Nicks To Take The Field Sunday

September 20th, 2013

One of Greg Schiano’s greatest dreams is coming true: Pro Bowl guards Carl Nicks and Davin Joseph are expected to start Sunday.

Schiano shared the good news at One Buc Palace today, and Nicks is fired up, via beat writer Rick Stroud’s Twitter account.

@NFLStroud – Can Nicks play the whole game? “That’s the plan but we’re going to find out. You guys will see it sooner than I will if I’m gassed.”

Joe can’t wait to see the human armoire, Nicks, take the field. Doug Martin must be drooling. Schiano came to the Bucs expressing his desire to run the football over and over again, and Nicks and Joseph are massive keys to that plan.

Yes, Joe wants to see the Bucs trust Josh Freeman and be more dangerous on offense, but if they can successfully grind out 40 carries and win ball games, Joe’s just fine with that, too.

We need him the rest of the way!

I want 40+ carries this Sunday. This is a must win game, not a lets build Freeman’s confidence game. You know what will build his confidence the most? Not having to spend another week with the media sharks circling. You know how that happens? By winning!

And whats our best chance of winning? Letting a QB with 0 confidence throw it 30 times against a Belichick coached team with 10 days to prep? Or by pounding it behind a great O-Line with a top 5 back and a couple quality backup backs? Seems obvious no?

  3. Walter Says:

The stage is set for the offense to have a great performance on Sunday.

    Lets hope Freeman shows up.

Well your one week late big Carl…but it’s very good to see him back.

This fires me up, I just wish we had him back for the Saints, I’m sure he would’ve made the difference, Carl Nicks is a BEAST, he is a mauler that eats lineman up like pac-man, he imposes his will on even the biggest D-lineman, so I like this game Sunday, even before Nicks! The Bucs are primed to keep getting better and have been the last couple games, I know a bunch of fans are down on them, but trust that this is a very talented team, and if we can avoid big injuries to big players, then NOBODY is going to want to fave the Bucs, mark my words!

I meant to say “Face” the Bucs…….hey joe, how about an edit option??

  7. BFFL Says:

I’m sure Shiano wants to beat “Belicheat’s” Patriots more than any other team. Expect new wrinkles to the offense. I also get the impression Shiano has done something different to ease the friction with the team.

  8. Brian Dorry Says:

So what you’re saying is that if we have a slight lead…with a few minutes left on the clock and needing a first down to ice it…we can count on three Martin runs straight up the middle? Sweet.

  9. bucfever40 Says:

I know people are hoping Freeman comes through, but he only threw 3 or 4 bad passes, coupled with some drops and stupid penalties, had this not happened, Josh would have had a darn good game, but this stigma is hard to negate, let’s just see what happens.

  10. Bobby Says:

I’m sure the plan is to make Freeman beat them with his arm. They will stack the box for Martin. I look for Josh to have a good game. Hopefully Dougie can get loose too.

  11. Buc1987 Says:

Bobby….if that’s the case, HOPEFULLY the pass can set up the run.

  12. Hawaiian Buc Says:

That’s great to have Nicks back, but I would expect him to be very rusty and out of shape. However, a rusty and out of shape Nicks is probably a lot better than anyone else we have. He’s going to be put to the test – blocking Wilfork is no easy task. Should be a great matchup.

I’ll bet Greg has had him running sprints (110X16) to get him in shape.

  14. Bobby Says:

Wilfork isn’t the one I’m worried about. It’s Chandler Jones.

    fixed it for you bobby

  16. Buc1987 Says:

    “It’s Josh Freeman”

    You mean the missing link?

    A Fan’s Prayer:
    Dear God,
Please bless Carl Nicks because we need him.
Please give us a threat over the middle.
Please help Freeman to live up to his potential.
Please help the people of the world to find wisdom
    and live productively.
    Amen.

    Thats a racist remark Buc1987!

  19. Jeagan1999 Says:

it’ll be nice to have the big guy back in the lineup on Sunday! Pound the ball down the Patriots throat and let’s start putting some “W’s” on the board! Much as I respect Tom Brady for his play, I want to see him harangued, harassed and running for his life every time NE gets the ball! I hope GMC and AC make him the creamy white center of an 800lb red and pewter Oreo cookie!!!! GO BUCS!!!!

Put up or shut up this week no more excuses

  21. Buc1987 Says:

The_Buc_Realist …which side his white or his black side?

  22. lightningbuc Says:

Nicks is back…one less excuse for the JFro Jock Sniffers

  23. Saskbuco Says:

Not disrespect to Carimi but Nicks at 60% is an upgrade. A win will begin to right the ship, were a blown coverage away from keeping the Aints out of the end zone, if our D can keep Brady and Patriots under 20, I’m confident Freeman and Co. will take care of business. Go BUCS
