Trading Josh Freeman?
September 18th, 2013In this CBS Sports video, popular sports TV and radio personality Adam Schein, along with Shannon Sharpe, Bart Scott, former Raiders executive Amy Trask and CBS Sports Radio host Brandon Tierney, discuss the rumor that Bucs franchise quarterback Josh Freeman wanted a trade. Sharpe claims Freeman has to look no further than his mirror for the source of his problems.
September 18th, 2013 at 11:37 am
Sell stock when its high….or in this case, be “that guy” on the streets selling that green gold, heh.
Get what you can DOM!!! Goodness man….its not too hard to figure out!!!
September 18th, 2013 at 11:38 am
Nobody is trading for a guy in his contract year, or if someone actually wants to trade for him the Bucs will have to have accept conditional picks or low picks. His trade value is exceptionally low.
September 18th, 2013 at 11:42 am
Even though IMHO- I think this is total BS. I would really like to thank CBS and all the other networks for all the media coverage. Just watch the praise we get once we start winning.
GO BUCS!!
September 18th, 2013 at 11:45 am
There will be no praise when we win. That’s if were ever allowed to win.
September 18th, 2013 at 11:49 am
@LUVMYBUCS
THE BUCS?? Praised by the media???
Bwahahahaha!
September 18th, 2013 at 11:49 am
Did Freeman not say in a press conference that he is NOT seeking a trade? Where is this crap coming from???? If he IS seeking a trade then get it out in the open and trade his ass. Get a pass rusher in here or a TE and let’s move on. If he is NOT seeking a trade then Dom need to get this crap cleared up because the media is getting out of hand.
September 18th, 2013 at 11:50 am
Just trade him. What a distraction to the team.
September 18th, 2013 at 11:53 am
Remember this-One of the most formidable Branding Strategies is Controversy. If you take controversial angle to solidify your target market position..YOU WILL SELL
Note:I just can’t wait to see which on the player pull a Antonio Pierce(Blown horn);with one of media types..lol
September 18th, 2013 at 11:55 am
@Bobby, I hope you realize that you’re speaking about “Professional Liars” who sell positions in the game…..come on man (a sad chuckle).
September 18th, 2013 at 11:58 am
Joe,
What trade options, if any, do the Bucs have with Freeman at the end of the season?
September 18th, 2013 at 11:59 am
Joe, in one article you talk about the cabal who are out there trying to dismantle the Bucs through unfounded rumors, then you post ANOTHER article dredging up one that has been denied multiple times by Freeman and would seem to be dead. Can’t wait for the next one where Revis is ready to leave Tampa due to Schiano. You sure you’re not part of that “cabal”?
September 18th, 2013 at 11:59 am
The last thing I believe is what a coach, GM, or player says. We all know the truth comes out afterwards.
A la Nick Saban has no interest in coaching Alabama.
If Freeman wants to be traded, the last place you should look for the truth is out of his mouth. Sorry, it just does not work that way. Blame the agents!
September 18th, 2013 at 12:00 pm
Why hasn’t this matter been put to bed? Josh said he had no knowledge of the trade rumor, and he was NOT seeking a trade? Now, unless the dude is a flat out LIAR, why are we still entertaining this topic?
September 18th, 2013 at 12:00 pm
Tampabaybucfan:
None. Once the season is over with, Freeman is a free agent, but can be franchised, which at this point would be a colossal waste of cash.
September 18th, 2013 at 12:00 pm
Lol !!! So far I have heard he is :
[Stop with the personal rumors! — Joe]
Wants to be traded
Doesn’t like Schiano
Doesn’t care
Can’t play defense too
Can’t call the right play …. Hilarious stuff , who ever is making it up .
September 18th, 2013 at 12:02 pm
FlBoy:
Joe is not part of any cabal, outside of the beer drinkers of America and fans of Rachel Watson.
September 18th, 2013 at 12:02 pm
This is from a Shelton column after the 2009 draft.
“That’s the next question, though. Is Freeman a franchise quarterback? Dominik defines a franchise quarterback as a guy who is going to get a team into the playoffs, a guy who is going to be here longer than one contract, a guy who can give a team a chance to win every Sunday.”
You have to laugh to keep from crying.
September 18th, 2013 at 12:02 pm
Colossal waste of cash huh???
That’s funny joe
September 18th, 2013 at 12:02 pm
Lol Freeman says he doesn’t want to be traded and their STILL trying to sell this??
Oh, Adam Schein, why don’t you make a nice report about how great your boy Christian Ponder looks this year? He’s so good, Matt Cassel might have to step in so the boy can cool down, he’s just been burning up the league man.
September 18th, 2013 at 12:03 pm
@Luv, first off, you’re talking about “branding”? Huh?…..wrong place man, come on…
But, if you meant to apply that in this context, the controversial angle (at this point) would be starting Glennon….against all odds….the last resort (hey, those were songs too)
September 18th, 2013 at 12:04 pm
The Hate and stupidity here has reached epidemic levels..
September 18th, 2013 at 12:07 pm
The fact you guy believe when a player says something says volumes.
Let’s just say, and bear with here, let’s pretend Freeman wants to be traded. Be honest with us, and be honest with yourself. Do you seriously think he would admit it to the media?
If so, I have some great bridge property for you. Buy now!
September 18th, 2013 at 12:07 pm
Colossal waste of cash huh???
That’s funny joe
————————————–
Only a buffoon like you would want to pay Freeman $20 million for a franchise tag.
September 18th, 2013 at 12:11 pm
stupidity here has reached epidemic levels..

