Tiki Lashes Out At Warren Sapp
June 25th, 2013Now this is starting to get good.
Intern-scoping Tiki Barber, former Giants disgruntled running back and fallen media mogul, who is also the twin brother of Bucs icon Ronde Barber, has had just about enough of Warren Sapp mocking Barber’s former teammate, Michael Strahan.
Last week, Sapp, just weeks away from being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, resumed his war of words with Strahan, belittling the former Giants hero claiming Strahan couldn’t hold Simeon Rice’s jock.
Barber, in turn, isn’t going to take it anymore and came out swinging at Sapp, reports Paul Schwartz of the New York Post.
“Warren’s an idiot,” Barber said on Monday while attending the Big Daddy Celebrity Golf Classic at Oheka Castle in Huntington. “He just wants to say things to be idiotic. I played with Stray for my whole career. He is the greatest of the great. He is a great teammate, he kept things light, but on game day he was as serious as a heart attack and it showed in his play.
“Warren doesn’t know, never played with him,” Barber said. “I don’t put any credence in his opinion.”
No, Sapp never played with Strahan, but Tiki never played with Rice either. Rice may not be better than Strahan, but Joe doesn’t think Rice’s NFL work should be trivialized.
If anything, Rice’s body of work is rather underplayed.
Joe wonders what Chucky thinks of this?

Hate to say it, but Tiki is right on the mark here.
June 25th, 2013 at 8:19 am
LOL go Tiki go. Sapp is a bit too small minded and big mouthed. Rice may have been better for a certain time span, but Strahan had the tenure and consistency.
June 25th, 2013 at 8:26 am
Yeah, as much as I’m conflicted with delusional homerism, I also think Strahan’s body of work (HOF resume) is a bit more productive than Simeon Rice. Not that Rice doesn’t deserve to be enshrined, just not ahead of Strahan.
June 25th, 2013 at 8:51 am
Just because he’s a beloved Buccaneer and HOFer doesn’t mean we can’t acknowledge that Sapp’s a loudmouthed idiot sometimes.
June 25th, 2013 at 9:06 am
Strahan is a Hall of Famer, Rice isn’t talked about because of how he fell off the grid. It was so sudden, multiple double digit sack seasons in a row, one injury, then poof, he was gone, never played another snap in the NFL as far as I know. If he did, I never knew about it. I know he played in the UFL for a little while.
June 25th, 2013 at 9:08 am
Well , we know at least one thing:
That Strahan’s body of NFL work doesn’t hold a jock to Warren Sapp’s; the HOF voters proved that.
Which means that Strahan can’t be
“The greatest of the great.”
But was Simeon Rice better than Strahan, we will probably never know, but the Buc’s Super Bowl team was one of the greatest defenses of all time. The giants won that Super Bowl with a miracle play; the Bucs destroyed the Raiders. I will take the Buc’s victory.
June 25th, 2013 at 9:09 am
there was no one like Rice coming off he corner on 3rd down or a big play. You could almost bank on him getting to the QB and most times putting him down. dude was money in the clutch!
June 25th, 2013 at 9:29 am
I wonder what Shaun thinks.
“Shaun King, one of two Buc Quarterbacks that lost a NFC Championship Game when his defense gave up 11 or fewer points.”
June 25th, 2013 at 9:51 am
Tampabaybufan no one cares what the “round mound of buffets” thinks. But great job stirring the pot first thing in the morning. Nothing inspires triple digit comments faster than a king reference.
Sapp is an idiot that being said, he is our idiot. I’d take rice over Strahan any day. Rice was freaky athletic and much more entertaining which is not relevant but my choice.
Also don’t forget the extra media attention / hype new york based players receive.
June 25th, 2013 at 9:53 am
Just Tiki trying to get back in good graces with NYG fans.

“Intern-scoping Tiki Barber, former Giants disgruntled running back and fallen media mogul”
Where are the colorful words to describe Sapp – such as bankrupt, 5 baby mamas and disgraceful Judge Wapner wannabe.

