Bucs Will Add A Third Quarterback
October 3rd, 2013Josh Freeman is gone, but will he be replaced as a Bucs backup?
Joe has learned the Bucs will be shopping for a new QB. This could be a practice squad guy or an established player.
Don’t rule out a trade. The new Schiano Order believes it has the talent to win now, and it’s offseason movements proved it doesn’t have a lot faith that Dan Orlovsky can win football games if Mike Glennon gets knocked out.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:45 pm
Bring back Vinnie.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:46 pm
Who would want to be a part of this circus? Maybe they sign Josh to the practice squad? Lol j/k
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:47 pm
Unfortunely, Josh Freeman would have been the best backup for Glennon….but Josh wouldn’t accept that role even though he was being paid $6m.
Its also unfortunate that Josh didn’t stay because at least for now it was his best chance to start a NFL game this year. If Glennon was injured or totally stunk it up for a few games, Josh could have played again.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:51 pm
TEBOW, TEbow, tebow…
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:51 pm
TEBOW TEBOW TEBOW
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:54 pm
Please sign Tebow, we need some media exposure
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:54 pm
Any Idjit hollaring for Tebow needs to have their football IQ checked. But hell, if we’re living in fantasy land, call the NYG and offer a first rounder and cash considerations to them for Eli.
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:56 pm
How about Shaun King? He could block for himself!!!
“Shaun King, one of two Buc Quarterbacks that lost a NFC Championship Game when his defense gave up 11 or fewer points.”
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:57 pm
Tebow!!
Hell, Divine intervention is the only prayer Schiano has of winning a game!!
October 3rd, 2013 at 3:58 pm
VJax for Mallet and Thompkins. Lets do this.
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:03 pm
HAHA! The Tebow Army would destroy the Glennon Mob ;o)
No, half-seriously though…Tebow does what Schiano likes (sparks a great running game, good at deep passes), & does what he can’t do (i.e., close games out at the end). Bringing Tebow sinks your chance for Bridgewater, but the Jags are getting him anyway…I for one would rather have Tebow & Johnny Manziel than Mike Glennon & Dan O. Sadly, I think I’m in the minority on that.
But Tebow love him or hate him is the anti-Mike Glennon…play mediocre for 3 quarters, DON’T throw 2 picks the last 3 minutes to win it. Funny that people scoff at Tebow’s playoff win…which is one more playoff win than the Bucs’ boy Carson Palmer. (& Tebow’s Broncos were the 2nd worst team going into the year he took them to the playoffs).
Just the facts, don’t get all upset. Tebow’s never signing here, & probably nowhere ever again…
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:04 pm
^ Yeah, lets get rid of one of our best players for a WR nobody has ever heard of, except that he plays for the best QB and organization in the NFL. I’m sure he’ll tear it up. And let’s bring in a QB who hasn’t done squat, even in the preseason. Makes perfect sense.
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:04 pm
I feel bad for Glennon in all of this. He’s going to have to endure with, “Mike Glennon is my starting quarterback” while seeing this third quarterback receive all the first team snaps.
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:05 pm
Probably going to be the great David Carr. Don’t get your hopes up guys.
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:06 pm
I call for Matthew Hassellbeck
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:08 pm
In checking the free agent wire there is almost no one decent to bring in here to back up Glennon. I dont see Glennon surviving the trip to Seattle if our O-line does not improve by then. An earlier post had V-Jax for Mallet and Thomspon, I would be good if that if Demps and / or Page could step up and fill the void V-jax leaves behind.
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:10 pm
Whats Shawn King doing these days? Never too late fir a comeback
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:11 pm
hasselbeck for a late rd pick.
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:12 pm
YOU CAN’T FILL THE VOID OF A TOP #1 WR BY A COUPLE SMALL, SPEEDY GUYS!!!!! My goodness people, try to learn at least something about football before you post stupidity! For your own sake.
