Bucs-Skins Blacked Out; Will Air Friday P.M.

August 27th, 2013

As expected the Bucs-Redskins preseason finale will not be seen live across the Tampa Bay area, except by those in the seats on the stadium on Dale Mabry Highway.

The Bucs will not sell 85 percent of non-premium seats to prevent an NFL blackout by this evening. Feel free to buy a ticket at the box office or online. They’re running pretty cheap via the secondary market.

Joe has learned that WFLA-TV Channel 8 will broadcast the game on tape delay Friday at 7:30 p.m.

After watching the first 3 preseason games, they are doing the tampa bay area a favor by blacking out the game.

  2. Tampamac Says:

Realist, the Bucs can go 19-0 and you’d still complain how they didn’t make the point spread every game…

I don’t blame the fans for preseason blackouts.. Other than season ticket holders who are force to buy preseason games too, who the hell is gonna pay regular season prices to see guys scraping to make the roster?

  3. Buc1987 Says:

I’ll take 83% sold out and winning lots of games all season long. Just so the negative fans get to miss out on the great season that is about to take place.

I was not going to go this game. My wife and mother were supposed to go. Now it seems my wife can’t go because she is having surgery that day. So it looks like I’m stuck going to another preseason game with mom. Only this time 95% of the starters won’t play a down.

  4. Bucnjim Says:

I normally give away the preseason tickets to families who can’t afford to go or don’t get to regular season games. People who appreciate going to the game.

Atleast some negative bandwagon fans might be able to see the Eagles game again. When their fans take up 50% of the seating at RJS. It’s real fun going to those games. (sarcasm) Nothing like having Buc fans yell Taaaaaampa on one side of the field and hearing Eagles fans yell suuuucks on the other side. The Bucs have to got have one of the worst fan bases in the league. That theory was proven to me last season when the 4-9 Eagles came to town and their fans came out in droves to see them play. Those are the same Eagle fans that live in the Tampa area. The ones that were dealing with the “bad economy” excuse just like the bandwagon buc fans use for not going. The bad economy did not stop them from taking over RJS, and lifting the blackout.

I heard Eagle fans travel well?

  7. Eric Says:

Used to sell out every game with a waiting list till the Glazers ruined the team.

Got absolutely no one to blame but themselves.

  8. Buc1987 Says:

Eric…yah Culverhouse really packed the house in the 80’s too. (sarcasm) If the Glazers didn’t buy the team. The Bucs would have never won a Super Bowl. The point is the Eagles could have been 2-10 at the time and their fans would still have showed up. That’s the difference in the fan base.

  9. Back up kicker Says:

    I purchased 2 ticket, section 311 row T, $13 each. Go Bucs!

Would that be the same Glazers that actually built a Super Bowl winner here, hiring Father Dungy and Chucky? 🙂

    I won’t provide links…

But the NFL Season Ticket shows all football games free to anyone who lives in the Netherlands. I don’t live in the Netherlands, but I can make my IP “look” like I do…

    (Hint Hint)

    🙂

  12. Dave Says:

Bucs suck, move the team somewhere else… No one cares here

  13. Buc Fan #238 Says:

Thanks to the blackouts, I have no need to watch live TV anymore.

I just canceled my cable. I just signued up for AT&T Unverse and will only pay for the internet package.

I will keep Netflix and then decide if I want Amazon Prime to Hulu.

The blackouts just saved me a boatload of money being wasted on cable.

Thanks NFL and Buccaneer Org. 🙂

How do you get your bill to look like you live in the Netherlands as well?

Rays got a day game, might make it to RayJay afterwards. But for what? To see our future starting QB Glennon get some more playing time. Might be worth the drive from the Trop after the Rays-Angels game.

  15. Eric Says:

    @joe,

Yep thats them. The same ones that fired those two guys to open up the opportunity for the Raheem Morris era, and the current dude from Rutgers.

    🙂

  16. MadMax Says:

Well, they’re not blacked out in my area, so I could see it online…but I’ll be watching my Gamecocks….then I’ll go back and rewatch this one. Bucs twitter says Glennon will probably start and get a lot of playing time.

  17. MadMax Says:

doh, I mean watch the “replay” of this one.