Yes, true, Raphael – yours is unmatched!
September 18th, 2013 at 12:11 pm
I like Bart Scott’s take, trade him to the Jags for Babin.
Win win.
September 18th, 2013 at 12:13 pm
Raphael,
Hat’s off to your unwavering efforts, but Josh Freeman stinks out LOUD.
September 18th, 2013 at 12:14 pm
@Raphael……Holy jit, your brain finally exploded with epiphany after reading and REALIZING your own posts…..AMAzing
September 18th, 2013 at 12:15 pm
Joe , no 2nd amendment rights here huh?
I was repeating what people here have said or alluded to.
And btw Joe , why don’t you get on one side of the fence or the other concerning freeman .
September 18th, 2013 at 12:19 pm
^LOL @ the fact hater^^^
September 18th, 2013 at 12:20 pm
*1st amendment *
September 18th, 2013 at 12:20 pm
I say why trade him. There are those ignorant people out there that say no one would be interested in a trade for Freeman. So, I say why bother, just drop him and watch how fast he gets scooped up. Maybe even Jacksonville since they are 0-2 in a weakened division with the leaders tied at 1-1 could use Freeman. He could possibly be there resurrection and get the Jags to the playoffs this year. At least he can get the He|| out of Tampa Bay.
September 18th, 2013 at 12:22 pm
How are we in need of a pass rusher and we lead the league in sacks smh the media is really destroyin our team
September 18th, 2013 at 12:22 pm
A coahes job is to get the most out of his players. Especially is the player has the raw talent he needs. Then a good coach always finds a way to bring it out of him.
So, if Schiano and Freeman find a way to win, and bury the patsys this weekend, it will shut the media up and might be the start of a turnaround for our team.
September 18th, 2013 at 12:22 pm
Good idea, just drop the bum and move on. We already know he aint the future here.
September 18th, 2013 at 12:29 pm
Whatever GM franchises Josh Freeman deserves to be fired on the spot. Newsflash to Raphael and all the other Freeman fans: No one is signing him to be their starter next year. Unless he has marked improvement the rest of the season, he has a 0% chance of starting anywhere next season. This QB draft class is loaded, and everyone of them will cost less than Josh with more potential than Josh.
September 18th, 2013 at 12:29 pm

