wrong guy(s) got fired.
Another in a long line of really dumb decisions by this franchise.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:41 pm
McCoy doesn’t count because that was either Suh or McCoy so no credit for that one. Martin I’ll give you however. But then I can just say “Myron” and we all cry a little and thats that haha.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:41 pm
I have a feeling that Freeman will be back in Tampa next year in a different uniform and will rip us apart.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:41 pm
Schiano told season ticket holders that when he got here, the Bucs were the laughing stock of the NFL, and “the team needed Greg Schiano. they still do.” I would argue we are an even bigger laughing stock now, especially when the coach talks in third person.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:41 pm
If someone claims freeman does that take us off the hook for the remainder of his salary?
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:43 pm
Sad to see. He was up and down but you don’t have a some of the seasons he’s had and not be good. I feel the coaching let us down with Freeman and not working to his strengths and the strengths of our offense. He’s going to go somewhere and get back to being a good QB that’s what scares me the most.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:43 pm
It’s so sad that our offense from last year and our defense from this year couldn’t finally pull it together. And now we start over again. How well Freeman does with another team will be very telling of this organization’s leadership or lack thereof.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:43 pm
@bucrightoff,
I wasn’t aware that there were only 2 people in the draft that year. I would, however, also bring up Stocker as a horrible bust along the Myron Lewis line.

EXACTLY!! They canned the wrong guy!
Are people really foolish enough to believe that when we’re 0-7 and Schianopolean
starts throwing Jackson and or Revis or fill in the ______ for his obvious inadequacies, who are ya gonna blame then? Freeman?
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:47 pm
@kh. They can get paid elsewhere without the drama or trust issues under this regime. Agree they will come for the money but my initial statement was the coach or GM needs to go next because love it hate freeman this was handled terribly and got out of control fast.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:48 pm
Well Bradford got picked and then the Lions were either choosing Suh or McCoy and the Bucs were taking whoever they didn’t. Dominik has been mediocre as a drafter. And poor at choosing coaches. His job needs to be in as much or more jeopardy than Schiano’s.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:48 pm
As an Orlando Magic fan, it’s wonderful seeing a star player complain and whine his way off of my team… again. At least they can start fresh with an undivided locker room now. Let’s just hope Sullivan, Sheridan, and Schiano stop with the terrible schemes and play calls.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:48 pm
Exhale…….everyone….back to EAGLES business.
I still think the Glazer family need to clean house…and I do think it will occur before the end of the season after the team finishes its self implosion Raheem style. The thing that sucks is the only people who lost in all this is US the FANS! We wont be able to get another big name free agent for a long time. It will also not surprise me if Revis takes his talents to Miami, NYG, or Dallas at seasons end. I think it was a string of 1 year contracts @ 16 M each.
RE: BIGDOG…..there goes your locker room source…. I got a good giggle on how Steve tried to dance between his loyalty to Josh and the Bucs….that made good entertainment. He said some pretty stupid things and has lost his credibility with me…a long time listener.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:50 pm
Here we go….. Again
Another QB leaves and goes on to better things elsewhere…. ugh.
Here is looking towards next season.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:50 pm
This is the worst moment as a Bucs fan since Derrick Brooks was released.
and people, quit saying Freeman was a baby, etc. I’m not saying he wasn’t, but don’t let the media dictate your opinion of the guy.
Now we have Glennon, who is Dilfer all over again.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:50 pm

That being said… good luck Freeman, unless he is playing the Bucs!!
GO BUCS!!!!

Nice story, kinda sums it all up fairly I think. IMO

October 3rd, 2013 at 2:53 pm
Freeman now gets to negotiate a deal with whoever and keep his $6mil from the Bucs.So he can double-dip
All of those who think Schiano leaked medical informaton have to ask yourself….why would Schiano risk his job, career and a huge lawsuit to trash a player who has already had a mental breakdown?
Follow the money…and it follows Josh & his agent right out the door.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:54 pm
Good-bye Josh!!! GoodLuck!!!
I have a feeling you will be in the playoffs before we do?
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:54 pm
i never imagined that mark sanchez would take his demotion better than josh has, or that he would leave his franchise with more dignity and his reputation in better shape than josh. just a stunning freefall
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:54 pm
“Now we have Glennon, who is Dilfer all over again.”
Right…
Thanks for that, I wish I had the insight you had on the kid based on only 1 NFL start from the Rook.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:56 pm
We wish you the best Josh! Go out and pull an Alex Smith on this fake coach!
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:56 pm
Oh but no… TBBF… never…
CONSPIRACY!!! SCHIANO MUST BURN!!!
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:57 pm
Btw if anyone has seen the all 22 footage the offense play calling is horrible. You can see what they are doing based on formations. And one point I saw two receivers run the same route multiple times in one set of downs. It’s the same looks and nfl defenses are gonna tear it up. The fact we have any points this season is amazing to me. The system is horrible. The defense is better but great coaches know how to adjust and this coach just keeps riding the same train to a loss. Freeman as a QB I saw what you did in 2010 and you were amazing. You would toss line man around like nothing and defenses struggled on wether you would throw or take off running. I’m heartbroken right now. He’s a good QB I know he is. I’m gonna miss you man.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:57 pm
If this team doesn’t win 6-7 games Schiano will follow Freeman out the door at season’s end. Then we’ll be back to square one. Lovely.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:58 pm
why would they just release him? Maybe Schiano was somehow involved and they gave up the fight to keep from being discovered.
October 3rd, 2013 at 2:59 pm
Buh Bye Party Bitch.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:00 pm
I thought that Glazers might be able to pull off a multi game suspension,. And then this? Freeman must have had theyre card. And if they did suspend him over buffets and missed breakfasts, theres no way I would support this team from the top down.

If Glennon is Dilfer, what is Freeman? I mean people…worse completion percentage since the start of last year than Brandon Weeden and Blaine Gabbert. More turnovers than both of them too. What makes Freeman better than them? Something he did 3 years ago?
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:01 pm
Some real classless fans on this site. I went around all the other websites, and you guys are some lowlife gutter b__s.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:03 pm
The offense hasn’t scored more than 23 points in the last 10 games, and now we start a rookie QB – and his back-up is Orlovsky. Where’s the depth? This is a disaster. Bring back Vinnie T!
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:03 pm
Report from Ian Rapoport
Bucs would have paid Freeman’s salary to trade him and couldn’t even get a late round pick in 2015…..so not one team wanted him…not even as a backup.
Now, I think he will land somewhere…but that’s amazing and should let us know that he wasn’t a very valuable player.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:03 pm

That’s a great article.