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:12 pm
I am sure Belechek is already telling Schiano “Here buddy I will give you Ryan Mallett and you give me, oh say, Vincent Jackson”. You need a QB, I need a wide Receiver, what do you say Buddy? “Yeah this is how we do things in the NFl, we all watch out for each other. “Hey your team is not going to the playoffs, lets trade Mccoy for Wilfork what do you say BUDDY”? I know Belecheck is doing this right now.
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:13 pm
Q: Lets take a look at who’s out there, who’s the best on the market?
A: Josh Freeman : /
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:13 pm
hasselback would have been nice to have around to mentor josh!
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:15 pm
Trade philly Vjax for Matt Barkley and some pics. We need a better QB and He can be the missing piece that they need on Kelly’s offense
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:15 pm
You mean the 30 year old #1 downfield receiver who no longer has a QB who will bomb it and is getting paid more than $8 mil? Yeah keep typing in caps and defend him staying and playing with glennon please
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:16 pm
Won’t help now! The die is cast for this year. Better win!
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:18 pm
Thank you for saying that Hawaiian Buc, took the words out of my mouth. Bunch of idjits
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:18 pm
and then bring in Hasslebeck to mentor him and start until barkley is ready
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:22 pm
“You mean the 30 year old #1 downfield receiver who no longer has a QB who will bomb it and is getting paid more than $8 mil? Yeah keep typing in caps and defend him staying and playing with glennon please”
——
Yeah, that guy. The guy who is a team captain, and our best offensive player. The guy who hasn’t missed a game, and never complains about anything. The guy that is great in the community, and everything you would ever want in a professional athlete in Tampa. And who’s to say Glennon will be here next year, and who’s to say Glennon can’t throw the deep ball? Vincent is coming off his best season ever, with Freeman as his QB (not exactly Tom Brady). It’s amazing how the guy who literally was the talk of the Pro bowl amongst the players has all of a sudden become washed up. Perhaps it may have something to do with him running the same routes over and over (as confirmed by Peterson and Talib), and being double covered. I highly suggest you get the all 22 footage, so you can be educated as to what’s really going on.
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:25 pm
“Trade philly Vjax for Matt Barkley and some pics. We need a better QB and He can be the missing piece that they need on Kelly’s offense”
———
This right here is proof that drugs are bad. SMDH
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:29 pm
If they ever got rid of Jackson or any of our pro bowl players in the near future, I’m done. I have never been more angry as a fan than I am now. They better fire the GM, get an experienced coach (MARTY!) and sign a veteran quarterback. This team has drafted quarterback after quarterback and can’t even hit on one by accident.
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:33 pm
Schottenheimer? BAHAHHAHAHhHHahahahah
Yall need to chill. Thank your lucky stars we syill have a defense and havent hung it up before the year even started like the Jags.
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:40 pm
VJax for Kirk Cousins……….make it happen……..rather have Cousins than Mallet…..but I see insider trading with the BFF Bellicheat and Shitano for sure…….
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:41 pm
Call Vince young. Sign him to a one year minimum contract. Start him; win a couple of games. If he succeeds sign him for a couple more years and draft clowney to spark a pass rush; draft a jimmy graham, type tight end in the second; and tahj Boyd in the later rounds and groom him into a franchise player. Make the switch next year. Trade Vince to whomever has a qb problem for a pick and draft a linebacker and another bell cow running back to help out Doug. And find a fullback and we are a contender.
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:44 pm
Yes Tebow. Let Glennon play the first half and Tebow the second one, we’d win every game 🙂
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:48 pm
Wow.
You mean Schiano didn’t have a plan for what would happen after he benched Freeman for MG8?
Wait, he did. His name is Dan Orlovsky.
They nplanned this – see, Schiano’s so sure those two qare the answer, they didn’t need anyone else.
If you think this puts the fire out on the coach – wait for the interceptions and losses mount.
…or the NFLPA/NFL investigation into disclosure of private information starts digging in.
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:50 pm
F Teblow.
