Who Is Mike Glennon?
September 26th, 2013Since Mike Glennon news is all the rage with Bucs fans, Joe figured he would revisit Glennon’s episode with Chucky in Chucky’s annual BSPN series on draft-eligible quarterback boot camps.

Another stop-gap at QB, biding time until we draft our next “franchise” QB.
September 26th, 2013 at 1:57 pm
He I like the fact that he stands in there and takes the hit. That’s something a certain other qb was not willing or able to do.
September 26th, 2013 at 1:58 pm
As a Bucs fan first, since Glennon is the starter…I’m all in.
I have my opinions on players, the coaches, etc – but none of it matters. It’s Glennon’s time now – let’s see what you’ve got.
September 26th, 2013 at 1:58 pm
Not saying he’s a Franchise QB because we won’t know… Can’t Know until he Plays Real Games (no one knew Brady would be either… and No, Not saying he’s Brady) but I DO like how he’s not afraid to throw it in there & take a Hit. Dude has an Arm & is pretty Accurate. If we can get him some time in the Pocket, he might just exceed our Expectations. Extremely Hopeful. GO BUCS!!!

Andrew 1 Says
“He I like the fact that he stands in there and takes the hit. That’s something a certain other qb was not willing or able to do.”
If you mean Freeman you are making that up…or blind.
September 26th, 2013 at 2:00 pm
btw, I think trading Freeman would be a bad move. I mean we need the depth anyway and Dan-O is not good depth.
September 26th, 2013 at 2:03 pm
I hope I speak for all buc fans when I say I hope Glennon is as or better than advertised. Hopefully this is the beginning of a solid plan. Go get em Glennon.
September 26th, 2013 at 2:06 pm
@ bonzai
Or just completely right
September 26th, 2013 at 2:11 pm
Did you see him check off a receiver and go to his 2nd option? What a strange concept around here.
Walter-are you going to cry like this all year?
We know,you don’t like Glennon.
September 26th, 2013 at 2:12 pm
You should probably understand that if Jon Gruden is being nice to you, you probably NOT be in the room with Jon Gruden – if he isn’t criticizing you, it means he doesn’t have the heart to knock you.
To play the pure pocket passer behind this line – he should have been drinking milkshakes and eating steaks every day since he got to Tampa Bay – and right about now – they should be handing him tapes of Brad “the bull” Johnson’s Super Bowl season.
They’re going to snap this kid in HALF before seasons end – this guy just ain’t ready on SO many levels…
For all the praise of his top 5 throws…I wonder why he was so i-n-c-o-n-s-i-s-t-e-n-t in his ONLY starting season at NC State?
September 26th, 2013 at 2:16 pm
Like I said, he will stand in there take the hit and still complete an accurate pass. That is the biggest difference I see between him and freeman. 1 thing that did concern me watching him in college was that when the game was on the line for whatever reason he did not come through. I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt first though.
September 26th, 2013 at 2:20 pm

“1 thing that did concern me watching him in college was that when the game was on the line for whatever reason he did not come through. I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt first though”