Second amendment? Though Joe does not own a firearm, he is pro-gun. Proudly so.
And no, you cannot put out undocumented, unfounded rumors of a local celebrity’s personal life on this site because at the end of the day, it is Joe who will be sued and lose his business for that kind of crap.
September 18th, 2013 at 12:30 pm

And their is no freedom of speech here …

Why wouldn’t you want Freeman to be successful somewhere else. You not only want him off our team, you want him out of the league? Besides your hatred towards him as our QB, why have you made it so personal? Did he take advantage of your mama or something?
September 18th, 2013 at 12:40 pm
Raphael…I’m only go to say this to you once and I hope you understand this. I do not hate Freeman yet. Right now he is the starting QB of the team I love. So I have to pull for him to help this team win. The banner I made for Josh during preseason was for Josh and my team. I made the banner to show Josh that there are many fans out there that still support him. I did it for the benefit of my team, because what good does it for my team to have a QB thinking a lot of the fan base hates him? I am just a fan, but I will do what ever I can to help my team win. Which by the way is very little. I stood by the escalators for an hour on Sunday trying to fire up the fan base before they went to there seats. I held up a sign that said, The Bucs Need YOU. While my wife had a sign that said Be Loud Today. It is about all I can do. I also could have been sitting out in the parking lot drinking beer and tailgating instead. I chose to do something for my team. Anything I could do to help. So like I said last night if Freeman catches fire of course I will be happy. If that does happen, then that means our team will be rolling. I’m not typing another negative word on here about my teams starting QB again. All I can do is hope that he catches fire. I think everyone is hoping for it, despite the bashing. Have a nice day! 😀
September 18th, 2013 at 12:42 pm
Rbell. … Lol. .. It’s crazy isn’t it ? I have lived here whole life and have never seen so much dislike towards 1 player
September 18th, 2013 at 12:43 pm
@Raphael
Dude, stop crying. Who honestly cares what Joe, Florio, BSPN, NFL.Network, CBS, etc. have to say about a “potential Freeman trade,” or “players turning on Schiano,” or “Revis not being happy with the defensive scheme,” because when all is said and done, it doesn’t change anything. They are paid to report, some of them do more speculating than reporting, but they all want the same thing: traffic. It’s all about traffic. Also, you’re free to type whatever you want, just like people on this site are free to disagree with you. Suck it up or stop posting. Period.
September 18th, 2013 at 12:44 pm
Ummm, what? Why do I care about the success of players who play for teams besides the Bucs? What, I want Freeman to leave and win 10 straight Super Bowls somewhere else? And where do I say I want him out of the league? I say no one will sign him to be their starter. I see him as a backup in either Oakland (with Greg Olson again) or Chicago (Marc Trestmen is good at developping QBs). And I’ve made it personal? No, producing a worse completion % than Tim Tebow makes it personal. All I ever use against Josh are stats and facts. I never make it personal.
You Freeman defenders are something else. I can already tell you can’t wait to actively root against the next QB and long for the Josh days of 0 playoff appearances and one great season many years ago.
September 18th, 2013 at 12:46 pm
1987 … I appreciate that .. All I am gonna say is all 11 players and coach need to be clicking ..not just the QB, whoever the QB is .
September 18th, 2013 at 12:47 pm

