Ogletree Says Pass Catchers Let Freeman Down
September 28th, 2013Greg Schiano told everyone that would listen prior to Wednesday that Josh Freeman was just a small piece of the Bucs’ offensive troubles in 2013. Schiano even defended Freeman on Monday. But then Freeman got the axe, without any other apparent changes to the offense.
Joe wondered whether Freeman taking the fall would mean other players felt guilty about letting their signal caller down. Wide receiver Kevin Ogletree acknowledged his slippery-fingers role and reminded Joe of the cutthroat business of the NFL.
JoeBucsFan.com: From Doug Martin to yourself and other receivers, there have been a lot of dropped passes this season. Is there any kind of feeling in the locker room of, ‘hey, we let Josh down.’
Kevin Ogletree: Yeah. You know, of course. But at the same time we’re all working our hardest. Collectively we haven’t gotten it done. So we’re just going to go about it with a workers mentality committing to getting better every day and finding out how we can improve. That’ll be taken on by the receivers and the running backs. Obviously, things haven’t gone like we wanted them. There have been too many plays that we want to have back. I’m sure Josh understands, just like any other big time quarterback in the NFL. You know, it is a business. That’s all.
Joe’s glad Ogletree mentioned the “business” side of the Freeman move. It’s often forgotten.
Joe was told by someone of extreme importance this week that it is accurate to equate the Freeman defrocking with the trade of Aqib Talib last season. Talib, per Bucs officials at the time, became expendable because the team had decided he would not return under any circumstances in 2013. So while Freeman’s performance was at the core of the change to Mike Glennon, his contract status played a role.
But make no mistake, Joe remains sure that Freeman would still be the Bucs’ starting QB today if Tampa Bay was 1-2, versus 0-3.
September 28th, 2013 at 7:15 pm
More specifically, it was a business move made by Schiano to divert blame from himself too Freeman.
September 28th, 2013 at 7:24 pm
But were not 1-2. Were 0-3 and Freeman is on the bench. Time to move on. It’s the Glennon era! GO BUCS!!
September 28th, 2013 at 7:45 pm
Man, I’d like to be all up in sniffin MG8’s jockstrap. Hello?? Tony tootoo?
September 28th, 2013 at 7:46 pm
God! I wish we would have got Joe Philbin! Send Schiano back to Jersey!!
September 28th, 2013 at 7:46 pm
Im famous people need to copy my name. Easy fix is to keep changing my name. Nice try though my #1 Fan.
September 28th, 2013 at 7:49 pm
Blah blah. Shoulda coulda woulda. Time to put all the excuses to bed. Freeman will be ancient history soon.
Remember when Rah chose Leftwich over McCown? To avoid controversy and calls for McCown to start, they traded him to the Jags. That gave the fans no more ammunition to use against them.
Same thing will happen with Freeman as soon as humanly possible. He’s a liability and they’ll move on from him faster than you can say Glennon Era. And good riddance, I say.
September 28th, 2013 at 7:50 pm
Freeman started his Bucs career by sucking against New England and finished it by sucking against New England. How appropriate.
September 28th, 2013 at 7:53 pm
Give Shiano a chance, the D looks pretty damn good and he is a D coach.Glennon will make the BUCS look a lot better tommorw.By half time everyone will LOVE GLENNON!
September 28th, 2013 at 7:56 pm
To Mr Ogleteree, you’re the last person us Bucs Fans need to be hearing from. You’ve dropped some deuces all over the field. You’re a BIG reason that we’ve gotta resort to a rookie 3rd round QB in week 4 (no knock on Glennon…do ur thing)
Who I wanna hear from is Mr P.J. Fleck…. Why did he leave so suddenly after just ONE YEAR under Greg, as (I believe) the youngest assistant coach……who produced the best Dual threat WR combo in the league, not to mention our TE/slot receiver success.
So this young guy, MY AGE, decides to leave the NFL???? For Western Michigan??? Where he could have stuck around for 1 more year, went on to coordinator, and a year or two later, maybe even a HC…..
Was Kaiser Schiano’s Kung Fu grip too much for this smart cat???? Interview this dude JBF….
September 28th, 2013 at 7:56 pm
Schiano + Glennon = Division Title and Super Bowl Trophy
Book it.
September 28th, 2013 at 7:57 pm
Dude, you got a problem.
September 28th, 2013 at 8:00 pm
“Give Shiano a chance, the D looks pretty damn good and he is a D coach.Glennon will make the BUCS look a lot better tommorw.By half time everyone will LOVE GLENNON!”
