Watch Peyton Hillis Limp

August 9th, 2013

Joe knows legions of Bucs fans are like Greg Schiano; they like to see, feel, hear and taste every last Buccaneer detail. So with the spirit of the crazies in mind, Joe brings you this video from Bucs beat woman Jenna Laine, who captured Peyton Hillis coming off the field after the Bucs-Crows game last night.

Hillis ran hard but ended up with knee injury. It’s “hyperextended,” so Laine Twittered this morning.

    Peyton Hillis….buh bye!

  2. Macabee Says:

One of the NFL Network analyst whose name escapes me at the moment says it is not serious. Now how he knows, I have no idea. But let’s hope that he’s right! Rick Stroud says that it is not believed to be season-ending, whatever that means.

  3. bucfever40 Says:

I want to see him make the club, why would you wish him gone (B-87)? He’s a hard nose runner that’s not afraid of contact, that’s what Buc fans love, real ones anyway.

  4. Red86 Says:

I thought he did great. He and Leonard was great with those horrible blocking.

  5. MadMax Says:

    @buvfever40….Exactly!

Come on 1987, you seem to be an avid “post a lot”…so be an avid fan who doesnt kick an injured Man, A BUCCANEER when he’s down….you feel me?

  6. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Think its a good sign that he is walking on it. The only persons that understandingly may root for an injury to adversly affect a player’s chances are those who are competing for the job.
Even then, most competitve players would rather win the job outright on their on merits.

  7. Buc1987 Says:

@bucfever40… I don’t want him gone at all, but I live in Realityville. MY Bucs look to be pretty deep at RB. Hillis has always been a big question mark. If the injury is even minor, it will only add to the likely-hood that it’s buh bye pretty soon.

Realityville : like how much will he be able to practice and or play in pre-season?

“that’s what Buc fans love, real ones anyway.”

I hope that was not a reference to me, dem fightin’ words as far as I’m concerned.

  8. Buc1987 Says:

Holy crap everyone’s on the Peyton Hillis bandwagon now? Told you all a while back that I’m a realist.

@Tampabaybucfan …you call that walking on it. I call that barely walking.

  9. Buc1987 Says:

If it is a hyper extended knee. I suggest you take a minute or two to look at what that means for a guy trying to show what he’s got and made of or prove himself worthy to the team

    Realityville :http://voices.yahoo.com/hyperextended-knee-causes-symptoms-diagnosis-treatments-6891428.html

  10. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ 1987

OK….barely walking, but walking nonetheless….as versus, crawling, riding etc.
I hope Hillis makes the team because that would mean we probably have a Kick Returner in Michael Smith and have found a Punt Returner among our WR corps….and Glennon is playing well enough to keep us from 3QBs on the roster.
    Otherwise….he probably won’t make it.

  11. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ Buc 1987

Realityville?….that’s not to be confused with Buc Realist is it?

  12. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

I wasn’t really impressed by Hillis and his fumble and 3.3 yards per rush ave. But there is time left in the preseason for him to earn a spot if he does better.

    Brian Leonard did impress me.

  13. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Buc Realist probably blames Dominick for signing a player that hurt is knee in the first preseason game……That “terrible pop star”….

  14. robert Says:

I thought Hillis looked like a manbeast on his runs. ran with power.

if anything is by by captain inactive. Hillis looked better than James by far, but he’ll probably make it since he was just drafted. I just hope he can get back by the last preseason game. I liked what I saw.

  15. Buc1987 Says:

Tampabaybucfan…ha ha ha ha Buc Realist lives in Dementedville.

  16. robert Says:

and I looked @ the hit a couple times. looked more like a bruise kind of hit than an awkward tear your acl type.

that being said he was wrapped and has a HUGE limp. Hell I had a FULL acl tear and did not limp that bad.

a bruise or hyperextension may take more than a couple weeks, but I hope not!!!

  17. Buc1987 Says:

You guys know what I’m sayng though. If he can’t play or practice, how do they evaluate him? He is a well known fumble machine too that being one of the question marks when they signed him.

  18. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ Buc 1987

Where is “the realist” today?…..maybe getting therapy….or out shopping for a new dress?

  19. Buc1987 Says:

    ^^^LOL

  20. Lynch Says:

I want to this guy to make the club as well!