I suppose if I trashed Schiano, that would be acceptable.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:05 pm
why would teams give the Bucs anything when all they had to do was wait. Kind of like what SF did to us with E Wright.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:06 pm
I wish Josh the best.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:06 pm
Well.. It is what it is now. Yeah freeman frustrated us a lot. Buh he played great. Might be a reach but I feel he was the best quarterback for this franchise so far. I’m hoping his successor (not glennon) will be an immediate upgrade. This season isn’t over but it gets harder to watch. I would like Schiano gone soon but I expect him to finish out the season, maybe then the Glazers can decide from there. I think Dom will stay. He’s done a great job getting us the talent needed for this team and handling the financial aspects of the deals as well. After all, we still have Revis. Josh will move onto a better team and play well like I said before. It is what it is, Schiano you can’t blame anyone else for anymore drama or losses now. They all fall on you.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:06 pm
Glad you liked it Brooks, I thought so too
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:06 pm
I don’t talk about players that are no longer on the team. Soooo, let’s talk about Schiano. Fire him now and save some face.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:06 pm
Moron Joe rears his head again – you should have to submit your stories to the “Regular Joe’s”…sadly, though you try, you come off as a Schiano schill.
It really doesn’t matter that your column spun incredible stats into a “meh” career, we’re all going to find out how inaccurate your vitriol is (we know it’s you anyway EYE-Rah…low intelligence is hard to hide).
We will all be able to see which partyy improves, and which party won’t be able to find a job – even at Rutgers – in a few short weeks.
My only wish is that Moron Joe would get an all expeses paid, one way trip – with your favorite ‘ol buddy – to your own personal Idaho…so we’d never have to see another one of your columns, or blogs, or tweets you use to rouse the low information rabble.
Columns (and columnists) like these – remind me that Mussolini started out as a journalist, too.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:07 pm
BUST
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:07 pm
In the immediate future, if we continue to lose, I still at least partially blame Freeman; because we are now being forced to rely on a rookie quarterback solely because Freeman couldn’t man up, get off the (prescription, but heavy) drugs, have a clear mind to process the defensive schemes, and execute the offense efficiently and effectively.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:08 pm
BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR
this coach could have gone about benching freeman by treating him like an adult not like he’s coaching rutgers players if only for the simple fact that we needed depth. so for instance if we picked up a free agent like say vince young, he’s instantly the best qb on our roster……dont wanna hear anyone that wanted freeman gone crying if this skinny scrub gets hurt…people he looks to be good…ok as a qb but he hasnt earned any of the praise he’s been getting, its really only because you want to see someone different and its kinda pathetic that it’s gonna take you guys all year of bad offense to see that it’s not glennon its the offense, it was freeman but it was the offense…why is schiano always standing next to mike sullivan? he doesnt know offense and apparently he doesnt know how to coach the last 5 minutes of games. last year he was to in over his head to coach every phase of the game so now you see the results.
good luck to all you glennon and schiano fans because if you think that getting rid of a experienced quarterback was the best thing for us then your not a buc fan, it’s an insult for anyone to think glennon is better than freeman especially when he took all the snaps in the preseason
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:10 pm
Again White Tiger your ability to see into the future amazes me.
Thank you Ms.C leo, where can I buy a crystal ball???
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:10 pm
Well congrats Bucs fans we just drove out the first franchise quarterback we have ever had for mike glennon. Well done
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:10 pm
I’m laughing my nuts off at some of these tear drops.
Freeman was terrible before Schiano ever came into the picture. The difference was, he was no longer coddled. And, he collapsed.
Schiano might not last in TB, because that’s because everyone important (QB, coach, GM) will ultimately be judged by W’s and L’s. But, he didn’t draft him, and he didn’t make him inconsistent. He certainly didn’t release info. Look for the NFLPA investigation to go away with zero involvement by Schiano.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:10 pm
Congrats Josh, you got released. That makes you luckier than 51 other poor guys, left to labor on at Camp Schiano
Has any QB draftee ever had the bad luck you’ve had?
2 rookie coaches. First Raheem, then Emperor Schiano?
I know a lot of people here are Zombies. But I’ll write this in small words
Yesterday, one of the NFLs best X and Os guys broke down the Bucs offense.
Surprise! It isn’t the Giants offense( sorry Sullivan)
It’s the Rutgers Offense!! The one that Shiano has used everywhere he has gone.
It was then described as”Prehistoric, unimaginative, and unproductive”
Using this system- no QB, NO QB!!!, has any chance at success. Glennon will fail- despite any talent he may have- because of the system. Just like Josh.
Dom is failing this team at the draft. Schiano is failing them on the field!
Both humiliated fans and Players- with this See thru Smear campaign- all designed to beat Freeman out of his contract!
Fire both of those useless failures!
Then- sign an experienced GM, and hire a Real coach!!! No more searching for the ” magic hire”. Let’s try to win the old fashioned way!
This circus had been humiliating
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:11 pm
It’s not like if the Bucs were going to re-sign him. I wish him well but frankly he was not a good QB, regressed badly, showed no heart and the Bucs realized he was not the QB of the future. Now that he is gone, hopefully the Glazers will realize that the GM and Schiano are NOT what the Bucs need in the future as well. Even the likes of Drew Brees and Manning didn’t last with their first teams but the Bucs need to realize this is a QB league so they better get a quality OC and QB after this nightmare of a season ends.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:11 pm
This is the best news I’ve had this year. No more distractions. Schiano has the QB he wants and Freeman has his chance to show he is better than what we saw lately.
Now the glaring light of truth will shine on both men. We will soon know if we have a coach that can win and we will know if Freeman can lead another NFL team. Of greater interest to me is Schiano, because the Bucs are my team. So good luck Josh and Schiano faces a tough schedule ahead. I don’t care how Freeman fares this year, but Schiano better win. Just win baby, just win!

33rd rated QB in the league, 59.3 passer rating. I wish him well he seemed like a nice young man but these guys get paid astronomical amounts of money and have to perform.
Realize that the money he’ll get for not playing the rest of the season is more than most of us will make in our entire lifetime. Tough to feel too sorry for him in that light.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:12 pm
Good, now Freeman can’t take any more crap from this team. The whole situation was blown WAY out of proportion. In less than two weeks Freeman went from starting QB, to backup QB, to deactivated 3rd string QB, to a guy that was on the Bucs roster but not on the sideline, to a guy that security had to take out of his own personal suite for WHATEVER REASON, to a guy that was asked not to show up to a team meeting, now he is a guy without a team. I wish him the best, but now the Bucs faithful still have Schiano to worry about.