I DO hope Glennon does well. But our D fell off big time last week compared to weeks 1 & 2. They need to realize that from here on out, every game is Do or Die. And go all out! Just get nasty and make as many WRs piss themselves as possible. THAT should be their goal.
September 28th, 2013 at 8:00 pm
I agree TonyTooToo does have a problem.
September 28th, 2013 at 8:04 pm
Oh look it’s the Grand Poobah himself, my alter ego… scram!
September 28th, 2013 at 8:05 pm
Anybody who brains can see that you type nothing like the original Couch Fan. LMAO.
Again nice try my #1 Fan
September 28th, 2013 at 8:05 pm
With* brains
September 28th, 2013 at 8:06 pm
Our offence helped our D look like crap, at the beginning of the game we did good at stoping Brady.
September 28th, 2013 at 8:08 pm
Glennon 3TDS tomorrow and a BUCS victory!
September 28th, 2013 at 8:10 pm
Agreed, were gonna be Winnin with Glennon!! GO Bucs!!
September 28th, 2013 at 8:10 pm
I think Schiano is going to make a great NFL Head coach, but I think he’s going to have to fail a few times. He’s got what it takes. He turned a Rutgers program into respectable after it was absolutely garbage.
He took one of the worst teams in the NFL in 2011 and made it a competitor at 7-9. You can’t get what you want in place in two seasons. The guys who are his Coordinators were not his first choices.
Lets put it this way: Schiano was pressured to find quality NFL experience to run the offense and defense. What he should have done was hire the coaches he wanted (defensive coordinator from Rutgers, who is the Assistant. Def. Coordinator now). He could not get McNulty, he’s got him now. I’d make the move and fire Sully and run what you want to run.
But if we did that, everyone would say “College”. Guess what? Harbaugh did it. He wanted the guys who would run his scheme.
Glennon either saves Schiano or costs him his NFL job. But I will say this: the Bucs scouting department needs to get better. That is where a lot of there problems lie. Too much spending on Free Agency is not the best way to build your team. Too many misses in the draft that our scouting department and GM has made in error.
September 28th, 2013 at 8:10 pm
Whatever. I hate Freemanites and copy cats that act like children. Get a life!
September 28th, 2013 at 8:14 pm
Again, the original Couch fan hates nobody. Except Freeman as a QB of course.
I’m ashamed of your poor performance. You should know me better than that.
September 28th, 2013 at 8:16 pm
The immaturity on this board to immitate and pose as another is pathetic. We’re all buc fans here.
September 28th, 2013 at 8:16 pm
dude, couch. you’ve gone mental….Im sorry bro. sympathies to your mother.
September 28th, 2013 at 8:16 pm
Chris don’t come in here and even act like you have half a brain. And you might want to get off of Schiano’s jockstrap! LMAO
One thing I do know is I love Glennon and tomorrow were gonna be Winnin with Glennon!! GO Bucs!!
September 28th, 2013 at 8:17 pm
but at least now you know who not to fck with, see??
September 28th, 2013 at 8:19 pm
I agree CHRIS we should fire sully and just let Shiano’s first pick go ahead and run the O.Glennon first start first win.
September 28th, 2013 at 8:20 pm
This should read “Joe says pass catcher’s let Freeman down.”
September 28th, 2013 at 8:21 pm
“But at the same” means, I politely disagree with you.
September 28th, 2013 at 8:21 pm
And you still are imitating me wrong.
Here’s a clue look at my other posts that I’ve typed on other articles. Anybody with an eye for detail can see a glaring difference between the fake Couch Fan and me.
But I see your learning. LMAO to bad you still can’t get it right.
September 28th, 2013 at 8:22 pm
Waiting for tomorrow’s game is almost like waiting for the first game of the season all over again. Let’s hope the results are better this time.
September 28th, 2013 at 8:23 pm
@ Chris
I agree that Schiano could very well make a great NFL coach. He needs to be given some credit for our Defense and even as bad as the offense was in the first two games we should have won both of them.
I actually think the problems may lie more with Sullivan & to some degree the personnel group.
Everyone was ready to anoint Sullivan last year…believing we would lose him to a HC job…not so fast.
Personnell wise…I’d love to have Dallas Clark & Tiquan Underwood on the field instead of the “committee” of TEs & Ogletree.
The fans are falling for the press-bashing of Schiano. I can’t blame them…its hard to blame 6-8 players for not doing their jobs…easier to blame the coach. I think the Glazers are not that short-sighted and will have some patience with him.
September 28th, 2013 at 8:24 pm
hey couch…. theyve got a fresh bed waiting for you at the top floor of TGH. get well soon….