Yeah elite QBs are just falling off trees just like the faeries and unicorns are dancing in your empty head.
September 18th, 2013 at 12:48 pm
Simmer down. Schino and Freeman can coexist. If we come together and go all waterboy on the patsys then this will be a huuuuuge boost and a turn around for our team!
and reports are that were getting our te crabtreeback. (hopefully nicks too)
September 18th, 2013 at 12:54 pm
Walter gets it.
September 18th, 2013 at 12:56 pm
RBellBuc
Josh Freeman… is elite? His last 5 games? 4 TDs, 15 turnovers for a sparkling 0.8:3 TD to TO ratio. I suppose that makes Chrisitan Ponder (6TD, 5TOs last 5) and Jake Locker (2TDs, 3TOs last 5) elite as well….
Wow, so like every team in the NFL has elite QBs. Who knew?
To RBell and the rest, please list the teams who will sign Freeman this offseason to be their starter. Should be fun to see what you all come up with.
September 18th, 2013 at 12:56 pm
Walter sounds as if he’s given up the fight?
September 18th, 2013 at 12:59 pm
Well it will be teams that don’t have at least the #1 through probably #10 in next years draft. Teams like San Diego, Tennessee, Vikings, Cardinals,
September 18th, 2013 at 12:59 pm
@RBellBuc
What fight???
September 18th, 2013 at 1:02 pm
He will have to compete in camp for a spot, but that shouldn’t be a problem for him to win a spot either as a starter or backup, and then eventually takeover a starting spot.
September 18th, 2013 at 1:03 pm
Walter
exactly
September 18th, 2013 at 1:06 pm
Walter.. I’m a HUGE FSU fan I never thought Ponder was NFL material.
September 18th, 2013 at 1:07 pm
San Diego’s getting rid of Philip Rivers? Why don’t we trade Josh to them? If we had Philip Rivers we’d be set right now.
Also we took Josh 17th overall. EJ Manuel went 16th and is starting right away. Teams who need a QB will draft them, not sign Josh. Whats the difference between gambling on Josh Freeman’s potential (which is what anyone would be doing, not his results) and a rookies potential? Oh yeah, drafting rookies is much cheaper than signing FAs. The Titans are a maybe, but Josh isn’t that much better than Jake Locker (if at all). Vikings is the same (Ponder made the playoffs after all), and the Cardinals just got Carson Palmer, so odds are very high they draft a long-term successor, not sign Josh and certainly not to start.
Face it, Josh Freeman now has exactly 1 out of 4 full seasons that you can call great. The rest is mediocre, and no one is paying $10+million a season for that. They can draft a rookie for half the cost.
September 18th, 2013 at 1:08 pm
@Raphael,
Don’t worry. Theres plenty of intelligent fans, they just have better things to do then comment on JBF all day. (not like us)
But the media might be trying to divide and conqer us for good drama TV. or there may may be teams and owners trying to divide and conqer us because theyre afraid.
I believe we can turn the season around with a w in new england! Untied we stand!

SCHIANO SHINNANIGANS GONE BAD!
The Inexperienced NFL HEAD COACH Horribly misplayed his hand by OPENING. HIS PIE HOLE BELIEVING HE HAD CONTROL OVER THE MEDIA
Wrong Gregory! Now what we have now is a DAY-2- DAY Team Distraction.
C’mon, since when has any player said anything other than the “PLAYERS CREED” that is burned into the rhetoric of even the worst articulate Player.
{{ ””I am Happy to be a (ENTER TEAM NAME HERE) and I just wanna contribute to the Success of the (ENTER TEAM NAME AGAIN) “”}}
Have you Bone Heads ever heard anything else???? What we do know os Freeman Used to be spotted on the bench very animated and involved in discussions with coaches and teammates……Josh Now Leaves the Field and Sits by himself aways from coaches & Players. HE IS AN OUTCAST or a Self Declared Outcast, but he Definitely is NOT ALL IN AS A BUCCANEER ANYMORE.
Tight Jawed Buzz Cut Dictators Never blend well with Eclectic Introverted QBs No Matter How Talented They are……I recall Eli Manning having serious issues with Once Upon A Time Dictator Tom Coughlin. I remember a Non-Existant Riff between Coach, QB, and Players in General of a Talented Team in Gotham City resolved by THE COACH Dropping the Hardcore Routine.

A sports fan website with 2nd ammendment rights? Million dollar idea. Bucs, Bullets, Babes!
September 18th, 2013 at 1:13 pm

Where did you see that??? That’s be awesome if we could scoop up Rivers, reunite him with V-Jax. We’d be deadly.
September 18th, 2013 at 1:15 pm
Back to the 2nd ammendmnt thing Joe. You can have a “gun of the week” segment, and a “guns of the week” segment for the best rack.
September 18th, 2013 at 1:17 pm
uhhhh, Philip Rivers just crushed the eagles. He’s doing just fine in san diego.