I don’t think it matters whether Josh, Glennon, or Orlovsky were starting. With Schiano its the same circus, different clowns.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:14 pm
So its all about glennon now? Well at least I’ll save the $200-300 I was about to drop at RayJy! Im not surprised we fired someone today, Im just surprised that coach wasnt sent with him. Bill Belicheck wannabe. But he’s a never will.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:15 pm
“Realize that the money he’ll get for not playing the rest of the season is more than most of us will make in our entire lifetime. Tough to feel too sorry for him in that light.”
No no no, Freeman’s the victim here… Lets not forget that…
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:16 pm
Zam,
Who cares about Freeman anymore. He’s already a distant memory to me. Let’s focus on Schiano and wins now. Go Bucs!
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:17 pm
Singing:
Ding dong the cancers gone, ding dong the cancers gone…
Josh let me know if you need a ride to the airport. If you say to pick you up at 9:00 am. I’ll be there at 10:00 because I know damn well you won’t be ready at 9.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:17 pm
Freeman was not a franchise QB, never was. He was a 1 year wonder and that 1 year wasn’t even that impressive except for a few more come from behind victories over bad teams. Freeman was not good enough for a majority of his career as a Buccaneer. He was and is not a winner. As hard as it is to accept, its the truth.
Best of luck to him wherever he goes. As a Bucs fan, I am ready to see what the future holds for us. Sully should be next to go. It’s the offense that is holding us back. Get on it Schiano or you are going to be next!
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:17 pm
In the 1st half of the Cardinals game, Glennon looked better and more sharp for a longer period of time than Freeman has looked in 3 years (since 2010).
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:17 pm
really freeman was terrible with mike williams as his #1 target? real quick who was the number #2? where do they play, do they start? you think they were 4-12 because of freeman’s play then your idiots….who was the running back? who was the third down running back? how many sacks did michael bennett have that year? 4 how many did clayborne have 7 as a rookie. gerald mccoy done for the season in his first two years….bunch of clowns
to think we are sitting here at 0-4 and you idiots are cheering because we just lost the best qb we had, glennon’s played one game and you think he’s better, freeman was better in his first rookie debut and didnt get all those preseason snaps either, didnt have all the weapons we have either. I think it’s ignorant to hate freeman so bad that going 0-16 is worth it. with the game on the line freeman stepped up to win them, glennon in his first game gave us a lose and so did the coach with his stupid playcalling…good luck schiano fans
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:17 pm
Looking back to last season when Josh got most of the reps in the off-season, training camp & pre season games, he was ready for the regular season. He performed decent most of the games. He did have several bad games but was forced to play catch up due in part to the great defense.
This year, he had to split the reps with Schiano’s newboy wonder and was not ready to play. I believe Tom Brady got more reps than Freeman in pre-season and does Brady really need the practice?
At least two of Freeman’s loses this year are on the defense. I have been a season ticket holder since 1977 and want the best players on the field. I doubt Glennon is that player. He will struggle unless the play calling is change.
The wrong person was released today. It should have been Ray Perkins, whops I mean Schiano that should have been fired.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:18 pm
Most fans got tired of Gruden so he was fired, then it was Raheem and Olson, then Freeman, now it’s Schiano and Dominik. When they’re gone and we keep losing it’ll be someone else. It’ll become the team should be sold to get rid of the Glazers. Then the new owners will hire a new cast and the whole cycle of insanity, hate and blame will start over again.
Are you people paying any attention at all? Your hate has NOTHING to do with specific people. You simply cannot deal with losing and MUST find someone to blame. Every damn time. When the object of your hate/blame is gone you must find another, and another, and another, and f-cking another. It never stops with you insane clowns. You’d drive your own mothers away if it meant getting a few more wins.
I’m am so tired of being a Bucs fan right now. Being surrounded by fools is a burden that gets too heavy after awhile.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:21 pm
“good luck to all you glennon and schiano fans because if you think that getting rid of a experienced quarterback was the best thing for us then your not a buc fan, it’s an insult for anyone to think glennon is better than freeman especially when he took all the snaps in the preseason”
buc4lyfe..Let me get this straight were not Buc fans because we support Schiano and Glennon? That’s quite laughable.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:22 pm
lol wow this is like when bucs fans got all happy about freeman getting bench for glennon thinking he was a savior.
how stupid is it to say In the 1st half of the Cardinals game, Glennon looked better and more sharp for a longer period of time than Freeman has looked in 3 years (since 2010).
@Hesson0208
are you trying to say glennon is a franchise quarterback after have a good half in a game but freeman is judged on wins and loses?
think it’s cool to be talking about trading away vjack? hahaha so glennon is so good he can do it without our best pass catcher..bunch of idiots were gonna go 0-17 because we got beat in the freakin bye week
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:22 pm

Great article….everyone needs to read….Schiano good & bad perspective from a QB with him for 3 years…I will post it again.

The only person unhappy with this news is his dealer, errr, i mean Doctor!
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:23 pm
No one would trade for Freeman.
Why would they? Schiano childishly destroyed that relationship, to the point that it was obvious They would have to release him.
Let’s see what happens now.
Anyone stupid enough to believe the BS released during the smear campaign, deserves to be a fan of this amateur hour coach.
The team has already had one meeting about Schiano. They are turning on him in droves.
This is one player revolt, that has my full support.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:23 pm
Three starter in three days, released and no one to replace them. No tight end, no safety,no quarter back,no coach, no G.M. AND NO FANS.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:24 pm
I hope the FHP is patrolling the Skyway.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:24 pm
Buc4lyfe you’re making people’s arguments for them. He now has better talent than 2010 and is playing substantially worse. Thats about a clear sign of the massive regression he’s had as it gets. If you think Josh Freeeman is gonna be a great QB based off what he did 3 years ago, you must think Derek Anderson will be too based of his very good 2007 season, which included the Pro Bowl.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:25 pm
Thanks TBBF
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:25 pm
Ill miss Freeman.
It sucks to see your city’s name be ruined by all the controversy. Freeman wasn’t the problem. Someone else needs to get fired. Someone from the top aka Schiano and Dominick
Ps I loved our GM but he overpays free agents and the trades away great players for cheap picks
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:25 pm
yes you retard because schiano was the one that started all this mess and glennon was not ready to start
and if your telling me that cutting the quarterback thats been here for 5 years and never missed a game even with a broken finger for a rookie with one start and dan orvlosky who’s never played in a meaningful game for us is a good move for THE TEAM then your we’ll see. all this celebrating as if the problem is all behind us is what’s laughable… but once again just like when glennon got his first start lol just wait just wait and see
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:26 pm
I wish Freeman well. He’ll get another shot to start in the NFL. He didn’t show the same attitude an commitment the past several months as he did in the previous years. Somehow, something went wrong and he veered off track. Hopefully he can help another team. Unfortunately it didn’t work in Tampa.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:27 pm

October 3rd, 2013 at 3:27 pm
Anyone want to predict how many Division, Conference, and SB titles this former 1st rounder will win now that he’s gone?
Zero is my prediction.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:28 pm
Good for Josh. He doesn’t deserve anymore unnecessary bashing and mind tricks from the Bucs and now he can move on and light it up in this league like I believe he can and like he showed he can, just needs to be more consistent. My sleeper team that he might end up with is the Texans. We will see.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:29 pm
Anybody know Freeman’s phone number? Because, all this $#!+ has me needing some Adderall!
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:29 pm
ok dude psycho whatever lol so your telling me that freeman regressed but our offensive imagination didnt? sooo freakin slow lol so you guys are saying that this coaching staff…this coaching staff is going to help develop glennon? lol then hey you got me…got me laughing at you but whatever were all good now lol freeman is gone but wait wasnt he gone last week? wasnt he gone when we couldnt complete a pass over 20yards….we should have drafted a tight end but its ok because schiano wont be here to draft one next year
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:30 pm
buc4lyfe…one could easily argue that YOUR not a Bucs fan. Since you don’t support Schiano or Glennon. Why don’t you just go crawl into a closet and hide until the season is over? I’d hate for you to have to suffer any longer with us Buc fans.