September 28th, 2013 at 8:28 pm
@Tampabaybucfan
All of a sudden you wanna act like a humanitarian. After tomorrow he could very well be 1-10. That’s not good LMAO
September 28th, 2013 at 8:34 pm
I had the pleasure of meeting Coach Schiano at yesterdays Springstead Eagles vs Berkley Prep that his son plays for and let me tell you he was a gentleman and a big supporter of his sons team. He came across very genuine and although the Tampa bay Buccaneers never came up I will support him and give him the benefit of the doubt! By the way my sons #67 Eagles won 30-18! But I did hear the Schiano name called out a lot as his son made a crapload of plays.
September 28th, 2013 at 8:37 pm
@ Couch
The last thing I am is a humanitarian….I just really like what I’m seeing from our defense. I don’t think they play like that for a coach they don’t like….but I could be wrong.
One thing I do know…Josh Freeman is proving we did the right thing by dumping him. The man is making 8.5 mil and is acting like he is entitled to the job he screwed up.
September 28th, 2013 at 8:39 pm
Where the hell is BucFansSuck?….we need him to galvanize our JBF fanbase!!!
September 28th, 2013 at 8:48 pm
Just tank the season and get Manziel with the first pick.
September 28th, 2013 at 8:52 pm
Tampabaybucfan, Im only 32, this month, but if you rely on anyone to “galvanize” sht for you. Are you NOT A MAN???? Galvanize your own sht!!!
September 28th, 2013 at 8:52 pm
King Couch Fan
Dude you are a disturbed individual. How long have you been stalking me?
Don’t act like you know me. And yes I have been known to throw personal insults.
Stop acting like a punk! Oh wait! You can’t, cause you are a punk! LMAO
September 28th, 2013 at 8:53 pm
Laugh it up, but I think Napoleon Dynamite is going to be our QB of the future. I just have a feeling that this guy is going to end up shocking some folks with his solid play.
Glennon understands we have play makers and to just get them the ball. I am thinking biggest impact will be hitting his receivers in stride and bringing some YAC.
Everyone wants to get on the drops, MG8 is going to turn those into catches.
I believe this because Glennon is smart, quick minded, not scared to fire the ball, has a gun and most importantly us Buc fans are DUE TO HIT THE QB JACKPOT.
Freeman may go on to have success, but it’s necessary that he is gone. The last remaining piece of the Rah era.
Go Napoleon! Vote for Pedro! Maybe we can call Muscle Hamster “Pedro”, bc he and Glennon are going to become the best of friends.
September 28th, 2013 at 8:55 pm
I am not going to judge Glennon until after the game tomorrow. Freeman had 4+ years to prove himself and he never got any better. If you look at most the drops, the receivers had to give everything they had to make the catch. A QB in his 5th year should know where to put the ball to make it easier for the receiver to catch.
Why isn’t anyone talking about the throws where the receiver was wide open (many times) and he threw the ball over their heads or at their feet. Has everybody not watched Freeman the last 4 years.
Every time he dropped back to pass I would always say , another interception is coming.
Remember the 1 yard dump off passes to a running back that was 9 yards away from the first down.
September 28th, 2013 at 8:58 pm
Have Glennon throw screens to Demps tomorrow. That would be nice.
September 28th, 2013 at 8:59 pm
Lol Aww TonyTooToo your boyfriend showed up.
You can copy my name but that isn’t going to do anything but give me a reason to make a new one. Which doesn’t bother me considering I like coming up with names.
Continue your attempts to “Run” me… but as you see I’m still here! LoL.. Unlike Freeman who will be gone soon.

September 28th, 2013 at 12:36 pm
See he called me King. From now on i will be known as King Couch Fan.
……you insane fck.
September 28th, 2013 at 9:01 pm
@ Tony Two Cents
So youre’ 32…I’ve been going to Buc games for 36 years..
Here are some stats for you.
Season ticket holder 1976
Flew in Programs for a party for first ever pre season game vs LA Rams….lost 20-3
Since in NC have traveled to a game every year and am 14-2
I have watched every single game the Bucs have played since their beginning
If that doesn’t qualify me in your eyes…I really could care less.
September 28th, 2013 at 9:02 pm
hey TBBF, for that, I bow down. But its not my fault I was born in 81. But respect nevertheless.
September 28th, 2013 at 9:04 pm
You kept trying me couch. youre buried now. come back as a love seat you pathetic fck.
September 28th, 2013 at 9:06 pm
And how exactly do you figure I’m “buried”?
Because you think your smart by making up a cute lil play on my name? LMAO
Such hostility… it seems you are the angry little man that you claim I am.
