Warren Sapp Talks Bucs Pass Rush
July 26th, 2013Man, yesterday was a zoo at One Buc Palace. People were in a good mood as it was the first day of practice for training camp and it marked the start of football season. Yes, there is a God.
Celebrities were in the house, including Bryan Glazer, Shaun King, Prickly Pete Prisco of CBS Sports, and of course NFL Network was broadcasting live with no less than former Bucs great Warren Sapp holding court, basking in being back at a Bucs training camp for the first time in probably years.
After a long day of taping interviews, Sapp, just days from being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, talked with the assembled scribes still there and WDAE-AM 620 Bucs beat writer Tom Krasniqi jotted down some of Sapp’s thoughts on the Bucs’ defensive line.
“I want to see this [defensive] front come [step up],” Sapp said. “I’m issuing a challenge to Da’Quan Bowers. Last time I checked, if you wore pewter and red, you hunted the quarterback here.” On any possible concern regarding Gerald McCoy’s weight loss, Sapp remarked, “Looks can be deceiving. Trust me, he’s just getting himself in great shape.”

We should just buy out Sapp’s NFLN’s contract, put him on the sideline and let him snarl.

If Sapp is anything, he is certainly outspoken. Sometimes over the top and sometimes off the mark. But that’s the Warren we’ve all come to know and love.
Not only did he challenge Bowers to step it up, he also said that Vincent Jackson needs to play like the top WR in the league because he’s being paid like it!
If he thinks it, he will say it! lol

Everything must be spinning in Warren’s world (or brain) right now, fellas. Remember, he was just selected as a first ballot Hall of Fame inductee. So of course he wants to talk about himself and the past. With this being his crowning achievement, Warren being Warren, and because of his own excitement, won’t let anyone forget it. Warren has always enjoyed center stage, and rightfully so this time.

Yes Buc’n Junkie..but he will have plenty of time in the spotlight in 9 days. I can’t wait for that speech when he puts on the yellow jacket. Look how his eyes welled up with tears when he found out his number was being retired. I expect lots of tears to be flowing from him when he’s at that podium. This guy meant soooo much to this org and me. I hope I don’t get too emotional while listening to him, but that’s what football does to me. Lots of people don’t like his mouth running, but I do. His mouth is what put our team on the NFL map, and made people stand up an recognize. I expect a long running speech, and it’s going to be tough getting him away from that podium. Can’t wait.
