Dashon Goldson Fined; Not Suspended
September 18th, 2013Bucs safety Dashon Goldson will not be suspended for the Bucs game with New England for headhunting, but he will be $100,000 lighter in the wallet.
Kevin Patra of NFL.com has the details.
Bucs safety Dashon Goldson had his one-game suspension overturned, NFL Media insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday, according to a league source.
Goldson was suspended by the NFL for an illegal hit on New Orleans Saints running back Darren Sproles in Week 2.
Rapoport reported that Goldson will be fined $100,000 for the hit, equaling the record price tag Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh was hit with for being a habitual violator of the NFL’s safety rules.
Obviously Joe is happy about this. The Bucs secondary needs all hands on deck when facing Tom Brady, Bill Belicheat and the Patriots this Sunday.
Playing without Goldson would have been a major blow.

Hooray!!!! Now hit the fu.c.k out of Gronk if he even dares to suit up
September 18th, 2013 at 11:13 am
Merriweather better get $250,000.

I can’t find video of the hit anywhere. Is there a reason the NFL has scrubbed this video?

Thank goodness. But if you think the refs were being over-protective of Brees, imagine how they’ll act towards Brady. They won’t let The Bucs win.

Why is it that I think Goldson doesn’t give a hoot about the fine. I think he likes the way he plays, his reputation and the feeling he gets from wacking a reciever.
Things just got a little somber for the Pats reciever corps!!!

It’s obvious the NFL has an agenda against The Bucs. That’s heavily reflected by the refs and amplified through the media. Just speculation but c’mon.
September 18th, 2013 at 11:26 am
Not just the NFL JT. Florio has an agenda as well

I continue to have issues with how inconsistent the league is with it’s enforcement and punishment on all of these recent rule changes. I see helmet to helmet hits that go unflagged only to watch the next game–same day–where everything is called. Am I supposed to infer from this 100K fine that Suh’s dirty hit to the knee of an OL-man behind & out of the play is equal to Goldson’s bang bang play on the ball-carrier? It all looks like whim & reaction as opposed to a set policy. I don’t have issue with the evolution of the game, just the haphazard way in which it is being handled.

I suppose it’s against the CBA for the team to help him out the fine? Perhaps he gets a money stuffed paper bag in his locker, college style?

If only we could take up a collection powerful enough to FINE and FIRE some of these zebras…..AND THE HEAD ZEBRA GOODELL!!!
Well, money isnt everything 🙂

Steve the media just takes jabs at Tampa bay any chance it gets. I’m kind of surprised they got it out for The Bucs the way they do but for the last 4 years of so we all have heard the one side generalities about The Rays. It’s really disturbing. Tampa fans are the joke of the sports world because of the media. And sadly, many are too stupid or lazy to look up facts or even think for themselves. They let the talking heads do that for them.

@SteveBucsfan,
Florio and Kuselias definitely both have an agenda when it comes to the Bucs, which is sad because otherwise they have a decent site/show (except when they let The Hamburgler (Shaun King) on set, that’s when I turn the channel). They blatantly make crap up irregardless of the actual facts.
As far as the hit Goldson got fined on, I understand the head-to-head contact isn’t right, but he would’ve had to be crawling on the ground to avoid hitting Sproles in the head. And as far as people complaining about him lowering his head, if you’re lowering your shoulder to hit someone, your head is going to follow. Last time I checked they were attached to each other.

It would be nice if his teammates chipped in for the fine.
September 18th, 2013 at 12:01 pm
My understanding is Goldson wouldn’t have been payed for the game(256,000). So he’s actually 156,000 dollars richer.

Really feel optimistic about this game. I have a feeling without gronk and amendola Brady is going to keep struggling and bucs defense has been getting better week to week. Just need to Pound that rock with Martin plus don’t we get Carl nicks back?

Orlando Sentinel –
“TE Tom Crabtree, who missed the first two games with a high ankle sprain, is expected to return to the lineup Sunday at New England. The Bucs have not gotten much production from TEs Luke Stocker and Nate Byham.”

great news at least goldson plays old school unlike the saints aka the bounty hunters I still don’t know how can people respect payton after allowing that situation too happen, anyways on another note this is actually the first game that I feel really confident in winning looking at the match ups against the pats their shouldn’t be no reason why we shouldn’t win, but Again its all up to freeman TO PUT ON A CONSISTENT show lets go bucs. and for freeman time for you to step up
September 18th, 2013 at 12:56 pm
@true buc that’s good news I also hope they release stocker he is terrible. I honestly don’t get why he even starts
September 18th, 2013 at 1:01 pm
@ander, hell yeah! We went from almost losing goldson, to getting crabtree, goldson, and even nicks might be back.
This game feels like a turnaround to me!