September 28th, 2013 at 9:06 pm
I’ve really thought more about this the past few days, and now place just as much blame on our coaching staff as I do on Freeman. With this teams luck, he’ll probably find success elsewhere with the right coaches and right system. You don’t just go from 2010 form to being the worst quarterback in the NFL. Just doesn’t make sense. Freeman definitely could’ve played better; but will we ever know how good he could’ve been with some coaches who had REAL NFL experience and an OC who ran a better offense?
September 28th, 2013 at 9:07 pm
you. are. crazy dude! this is the last time I acknowledge you.
September 28th, 2013 at 9:09 pm
Screens to DEMPS that sounds like a great plan .GLENNON will not shock me I know he will have a great game and be the next great QB!!!!
September 28th, 2013 at 9:11 pm
@ the Joes
“Its Only Entertainment!”
September 28th, 2013 at 9:12 pm
Reports have shown Freeman to be “laid back” “easy going”. Is that what you want in your quarterback? I want a stone cold killer, like Dan Pastarini sluggin reporters in the locker room, show me the hunger for victory. Laid back / easy going = SOFT
September 28th, 2013 at 9:12 pm
Oh now you want to ignore me again? After trying to imitate me and failing miserably. LMAO
You said 2 hours ago you were ignoring me… but yet here you are, still talking.
I told you, my super powers will compel you.
September 28th, 2013 at 9:12 pm
Big Brother is at work again. Can’t win against Brother. You have no shame!
September 28th, 2013 at 9:13 pm
Would some of you talk BUCS or get off of here, isent it yalls bed time.
September 28th, 2013 at 9:16 pm
@ Tony Two Cents
81 was a good year…was married then. Bucs drafted James Wilder…went 9-7 & lost 38-0 to the Cowboys in the playoffs.
By the way….my two losses on my trips down were Pittsburg a few years back and the Redskins game last year….
The one thing our Bucs usually give us is a game that goes down to the wire. Last week was an exception.
September 28th, 2013 at 9:16 pm
Fire Sully!
September 28th, 2013 at 9:17 pm
@ BucoBruce
Trying to but it’s hard when some are trying to swing off my testies. I gotta fight my fan club off with a stick!!
September 28th, 2013 at 9:18 pm
Yes, give the duties to Mcnulty
September 28th, 2013 at 9:20 pm
Joe if this thread BS continues you might lose traffic…people will just leave. There are people and 1 person in particular that keeps taking a giant crap on your site and has been doing it daily for the last 3 weeks and you do nothing. Enjoy!
September 28th, 2013 at 9:22 pm
@TBBF, Im sure you’d have priceless stories from each of those games. As a purist, I think all of those stories, yours and theirs, should be documented and saved in some sort of Hall of Records. Like my first Buc game, was when we beat the 15-1 Vikings and ran over them with Alstott n Dunn. Cant believe that was 15 yrs ago…..
September 28th, 2013 at 9:22 pm
I was ready for Mcnulty after the 3rd and six in the Saints game. What kind of buffoonery was that? Reminded me of the losses last year at NYGiants and Cowboys. Down by two scores with time running out and you resort to run plays???????????
September 28th, 2013 at 9:25 pm
1987
Dude don’t worry, they’ll eventually go away!!
September 28th, 2013 at 9:26 pm
Ok now the original Couch is back while the imposter left. Anyways sorry about that to everyone. Can’t sit back though and let someone act like a fool under my name.
September 28th, 2013 at 9:27 pm
@ SteveK
I agree with you on most of your points about Glennon. But I wouldn’t pin my hopes on the “we’re due to hit the QB jackpot” thing.
True franchise-type QBs don’t come around that often. Some teams seem to get them back-to-back, while others rarely get one. We’ve never really had one. Stafford may prove to be one, but prior to him, the Lions haven’t had one since Bobby Layne in the 1950s.
We’re due for a franchise QB. I’m due for a threesome with two hot Asian girls that I don’t have to pay for. Johnny Depp’s due for an Oscar. Justin Bieber is due for a good ass kicking.
Considering the odds of any of those things happening, though, I think Glennon emerging as a franchise QB might be the most likely. The journey begins tomorrow.
September 28th, 2013 at 9:27 pm
If Glennon turns out be a bust I say all in on a FA QB, draft one too. How long before others on the team request a trade?
September 28th, 2013 at 9:29 pm
All I know about the Bucs offense is what everyone knows. It sucks. It would be nice if they could be a little more creative, but they can’t. Because they don’t have the right personnel even if they wanted to. Sully or no Sully there is no TE and no 3rd receiver. That being said they better figure why and what to do about it in the offseason or perhaps sooner. It really would be nice to trade Josh for a 1/2 decent slot receiver, but no one wants him.
