Nicks News Will Come Next Week

August 22nd, 2013

carl nicksBlistergate, the Carl Nicks saga, won’t really be updated until next week, Greg Schiano explained today at One Buc Palace.

Schiano reiterated that Nicks is taking medicine for his blister/foot infection and that medicine needs five to seven days to do its thing. Based on the current timeline, that means Schiano likely will reveal news on Nicks at his Monday news conference.

Joe assumes Nicks can ride a bike and stay fit, but that’s unclear. Nicks’ toe issues already were affecting his training.

Hopefully, if Nicks can recover quickly from his foot, then he’ll be able to get in game-ready shape, assuming his toe holds up.

he’ll probably break a nail or something around mid week next week.

    next man up!

  2. Andrew 1 Says:

    Blisterblunder lol

  3. Gus Numbers Says:

I’d say rest him….I think we’ll be ok for the first month or so without him. No rush. Let him come back when he is ready to play. @mr Sanchez the dude played through the injury last year before it became unbearable. You challenge his toughness but would never say it to his face……

  4. Solaire of Astora Says:

Can we please stop putting the word gate after everything it makes no sense

  5. Mr Sanchez Says:

    my bad gus

I didn’t realize he played through the season last year.

and unbearable is something only he would know.

the only thing we do know is they paid him a kings ransom, his rehab time is completely unacceptable and now he has something so monumental as a blister that’s keeping him off the field.

    tough guy indeed.

    Grammargate?

  7. Mulligan Says:

I hate to say it but if he can not stay healthy this year we may have tut ties and move on without him. Isn’t that why Dominick doesn’t give signing bonuses? Is it possible to to get the balance of his contract off of our slary cap?

  8. Mulligan Says:

So of the three signings last year only VJax has actually been a decent signing.

  9. tonytwocents Says:

@gus, I agree that we should give him a around a month too, but after that, put him in. If its hurts, make him snort a few lines of oxy – whatever it takes. The Bucs already paid him enough already to retire now, so we better get some of that money back through production.

He’s obviously on his last leg, no pun intended, and likely gone after this season. So we need to get as much as we can now.

BTW, If his toe affected the way he stood, causing that blister, why didnt he use a cane or crutch for support? I get the feeling he didn’t take rehabbing too seriously during the offseason.

  10. Gus Numbers Says:

@mr Sanchez (unless your 300+ pounds) its not like you or I getting a toe injury. That toe has a massive amount of force on it everyday. If the blister is from the way he is standing or walking because of his toe that would make sense. Keep in mind Nicks has miss a total of ZERO games this season. How about we let things play out before you go challenging his toughness or willingness to play

  11. Mr Sanchez Says:

hell I get the feeling he is intentionally trying not to play.

how else do you not heal in that time frame.

how else does a blister get infected with a team doctor 24/7.

how else does he wear shoes that don’t fit to cause the blister.

how else etc how els etc.

They need to talk to their peeps and see what needs to be done to void his contract!

  12. d-money Says:

If Joe is right and this is a staff infection then football should be the last thing on this guys mind.

Not having his foot amputated, I would think, would be his top priority.

  13. Mr Sanchez Says:

because gus if we just had the wait and see approach until the season starts with all the players this would be like the a HS football team.

hell they could ALL say they have a tummy ache.

he’s on the team, and therefore gets not preferential treatment.

fact is he would be gone by now if not for the huge signing, for which he has played what 4 games??

c’mon man. the only consistency is him consistently not being ready to play.

  14. d-money Says:

Joe, i had no idea that your website comment section was only open to medical, and sports injury rehab professionals.

It’s funny you would think that the Bucs would have someone like this on staff?

  15. Mr Sanchez Says:

if it was that serious he would be in a hospital bed with an IV……not “taking his medicine”

  16. Stephen Says:

So much for no update for a week. Mort just reported that one buc confirmed its MRSA. Not good

  17. Christopher Says:

Why are we not addressing the serious staph problem going on at One Buc?!?

  18. BucoBruce Says:

NICKS OUT INDEFENYLY.You heard it here first. He has the worst kind of staph infection you can get.it starts with an m.mesa I think.Glazers cleared ut one buc to make sure no one else gets it.

  19. Gus Numbers Says:

@mr Sanchez the man has MRSA you still think he is a “tough guy”
