Billboards Are News To Greg Schiano
October 25th, 2013The biggest news of the day, a day full of Bucs news, may have been the new billboards in Tampa and in St. Petersburg, specifically next to the Fruitdome on northbound I-275, that simply say “Fire Schiano.’
There will be 17 more.
A local radio station is using the cry screamed by Bucs fans for days if not weeks to help promote their radio station by tapping into the pulse of the Tampa Bay community that wants Schiano ousted yesterday, no matter the consequences.
Schiano was asked about the billboards in his postgame press conferene tonight and claimed he was not aware of them.
“I dont know,” Schiano said of the impact of the billboards on the team. “I think our players — they have all been involved in competitive athletics for a long time, so I don’t think that really concerns them. Quite frankly, I didn’t know there were [billboards], so that’s how dialed-in I am I guess.”
While the billboards may be news, Schiano is well aware of the heckling fans hurled at him at recent games, especially the cascade of boos and barbs and insults hurled at him as he left the field and entered the tunnel after the loss to the Stinking Panthers.
“It doesn’t affect me,” Schiano said. “People are certainly entitled to their opinion. Here is the thing: My whole career — player and coach — you get up in the morning, you work as hard and as smart as you can, it usually puts you to bed tired, and you get up and do it again. That’s teh way I do it. [We] do it the best we can — our coaches, our players — [and] stick together. Sometimes it doesn’t go your way. We’ve just got to keep doing it, look for new ways to make us better, and hopefully go get a win in Seattle. You can sit there and cry about it and feel sorry for yourself, but that isn’t going to help anything. You just get back to work, get on this tape, get better.”
So Bucs fans, Schiano may not see the billboards [yet], but he does here your cries. They make him more determined to turn the Bucs around.

Bronze tools are news to this sloping-foreheaded, ingnorant, stubborn, unevolved, vestigial-tailed, POS. Fire Schiano. That is all.

“Hear” your cries….

You spelled ‘ignorant’ wrong.

Here’s some sound advice Mr. Schiano: Don’t be so dialed in that you don’t know what’s going on around you. People have been saying for months that you are alienating players. People have been telling you to stop playing zone with the best press man corner in the NFL. People have been telling you that you have to treat the game with respect and not dive at people’s knees. People have been telling you that your offense and defense are too predictable. People have been telling you to stop doing stunts on the d-line. People have been telling you that this isn’t Rutgers. You need to start listening! But guess what, it’s too late. No matter what, you are done in Tampa. The people have spoken. Have a great trip back North. Don’t let the door hit you on the ass on the way out.

@Greg: Gosh, wow, the irony. I’m so humbled.

As long as they are still paying him. It’s making it tough to fire him for these cheap ass owners. THAT’S right Joe I said it. They HAD to spend the money the last 2 years so they did. So the they go cheap on the coach though? back to back coaches? STOP effing around Glazers. Get your head out of your english asses and stop watching soccer (football). Give a crap about this team again or sell it. Get us a coach Glazer brothers. Make it a damn good expensive one too. You owe us after this debacle. THAT’S right Joe I said it. OWE us fans. Pretty soon after Schiano’s gone and if they get another BS coach, the fans are going to start to turn on the Glazers if that coach loses too. I heard a few grumblings on Thursday night at the game about the Glazers too.

Schiano is well paid. Raheem was on the cheap, but the whole team was. If Schiano isn’t fired tomorrow, then this is a clear tank job by the entire organization. That is unacceptable in my opinion. I don’t want Bridgewater or anybody else that bad. I want to remember what it feels like to win and look like a professional football team.

Schiano wasn’t aware of the billboards? Ah well. Add it to the list of things he’s unaware of, under ‘how to win a pro football game’ and ‘how to adjust your scheme to fit your personnel’

Never understood the “we can’t fire him cause the players haven’t quit” mentality.
What difference does it make if your 0-7.
0-7 speaks for itself.

2011 Raheem Morris’s was the most embarrassing. This team hasn’t quit. They’re playing hurt, with rookies, and are still going at it 100%. As long as they do that, I’m far from “being embarrassed”. Been a fan of the team since ’81, and there have been some really embarrassing teams since then. This isn’t one of them.
The billboards are a ploy by a radio station – for publicity –

Win in Seattle? Did this clueless ass really say that? Ha! Schiano needs to go back to a small college program. FIRE SCHIANO!
October 25th, 2013 at 2:37 pm
Oh no. Keep the bastard
1) he deserves the humiliation of losing 16 games. That will teach his arrogant ass
2) we are now in the ranks of the “quarterback-less”
That is a long term reciepe for mediocrity!! Gotta get one. A great QB is mandatory to win in today’s NFL
Even the Great Warren Sapp said it last night- defenses do not win championships – Quarterbacks do