“Anyone stupid enough to believe the BS released during the smear campaign”
Your referencing the “BURN SCHIANO BURN!!! SMEAR CAMPAIGN” right?
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:33 pm
@Jim
I believe it would be fitting.
Say whatever you want. Freeman was the best QB this franchise has ever had. How many fans were expecting this offense to dominate this year? I know I was. If you want to tell me about his terrible stats in those 1st games; then, don’t forget to also mention how the 1st 2 would have been won, thanks to Freeman, if not for the defense allowing the opponents to drive down the field & kick FGs to win. They just cut their best chance to win. If any of you thinks this team wins more than 5 games, even with all this talent, just stop smoking crack, so you can sober up to see Glennon as the reason why they will have not.
I would not have benched Freeman. I would have given him 4 more games, but he’s gone. All you Freeman haters, hope you like the result of your wishes. I don’t believe in the very short-sighted Schiano, Dominik, Sullivan, or the owners. I feel bad for the rest of the team. I do believe Schiano wants all this go squarely on his shoulders; it does, & he definitely will be the target now if they don’t win, but no pressure on this rookie, who hasn’t impressed me, no, just win, that’s all, Glennon, 6 games, do it! Yeah, you got this, no problem. Right!
Freeman sucked; something I wanted to hear come out of his mouth. He didn’t show that fire. Was it all him? NO, but he gets treated like a leper, not teammate, certainly not a “franchise QB.” Unfortunately for him, he gave Schiano the ammunition he needed to get rid of him.
Well, while Glennon keeps trying to figure out this Giants offense that will not work for this team, you all who think that this was for the best, just thank Schiano for another fine season of losing. Let’s stand up & clap for Schiano! Yay! You did it, Coach(es)! You took the best offense this team has ever had and squashed it like a bug. Good job, you! PROVE ME WRONG, PLEASE! It’s all on you, Coach!
5 wins or less & heads should roll. Idiots! Embarrassing!
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:34 pm
Patriots just might grab him. I wouldn’t be shocked.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:35 pm
Wow, I really feel let down. Schiano should have worked with Josh instead of shaming him off the team. I really think with the right plan and personal coaching, Freeman could have resurrected his Buc career, but this coach never really let him and along the way it ate at Josh and his confidence. I imagine its hard to play for a man who can stand in front of you and smile all the while stabbing you in the back. Schiano may not have set him up to fail but he certainly didn’t put him in a position to succeed either. That’s ok Josh go on with your career and you will probably make the playoffs before us. Good Luck young man!!!
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:35 pm
How many of you hope Glennon fails because you hate Schiano?
I’m not asking if you think he will fail or if you think Schiano should be fired. I’m asking if you HOPE he fails?
Lets see if there are any who will admit it.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:35 pm
I’m just left wondering why Schianopolean wasn’t released with Freeman. If anyone @ One Buc deserves to be jobless in the NFL, it is he.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:35 pm
Oil Derrick Brooks …lol I’m not making any predictions on that. I predict Dilfer would never do a damn thing when he left the team.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:35 pm
Didn’t Freeman win his first start.
Glennon scored 10 points, and lost. Against a team that could barely get 11 defenders on the field. Against a team we were favored against.
But don’t pile on Glennon. While he lacks a lot of necessary talents- no QB could win with this scheme
I can’t help but laugh. Even when three or four expert sources point out that our Rutgers offense is horrible, you still have idiots ignoring them- and blaming the QBs.
Man!! That’s really a stupid fan!!
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:35 pm
Close the door, turn the page, let’s move on and hope that the Bucs Owners have learned from all these horrific decisions they’ve made since deciding to fire Gruden….
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:35 pm
Buc4lyfe
He’s gone, it’s ok… you’ll survivee
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:36 pm
Now that I saw a bit more of Buclyfe’s post, losing “the best QB” we had is irrelevant when the “best qb” we had is the 33rd best QB in the league at present. Just because he was the “best QB” on the roster does not mean he’s a good QB.
And if you wanna blame the coaching then what of the record breaking season last year I keep hearing about? Was the a miracle fluke? Was Josh actually the OC last year without us knowing?
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:36 pm
Same circus, different clowns. And if Freeman starts lighting it up like he did in 2010 with whatever team lands him, everybody will be calling for Schiano’s head like never before. I don’t think Freeman will get a starting gig, but at least he won’t be treated as poorly as when he was a backup for the Bucs.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:37 pm
FLBoyInDallas,
Aren’t you the ignorant fool that wanted to hire that disgraced Mario Cristobal that was fired and run off from FIU before we hired the fool we have now? Talk about fools, I’m surprised you even show your face around here.
I thought it was such a stupid idea that I saved your posts to Word. Anytime you want me to play it back for you I will. So ease up on calling others fools around here. Got it?
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:37 pm
@jb
enjoy it my friend write it down take a picture…but apparently since freeman is gone people think all of a sudden we can start winning now but ok we will see who were blaming in a few weeks…we got beat by the cardinals…..the cardinals and he’s going up against another crappy defense when we play the eagles, our defense is going to have to hold every team to zero points because glennon and schiano melted away in the 4th quarter
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:38 pm
I was a huge Josh Freeman fan. I always defended him. Despite that, I understand the decision had to be made, and I’m fine with it.
What I’m not fine with is fans who want to keep all blame away from Schiano. Take off your blinders. This guy has run our franchise into the ground. People keep saying we should want MORE from our QB, and that Josh isn’t cutting it. Well, we should want MORE from the leader of our franchise.
We’ve become the laughing stock of the entire league. Fire Schiano. It’s the only way out of this mess.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:38 pm
Capt Tim, stop living in the past.
2010 is ancient history, just like Freeman.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:39 pm
I ask that question for this reason. I am getting the feeling that there are fans who are not Buc Fans first….they are Freeman fans first or Schiano haters first and after that…they are Buc fans.
Like Rafael….all he posts is F$uk Schiano….
I’d like to hear from you Rafael….are you a Buc fan?
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:40 pm
Its funny, Glennon stepped in (on extreme short notice) as a 3rd round rookie and matched the performance of a 5 year vet, who was a 1st round draft pick. Let that roll around in your brain for a few minutes.
So long Freeman. Youre someone elses hangover now.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:40 pm
Freeman threw for 4000 yards last season and what 27 TD’s. He did all this under Schiano. Something Schiano bashers forget or choose to forget.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:41 pm
For all of the classless goons commenting here I have to ask, who will you blame when the Bucs lose to the Eagles and then to the Falcons?
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:41 pm
“All you Freeman haters, hope you like the result of your wishes.”
Damn straight. He wasn’t getting any better. Same mistakes. With Sullivan. Also before Sullivan ever showed. He was the same guy he was in HS and college.
I don’t care if it’s Glennon or they determine it’s someone else, but, we are no longer treading water waiting for Freeman to become accurate and consistent. Especially if he wasn’t committed off the field.
If Schiano gets canned eventually, don’t care. Same for Dominick (even moreso, he drafted Freeman, and is responsible for all FA’s and coaches).
Moving on. And finally Freeman is gone. The beer will be extra cold tonight and I will be toasting a certain BBF poster. Cheers!
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:42 pm
WRONG
I could give a rats ass what Freeman does with his career once he puts on another jersey. Fact is he couldn’t cut it HERE and that’s the only thing I care about.
Whether he light it up elsewhere or not, he failed and lost more than he won while he was here. That is all that I care about.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:42 pm
@bucrightoff
haha oh my god do you realize how simple minded that comment was…man i need to post that again
bucrightoff “Just because he was the “best QB” on the roster does not mean he’s a good QB.”
freeman sucked but everything behind him is worse…to think a rookie wont go through struggles is shortsighted besides he cant run like all the other succsessful qb’s did last year with the expect of luck because he was actually a good qb
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:43 pm
@87, no no no, remember it’s the ancient Rutgers offense. This could NOT have happened. NFL statistics be damned.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:43 pm
Tampabaybucfan
If you can’t guarantee that Glennon is better than Freeman then whats the point answering your loaded question just to give you ammunition to ridicule whoever.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:44 pm
Freeman is gonna be somewhere in middle of Dilfer and Young as his career goes forward I’d say. But he could land in Houston, think they having Schaub issues and Freeman could step into a great situation there. Just a theory of a Buc fan, and a Freeman supporter. I don’t like what Schiano has done to a promising roster and a once promising QB. I dont have an answer that fixes our team, wish I did. But, as true Buccaneer fan I’ll support the players that are here busting their asses for us fans. Go Bucs! !!!
P.S. Dear Glazers, fire this bully and hire a coach that can handle being a professional
Thank You
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:44 pm
I just picked up wright on my FF team. Finally we will have a QB who will use the TE!!!!!!!!!!!!
GTFO josh. LOL
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:45 pm
Maybe Freebow can play tight end or wide receiver somewhere.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:46 pm
“to think a rookie wont go through struggles”
Nope your wrong,
We all expect Glennon to struggle as most rookies would, we EXPECT growing pains. We just don’t EXPECT that kind of play from a 5th year vet. So we’ll take it where it’s logical and go with Glennon. 😉
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:46 pm
Glennon will improve more over the course of one season than Freeman did in his ENTIRE career. And that’s not even saying much.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:46 pm
The Lodge in South Tampa will probably go out of business now that their best client is leaving town.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:46 pm
This team has been unprofessional ever since January 17, 2009. Not once since then have I been proud to be a Bucs fan.
It starts at the top. The Glazers need to fire Dominick, fire Schiano, etc. They need to hire an experienced GM that will hire an experienced head coach. And they keep the rest of our good players here (Jackson, Williams, Revis, and so on).
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:48 pm
He couldn’t get rid of the ball.
The Bucs have been loosing since 2011….regardless of coaching staff.
Regardless, I’m greatfull for the 2010 season.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:49 pm
but at least he won’t be treated as poorly as when he was a backup for the Bucs.
—————————————
Yea im sure he was treated terribly in the 8 days he was a back up/3rd string inactive QB. I’m sure his unauthorized interview 1 day after the benching where he says “I will try my best” then turns around and says he wants a trade had nothing to do with it. I’m sure he used a majority of the 6 MILLION pay check on tissues to blow his nose with. My heart just aches for the guy.’
Btw, how can you all call Schiano a liar when there is NO proof he has lied about anything… but yet Freeman, just 1 day after getting benched, clearly lied by saying “he will try his best” then in the same interview turns around and says he wants a trade… and none of you call HIM a liar.
Freemanites for the WIN!!
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:50 pm
Tampabaybucsfan
Hope?? Hope is for idiots, that don’t know what they are looking at, or understand how to breakdown tape.
I know that none of you can remember, but I beat this scheme to death all spring!! I repeatedly said, who’s attacking the middle of the field?? No Slot, no TE??? Only 2 WRs- and the defense already knows their routes!! This is the damn Rutgers Offense!!!
So hope?? Hell- I ALREADY TOLD EVERYONE HERE THIS WOULD HAPPEN!!!
And I said if they played the same offense- THAT EVERY DEFENSE HAS FIGURED OUT!!! , then Schiano would be fired!
So,if you did nothing but regurgitate what I posted- you wouldn’t have to guess- and you’d look like a prophet!! And you’d realize how stupid some of these guys are, blaming Any QB for this BS offense. That’s why Josh asked to be traded before the draft!!
Only thing I didn’t predict- was this bush league, scumbag attempt to get out of paying Freman. Never though this franchise, with a Class act like the glazers running it- would allow anything that low and embarrassing to happen.
That’s the one that makes me Question where the orders came from?
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:51 pm
Glennon better improve starting the next game or I’m gonna go on a “Fire Schiano” rampage in my loudest obnoxious voice next. We should be 1-3 we better not be 0-5 especially after him saying he gonna win 12 in a row.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:52 pm
“Hope is for idiots”
OH THE IRONY!!!! lololol
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:53 pm
OK….we have to deal with what we have…
At least Glennon provides a boatload of cash to buy a TE & 3rd WR…
And, either he develops into a starter or he doesn’t…If he doesn’t we can go to the draft or FA for the QB, WR & TE.
I think Glennon will improve perhaps not good enough to be elite..but if our defense continues to improve, he only needs to be a good QB…not elite.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:53 pm
Capt. Tim is SOOOOOO Smart – just ask him!
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:55 pm
We need to sign a QB and Quick. If Glennon gets hurt we have Dan “the Cannon” Orlansky taking over. Might as well bring in Tebow and sell some tickets. I was at the Bucs-Cards game and RJS was half empty. Sad.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:58 pm
“But go ahead and take this team. You can have it, lol! I’m washing my hands of it! And I’m washing my hands of this lowlife coach. To match his lowlife fans.”
What a fan! Don’t let the door hit you in the ass