I don’t think he had Doug Martin, V-Jax and Mike W in college.
September 26th, 2013 at 2:21 pm
What I got from tape is what Joe highlighted yesterday: accuracy.
Just the thought of having a big arm, accurate passer makes me ready for the Mike Glennon era. Bring it on, lumps and all. All rookies get them.
September 26th, 2013 at 2:24 pm
@ Bobby
Your exactly right, that’s why I’m not going told it against him to much. He was surrounded by sub par talent at nc state. Still you can’t help but notice it
September 26th, 2013 at 2:25 pm
Glennon’s has fast feet in the pocket. He sets his feet really fast when changing targets. Freeman tree trunks for legs. That’s I think why he would have accuracy problems
September 26th, 2013 at 2:25 pm
Not going to hold it against him
Damn iPhone
September 26th, 2013 at 2:30 pm
Another story on Glennon back in May. It’s goes pretty in depth about Glennon. It’s a very good read if anyone wants to learn more about him. I won’t link it, because I don’t want Joe to get upset with me. Just google the words Glennon is Matt Ryan. It’s at the top of the search page. I read it last night.
September 26th, 2013 at 2:35 pm
If nothing else, if this qb thing doesn’t work out…there’s always The Jeff Garcia School of Modeling to fall back on.
September 26th, 2013 at 2:38 pm
Do you think Gruden might be laughing now after being paid in full by The Bucs to do shows like this? I know I’d be enjoying the shat-show if I were him. Kinda miss him now like the Bear Fans miss Ditka….
September 26th, 2013 at 2:42 pm
Glennons strengths are Freeman’s weakneses and vice versa. The O-line has struggled in pass protection at times this season. They’ll have to step up their game to give Glennon time. He won’t be creating plays with his legs.
September 26th, 2013 at 2:42 pm
I just hope he get the continuity and structure to support his potential. The Bucs owe it to him.
September 26th, 2013 at 2:46 pm
Now we get a chance to watch some football instead of dodgeball…
September 26th, 2013 at 2:48 pm
Gruden the Great!
BRING CHUCKY BACK HOME!
September 26th, 2013 at 2:55 pm
For the 1st time in years I find myself looking forward to and even excited to watch a Bucs game… Such a wonderful, renewed feeling!
September 26th, 2013 at 2:56 pm
Honestly,
I don’t know how well he’ll do. Obviously, I’m rooting for him as I’m a Bucs fan. And, I was just ready to move forward after such a long winding roller coaster ride.
BUT, now that I see so many people openly saying he’ll bomb, and that we will be drafting someone else, after I watched them support Freeman for year after year. And they won’t give this guy ONE SINGLE GAME? Now, I’m really rooting for him. One, because it means TB is winning, and TWO, because I want those hypocrite fans to eat massive crow.
September 26th, 2013 at 3:03 pm
No idea what he will become, BUT he has one thing Freeman NEVER had and never has developed: Accuracy.
September 26th, 2013 at 3:05 pm
Gotta love the FFCA emblem.
Schiano might wanna pick one up – that is inevitable.
September 26th, 2013 at 3:12 pm
Why cant a team have two HCs…. Just like the Chinese Triads do well with multiple bosses.
Id love to see a Gruden/Schiano combo!
Oh wait… we already have a Schiano/Davis HC combo.
September 26th, 2013 at 3:12 pm
*Gruden/DUNGY combo!
September 26th, 2013 at 3:22 pm
Oil Derrick Brooks,
I do find it troubling how some fans have such a double standard such as this…. For years saying give JF 1 more chance, 1 more game, 1 more season as he just KEPT disappointing and NOW they can’t
FAN-UP and give MG 1 game….
JF IS DONE! ~ Old news
MG is the Bucs QB now and the Bucs fans will give him his chance!
September 26th, 2013 at 3:30 pm
For the people that think Schiano is on the hot seat…think about it like the Glazers.
“Greg, the culture here is a mess. You have to fix it.”
mission accomplished
“Greg. the defense is a joke. We need to get back to our old defensive standards.”
Check!
“Greg, we need some offensive production to go with our defense. We have seen enough of Josh Freeman to know that we won’t be renewing his contract. It’s OK for a QB change and let’s see what we have in Mike Glennon”
In the process of being implemented.
September 26th, 2013 at 3:42 pm
“Throw the receiver open” is something I was glad to hear him say. If you look up highlights of this guy (for those of you who didn’t see him play for the two years he started at NCSt) you’ll notice that he does exactly that. He was coached by the same coach as Matt Ryan and Russell Wilson, and I like that his first thought is an accurate, catchable pass. I’m sure the receivers here will be happy that he isn’t just throwing it anywhere within an 8-foot box around the receivers and hoping for an amazing catch.

gotta say, the current culture at OBP is drama central. the place is a whirlwind! we’re a constant punchline in the local and national media.
the defense cost us week 1, (LVD), the defense couldnt close with the lead with 1 minute left, and then against NE, the DB field couldnt stop no name rookie recievers.
September 26th, 2013 at 3:58 pm
Wrong Freeman cost us week 1.. and week 2…. and week 3.
You can try to repeat yourself as many times as you like and its never going to sound any less stupid.
It is funny though. At least your humorous.
September 26th, 2013 at 4:06 pm
Honestly… Do we REALLY Know what’s going on within the walls of OBP? I mean, with Today’s Media & how Patience is No Longer Practiced with the Fan Base any longer, it makes You Wonder if “The Internal Drama” really exists or just some Major Speculation on the part of the Media just because they’re not getting much details from “Coach”.
If you listen to the 2 Major Radio Stations that cover the Team… It seems to me that One Station covers One Angle of all the Alleged Controversy & the Other Station covers the Other Angle hoping to cash in on the Crowd that will respond to Their Angle of the Story.
The Bottom Line is, Greg Schiano is the HC & He has been Tasked for putting the Best 45 or so Players on the Field Regardless of what We or the Media Thinks. I may not Agree with Everything He has Done but I am a Bucs Fan & I will Cheer on My Team regardless.
So come on Bucs Fans, Let’s Give Glennon a chance! Go Bucs!!!
September 26th, 2013 at 4:11 pm
rational fans know what really happened…
September 26th, 2013 at 4:24 pm
28 pts in 3 games means your offense lost all three. I don’t care what your defense did on one play to end the game. If your offense can’t score 10 pts, they lost you that game.
September 26th, 2013 at 4:26 pm
Will the real bucks fans please stand up . the real fans will allow the players to be players and stop thinking you know every f$&%king thing . they are where they are because they might be just all a little good . (JUST A LITTLE) . SO STOP BEING HATERS and stand by your team . nobody wants to see losers but if you can change it put in the in the required work . until then shut your f#$%in& mouth and support your team . GO BUCS GO BUCS.
September 26th, 2013 at 4:33 pm
the problem 1neb, is that we have “fans” who hate on other fans that stood behind their last starter, and after that starter was replaced, these “fans” continue to stir up beef with those other fans who now support the new starter… kind of petty isnt it??
September 26th, 2013 at 4:36 pm
Hey Furniture Man, just listen to GMCs take right now on 620. then get back to me with your intelligent ass.
September 26th, 2013 at 5:08 pm
remember Bruce Gradkowski? yea, Glennon kinda reminds me of him.