September 28th, 2013 at 9:30 pm
@Buc1987
I think Freeman made the offense look more predictable than it really is. I bet we see a different offense tomorrow.
September 28th, 2013 at 9:33 pm
Tony Two Cents….
My most priceless moment at the “Sombrero” wasn’t a Bucs game…it was before the season started on 7/4/76….Bicentennial…..it was an Eagles/Fleetwood Mac/Loggins & Messina Concert.
4th ot July cherry bombs and fireworks had to be swatted off to keep from getting blown up….the pre-season started the next month.
September 28th, 2013 at 9:34 pm
So what happens if Freeman is traded and Glennon gets hurt? Is it officialy the Orlovsky era? Freeman had the Freemanites, Glennon has the Mob, I guess that leaves Orlovsky the “gang”, “group”, “ski’s” “orlo’s”, “cult”????
Then maybe it will be Tebow-Time!
September 28th, 2013 at 9:40 pm
@ OviedoBucsFan
Maybe Tebow can just go to Oviedo and chase the chickens around town.
September 28th, 2013 at 9:40 pm
Hey…You guys have been very rough on my son lately. Give him a break…he’s a good boy. He’s tough too….he beat all the kids up in the neighborhood.
And…unlike you punks…if he sees someone on the street in a dress and they have an adam’s apple…he doesn’t proposition them.
Give Greg a chance and he’ll make your team a winner for years to come.
September 28th, 2013 at 9:42 pm
Joe!!! I left Pewter Report because of all the trash talking back and forth between fans that had nothing to do with the Bucs or football. If the stupid S**T continues on your comment section you will lose a fan and i will have to move on. If you or the real Bucs fans dont care , so be it. EXIT
September 28th, 2013 at 9:47 pm
whatever
September 28th, 2013 at 9:47 pm
People really do complain about the dumbest things. It must be really hard to skip over a few posts.
Lighten the heck up people!! Life is to short to b!tch about meaningless things.
September 28th, 2013 at 9:48 pm
@Tony Two Cents………you mean Stevie Nicks?
September 28th, 2013 at 9:50 pm
@ Tony Two Cents
My most classic Buc experience was when we hosted the 1979 NFC Championship vs…LA Rams….we lost in the rain 9-0….
The outcome wasn’t good…but just to be in that positon after starting 0-26 a couple of years earlier was fantastic.
That is why when I comment on Shaun King i say!
“Shaun King, one of two Buc Quarterbacks that lost a NFC Championship Game when his defense gave up 11 or fewer points.”
The other one was Doug Williams at that game!!!
September 28th, 2013 at 9:51 pm
deathaneers…yep it’s only a matter of time.
September 28th, 2013 at 9:53 pm
Doubt it. Lots of people threaten to quit. Not many do. You know all about that ’87.
September 28th, 2013 at 9:54 pm
Just imagine……we were almost in a Super Bowl! In the creamsicle unis!
September 28th, 2013 at 9:55 pm
Stevie Nicks was thin then….so was Elvis…saw him in Tampa in 1972.
You guys should have been there for their first season….we were just hoping for a score…anything to cheer about…
I guess times haven’t changed much.
September 28th, 2013 at 9:56 pm

I guess its all how you look at it. To me “BS” is funny. Thats one of the main reasons I like coming here. It keeps me entertained. If your the type who can’t take a joke then I agree… no reason to be here.
Anytime you deal with massive amounts of people, whetther on a website, or in person, theres going to be stupidity. No way to avoid it. Me personally, I dont take anything personal and I hope nobody else does either.
September 28th, 2013 at 10:00 pm
I imagine I’ll be cheering about the D tomorrow as well.
September 28th, 2013 at 10:01 pm
@ Patrick
So….see…there is always hope…its what keeps us Buc Fans.
I know things seem bad…but its mostly about expectations. I am crushed by our first two losses…and I’m sure Schiano is stunned by them.
Most people don’t go back to the Buc beginning…it just isn’t relevant now….but I can’t help it…its in my core.
I can’t tell you how grateful I am for Jon Gruden. I don’t care what anyone says….when the time came, he brought home a winner!!!
September 28th, 2013 at 10:02 pm
No there was not this kind of childish stupidity on here a week ago…

Actually I think you need JBF!! Who else would make up your mind for you, you weak minded little man!! LMAO
September 28th, 2013 at 10:03 pm
It just all of a sudden transpired..make excuses for the BS all you want. There was a lot of people on here for weeks and weeks now. None of this BS was taking place.
September 28th, 2013 at 10:06 pm
Child.