Try writing a decent article – you won’t have to work so hard to delete those that correct you.
This is a chance to wish Josh Freeman good luck – it’s not an opportunity to prove to us – again – who you really are (not that your dimwit, rabble rousing isn’t appreciateed by the dimwit rabble – it’s ok, you can let that go, your followers wouldn’t understand it anyway).
Josh Freeman was a good young man who had the great misfortune to be drafted by this franchise – as it turns out – he was better than the other two QB’s selected before him (Mark Sanchez and Matt Stafford). The franchise has been in complete dissaray – it’s hard to blame the young QB.
He deserves to find a stable franchise – where the owners, GM and head coach (probably NOT one with ANY Rutgers ties), are all on the same page. A place where the direction isn’t changing every 18 months.
The fanbase now knows the head coach is a bully and a dictator – he’s the guy you media types told us Jon Gruden was…only now you media types are FOR this coach – and AGAINST the PLAYER.
Just so YOU media types know what’s goiong on – the UNION (you know, your “brothers”) is investigating Schiano, Dominik, and the owners. The NFL is so worried they’re investigating too…Freeman may be the subject that got them interested, but something bigger than Josh is afoot here – and those rumors will only stop once they’re following Schiano out of town.
…but, this is Josh Freeman’s day – so, Good Luck, Josh!
…something tells me we hardly knew ye…but we’re about to.
PS Since you have my email – if Moron Joe deletes this – please send me yours. That way we can ignore one another on equal terms!
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:58 pm
If we are at the point where the only thing to look forward to is the draft then Schiano shouldn’t be making that selection. He should be gone. Our new NFL professional Head Coach should get to select his QB. Schiano already has.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:58 pm
Good. All the Freeman lovers feel free to take off.
If Schiano gets fired, he’ll get the full season. I give everyone at least 3.5 seasons of mediocrity before I start to cry foul. Just like I did with Freeman.
If someone else gets hired. I will support them too. But, at least I don’t have to watch the same mistakes Freeman made as a rookie in his fifth season.