  21. Couch Fan Says:

If he can’t practice then I would agree that he probably wont make the team. But from what I’ve read and heard its only a bruise and shouldnt keep him gone for an extended period. I think he was far more impressive than Smith and probably James to. If he isn’t gone for to long I think he is our #3 back.

  22. teacherman777 Says:

    James looked slow and useless.

Hillis looked like a badass before getting tackled low twice!

I really thought he looked like an NFL RB.

I hope we keep him and he comes back strong.

Its a long season. And nobody knows what our team will look like by week 10.

I liked seeing Hillis in a Bucs uniform.

    He was fast and big!

  23. Kevin Says:

I hope he’s ok. Between him Bernard and Martin we could have one of the scariest backfields in the league. Hillis was running HARD!!!!!

  24. PRBucFan Says:

Hillis was not really a question mark, I called he would have a great shot to make the team and I still stand by that statement.

He makes the roster if the injury isn’t too severe.

  25. PRBucFan Says:

And James is hardly slow or useless

  26. Cmurda Says:

Agree with PR. he makes the team if the injury is not too severe. The but to my statement is that I think the injury is severe. If its hyper-extended then the likelihood of him practicing and being back before the end of preseason is small. This didnt look like a man walking with just a bruise.

  27. Cmurda Says:

Jenna Laine sent an update saying the knee is hyper-extended but isn’t expected to miss significant time. I don’t see Hillis making the roster. He already has an injury history and this could be more serious than not missing significant time. I hope I’m wrong. He really was running like a man ready to make an impact.

  28. Josh Says:

By far, the most disappointing thing about the game was realizing there were two players with the number 33 on the Bucs. Noticed it after the Hillis injury.

  29. Bucs34 Says:

Good thing Brian Leonard look decent!

  30. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    robert Says
“I thought Hillis looked like a manbeast on his runs. ran with power.”

The biggest problem with Hillis is his fumbling and injuries.

  31. BucoBruce Says:

Please keep HILLIS!!! He is a goal line monster.

  32. Biggun Says:

I HATE when defenders throw shoulders into the knee areas of course it will hyper-extend… the defender should get fined… that could end a career!!! Hillis did look strong and I hope we keep him.

  33. Biggun Says:

Watching the Patriots/Eagles game and I have to give Blount props “LOVE that guy I really hate we got rid of him”….. I wish him well and from the looks of things he’ll be fine 2 td’s already … And Tebow good job too.

  34. ben Says:

    Blount 9 carries 96 yards 2 tds

  35. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

I liked Blount. Seems he’s doing well. Though I was working and could watch the game, I assume he was playing against third-stringers?

  36. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

    “Ccould NOT watch the game”

  37. ben Says:

He played in the first half

  38. 1976Buc Says:

Blount took a handoff on the second play of the game.

  39. Bucfever40 Says:

@B-87-I’m not saying you’re not a “real” Buc fan, but you sure seem quick to usher Hillis’ his pink slip (buh bye), sounds to me you feel it’s a done deal. I don’t care if you feel he has fumble issues, hell, Mike Alstott turned that stigma around in just one season, and Shiano seems to be a coach that stresses ball security, Martin only had one last year, and it was questionable after breaking the goal line (should’ve been a TD). I don’t even think Hillis fumbled after that low hit, the ground can’t cause a fumble, which is what happened. I think the coaches like his style, he has lot to prove and has the talent to do so, when Hillis is “on”, he is a treat to watch and a nightmare to tackle, a poor man’s A-Train I’ll take any day! Buc fan’s will ALWAYS appreciate a RB who strives to get extra yards. Will he make the team? Depends on how quick he comes back from the injury, but EVERY Buc fan should want him to make the team, which will give us mad depth at RB and prolong the career of our rookie sensation from a year ago…….Doug Martin!

PS-Don’t misinterpret the poor man’s A-Train comment, even at his best, he’s no where close to #40 and his 70+ td’s!

  40. Doc Says:

Mike James, was able to pick up the blitz’s that were coming on almost every play, that is what the coach’s were looking at. No one is talking about the special teams or the special team coach. A lot of the mistakes on the special teams were coaching mistakes. Special teams can make you or break your team.
