Nicks Says Foot “A Lot Better Than I Expected”

September 25th, 2013

A rookie quarterback’s best friend is his offensive line and his running back, and it appears Mike Glennon will have that all covered on Sunday against the Cardinals, as he officially ends the Josh Freeman era.

The human armoire, superstar guard Carl Nicks, said today that his surgically-repaired toe came out of Sunday’s Patriots-Bucs game surprisingly well.

“A lot better than I expected,” Nicks said when Joe asked about the current health of his foot. “I’m full go from now on. Hopefully, I’ll be back to normal.”

This is fantastic news. Yes, Nicks needs to get his “wind” back, but he didn’t miss a snap in Foxborough and played pretty well. One would think he’ll be significantly improved Sunday.

    Gonna need you big fella. Its time to pound the rock a bit more with the roookie handling things.

  2. Walter Says:

    Sorry you had to come to Tampa to be lead by a 3rd round rookie QB Carl. Life isn’t fair, I know. Could’ve stayed in New Orleans.

    Wonder how Revis, Goldson, and V-Jax feel…

  3. Ricardo Esteban Says:

    Nicks will defend his new QB with a vengeance.

    I predict a W by at least 14 points and a newly invigorated team.

    sorry for all those who had their offee pissed I this morning!

  4. bucrightoff Says:

    I’d imagine they feel really, ridicuously rich and like they have to pay no state income tax. I’m sure they’re devastated,

  5. Walter Says:

    @bucrightoff

    Yeah, but they could have been rich winners if they avoided coming into contact with the New Schiano Order.

  6. SteveK (MGM) Says:

    Happy to see our BIG MEECH in the line up!

    Love me some Nicks. He plays pissed off, smart, with heart, and he is a 375 pound anvil. Easily our best offensive player when “right” and healthy.

  7. Couch Fan Says:

    lol So much for supporting the other guy huh walter? Lol, At least its good to know where your real loyalties lie. If it makes you feel any better I’m sure Freeman will be the best bucs back up in franchise history… for the next 13 games or so.

  8. lightningbuc Says:

    bucrightoff,

    correct! The Bucs offered Nicks more money than any other team, his check from the Glazers cash every week, Nicks could care less who the QB is! To think otherwise is naive.

  9. lightningbuc Says:

    couch fan,

    All these “real fans” are showing their true colors today – nothing but JFro Jock Sniffers

  10. SteveK (MGM) Says:

    Schiano deserves next year to have the opportunity to win. His D is so much better. Freeman’s failure is sad, but we can get over it between now and this off season.

    Freeman had one helluva a 2010 season, and we are doing the right thing for the “team”.

  11. SteveK (MGM) Says:

    I am personally saddened by Freeman’s fall from grace. I remember everything (now represented in doubt and displeasure) I thought about him after the 2010 season. He just didn’t blossom.

    I hope Josh is ok, BD 620 is making it sound like there is a big personal demon/problem for Freeman. Really sad, I must say, Freeman is one helluva nice guy, not fit to be our QB, but he seems like a genuine, laid back and kind human being.

    I hope the team rallies around our QB situation, and wins 11 of our next 13 games. Playoffs may be statistically not in our favor, but a new era of Buc Ball begins Sunday.

    Go Glennon! May you be the QB we thought Josh was going to be after the 2010 season. Work hard, develop, stay healthy and be a Buc!

    I hope Freeman puts it all together, he was at one point a fun QB to watch.

  12. Couch Fan Says:

    Can’t say I didnt expect it Lightningbuc… Still doesn’t lessen the shock though.

  13. BullDog Says:

    Glennon will not survive in the NFL. Like Chris Simms his body type will fail him.

  14. Tim Says:

    All I got to say is I wish Freeman all the best and honestly hope the young man can turn things around.

    As for the team, I don’t believe Glennon is our long term answer. But I will be there in my seats every Sunday cheering him on and hopefully he will be the spark that gets us a few wins this year.

  15. Oil Derrick Brooks Says:

    @Steve

    I didn’t get to hear. Same as the speculation earlier? Bad enough to join Aldon Smith?

    If that is the case, I’m pissed at him. Sure, on a human level, you feel empathy. But, what a dick punch that is to his teammates if he let partying get in the way of his commitments to the team. Especially at that position of leadership. Total disrespect to every other single guy who was sweating their nuts off all summer hoping to be a contender.

  16. Walter Says:

    Sorry I’m not putting much stock in our back up QB. You guys can dream all you want that he’s the answer.

    We’re on the verge of another regime change, and you people are celebrating. Pitiful.

  17. lightningbuc Says:

    Pitiful is wanting to continue to trot JFro out as a “franchise” QB.

    No one said Glennon is absolutely going to be the answer. But he MIGHT be. And we already knew Freeman wasn’t.

  18. Couch Fan Says:

    Keep pouting for us Walter. It’s the 2nd highlight of my day. Freeman getting benched of course is the 1st.

  19. Walter Says:

    @lightningbuc

    In my eyes, there’s nothing to be excited about here. The only thing that would make anyone happy in this situation is that Josh Freeman lost his job. In terms of the outlook for 2013 goes, this year is over, and we might be rebuilding again too if the next QB after Glennon fails.

  20. Walter Says:

    @Couch Fan

    I’m going to love watching you create a bright side for us too look at after our losing streak keeps growing.

  21. Oil Derrick Brooks Says:

    @Steve

    I didn’t get to hear. Same as the speculation earlier? Bad enough to join A_ldon Smith?

    If that is the case, I’m p_issed at him. Sure, on a human level, you feel empathy. But, what a D punch that is to his teammates if he let p_artying get in the way of his commitments to the team. Especially at that position of leadership. Total disrespect to every other single guy who was sweating their n_uts off all summer hoping to be a contender.

  22. Miguel Grande Says:

    Nicks says, “Hey, Hey, Heeeeeey!!

  23. Couch Fan Says:

    @Walter

    Do you need some tissues walter? Maybe some wet wipes?

  24. Walter Says:

    @Couch Fan

    No, I need this nightmare of a season to be over with. And a new QB.

  25. Couch Fan Says:

    Have no fear Walter. Freeman has been benched buddy. The nightmare is over!! GO Glennon and GO BUCS!!!

  26. Walter Says:

    @Couch Fan

    For all we know, the real nightmare is just beginning.

  27. George Hardy Says:

    The glamour positions get all of he ink but I believe games are won at the line of scrimmage. I am sure glad that Carl Nicks is back and hope the entire line can stay healthy. I wonder if the MRSA toe infection gave his toe some extra time to get stronger.

  28. Couch Fan Says:

    Perhaps… and perhaps not. But until Glennon steps onto the field to show something 1 way or the other, he has my full support and any Bucs fan for that matter.

  29. Walter Says:

    @Couch Fan

    Eh, I don’t see him being some sort of magical solution to this teams problems. It’d be nice if he was, but I still see him as Jimmy Clausen 2.0

  30. crazy Says:

    Glad his foot is better and he’s feeling good about it because he’s really gonna have his work cut out for him for the rest of the year.