Face it, you think somehow you’re smarter than everyone in the front office.
You state things as if they are absolute. You are a narcissist and a terrible person that thinks they can dictate the future somehow. The only thing that I can surmise about your vindictive campaign is that you have made it personal against Freeman. Almost as if you’re saying “If we can no-longer have him them no-one else can either. Josh is not the evil person you make him out to be. He will land on his feet again in spite of your self-proclaimed genius.
September 18th, 2013 at 1:18 pm
This is a Super Bowl team with Phillip Rivers back there. He would change this team from night to day.
Some of you Freeman supporters get on the horn!! It’s a win-win. Apparently in your orbit, TB would be playing vs Free and San Diego in the SB.
Make it happen!! **trying not to crack up**
September 18th, 2013 at 1:19 pm
Truebuc … Thank god you show up …. It was like something out of the twilight zone and somebody through me on the short bus when I wasn’t looking … Humanity has a chance … Whew !

September 18th, 2013 at 1:20 pm
I have nothing on Rivers being available, just RBellBuc suggesting San Diego will sign Freeman to be their starter next year. Which is insane of course, but he said it not me. If they did decided to cut Rivers we should offer him whatever he wants to get him here.
September 18th, 2013 at 1:22 pm
Freeman and a 2nd rd pick for Rivers? Lol

I want what this guy is on. I haven’t made it personal about Josh once. I’ve made it consistently about his poor performances on the field. He can go play QB for any team he likes, I don’t care. Best of luck. But I look at the market and the draft and just do not see who’s making Josh their starter next year. He has elite offense talent and appears to be regressing. Not sure many teams are gonna look at that and decide to hand them their starters job.
September 18th, 2013 at 1:27 pm
Rbell …. He doesn’t just spew his hate here … He does it on pft as well
The guy is dark, twisted and pathetic
September 18th, 2013 at 1:29 pm
I think Rbell has been sniffing too many of those Montana cow patties. Who the hell has ever said anything about JFro being “evil”? Big difference in being a bad QB and evil.
September 18th, 2013 at 1:29 pm
@bucrightoff
And, if you do struggle on the field, you better be without a doubt, the most dedicated member of the team off the field (aren’t franchise QBs that way anyway?) So, you miss photos, are late for meetings, don’t show up for your own youth camp???
Just what is he bringing to the table again? Not reliable on or off the field.
And again, this is after a $26,000,000.00 investment, besides all the offen$ive weapons and $$ lineman.
Give me a break.
September 18th, 2013 at 1:31 pm
Once again Raphael, where is the Josh Freeman “Thriller” pictorial in your house? We all wanna know dude. Well not really, but we all know its there.
September 18th, 2013 at 1:35 pm
Why is Jacksonville always the Default location for a Trade? Freeman is not a good fit there and not a place where High $$ FA Contracts get signed (See Stud MJD’s Contract woes)
So who would want a 25yr old QB w/4 yrs Experience in the NFL as a Starter who BTW Has a habit of throwing 25+ TDs in a season and has a Cannon Arm an can “Make All the Throws” OHHHH…Once Led NFL in QB rushing (Duh, the guy is mobile when he wants to be)
Lets See here: Is there a Team out there READY TO CHALLENGE for a SUPERBOWL that maybe being held back by lack of QB Talent?
YES – The Minnesota Vikings, Leslie Frasier
They’ll take his 4,000 yrds Passing and 27 TDs to go along with Greg Jennings and Rookie Cordarrell Patterson. Forcing passes won’t be required w/Adrian Peterson standing behind him. {Muscle Hamster is NO PETERSON}
September 18th, 2013 at 1:39 pm
There is a report that Freeman wants to play for the Tampa Bay Storm.
Now that report comes from ME. And my source is just the fact that I’m snorting crank off a hunting knife, but there IS a source……..
September 18th, 2013 at 1:44 pm
Damn this team has caused soooo many fans to stress out.
September 18th, 2013 at 1:47 pm
Umm, Rahb, Freeman has never led the NFL in rushing. You might mean he had a career high in rushing in 2010 (maybe?), but uhh yeah, Mike Vick had 300 more yards rushing than Freeman that season. So no, he did not.
September 18th, 2013 at 1:52 pm
Just take things in stride and when you think bad things about the Bucs throw on a little Bob Marley-three little birds. Here I’ll link it for you so you can put it in your favorites to play it in the background while you blog. Put it on every morning when you wake up. It’s quite soothing.

