Josh Freeman = Jeff Driskel?
September 21st, 2013Bucs fans always used to moan that the Bucs never got any attention from national media types. Well, the past couple of weeks, Joe can never remember the Bucs getting so many words typed and spoken from scribes based out of New York, Bristol, Conn., and other points beyond Florida since the team played in the Super Bowl.
And little of the content has been good.
This is what happens when you choke away a pair of wins — one of which came in sheer stupid fashion in the media capital of the world.
How bad has the deluge been? It’s even coming from non-NFL circles.
As Joe is wont to do on football Saturdays, he lounges in his leather couch and soaks up as much college football as a human is allowed. Despite today’s slate of games being dreadful and unappealing, Joe still got up and watched the college football pregame shows.
Joe just happened upon FOX College Saturday hosted by leggy Erin Andrews. The panel discussed the wretched woes of the Florida Gators offense and quarterback Jeff Driskel’s struggles inside the red zone when Andrews invoked the Bucs.
“It’s like watching the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Their defense is just balling. I feel sorry for these guys because the offense is not helping them out at all,” Andrews said.
Andrews then made a face as if she was about to toss her breakfast across the table.
Now Joe isn’t going to go so far as to compare Bucs franchise quarterback Josh Freeman to Driskel, who looks completely inept at times.
To Driskel’s credit, while he may struggle mightily, he’s getting the job done off the field with his cheerleader girlfriend.

“I feel sorry for these guys because the offense is not helping them out at all.”
Andrews took the thoughts out of my head as I walked out of RJS last Sunday.

I think its sorta unfair to compare a young man like driskel to a guy whos made as many dumb decisions as freeman has. If driskel was in the nfl he wouldnt be a star but I bet he would progress as a qb. No one can say that about freeman.

We are beating the Patriots in Foxborough and the media swarm will have to suck left.

Offense, offensive. And whose fault? Fish rots from the head down. I sure hope you all are intelligent enough to know and see a few things. Like when ur coaches are unprepared and cant get proper plays in to the qb. Not getting the correct personnel in for the plays. This allows the qb to read the defense. When u have 3 seconds to react and less time than that to get rid of the ball as ur line can’t protect. Penalties- again not a qb problem. Oh yeah, and drops by the receivers and tripping. Again not qb problem. If Dotson hadnt lined up where he did, VJax touchdown. If Kevin”MICHAEL CLAYTON” Ogletree had caught the ball, and schiano had called better plays at the end, score would be 35-16 and Freeman would have 3 tds and over 300 yards. I know there is a high level of criticism on Freeman, and rightfully deserved. But be objective. If the Nazi furor a.k.a “Greg Schiano” wasnt so conservative, we would have had a chance to win.

Im not going to debunk a lot of what you said Robert only because it would take too much time. Freeman holds the ball for 6 seconds when your clock should be going off at 3. In addition, he locks on to his first read and doesnt move through progressions when that read isnt open. Its Qb 101. Freeman has all the ability and talent in the world but he lacks the intangibles. He always will lack the intangibles. What you see is what you get and the fact is with a decent QB we are a playoff team.

Something about cheerleaders. Maybe cause they’re so eager to “please”. Before every “session”, theyre all “Ready?OK!!”.
God bless em.

If Tampa does not win tomorrow, and Freeman has another bad game, we may be seeing his last appearances as a Tampa Bay Buccaneer.

she’s spot on! gr8 job Erin for calling that out!

I’m thinking Logan Thomas of VT looks like a twin to Freeman!

She couldn’t be more right. Offense owes the defense a tip top performance tomorrow, or the only mutiny in the locker room will be the Bucs D against the Bucs O.

Both coaches are better defensive coordinators than head coaches.

Hmm. Driskel gets hurt, in comes the backup and Florida’s offense looks better than it has in a while…..