September 28th, 2013 at 10:06 pm
The more interviews i read and listen to from different players and people close to the situation the more convinced i am that this had nothing to do with Shiano not liking Freeman and wanting to get rid of him and more about him giving him a clean slate like coach said when he got here and Josh did not gain his respect or the respect of his teammates. If you ask me Josh lost the locker room at the end of last year and never got it back,Shiano hoped Josh could get it back this year but it didn’t happen and it even got worse by him being late to meetings and team picture. The only person to blame is Josh and Josh alone so people need to stop the drama.
September 28th, 2013 at 10:06 pm
What BS? Only thing thats happened lately that hasent happened before (that I know of) is someone stealing other peoples names and using them to hide behind while they insult others.
September 28th, 2013 at 10:07 pm
Like this idiot using my name. Smh
September 28th, 2013 at 10:08 pm

September 28th, 2013 at 10:14 pm
I’ll volunteer to be the first to step away permanently. Goodbye all, never to post here again. I’m not leaving in anger, just time to go. I hope all of your Buc wishes come true. My last post forever! Go Bucs!
September 28th, 2013 at 10:14 pm
So…back to the game, lets all watch and see. I am actually excited to see what the offense can do! Hopefully with VJac and mike. Ogletree, well he needs a great game or I’m done with him!
September 28th, 2013 at 10:15 pm
Keep trying Tony. I’m sure in your mind people believe you…
I thought you weren’t acknowledging me anymore?
Funny how you keep going out of your way to talk to me. Now do me a favor and stfu.. .you are p!ssing people off.

@ Whoever is the real Couch Fan
Really? Then let’s talk football and see how fast it all degenerates into a neurotic juvenile pissing contest.
Freeman and Glennon both had two full seasons as starters in college. In those two years, their completion percentages were nearly identical.
Freeman threw fewer interceptions (19) than Glennon (29). However, Glennon threw 62 TD passes versus Freeman’s 38. Josh threw a TD for every 23 attempts, and every 165 passing yards. Glennon threw a TD for every 16 attempts, and every 114 passing yards.
What that tells me is that Glennon’s gunslinger mentality will cause him to force throws that will be picked. But that same confidence in his ability leads to many more scores, and a more productive offense.
Like I’ve said on here before, I think Glennon will do way more right than he does wrong, even though he will be careless at times.
September 28th, 2013 at 10:41 pm
OK….who’s going to second-guess the move to bench Freeman?
Do it now….before the game.
I am on the fence because I think I would have started him one more game…but I’m not on the inside….I don’t think this is just Schiano’s move.
The problem with starting Freeman one more game is that he might have played well….then gone on a six-game losing freak show.
I don’t expect too much from Glennon, but I think the rest of the team really needs to step up tomorrow.

@ Illuminati
Great analisys….and could be on target…the only wild card is coaching/playcalling….If you are a gunslinger and are held back…how does that fit into the equasion?
September 28th, 2013 at 10:48 pm
@Illuminati
I dont really like comparing people’s stats so I will just stick to what I’ve seen of him (which isn’t much but some high lights and pre-season). Glennon does a number of things much better than Freeman on tape. He throws a beautiful ball as opposed to Free’s wobbly ball that spins in every which direction. He also appears to be much more mobile in the pocket than Free… His accuracy appears to be spot on as well.
Again I havent seen much of him so I could be wrong but from what I have seen he looks like an improvement in a number of areas. I do agree that Glennon will do more things right than wrong and overall I think he will be a major upgrade. I personally can’t wait to see what he can do.
September 28th, 2013 at 10:48 pm
@ TBBF
You are 100 percent right. The organization had already made its decision regarding Freeman. If he came out and lit it up tomorrow, it would have made it impossible to bench him, even though you know he could roll out a massive five-game horror show at any time.
The powers that be made the right call.
September 28th, 2013 at 10:55 pm
@ Illuminati
Thanks for taking us back to football….
Actually, I think the call came from upstairs….In Schiano’s press conference on Monday he was adamant that Freeman was his QB. Then Tuesday, the benching…..that just is not Schiano’s style.
I think the Glazers & Dominick wanted to make the change…;possibly in hopes to trade Freeman…knowing he wasn’t coming back. They are taking the gamble that even if Glennon isn’t ready…he will still perform at a level equal to Freeman. That way Glennon gets game experience under his belt. If he improves toward the end of the season he stays..if he doesn’t then perhaps they will go for a QB in FA or the draft.
September 28th, 2013 at 10:56 pm
@ TBBF
They won’t hold Glennon back for very long. In fact, if I was Schiano/Sullivan, I’d go five wide every down the first offensive series and let Glennon pick the open man.