Oh my god. Im no Freeman supporter (Im a team supporter, whoever starts, i support). But understand that Rivers isnt going anywhere!
Again! River tore it up against the eagles. he got a new HC and OC who are turning that offense around, and they put out the most offensive yards since 1985. He’s happy there!
He’s not getting traded! SMH!
September 18th, 2013 at 2:11 pm
When we get Crabtree back (if we use him) and somehow take advantage of the middle of the field with someone beside VJAX, we will be able to spread the field. We will be fine. The D is able to cheat right now. Something has to be done to spread it out. GO BUCS !!!!!!!
September 18th, 2013 at 2:15 pm
hey Joe, you should have a popup window, where when you click the “view comments” link, the pop says, “you sure?”
September 18th, 2013 at 2:21 pm
Exactly bucslegend. Lorig came back, got our runn game back on track. Crabtree coming back gives Josh his much needed safety outlet. And Wiliams and VJ wont be blanketed as much as they were last week. Then even Ogletree’s numbers might rise.
Have faith bucs fans! The return of crabtree will be the turnaround in joshs performance. Like lorig was with martin. And no one ripped on martin when he stunk it up in week one.
Lets turn this season around! United we stand!

well I was quoting Bucs1987, so you gotta give him credit for bringin it up.
But Mr Marley was a genius. Every song was a hit, from “one cup of coffe” to “redemtion song”. The man was always positive, (unlike a lot of these fans). Marley was a lyrical prophet.
United we Stand Bucs Fans! Dont let those TMZ analysts pit us against each other! GO BUCS!

I was ready to rip Rahb for his asinine jfro rhetoric. But then I clicked your link and now I don’t worry… About a thing.
September 18th, 2013 at 8:51 pm
2 reasons a team would trade a draft pick for Freeman rather than wait for free agency.
1: you won’t have to compete with other teams to sign him and you can renegotiate his contract this year when value is lower.
2: there is a chance to make the playoffs this year and Freeman is better than the QB you have.
Do the Titans think Freeman is better than Locker? Could he give them a chance? The Vikings and Ponder? Browns and Wheeden? Jags and Gabbert? Cardinals and Palmer? If any of them believe they have a shot and it would improve with Freeman, it makes sense to make the trade for them. Question then becomes do the Bucs think their chances improve without Freeman? If not, they’ll be giving up on the season very early.

One advantage of trading with Jags is that they will have a very high draft pick although their GM would be ridiculed if he gave the Bucs a #1 for a 50% passer. I would definitely trade Freeman for Palmer and a couple of picks. Carson still can deliver the ball on time in stride to his wrs, something Josh seems to struggle to do. Sometimes Josh makes ridiculously difficult throws like the one to VJ vs the Panthers last year and the one to Mike Williams vs the Jets but then he can’t throw a little flare to a back or overthrows guys 10 yards over their heads. I believe the Bucs need a QB that isn’t so up and down, lately he’s been more down than up.

Since when did some fat pimply fantasy writer stating an opinion that Freeman “LIKELY WILL ask for a trade” mean that he already did? Journalists are so irresponsible that they take their readers for idiots. Trying to drum up some hits..Jason La Crapola is the source of this and never stated that Freeman asked for a trade.