@Sonny
I’m glad you approve, cause you know… That’s all I desire in life is your approval.
I suppose if I trashed Schiano, that would be acceptable.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:59 pm
Stafford would destroy Freeman. On and off the field.
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:01 pm
The Union will find JACK SQUAT related to the Bucs org or coaches. Just watch. That will die quietly.
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:01 pm
wow didnt know we had this many talent scouts in florida. it’s got to be laughable to say that this offense is what made freeman 9th best passer in the league last year. easily we could have been 11-5 but freeman is getting the blame for bad coaching in the last minute of games
really theres no proof schiano lied? are you one of those people who watch tv and slob with your mouth wide open thats in a total daze. whatever i can find something better to do then watch what i can clearly not going to work
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:01 pm
Just think….Shaun King thought we should have signed Freeman to a long-term deal…So, we would have had $6M plus down the drain.
“Shaun King, one of two Buc Quarterbacks that lost a NFC Championship Game when his defense gave up 11 or fewer points.”
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:01 pm
yea we’ll just watch our entire season go down the drain with a 7’0 statue.

Where is Freeman starting next year? I’ve asked it probably 50 times and not gotten an answer. Probably because the answer is “Nowhere”
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:02 pm
“really theres no proof schiano lied?”
Exactly, glad you can follow along
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:04 pm
yet ….he just got released smart guy … Man the guys gone and you still hate his guts
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:05 pm

Wait, was it the Rutgers offense????
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:05 pm

NOOOOOOOO REEAAALLLLY???? I never knew!!!! lol
Was it that obvious?
Or maybe it was because I felt like doing it?? No, couldn’t be that either.
But than again I care SOOO MUCH for your approval that you must be right…
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:08 pm
SonnyASAP…good then…go away former fairweather fan. The team does not need you either.
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:11 pm
I can’t believe how poorly some people are taking the guy who trails only Mark Sanchez in turnovers since 2011 (52-50), and technically is ahead because he has 3 more games and 4 more turnovers to add. And I bet most of you think Mark Sanchez sucks. Weird…
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:12 pm
so if Schiano made Freeman 9th best passer in his first season with Schiano then there should be reason to believe Glennon should be better than 9th in his first season with Schiano. right???? C’mon OIL answer that for me?
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:13 pm

October 3rd, 2013 at 4:14 pm
Look at all these fools. The day FINALLY comes that Freeman is gone. Now they can’t handle it. As if they never saw this coming or something. I sold my Freeman jersey for $10 three days after the Saints game.

Freemanites for the WIN!!
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:16 pm
Had to find a way around that oh so popular filter 😉
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:22 pm
I’d be happy if he weren’t the 33rd rated passed that Freeman was this year. Perhaps whatever he was doing that kept him from the team dinner and team photos and so on has distracted him from his JOB.
Glennon’s had one start of pro football. One.
It’s just too bad that Freeman couldn’t get his accuracy and consistency together over that, oh, 59 starts = 236 quarters of Pro football (Glennon’s had 4)
Again, let’s see how much Glennon improves from game 1 to game 13. It will be far more than Freeman ever improved over his career. Look at his HS and college #’s. He’s never improved.
But, Freeman’s not a Buccanner. He WILL NEVER EVER BE A BUCCANEER. So, why would I care about a free agent 1st round bust?
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:22 pm
“We all know what you resort to when you have nothing left” 😀

October 3rd, 2013 at 4:25 pm
FINALLY we as fans can move on from this guy and all the drama. It’s like a ton of bricks crashing down.
Oh wait that’s right to some fans Schiano created the drama. So will still have those kooks out there.

October 3rd, 2013 at 4:28 pm
I love how some fans think our problems are solved with Freeman gone.
Get a grip. No one likes Schiano. Coaches, media, refs, players, you name it. Which is fine if we were winning. But we’re not.
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:29 pm
Coaching is the weakness of this football team. Those problems weren’t solved with releasing Freeman.
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:29 pm
Glennon the Lemon
I’ll take him over Freebase.
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:30 pm
We know already lol 😉
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:31 pm
Freeman was not the entire problem. But to suggest he wasn’t a substantially part of it is silly. His play speaks for itself. He still stares down receivers, cannot make multiple reads and makes terrible, rookie level mistakes. Average QB play has us at 3-1 right now. Freeman needed to see the bench. Everything after that has been a mess, but he needed to be benched.
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:33 pm
The owners will decide if coaching is the problem by seasons end. The owners, GM, and coach decided Freeman wasn’t part of the solution. If they fire more, so be it. But, Freeman had more shots than any starter I have ever known. It’s over.
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:34 pm
nope it ain’t over you Glennon mobbers got your way now the rest of us will get rid of Schiano. Since you guys were so adamant about blowing up what we had we are gonna finish it for you. say goodbye to your little friend Schiano. We better not go 0-5 against (middle finger flipping @ the Bucs vacancy) Chip Kelly’s and his new Eagle squad. That would be embarrassing.

October 3rd, 2013 at 4:44 pm
I do not understand how not wanting to tolerate the mediocrity of Josh Freeman is tantamount to fully supporting Greg Schiano. Schiano has done well with the defense, but the offense is ugly as can be. He does not deserve a pass for the state of this team. He also doesn’t deserve all the blame because average QB play this year would have us at 3-1. We’re not in as dire a situation as the Freemanites think. A good QB in here next year with the same roster is a playoff team. Lets hope we get a good QB.
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:45 pm

It’s the infamous screen name flopper, what do you expect? Lol

I dare all of you to stage a Schiano anti pep rally. It will make the T_ebow rally look like a success.
What’s funny is, while I don’t think they will fire him now, if they decide to move on from the GM and coach at season’s end, there will be no crying like a girl. The best thing that Schiano did was provide a douche of all the malcontents, criminals, and the ultimate underachiever. Freeman is FINALLY gone. I am clinking my beer mug for you El_ijah!! Cheers little buddy!!!