http://espn.go.com/blog/tampa-bay-buccaneers/post/_/id/674/jon-grudens-scouting-report-on-mike-glennon
From Gruden as well about Glennon, talking about the throws Glennon can make too, but a little more specific to that.
September 26th, 2013 at 5:32 pm
The sole reason for our losses is now sitting on his rightful throne on Sundays. He’ll learn a thing or two from Glennon.
September 26th, 2013 at 5:37 pm
Furniture Fan, even GMC admitted that his defense should have closed those games! Should I take a couch potatoes assessment? or should I take the word of a man that was on the front lines of those battles????
September 26th, 2013 at 5:38 pm
you are one bitter, grudge-holding petty little, little man. smh
September 26th, 2013 at 5:41 pm
Mak
you are one of the dumbest posters here. I like you!
Nobody said anything about the defense not having problems. That is your stupidity that is talking.
What I said was The loss is not there fault. It’s Freeman’s and the offense for lack of… well… anything?
It’s ok I expect you to disagree with me because it would ruin your fantasy that Freeman is some good QB. Sorry the truth hurts. But he sucks.
September 26th, 2013 at 5:44 pm
keep trying couch…
September 26th, 2013 at 5:46 pm
Simple Fact,
If the offense had scored on the NUMEROUS occassions the defense did its job and handed the ball back to the offense throughout the entirety of those two games those 2 last drives would have not even mattered.
That’s the TRUTH
McCoy is a professional and professionals always look at them self first and will not cast blame on others.
September 26th, 2013 at 5:50 pm
^^Exactly PR.
September 26th, 2013 at 5:52 pm
Offense scores 3 points and he is sitting here blaming the defense. Absolutely pitiful.
September 26th, 2013 at 7:19 pm
At the end of the day I don’t care who’s our qb but if they say Mike Glenn is our qb or one of you I riding.so there is always room when its bad but we will also save room for you haters when we kick some A%% starting this week …GO BUCS GO BUCS . just remember , there areca lot of great qb’s that don’t go in the first round . so stop worrying about the small things that can be fixed and just worry does he have the thing to fix them . ( HEART , DETERMINATION, DRIVE ) that’s how you measure a player …GO BUCS . SEE YOU GUYS SUNDAY
September 26th, 2013 at 8:09 pm
Couch and PR, you types are whats holding civilization back. Just your elementary school mentality. And there are plenty of intellectual and rational thinking readers who most likely shake their heads when they come across your posts. You guys are like the ‘deliverance duo’. Couch tries to make dudes squeal like a pig, while PR stands there chuckling. You guys were made for each other.
September 26th, 2013 at 8:20 pm
Lol done whining? That the best you’ve got?
My only questioning is where’d you come from?
Or better yet what was your old username cause prior to last weeks game I’ve never even seen of your whiny ass on these threads.
Ahahahaha Cyber tough guys are so funny.
September 26th, 2013 at 8:24 pm
Told you once, I’ll tell you twice.
I could give two shits about anything your slimey fingers has to type, that’s the last time I’m going to waste any energy on you.
Lol the CyberToughGuy who has the “inside scoop” with the Glazers.
LOVE IT

September 26th, 2013 at 8:32 pm
Need a tissue?
September 26th, 2013 at 8:32 pm
Does anyone think we can win this week ??? I do and the score is 35 – 13 . what do you think ( anyone )
September 26th, 2013 at 8:37 pm
Good luck Mike!!!!! I will be cheering for you. I know there will be picks, sacks, fumbles, mistakes, etc., and you will learn from those. As a Bucs fan I am not expecting perfection, you are a rookie and we will see rookie play, just as we have seen from your fellow rookies (i.e. Banks).
The opposing defenses will be messing with your inexperience, but if you can hang in there with your big arm, intelligence, willingness to take a hit and stand tall in the pocket, you will be fine and can perhaps take advantage of the opposing teams attempt to mess with you.
Your all we have right now Mike, your our towns hope for something new, exciting, entertaining.
I support you Mike, go out there and help us get this first win of the season. GO GET EM MIKE!!!!!!!!!!
September 26th, 2013 at 8:38 pm
Right on Pewter Power
September 26th, 2013 at 8:43 pm
A quick look at his highlight reel (I think it’s the first result under a google search for “Mike Glennon Highlights”) reveals clip after clip of a guy standing in a massive pocket for long enough that almost every other throw has the announcers saying “Glennon’s got plenty of time”
The NFL doesn’t have the degree of disparity in competition that the college game does.
The fact that Freeman remains the number 2 is mind bending.
I predict Glennon’s Napoleon Dynamite physique takes an injury, and Freeman finishes the season looking like “good Josh”, then refusing Dominik’s sheepish offers to re-sign with the Bucs when the season is done.
I also hope I’m wrong.
September 26th, 2013 at 10:03 pm
sad that he has to come into this mess. the guy got his masters degree in 4 years he is smart works hard and has an above average arm. i havent seen enough to see how he processes the pro game. i guess we will all see it together. still say bus will never be above 500 with current gm.
