Warren Sapp’s Hall Of Fame Speech

August 4th, 2013

Here’s the video of Sapp’s induction speech, and the full audio is below, including his dramatic introduction produced by ESPN.

Sapp gives lots of thanks, and he omits several Bucs icons, as well. Sapp holds his emotions together until thanking his “rock,” his ex-wife, to close the speech.

Cris Carter and Parcells were the best speeches imo. Cris shouting out to his childhood friends, telling them to stand up to be recognized. That brought me out of my chair excited. Lynch and Brooks were in the crowd. He did make mention of them, but what if he would have said. John Lynch, Derrick Brooks stand up, because you 2 are future HOFers. Tony Dungy stand up. I mean LESS mention of the network crew he works with now. As if they helped put him in the hall or something? Really Sapp? Still my favorite Buc of all time though.

Another thing I took from Carter and Culp was how hard it is to get into the Hall. I mean Sapp was THAT great, getting in on the first go round says it all. He is my boy though, so I don’t fault him for his speech. Hell I’ll never fault him for anything that he says.

Saw on the Hall events calendar that Hall members come back today for an autograph session. Wonder how Sapp’s dealing with all of that.LOL

  2. Buc'n Junkie Says:

I thought Dave Robinson’s was funny. Bill Parcells was inspiring and full of big words he never used on the sideline. lol

  3. Walter Says:

I’m more interested in Brooks’ speech next year. 1st ballot for sure, as great as Sapp was, Brooks is the greatest Buccaneer.

  4. Stranger Says:

    @Buc1987

Can’t really criticize Sapp’s speech when he got so emotional his voice started to squeak. As he said, he could have been up there all day to thanking everyone.

  5. MadMax Says:

Sapp’s the Man! Congrats Big Nasty!

Btw, he did mention “everyone else” right at the end, so Im sure the fans were included in that statement 😉

  6. Buc1987 Says:

Stranger…YES your right. I was just thinking a minute or so ago. I think he’s going to save thanking the fans for when his number gets retired. I do hope they allow him to speak on that night. It should be special.

  7. Buc1987 Says:

Oh and he better come out of the tunnel doing the airplane dance too!

  8. Buc1987 Says:

@Walter to each his own man. I’m a Noles fan and Brooks is my 2nd favorite of all time. I think that D was so good that he will be at that podium next year. Alstott will get in sometime too, but it will take a good many years. That’s a speech, where the tears will be flowing.

Lee Roy Selmon was the first and greatest Buccaneer of all time. Mr. Derrick Brooks is a close second and I’ll be in Canton next year to watch both him and Tony Dungy get inducted in the Hall. But with all that said the big fella number 99 deserved the spotlight yesterday and I am proud to say he was our guy and one of the greatest players to ever put on a football uniform and most importantly delivered an identity and a championship to Tampa Bay.

  10. Buc1987 Says:

^^^I was never fortunate to see Lee Roy play.

  11. ryan Says:

great night as a Hurricanes and Bucs fan.

So nice to see as a fan of the Bucs the wave of players that I grew up watching make it to the pinnacle of the sport.

  12. joseph mamma Says:

Lee Roy was great but overall Brooks was greater.

  13. PRBucFan Says:

    I’ll admit it…

    I CRIED!!!! lol

  14. PRBucFan Says:

And he made mention of his Network crew cause they made a major impact on him during his transition and also during his financial crises.

They are mentors and family to him.

  15. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

First Date: 2 Chickens, a baked cake and a forty.

    That was funny.

I really enjoyed the Hall of Fame induction.

PRBucFan…anytime I watch highlights from that Super Bowl I cry. I can’t help it man. I could drop the DVD in right now and when they get to the Philly game and show Ronde making that pick for the dagger. I start to cry. So yes last night I too cried during the video part. I’ll admit it, I don’t care. If the Lions ever win a Super Bowl, I would expect the same from their fans as well.