Has anyone looked at Glennon’s college career? He regressed from his Jr to Sr year. In his Sr year he tied for the most INTs in the NCAA. I hope he improves, but he does not have a track record that would indicate he will.
October 3rd, 2013 at 5:09 pm
@Gator
Freeman has had a pro career spanning years proving he won’t.
I’ll give Glennon some time
October 3rd, 2013 at 5:10 pm
History repeats itself. Freeman will lead a team to a Super Bowl victory.
October 3rd, 2013 at 5:14 pm
@gatorbucs
How about we give him the 3/4 of a single season before everyone piles on?
Freeman got 4 seasons plus 3 games.
That seems fair , especially for a third rounder vs. a traded up 1st rounder.
October 3rd, 2013 at 5:15 pm
“Freeman has had a pro career spanning years proving he won’t.
I’ll give Glennon some time”
I don’t disagree about Freeman, he wasn’t going to get any better playing here. It was best for the team and him to move one. I just wish they would have the guts to make the move in the off-season.
I want to see Glennon succeed too, but the majority of scouting on him was ‘the most NFL ready QB in the draft, but he had peaked – no upside. What you see is what you get.”
October 3rd, 2013 at 5:17 pm
“bucrightoff Says:
I do not understand how not wanting to tolerate the mediocrity of Josh Freeman is tantamount to fully supporting Greg Schiano.”
Well said….and that guy was mediocre. We might be able to see a TE get some real work now, may have to sign one first though.
October 3rd, 2013 at 5:22 pm
I dont know why everyone just assumes that Glennon is automatically tied to Schiano. hes a 3rd round pick. I know he was drafted by the Schiano Regime, but lets face it, if he doesn’t show us anything this season Schiano wont hesitate to bring in either a veteran QB or draft one in the first round.
October 3rd, 2013 at 5:24 pm
@ Gator Bucs – Freemans strengths coming out were his size and his arm. Here’s one of the negatives:
Accuracy was abysmal in junior year … Locks on to receivers and shows below-average field vision … Wildly inconsistent; runs hot and cold … Questionable leadership … Intangibles will go under the microscope by pro scouts who can talk to KSU players and coaches.
Sounds pretty spot on. Maybe neither are the answer. But, I’ve seen enough from Freeman already. If Glennon isn’t it, then back to the well.
October 3rd, 2013 at 5:25 pm
Glennon might make the Rutgers TE look like Manning is making that Portland State TE. Much to the Captains chagrin.
October 3rd, 2013 at 5:33 pm
Waaaaahhhhhh! ‘snifff’ Josh is gone!!!!!!!!!! Wahhhhhhhhhh!!
And we are going to miss him how????? Put the kleenex down guys. After 5 years it’s time to turn the page. Personally I’m excited. I don’t know what we have in Glennon but I know enough from watching one game that he ain’t gonna be any worse than Freeman right out of the box. Give him time to develop and I think he could be very good. Usually with rookies it’s the decision making. Same thing with Freeman but after 5 years you get tired of that. I have no doubt Freeman can excel in the right system but that wasn’t here. Freeman needs to be moving and rolling out a lot more to be effective. He is not a good pocket passer because his sense of timing is not good. He holds the ball too long. Glennon gets the ball out much quicker. Looking forward to seeing how the rest of the year plays out.
October 3rd, 2013 at 5:35 pm
@ Oil Derrick Brooks
What any of this has to do with Glennon, or really the Bucs at this point I don’t know.
October 3rd, 2013 at 5:37 pm
@Splengo
I don’t remember being a strong advocate of hiring Cristobal. What I remember is predicting that Schiano would hire him because of their connection coaching together. I thought he’d be hired as the OC or at least the OL coach. He is currently the OL coach at #1 Alabama, but I guess that means nothing right? Only the top program in the nation. Nick Saban couldn’t possibly know a thing or two about qualified coaches, right?
Have you noticed how FIU has gone from being respectable and competitive with even the big programs under Cristobal, to being an utter laughingstock under former Bucs QB coach Ron Turner? Yeah, I thought you might have conveniently left that part out. So before you use so-called “evidence” you might want to make sure the guy you’re criticizing is actually a bad coach, not a really good one. Makes you sound like an idiot.
October 3rd, 2013 at 5:39 pm
“I dont know why everyone just assumes that Glennon is automatically tied to Schiano. hes a 3rd round pick. I know he was drafted by the Schiano Regime, but lets face it, if he doesn’t show us anything this season Schiano wont hesitate to bring in either a veteran QB or draft one in the first round.”
————-
That’s the problem right there. You just said it yourself. How many draft picks are we going to waste on QB’s. These picks are valuable. A third round pick is nothing to turn your nose up to, unless you consider some of our past 3rd round picks. For your information, a third round pick is almost always supposed to be a starter, just not usually immediately as a first or second. You can’t keep drafting and bringing in QB’s and expect to keep your job. Ask Jon Gruden.
October 3rd, 2013 at 5:50 pm
This is one Bucs fan that still thinks Freeman gave this team a better shot at winning games this year than Glennon that won’t go away, won’t jump ship to another team because of a player. The Bucs are my team, I (like many of you regarding Freeman @ QB) disagree with what the team is doing right now. I don’t believe they are doing everything they can to give us a winning product. That doesn’t mean I am changing to another team, I am a fan of the Bucs. I disagree with many of you, especially the ones gloating about us getting rid of the QB that gave us a better shot at winning.
If you don’t believe me and if you have access to watch last week’s game, I implore that you watch the pass plays very carefully. Watch the extremely poor mechanics of Glennon. Over rotating his hips. Rarely getting out onto his front foot, preferring to use pure arm strength than good technique, even when not under pressure. Even when moving forward, he preferred to use arm strength rather than step into the throw, he simply jumped up off his back foot rather than striding into the throw (this is the one that was almost intercepted earlier in the game). His accuracy is highly questionable. I’ll give him a pass for not being able to read NFL defenses yet, it was only his first game, but while that can develop, mechanics are much more difficult to change.
Add to the QB situation the fact that we have coaches running an offense (that the HC ran in college, not the one Sullivan was part of with the Giants) that is NOT suited to best use the talents of the players, but to force the players to make it work anyway. An offense that needs a TE or #3 WR to take advantage of all the space created underneath, but refused to add one in the off-season stating the position is of no importance. An offense that makes no adjustments when things don’t work (like running your young RB into the backs of 9 300lb men time and again when they know it’s coming).
Above all of that is a defense that also doesn’t adjust. We add the best CB to ever play the game and waste him over 50% of the time in zone coverage. Even when in man coverage, he’s not always on their best WR, as shown by LJ on Colston in the loss to the Saints. No adjustments, no wins.
When the dust settles, I’ll post more regularly again. I have simply chosen to step back and let this hurricane blow through before coming back. Why ride the tides of fans changing from supportive, to wearing bags on their heads at games, to completely flip-flopping opinions when I can simply wait and come back to discuss things with the more logical types later.
October 3rd, 2013 at 6:08 pm
If Freeman would have been drafted by a real organization and learned a real offense behind a real qb from a real coaching staff he would have developed. This team is a joke, must be all that talent that is the problem. No way you could blame the college HC for this mess, im sure he is busy right now preparing the team for the 12 game winning streak.
October 3rd, 2013 at 6:08 pm
@ Hawaiian
sorry I dont consider a 3rd round pick as valuable when it comes to drafting the QB position. for a RB or WR, sure, but not for a QB.
“a third round pick is almost always supposed to be a starter, just not usually immediately as a first or second.”
ok… how long would consider the proper amount of time before they should be starting? 5 years. that seems pretty generous amount of time, dont you think?
Well.. for YOUR information All of the 3rd round QBs that have been drafted from 2009 and years prior to that have been:
2009-none
2008-Kevin O’Connell
2007-Trent Edwards
2006-Charlie Whitehurst, Brodie Croyle
2005-Andrew Walter,David Greene
yea… not exactly “franchise QBs”. Within the the past 8 years, there has only been 1 QB to that has actually has made it, and his name is, you guessed it… Russell Wislon. so kindly get off my nuts.
October 3rd, 2013 at 6:10 pm
I dont even know why I responded to you, Im pretty sure I remember saying that I would be ignoring you from here on out.
October 3rd, 2013 at 6:13 pm
and yes I know you said starting, but MY point is that you rarely if ever find a Franchise QB in the 3rd round. history suggests that. not saying that Glennon will be a bust, but history is against him. still rooting for you Glennon.
October 3rd, 2013 at 6:16 pm
The famous Hawaiian/Andrew 1 debate commences 😀
October 3rd, 2013 at 6:18 pm
Hey Andrew…
Maybe we should just be looking at the 3rd overall QB taken instead of the round… I mean, 3rd QB taken should be the 3rd best QB in the draft, right?
2012 – Tannehill
2011 – Gabbert
2010 – Clausen
2009 – Freeman
2008 – Brohm
2007 – Kolb
2006 – Cutler
2005 – Campbell
And 5 of those were taken in the 1st round… Truth is, there is no guarantee. Even the 1st overall QB selected isn’t always “franchise” nor is any player selected #1 overall always a “franchise” guy at whatever position. Success at any position becomes much less draft skill and much more luck when you get past the first 2 or 3 guys at any position in the NFL Draft.
October 3rd, 2013 at 6:19 pm
SO my take on this is simple. Sucks he is gone, sucks another high draft pick is off the team, etc. But fact is, as someone who pays hard earned money to go cheer my Bucs on every game, I really expect one thing out of the organization, players, coaches, etc.
Just give a sh*t about winning. Never felt like Freeman cared more about winning for this town, then he did about being a young millionaire living the life.
Say what you want about our Coach, but I dont think anyone can say he doesn’t give a sh*t.
Free was a bad pick when we brought him on. He is no leader. This offense is missing a signal caller, leader. Pray we find one before all our veteran talent is past their prime or off the team.
Painful to be a BUCS fan these days…
October 3rd, 2013 at 6:19 pm
@ PR
lol. he wants facts… ok… Ill give him facts.
October 3rd, 2013 at 6:20 pm
well said BamBam.
October 3rd, 2013 at 6:24 pm
@ BamBam
I see what your saying, but thats not the argument. what Hawaiian said was ” a 3rd round pick is nothing to turn your nose up at”. I am saying at the QB position…it is. I think Ive proven that.
October 3rd, 2013 at 6:27 pm
the fact is, the guy is going to try and over analyze everything I say to try and make me look like a fool and embarrass me because of our little argument the other night. thats fine, I can play that game.
October 3rd, 2013 at 6:32 pm
Andrew – It’s funny because you’re both saying the same thing and arguing about it. We took a QB in the 3rd round. You show that 3rd round QBs aren’t usually all that good and many never start. But look at other positions in the 3rd round. What about a DE that maybe COULD start? We wasted it on a QB when we could have added talent we could use somewhere else.
So, Hawaiian.. you’re right, how many picks (of value, like 3rd round for any position other than QB) are we gonna waste? (I said the same thing when Glennon was drafted)…
And Andrew… you’re right, a 3rd round pick is something to turn your nose up at if it’s for a QB 99% of the time.
October 3rd, 2013 at 6:40 pm
@ BamBam
so its a tie lol. whatever… I still think the guy is trying to get under my skin.

