“Tough, Reliable & Durable”
September 14th, 2013Matt Millen had a lousy record leading the Lions’ front office, but he was one hell of a linebacker in his day, two All-Pro honors and four Super Bowl rings. So Joe thoroughly respects Millen’s assessment of linebacker play.
In this NFL Network video, Millen shines a positive spotlight on Bucs middle linebacker Mason Foster in a film breakdown. It’s some nice national love for Foster, who’s still just 24 years old.
Millen likes Foster’s patience, and calls him tough, reliable and durable.
Foster had two sacks and a forced fumble against the Jets. He got off to a great start last season, as well, and Greg Schiano raved about Foster’s progress this offseason. A consistent season — Foster tailed off in the second half last year — could very well have Foster eating pineapple in February. He has that kind of ability.

I remember you calling this one lat season Joe, good to see with Mason progressing and developing into a solid player.
Now, can we get this team to be eating playoffs this year?
QB controversy! Loud noises!

Funny thing is, and I wrote about it this morning on my site….the Bucs are ALWAYS predicted to lose big to the Saints since the Drew Brees era. But in truth, Tampa Bay is 3-4 at home against the Saints, and also 3-4 on the road vs Brees and Co. You can read the history on the last 6 years if interested.

Quincy Black was the hero, the last time we beat the Saints.
I remeber the week 17 game @ Saints in 2010. LGB broke Malcolm Jenkin’s collarbone, and the very next week Marshawn Lynch made his famous run and announced the arrival of the Seahawks.

Really good to see Foster continue to improve. Pretty sure our new look secondary will continue to allow him to play to his strengths.

Tough, reliable, durable, and not very good in space covering the pass.

I don’t think I could work with my tool belt on backwards like that.

Foster is great against the run but a total liability dropping in coverage. Too stiff in the hips and always seems to a step behind in space. Foster’s inability to drop in coverage should make for a wide open middle for Graham or the slot tomorrow. I hope not, as I’ll be there cheering for a Bucs win.

Rush him and let David and Casillas cover when we use them (know we’ll probably use 2 lb’s most of the time), but when and if we use 3, do it!

I remember when the “mob” said Foster needed to be benched or moved to the outside.
Shows, as usual, they can be wrong.