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:51 pm
Mr T that’s clever
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:53 pm
Is the game just going to be name any player you’ve ever heard of, as if he is going to be the solution? That sounds like a lot of fun. Totally ignorant and unrealistic, but fun.
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:55 pm
Brace yousef fools… it will be Adam Weber
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:59 pm
“You mean the 30 year old #1 downfield receiver who no longer has a QB who will bomb it and is getting paid more than $8 mil? Yeah keep typing in caps and defend him staying and playing with glennon please”
——–
You mean the best offensive player we have on the team. The team captain (that always goes over well to trade away the team captain midseason. I’m sure the players will understand and fight hard). The guy who doesn’t miss any games, doesn’t complain, and is great in the community. The guy who had the biggest buzz amongst the Pro Bowl players. The guy who just came off of a career year. Yeah, that guy.
October 3rd, 2013 at 5:04 pm
All the fools had to do was sign Freeman to a new deal – as New England did with Drew Bledsoe. They could have cut him and all would be well.
Instead – they tried to go cheap and manipulate a player – like they o in college. You know, where they wear ou down because you don’t have any choice if you want to keep your sholarship…
They negotiated like bullies – it cost the Glazers the guy they had already invested $50 mil in, the GM and HC they allowed to run the kid out of town – and the resultant investigation into using the disclosure of private information in order to smear and silence Freeman until the end of the year.
Because, when it’s all over, signing Freeman will look like the cheap way out.
October 3rd, 2013 at 5:06 pm
The gavel:Rap! Rap! Sold to the lowest bidder! Because the other guy is picking up the tab! You know, I get Schiano. But I honestly thought Dominik was way smarter than this.
October 3rd, 2013 at 5:12 pm
Anyone calling for us to trade away VJax is a complete tool.
October 3rd, 2013 at 5:13 pm
“Anyone calling for us to trade away VJax is a complete tool.”

Thank you!!!
October 3rd, 2013 at 5:13 pm
Thanks again Ms.Cleo, I mean White Tiger, you still haven’t told me where to purchase that crystal ball at…
October 3rd, 2013 at 5:19 pm
I would expect a vet. Schiano knows he has to do some winning to calm things down and keep his job. If anything would happen to Glennon then he’s got to have someone he feels can step in and win. This could mean a trade of some kind, we’ll see
October 3rd, 2013 at 5:20 pm
Leadership?
V-Jax Captain of the Offense and Butter Finger Committee. (Who else noticed how often this dude either fell or was thrown to the Ground.
Good Luck Glennon! “NO EXCUSE FOR FAILURE” Same rules apply THIS BUCCANEER TEAM IS LOADED ON OFFENSE.
Glennon is 24 and his predecessor was 25. THE MOB WON…NOW ENJOY!
October 3rd, 2013 at 5:25 pm
Lol get the hell out of here with that unfounded nonsense.
One game where he had some uncharacteristic drops and tools begin to ramble nonsense about a player that just delivered the best season of his career and went to the pro bowl for this team?
That this season FOR THE MOST PART has produced when he’s had the balls actually delivered to him which has been rare to do the fact that he has had poor or inexperienced QB play?
Lol Please
October 3rd, 2013 at 5:29 pm
BYE BYE
“JoeBucsFan”
I no longer qualify to participate! I AM NO LONGER A BUCS FAN!
Good Luck Rooting for this Franchise Guys….its been a blast for the last 36 Years.
October 3rd, 2013 at 5:32 pm
@Rahb,
You’re such a fool, I’m really going to enjoy this. First of all, he was voted team captain, so yes he is a leader. Why don’t you go back and read what has been said by countless players, coaches, and members of the media since the day he arrived in Tampa. A couple drops, yet you ignore he’s a legitimate star in the NFL. All 31 other teams would love to have him.
