Ticket Sales Evoke “Glory Years” Reference
July 16th, 2013If you believe fans speak with their dollars, then things are looking up in a big way for the Bucs.
Tampa Tribune scribe eye-RAH! Kaufman has penned a piece that celebrates encouraging ticket sales data out of One Buc Palace, specifically from Bucs Chief Operating Officer Brian Ford.
“Our (season ticket) renewal rate is equal to the glory years, back in the day, so it’s not like we’re digging out of a hole,” Ford said Monday. “It helps we’ve got the best home schedule. Two prime-time games, one on a Monday night against Miami when Warren Sapp goes into our Ring of Honor, and a Thursday night game against a division rival (Carolina).”
According to the Bucs, overall ticket sales have increased by more than 60 percent from this point in 2012.
Joe can’t say he’s surprised. Preseason fan interest and excitement in the Buccaneers is at a level Joe hasn’t seen in many years. You can sort of just feel it in the air.
The New Schiano Order, along with Darrelle Revis and Doug Martin, have ignited a lot of hope and buzz. Joe’s traffic on these here pages also continues to explode, which could be reflective of that interest — or fans’ boredom with traditional media options continues to grow.
Regardless, the early ticket-sales news bodes well for cutting TV blackouts. Last year’s home game against the Saints busted the blackout threshold and got the game televised locally. It’s hard to imagine that won’t happen against the Saints for the home-opener on Sept. 15. If so, that would be the first locally televised home-opener since 2009.

Joe,
Do you know if the team committed to the 85% mark again this year? I was unsure when the deadline is.
July 16th, 2013 at 11:12 am
That’s some exciting news!!

Your welcome TV watchers. I’ve bought my first season tickets ever. Thank the Glazers too for opening up their checkbook, because that’s what made me open mine. Go Bucs were almost here, I can see light at the end of the tunnel.

Asses in the seats….bucks in the registrers…..Bucs with QB crosshairs in their sights……how sweet it is!!!

Things are looking better and better this season.

I am very excited this year. I expect improvement over last year. And if things fall the Bucs way, they have a real shot for 3rd place in this division. And that is an improvement
July 16th, 2013 at 12:14 pm
Especially if the Bucs give the Jets a beat down week 1.
July 16th, 2013 at 12:29 pm
@the_buc_realist
Really? 3rd place? That’s what you are hoping for?

@the_bucs_realist

Got my season tickets!!! Come on my fellow Buc fanatics lets sell these home games out so the casual couch potatoe fans can watch this exciting team.

@Walter…and failure is what he expects and wants. Of course he’s a “realist” though. The name alone explains his pesimism. I bet that’s how he goes through life anyways.

Don’t let the media run with that, they will find a way to thwart fans from getting excited somehow, someway. We can’t take away their constant drumbeat of telling us we are the worst fans and team in football. For God’s sake now they’ll have to invent something.
Outside mainstream America, they do not feel the buzz going on around Tampa Bay. With our neighbors, in our offices, at the gym, the buzz about Buc football. Fans are getting excited, although many are severely sceptical, they are finally coming on board. I have 6 friends that I know personally who will be attending games.
For awhile they felt disenfranchised and cheated but now they see the recommitment to win and they want to be involved again and a part of the new “UPRISING”.

Well, everyone who is excited about the Bucs, needs to go see them now! The reason is that the way that the pop-star GM has built this team. The window for winning will be very short. At the end of the season VJ will be 31. that does not leave alot of time to play at an elite status. And with all the high price free agents to make this team competitive again, they will soon hit a salary wall. See them now before the windows shuts and they start another rebuild!

“At the end of the season VJ will be 31. that does not leave alot of time to play at an elite status. ”
VJ’s talents will drop off when they do, to assume they will , is to be your normal , pessimistic, Debbie downer, false realist self.Go away

@The_Bucs_Realist I don’t see how you can really be a fan. You spend your entire time on these post going “yeah but they will suck”. I have a feeling whenever they win the super bowl apart of you will be mad because your wrong. How can you consider yourself a fan when all of your post have to do with the bucs failing. Your not looking forward at all. Your saying our cap is going to suck when the bucs have been cap wizards for the past decade.

Here’s a perfect example how the media does there best to make the Bucs look like chumps. From BSPN
“The Bucs gave up the No. 13 overall pick in the Darrelle Revis deal. Eifert ended up going 21st overall to the Bengals. It’s a reminder that although Luke Stocker and Tom Crabtree are penned in on top of the depth chart, the Bucs know that duo isn’t good enough. We wouldn’t expect either one to be a major part of the passing game.”
Oh! so now they know what the Bucs are thinking? BS
These guys haven’t even taken the field in camp yet and we still have to see if Sully has more to unveil in his offense. To see if they plan on using the TE more often this season. They may have more designed plays to use Crab Stock more often. For BSPN to make a definitive statement like that this early is misleading.

My season tickets are like gold to me. I bought a couple extra tickets yesterday for my brother to the Eggles game. He’s a Phili boy and I needed him close to me for that game so we can fight when the Eggles lose by 30pts. I believe regular tickets go on sale tomorrow. Need to snatch them up before the Saints fans invade week 1. I’d like to see those hoochie mama Saints women sit in the parking lot this year.
July 16th, 2013 at 4:08 pm
Fans are excited because the Bucs are going to be good with or without Freeman.
July 16th, 2013 at 5:28 pm
this is great news and all….. but I wonder if the Glazers started putting a clause in all new contracts, saying the players are obligated to buy up a few hundred tickets per game. give it to charity, family members, wives, mistresses…

@BigMac…I went to last yrs Eaglets game. My wife nearly got me punched in the face. I have never ran into more sh*t talking fans in my life. Even though we lost in the end. I swore up and down I would never go to another game against the Eaglets. Guess I’m stuck now since I have the season tix.
Oh the wife story : after halftime we went back to our nose bleed seats after enduring all game long the trash talking. They started up again even before they kicked off. One of said to us “how do you like the game so far?” My wife answered with “it would be a great game if we were’nt sitting with you a**holes behind us”. One of them said “excuse me”. I tried to smooth things over with ” it’s all good man, it’s all part of the game, she did’nt mean anything by it.” He said “we just don’t like being called a-holes is all, so watch your mouth.” Of course my feisty wife still could NOT do that and says to them. “well then don’t act like one then.” All one of them said was “keep talking”. I quietly told her to stop and watch the game. It was a blessing that they had to leave in the 3rd qtr. I heard one of them say they wish they could stay and watch the whole game for when we lose as they were walking down.

1987: That Eagles game was a tough one. As I recall, our QB put us ahead with the game nearly over when our secondary allowed a rookie QB to go right down the field. To some, Josh Freeman was the culprit.