Start the kid off with a bang. I mean, he’s Dynamite, right?
September 28th, 2013 at 11:01 pm

I agree. Were gonna have to get aggressive if we are going to come back from this 0-3 deficit. I dont think anyone in that lockeroom is thinking the season is over yet.
September 28th, 2013 at 11:02 pm
@ Illuminati
Do we have 5?
I’d like to see Demps & Shepard ih the mix….Shepard can run, pass & catch…we need to inject some excitement and unpredictability to our offense

That’s because on Monday, Josh was the starter. I’m in a foreign city for the next six months, but fortunately I have NFL Network, and saw a couple of analysts basically say that Freeman got “the dreaded vote of confidence,” meaning you know he’s about to get benched.
The organization was heavily invested in Freeman. Benching him could not simply be a coach’s decision. Schiano wasn’t lying. The day he was asked that question, Freeman was the starter to his knowledge, even if Schiano didn’t necessarily want him to be. But Schiano, Dominik, and at least one Glazer met both Monday and Tuesday nights, and by Wednesday it was Glennon time.
September 28th, 2013 at 11:09 pm
I think it all comes down player skillset vs scheme. Every one says the coach has to coach to the players strengths. Well that goes both ways. The coach also has to have players whos skill set optimizes his scheme.
They tried to change Josh but it wouldn’t take. It’s not his fault. It’s not coaches fault. It’s like oil and water Glennon’s style fits better.
So basically Schiano and Dom and Glazers had to choose between Josh and Sully. They picked Sully.
The last three games proved they couldn’t change Josh so they need to see what Glennon can do, so they know what to do next offseason.
Just my thoughts
September 28th, 2013 at 11:10 pm
Tomorrow we will see what we got. Fingers crossed!
September 28th, 2013 at 11:14 pm
Glennon will light it up tomorrow or I will come on here every night and tell everyone how stupid I am and meet me at gate c at the eagles game and kick me in the nuts.GLENNON is a sharpshooter!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 28th, 2013 at 11:19 pm
Glennon gets his first 300 yard game and his first W.
September 28th, 2013 at 11:21 pm
@ BucoBruce
Careful what you wish for. You might end up like that “Ow my balls” guy in Idiocracy.
September 28th, 2013 at 11:27 pm
Illuminati
your not wishing for that
September 28th, 2013 at 11:29 pm
Playaction and screens and quik slants will make Glennon look amazing and then bam a 70 yard bomb!!!!
September 28th, 2013 at 11:29 pm
@ TBBF
I’d love to see five wide with Jackson, Williams, Page, Demps, and Shepard.
September 28th, 2013 at 11:31 pm
I have a feeling our D is going to be nasty and just dominate.
September 28th, 2013 at 11:45 pm
so glad ogletree understands the business side of things so when he gets the axe he wont cry like his ex qb did….i hope his salary compares to his production….he’s another eric wright oh no what have i done signing
September 28th, 2013 at 11:51 pm
@ Tony Two Cents
Idiocracy was kind of a crappy film. But the concept was brilliant, and it doesn’t take much more than casual observation and a little vision to see society eventually devolving to nearly that level.
September 28th, 2013 at 11:57 pm
I can’t believe just how long I’ve believed in this team. It’s pretty much do or die now. if we lose to the Cards all’s pretty much for nothing and down with the ship I go. GOOO BUCS!!!
September 29th, 2013 at 12:01 am
No idea why we signed Ogletree. I thought we should have made a run at Brian Hartline. Yeah, he would have cost a few bucks, but what a great third receiver he would have been, and we could have found a way to make it happen financially.
Of course, I was banging the table to draft Eric Decker in the third round in 2010. But instead, we took Myron Lewis. Yay.
I don’t know why this team can’t grasp how important a solid third receiver is. Remember what Joe Jurevicius did for us?
September 29th, 2013 at 12:17 am
^^^^ That’s how I feel. Hopefully he will get another shot and do well.

Freeman does seem like a good guy, and I’m sure he did the best he could, and until recently, no one has really doubted his work ethic, at least not publicly.
No one ever expected Freeman to be Peyton Manning, either.
But he’s in a high-profile business, and makes more money in one week than most Americans will earn in their entire lives. So, he is not above scrutiny.
Most average, hard-working people would be fired in a heartbeat if they underperformed the way Josh Freeman has over the course of four years. So why, exactly, should he be held to a different standard?
Nobody paid me a half-million a week while I was “growing up” and “figuring out the business.” You?
It’s not just that he didn’t produce enough, because we’ve all seen him play very well at times. It’s that he didn’t progress, and showed no signs that he ever would.