This team is loaded on offense? Exactly how? You already said Jackson isn’t any good, so we’ll take him off the table. Mike Williams? Nice player, but no 1000 yard seasons in 3 full season doesn’t exactly make him Calvin Johnson now does it? Doug Martin is a great RB, but he’s being overworked, and he has absolutely nowhere to run. So where are we loaded? Tight end? LMAO. Slot WR? LMFAO. Where’s all this loaded talent? We literally have the worst tight ends and slot WR’s in the NFL, by a mile. But yeah, we are loaded.
October 3rd, 2013 at 5:34 pm
NewsFlash,
You were never a Bucs fan
Adios Rahb!!!!
October 3rd, 2013 at 5:38 pm
NOBODY WILL WANT TO PLAY HERE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been a Bucs fan since day 1….went to their 1st ever preseason game and had season tixs all but the early 80’s…I have expirienced every emotion along the way until now….I am now Ashamed….
October 3rd, 2013 at 5:39 pm
Five Bucks they bring in David Carr.
October 3rd, 2013 at 5:41 pm
Well then how about leaving the site like you promised instead of continuing to cry like a child.
October 3rd, 2013 at 5:42 pm
Plenty will
October 3rd, 2013 at 5:43 pm
You laugh at Tebow but remember in 2011 he helped lead the broncos to the playoffs behind a strong defense? Dude is clutch.
October 3rd, 2013 at 5:48 pm
could be mcilroy from the jets
October 3rd, 2013 at 5:49 pm
Bring in Vince Young if I was Dom just to piss off Schiano
October 3rd, 2013 at 5:51 pm
Anyone campaigning to keep Jackson is an idiot!!
The NFL is all about Windows. Ours just closed. Freeman should have been maturing into the best years of his career.
Due to two Shi*^y rookie coaches, it didn’t happen.
Now, we start over.
Even if Glennon was the answer at QB( he isn’t), it’s going to take any Rookie QB 3/4 years to adjust to life in the NFL, and be ready to start making a playoff run- unless he lands on a playoff ready team, that may get there sooner( but won’t win). That ain’t us.
We are missing Key components( like, say a QB).
So if Glennon or yet-to-be-Aquired QB start their voyage to maturity this year- and it takes them 3 years to develop
How old will Jackson be? 35 or 36. To old to be a major factor for a SuperBowl drive.
You dumbas*es are thinking like fans.”ooo! Meybe we can win 76 games next year!!! Ooo boy!
GMs start with a franchise QB, then surround him with young players- to grow and mature with, until they think the team is ready to make a run!
Then, they bring in the Probowl players( Nicks, Jackson,Revis, Goldson), high dollar guys, for a short term goal.
We did that. It blew up. Back to the Drawing board!! It’s why we didn’t sign free agents when Freeman was a rookie. Built with young guys thru the draft.
Year 5- load up with talent- make your run!!
Our”run” is over. It died without a peep.
There is no reason on earth to keep these Probowlers around for 4 years, to watch a baby QB learn to play.
I know you dummies won’t get it. But bad news for you- if they are 30 or more- their days are numbered.
Starting over
October 3rd, 2013 at 5:57 pm
Slow down Gatherspeed,
David Carr has only thrown 61 passes since 2007. That’s a step back from Orlavsky. No easy fix here.
October 3rd, 2013 at 5:57 pm
“Anyone campaigning to keep Jackson is an idiot!!”
OH THE IRONY!!!!!!!!! Lololol
October 3rd, 2013 at 6:00 pm
Cause in todays day and age 4 years is a MUST to win with a young QB…
Lol wow you give me good laughs.
Or have you purchased a crystal ball from the same place White Tiger did???
Ms.Cleo 2.0???
October 3rd, 2013 at 6:09 pm
Say what you want, but Tebow can win games.
I never thought he was worth a darn out of college, but his track record in Denver spoke for itself.
Look, Freeman had a 59 passer rating, and Glennon last game had a 55. Both guys lost games for a defense that probably deserves to be 4-0.