so to that end, I think I will just ignore him from now on.

Go back and watch the Glennon high-lite reel and tell me you think he’s third round talent. Watch the Clemson game last year. Watch the Florida State game. I think this kid has all the tools. Whether or not he pans out remains to be seen but I don’t think it will be from lack of talent.

I don’t care. I’m worn out by Schiano and his garbage performance. I just want to win and I don’t believe Schiano could win if Peyton Manning was the QB. I see him as the crux of the problem and the longer he stays the worse things will get.
I’ve given the Bucs a lot of time and money over the years and right now I’m losing interest. Every move lately had been the wrong move.
Go Bolts! Go Rays!
Schiano can Go to Hell!

Are you done crying Andrew1? I think you need some more tissue.
So in your opinion, it’s okay to blow a third round pick, because past history suggests third round picks aren’t successful? They didn’t draft Glennon to be a backup, agreed? In that case, they wasted a draft pick. Follow me?
Another point, wouldn’t you agree QB is the most important position in the NFL? Therefore, teams tend to reach and pick QB’s early, when they really don’t believe. That’s why picking a QB in the third round is pretty rare (in comparison to how many are drafted in the first and second round).
The Bucs took the third QB available. They had every intention for him to start. If he doesn’t perform (and believe me, I hope he does), then it’s a bad draft pick. You don’t get that many bad draft picks as a coach and GM. And because QB’s are paid more and are more important to the success of your team, that position in particular you can’t keep missing on. If Schiano can’t develop Freeman, then can’t develop his guy (Glennon), then I don’t think its reasonable to allow him to “develop” a third. Bring in someone who has had some success developing QB’s, because Schiano never has.

I believe they only drafted Glennon because he was too high on their board to pass up. I think Dom even said so much. They were originally looking at Spence for their 3’rd rnd pick but the value on Glennon was just too
High. Didn’t Dom move up in the 4’th to draft Spence? Now once Glennon was picked their plans had to change. Then Free started his games and the focus on Glennon was greater. It was probably a good they drafted Glennon after the Palmer snub. I think our coach sucks and can make any good player bad.