Criticizing Freeman isn’t “ripping him apart.” He’s 25 years old and is already wealthy enough to buy and sell everyone who posts here. I’m sure he can take it.
September 29th, 2013 at 12:57 am
This is a huge game. I’ve heard people whine for years about how the Bucs don’t get enough national media attention. Well, you have it now.
What will you do with it?
September 29th, 2013 at 2:18 am
GLENNON = WINNIN’
GO BUCS
September 29th, 2013 at 2:57 am
What’s also funny is that this was not solely Schiano’s decision, yet everyone is acting like it is.
For all we know ownership had the largest part in pulling his plug.
September 29th, 2013 at 4:05 am
My top 3 (of the died too young crowd):
Jim Morrison
Jimi Hendrix
Bradley Nowell
Bob Marley
Alright, so four.

Only reason I’ve moved on to coffee is because I drank all the booze in the apartment.
I have to remember I’m in Mexico City now, where there are no stupid laws about when an adult can and can’t buy alcohol, so I could just pop down to the 7-11 or OXXO and get more.
September 29th, 2013 at 4:24 am
Bucs D will play lights out, and Glennon will let the cactus chickens know they’ve entered the liger’s den.
BUCS
September 29th, 2013 at 4:34 am
Screw it. I’m just gonna sleep ’til kickoff.
Peace and hair grease.

Joe, I have to side with the other posters on here who are asking for a more thorough policing of the comment section. Normally I can glance over the back and fourth between a couple people where things get a little personal but still stick mainly to football related topics but lately we’ve seen comment sections devolve in to something that looks more like a YouTube comment string full of ignorance and vitriol. I come here for your stories and updates but also enjoy the characters who contribute. it’s unfortunate that the immaturity of a few without the knowledge to support a worthwhile opinion still feel the need to be heard at the expense of the rest of us
September 29th, 2013 at 6:57 am
Joe,
I think we need a bit more of a consistent streamlined system here in the comment section. Too easy to imitate others. Thinking that we all can be mature adults here, butt the dude immitating Couch is a bit of a cowhard.
September 29th, 2013 at 7:53 am
lol @Illuminati, i just woke up and normally have coffee but decided to start things out right with a vodka grapefruit (cant do that too much though, I’ll be out by gametime….just 1 or 2 for that good morning buz hahaha.)
September 29th, 2013 at 7:58 am
Freeman’s personal conduct left Schiano, Dom & the Glazers with no choice but to make a change. Freeman has let himself down along with his teammates and the fans.
September 29th, 2013 at 8:01 am
@Illuminati, Ive been to Acapulco twice (stayed 2 weeks both times) and man I LOVED it. I got to experience what celebrities must go through, having the girls throw themselves at them, when they go to clubs…plus I was usually the biggest guy there (and Im not big, its just most of them were under 5’6)…..man, those were the days back in my 20’s, haha.
Oh, I flew over Mexico City and you’re right, HUGE city. Have fun there man, but be careful!!
September 29th, 2013 at 8:09 am
@ MadMax
Thanks….I’ve been a Buc fan from the beginning..so I know what everyone is going through all too much. It was amazing being in the stands in 1976….we just knew we were going to lose…but were there to support our team and hope they scored…even a great tackle brought the fans out of their seats.
Being a Buc fan is a privilege that i cherish!!!
September 29th, 2013 at 8:39 am
Schiano to USC!
Please.
September 29th, 2013 at 9:07 am
Schiano will be here for awhlle! Get use to Winnin with Glennon!! GO BUCS!!
So excited for gameday.
September 29th, 2013 at 9:11 am
@ King Couch
You’re exactly right…look for Schiano to be here at least through 2014….and perhaps longer if he wins. Buc fans will be a lot happier if they support him as he remakes the team….the Glazers are.
September 29th, 2013 at 9:41 am
Agreed! But ultimately Schiano has to produce wins. No other way around it. I believe he will now that his QB is here.
Just win and all the haters will forget about all the hating they did.
September 29th, 2013 at 9:49 am
Who cares – it’s all about MG and the future!
September 29th, 2013 at 10:36 am
I’ve been a lifelong Bucs fan. When Tampa Stadium was built and before the Bucs existed, I attended a preseason game there when Vince Lombardi coached the Washington Redskins. The Bucs came along shortly after other preseason games were held in Tampa Stadium. I also saw the Bucs first home win over the St. Louis Cardinals there and sat in the downpour beating Chiefs in 1979 3-0.
September 29th, 2013 at 10:47 am
That 3-0 victory over the Chiefs put the Bucs into the playoffs for the first time.