If the Bucs add Tebow, in what way can things get worse? And they may get way better cause he wins. Then everybody at One Buc starts looking like a genius.
October 3rd, 2013 at 6:10 pm
Idiocy runs strong tonight.
October 3rd, 2013 at 6:14 pm
Newsflash to the noobs…Schiano and Sully want a pure pocket passer. Not Russel, Tebow or such. They won’t trade a high pick for one either.
The only reason I could see Tebow is for ticket sales…but they are all ready close to selling out.
Anyway…one of two things are about to happen. Either Schiano gets fired or everything calms down. If the later then the good bet is that Freeman’s agent caused the ruckus.
October 3rd, 2013 at 6:15 pm
I understand they contacted Tebow but he had already put Tampa Bay in the same category with the Arena league.
October 3rd, 2013 at 6:16 pm
zam Says:
“Look, Freeman had a 59 passer rating…”
I thought it was 49?
October 3rd, 2013 at 6:17 pm
Any Rutgers QBs around?
October 3rd, 2013 at 6:18 pm
“Either Schiano gets fired or everything calms down. If the later then the good bet is that Freeman’s agent caused the ruckus.”
Reason… Rare these days.
October 3rd, 2013 at 6:22 pm
Capt. Tim Says:
October 3rd, 2013 at 5:51 pm
Anyone campaigning to keep Jackson is an idiot!!
Capt Tim, you’re right on the money…trading VJax while he still has alot of value is what needs to happen “if” we can get value or a solid QB (Cousins, Mallet)…what good is he with Glennon back there this year or next…only a matter of time before he starts squwaking about lack of throws / plays his way…He’s a star yes….but we’re in deeper waters than VJax can pull us out of at this time…..
October 3rd, 2013 at 6:22 pm
@Capt. Tim,
I’m not going to get into it with you on this. You’ve been right all along with Schiano, so I have to give you your props on this one. However, I disagree that we have to start all over. First of all, there are cases where QB’s didn’t need 3-4 years. Big Ben won a super bowl in year 2. Hell, even Mark Sanchez made it to the AFC Championship his first 2 years. RG3, Andrew Luck, and Russell Wilson all made the playoffs as rookies. I grant you it doesn’t happen very often, but there are cases, especially in today’s pass happy NFL. Also, if we are able to get a free agent QB, that would also help. Of course, we must hire a real coach or none of this matters. If we keep Schiano, then all bets are off. I believe we are close enough that we can turn this thing around quickly, but there are some MAJOR holes that need to be filled.
Beyond that, it’s a crushing blow to the fanbase. I am of the belief that that matters. It matters to me. I’m not ready to rebuild, and I’d imagine a lot of fans aren’t either. I would imagine the Glazers aren’t either, with all the money they’ve invested to win now.
October 3rd, 2013 at 6:22 pm
Brett Favre.
October 3rd, 2013 at 6:25 pm
Well said Hawaiian, we actually agree 😀
October 3rd, 2013 at 6:29 pm
What a waste of money. It would be cheaper to pay Schiano to stay home and hire someone who can run a professional football team.
October 3rd, 2013 at 6:29 pm
What I don’t get is why do we have orlovsky if we don’t have any faith in him??? The only thing by them looking at another QB says they obviously don’t trust him so why keep him….
October 3rd, 2013 at 6:40 pm
Yes, that’s true. We may also have some QB prospects right here on our roster playing other positions. They’re already athletes, so we should just let them go out and throw ther ball. Then we just take 3 years to figure out if any of them could do there jobs and learn QB in the evening – and that’s how I conqured the NFL…
Signed PRBF and Hawaiian.
You have missed your calling – if you stick around, you can get a real treat – I EYE-Rah Kaufmann will be back and you can lick his boots!
October 3rd, 2013 at 6:42 pm
It’s Ms.Cleo!!!!! I mean White Tiger…
Where can I get that damn crystal ball your using? For the last time lol..
