Freeman Talks Alarm Clocks, Teammates & More
September 29th, 2013The awaited exclusive Josh Freeman interview just aired on BSPN and, among other things, Freeman revealed that his missed team photo shoot was caused by a wee-hours power outage that left his alarm clock blinking and showing “12:00.”
Freeman said he saw the clock on the sun up on Labor Day and felt awful. “I think I took it a lot harder than anyone else” on the team, Freeman said.
On the switch to Mike Glennon, Freeman said he thinks Glennon has good skills but “I don’t really understand the decision.”
Freeman said teammates were uncomfortable with the move to Glennon.
Speaking on BSPN’s pregame show, Keyshawn Johnson said the benching of Freeman is the start of “the blame game” from a coach on a very hot seat. Others on the BSPN crew said it should be obvious that Freeman’s performance led to the change. Chris Mortenson went on to say many of those outside the Bucs organization, who once worked alongside Freeman in the organization, are telling him that Freeman’s career is salvageable because of the great leadership and work ethic reputation he had.

Like Bobby Hebert said last week. ” If you wanna hoot with the Owls all night you’d better be able to soar like an eagle in the morning.”

Freeman could have used just about any other excuse and I could have thought there was a possibility of being true when it came to missing the team photo. But other than adults over the age of 50, no one is using an alarm clock anymore.
Here’s a good excuse next time Josh:
When turning off my lights before bed, I hit a switch that apparently controls the outlet I charge my cell phone with. Since it wasnt getting a charge, my cell died while I was sleeping and I use my cell phone as my alarm clock.

OOOOHHHHHHHHhhhhhh, now he says power outtage! heh.

Excuses, excuses. A 25 year old kid doesn’t set his iPhone alarm? He has an alarm clock as his only wake up call? Pretty hard to believe, and a little too convenient of an excuse.
This guy’s career thus far can pretty much be summed up in that one word. Excuses. Not enough weapons, too many coordinators, too many dropped passes…Time to man up and take responsibility for something, man. That will show other teams you are worthy of a chance, not pointing fingers. This guy will never be elite, he is what he is, and that is somewhat sad considering the amount of physical talent and potential that he had, and still does.

Whose alarm clock doesn’t have batteries in it for just that reason, I’m not sure any alarm clock doesn’t have a battery backup.

It’s time to cut him and get him out of the building. It’s clearly not salvageable. It was reported he didn’t even show up for a few meetings this week – what a professional. For all the talk of how mature he is, he is acted like such a baby. Aw, poor me, I got benched. This is the NFL, kid – Not For Long. It’s a business and you are completing 45% of your passes.
Trade him to the Raiders for a 6th round pick already and let’s move on.

I’ve used that alarm clock excuse :)!
So here’s what I think..
Schaino has it out for Freeman for some unbeknownst reason. He rigged the Captain vote and has been trying to de-rail him ever since. Now he has him off the sidelines in what seems to be the most childish move yet. Schaino is an idiot control freak that’s going to control himself right back to College. Thought he learned from the 4th down Eli Manning issue. But no he’s just a dumb Italian from jersey that thinks he can revolutionize the NFL. I knew he was a bad hire, didn’t donanything amazing with a college team in a so-so conference..and he had a decade. Yeah he turned it around but they were no powerhouse. And they expected this guy to compete in the NFL. He gives just as many dumb, clueless looks per game as Freelan does. Let Sully run the offense and go Head Coach shopping and start scouting for a QB to draft. We are done this season. We can try again next year.
On another note I’m excited to see Glennon on the field. I hope he chokes and Schainos plan blows up in his face.

Yeah it probably was the alarm clock malfunction. That, or the five eight balls.
September 29th, 2013 at 12:30 pm
(Cough)bull@&$!(cough). That excuse is 100% weak sauce.
September 29th, 2013 at 12:31 pm
Also love the fact that we are forever a rebuilding teams. Since we fired Gruden.

Bucs 3 Cardinals 27

He is handling this painfully bad. It’s irrelevent who is right or wrong (I would place blame upon both Freeman and Schiano/organization), but the way he is going about it is killing any trade value he may ever have. This is about to end very very badly. I don’t even know if we can get a 7th rounder for him at this point, especially with his contract. No way he’s on the team by the Philly game IMO.
September 29th, 2013 at 12:48 pm
Joe, let’s think about this. In a world of Iphones and Androids are we really to believe that a 25 year old is using an alarm clock that you plug into a wall and that his power going out is a viable story. Isn’t the team still issuing Ipads for playbooks. I’m suprized Shiano isn’t setting alarms for his players using those Ipads.

What, leadership!!

I’m definitely not a Freepologist, but some of you act as if oversleeping because of an alarm clock malfunction is impossible (SMH).
Now whether or not it’s true, I can’t say (although I also have my doubts). But it IS a viable excuse (if you’re into accepting excuses), and can happen to anyone.
On another note, I’m very afraid that I’m starting to like Keyshawn Johnson more (post Superbowl). First he chases down Justin Bieber for speeding, now he’s defending Freeman on national media (ESPN).
Good luck Freeman. I was proud of having you as my QB. Too bad you couldn’t pull it all together while you were here. Take care of whatever demons you have and you will succeed somewhere in the NFL…

What’s a Josh Freeman?
September 29th, 2013 at 1:46 pm
Hey Josh, how come everyone else was at the photo? No cell phone alarm clock?
Honestly, if your used to waking up every day early, your internal clock does not sleep until noon unless you had a late late night.

@FalterSays:
“Bucs 3 Cardinals 27”
Wrong again, Madame Cleo!
September 29th, 2013 at 4:46 pm
Josh had a “communication” problem with his alarm clock.
Cmon man, He earns that much coin and doesn’t have an alarm clock with batteries. I call BS!
September 29th, 2013 at 5:31 pm
His alarm clock equipment manager was from Rutgers.

This is the first time I have been this deep, per say,in the web site….but I have a simple solution,Joe, to the question of did he over sleep due to the power even going on and off or an actual outage. Call TECO or where ever Josh lives and find out if there was an operation or outage on that circuit he lives on ? I work for a power company for 25 years and the information is there for the taking……..follow it up like a true journalist !