Who cares what Tiki has to say.LOL Big surprise he defended an old team mate (Like Sapp’s trying to do).Funny that Tiki (or anybody) thinks Sapp’s an idiot for saying Simeon was better Than Strahan (which is true, look at the facts people) when every other show on NFL Network is about top 100 (active) players and how they rank from 100-1.In the offseason There is list on EVERY NFL show of some type of ranking of players or coach’s.Sapp’s just saying Simeon is better than Strahan and should atleast get the same credit that Strahan gets. Simeon had double digit Sacks in 8 out of 10 seasons (last 2 seasons not included because he was hurt & only played 8 gms each yr hurt) playing against LT while Strahan had 6 double digit sacks in 6 out of 15 years playing against less talented RT.Both have 1 SB win.
June 25th, 2013 at 10:41 am
If Strahan is Soooooo great why couldn’t he play against the LT’s ? Because he couldn’t produce against better Tackles.Pretty simple!
June 25th, 2013 at 10:51 am
Best season vs. best season, I would take Rice, I would need to watch a lot of film to make a judgement past one season. Regarding Sapp and Barber and their contribution to football, Sapp is light years ahead of Barber. Is he the best of all time, do not know but, he is up there.
I do understand Tiki’s position of standing up for a teammate. Other than that its all demagoguery.
June 25th, 2013 at 10:56 am
@Yeah It’s me: You do realize that features like burst out of the stance vary from left side to the right depending on strengths and weaknesses or every player right? I am sure Jared Allen would hate to rush from the left side and DeMarcus Ware from right even if they were facing worse tackles.
June 25th, 2013 at 11:02 am
Jonny 2.3,
I agree. Everyone makes an issue of right versus left. If a D-Linemen could rush the passer equally as well whether lined up on the right or left side of the line, isn’t it logical to put them up against the weaker offensive lineman?
June 25th, 2013 at 11:17 am
@lightningBuc
You put your best rusher on the QBs blind side. The QB doesn’t see him and therefore gets a better sack and opportunity for fumble.
Of course, this was traditional thinking and there are rushers who excel at both sides depending on the situation.
June 25th, 2013 at 11:19 am
rice was da man, thats the way you take up for your teammate sapp, buc fans should be with sapp on this one,is a lot haters on this site taken up for a giants player , go bucs.
June 25th, 2013 at 11:33 am
Sapp was out of line and did come across like an idiot. There’s a way of praising Rice without tearing down Strahan and obviously Sapp didn’t take that route.
I have no problem with Tiki’s response…and no, Im not a Tiki fan.
June 25th, 2013 at 11:38 am
@tmaxcon
I just can’t help myself when it comes to Shaun King….any chance I get to counter Joe’s accolades of King’s Buc accomplishments, I take it.
“Shaun King, one of two Buc Quarterbacks that lost a NFC Championship Game when his defense gave up 11 or fewer points.”

This from a man who said Eli would never win a superbowl because he was not mentally tough and ironically Eli won the superbowl that very same year. This just in, Eli has two rings and Tiki has zero. There goes to show you how valid Tiki’s opinions are. He played with a multiple superbowl QB and did not recognize it. Excuse me if I don’t believe he knows what the “greatest of the greats” look like.
June 25th, 2013 at 12:31 pm
Hasn’t Tiki got a wife he could be cheating on?
June 25th, 2013 at 4:17 pm
@hamilton: I am sorry, I a fan of football first, Bucs fan next.
June 25th, 2013 at 5:48 pm
Jonny 2.3 Your a Football Fan first? Than the Bucs? Nice….
June 25th, 2013 at 5:52 pm
If LT is the same as RT than why do most teams (like the Bucs) Have a high paid LT who is a Pro Bowler and haven’t worried about spending big money on a RT? I don’t remember very many RT getting drafted high in the first Rd of many drafts. Come on people! You got to be kidding me!