October 3rd, 2013 at 6:44 pm
Couldn’t take any longer than the time we wasted waiting for Free to come around..
Which by the way, never happened.
October 3rd, 2013 at 6:52 pm
@PR
It’s not a crystal ball they are using. It’s a magic 8 ball.
October 3rd, 2013 at 6:59 pm
Where can you get a crystal ball like mine?
Following Hugh Culverhouse’s teams from 1976 to 1996, then the Glazers from 1996 till now…probably while your diapers were being changed and before you had your first beer – I was paying attention.
Other than that, keep posting the tripe you do, the smarter posters will happily shorten your learning curve.
You should be reading twice as much as you type…not the other wayt ’round.
Other than that – you’re on your own.
October 3rd, 2013 at 7:17 pm
False,
I repeat where can I get one of your crystal balls???
October 3rd, 2013 at 7:19 pm
We know that’s a lie Ms.Cleo or else many of us would all have one of your crystal balls, but we don’t.
I am so jealous of your ability to peer into the future like that.
Man, that is SO AWESOME.
October 3rd, 2013 at 7:19 pm
@Couch lol maybe that’s it.
October 3rd, 2013 at 7:22 pm
PrBucFan,
You won’t understand. You never would.
But understand this.
By the start if next season- most of our 30 plus players will be gone.
The more talented- the more likely they will be traded or released.
I repeat. By the start of next season- most of our 30 year old players will be gone. Especially the talented ones.
October 3rd, 2013 at 7:23 pm
Thanks for that Ms.Cleo 2.0
I appreciate it
October 3rd, 2013 at 8:33 pm
Matt Flynn? Just got demoted….to 3rd string
October 3rd, 2013 at 9:39 pm
This coach has developed a reputation as a racist among the other player in the n.f.l. Good luck 01-15,watch how many players, become hurt and can not play, they have quit on you coach so blame every one but your self. who you going to cut next V.JACK.
October 3rd, 2013 at 9:56 pm
Third QB? I thought a team had to have 2 in order to get a third. We don’t have one!
October 3rd, 2013 at 10:16 pm
Racist?
Proof?
October 3rd, 2013 at 10:36 pm
Why not get rid of Schiano, let Butch Davis keep an eye on the ship, and have the OC and the DC and Wannestadt run their units. Orlovsky is a professional QB, I really believe we got a better chance with him. Glennon needs too much work.
October 3rd, 2013 at 10:50 pm
look at the cuts he has made since he has being the head coach, player’s talk.
October 3rd, 2013 at 11:08 pm
Again..
Proof?
October 3rd, 2013 at 11:09 pm
Ahahaha
Now, that is just laughable.
Everything comes down to race these days doesn’t it? SMH lol
October 4th, 2013 at 12:17 am
PR
I think like you do. I really believe all this was done by Freeman’s agent. Once he got benched he wanted to get him out before the year ended. Watch how everything just quiets down from now on.
October 4th, 2013 at 12:30 am
Gotta love the Bucs cutting Freeman cos he had no trade value…. hours before two starting QBs go down with injuries…
October 4th, 2013 at 2:53 am
Warthog your right that is pretty nuts man.
And Jose, yea man glad we are on the same page, we’ll see soon.
October 4th, 2013 at 10:13 am
IMO I think Couzins would be a great pickup. A backup that should be starting.
October 4th, 2013 at 12:00 pm
some you fans are goobers!!
trade Vjack- really !!!!! did you see what happen when he played hurt last week no one else got open… love Mike williams but he is not a #1 you dont get rid of good talent to replace talent you add talent..
Trade a #1 for cousins.. he is proven and only has 1 yr in league, also better than whats coming out cause he is proven.. PLease no Murry FROM GEORGIA will be bust here..
3rd string I would take Vince young at least he would run and not wait..
October 4th, 2013 at 12:19 pm
I guess Hillis is secretly black. Also Trueblood.
And he really kicked that Eric LeGrand to the curb too. The racist accusations are just sad.
