Darrelle Revis Says He’s The Boy Wonder
June 21st, 2013In the mythical Buccaneers world of Batman, it’s clear to Joe that Greg Schiano is Commisioner Gordon, Bill Sheridan is Chief O’Hara, Dashon Goldson is Batman, Darrelle Revis is Robin, and Rachel Watson is Catwoman.
The roles weren’t all clear to Joe until yesterday, when Revis himself declared he’s the Boy Wonder. At his football camp in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, Revis told his hometown newspaper that Dashon Goldson and he are the NFL’s Dynamic Duo.
“He is the best safety in the league, as of today. And I’m saying that boldly,” Revis said, a wide smile on his face. “No knock on Troy (Polamalu) and all of those guys, but he’s the best, and he’s only in his eighth year, which is awesome. He’s Batman. I’m Robin.”
Joe loves the big talk from Revis. It’s fun, and his teammates and fans are listening. Joe hopes Revis is chatty with media during the season. He was known for that in New York, and hopefully he’ll step forward as a voice of the team in Tampa.
Joe can’t wait to see the real tough-guy swagger Goldson and Revis bring to the Bucs defense. It’s been missing since the glory days of the franchise, and Joe suspects a lot of fans have forgotten what a fearsome secondary and veteran, All-Pro talent look like back there and the impact they deliver.
As for the rest of the Batman characters, well, Joe thought he might cast rockstar general manager Mark Dominik as Bruce Wayne, but Joe didn’t want to get the serial Dominik bashers all worked up on the first day of summer.

i know this is off topic Joe but i was doing a little looking back at the bucs history under Dungy vs. Gruden and came across this stat that i didn’t realize…
In 6 seasons under Dungy the bucs avg. 18.72 pt/g and in ’00 388 pt. highest per season during his time and ’96 221 pt. lowest during his time.
In the first 6 seasons under Grucen the bucs avg. 18.68 pt/g and in ’07 334 pt. higherst during his time and in ’06 211 pts. lowest during his time.
I know we won the Super Bowl in ’02 under Gruden but who’s to say we still wouldn’t have with Dungy. In ’02 we scored 346 pts and 35 of those were off of Def TD’s from Monty’s Def which was formed under Dungy. Just wanted to throw out the Dungy vs. Gruden debate. Always a good conversation.

Not cool to go so far off topic, dude.
I’d say Dominik is Chief O’Hara. Absolutely!!

Julie Newmar was the best Catwoman. She grew more wood than Sherwood Forrest.

How about Myron for “The Joker”?
June 21st, 2013 at 8:33 am
Hey Vic, you’ll work it out.. still talking bucs football..

As much as I love the addition of Dashon Goldson and our “NO FLY ZONE” monicker. I’m gonna save the Batman analogy for one of favorite Buco’s of all-time; Richard “Batman” Wood.

The Glazers should be Bruce Wayne, cause they finance the operation. And Dominik is Lucius Fox, cause he provides Batman (Schiano), with all his toys. And Butch Davis is Alfred, because he’s always by Batmans side yet always out of the picture. Goldson should be the BatWing, and Revis is every other weapon and instrument that Batman has. Banks is Robin.. Barron is Flash. McCoy is the Green Lantern. And the Defense as a whole is the Justice League. (The Offense are Marvel characters, so thats another story.) But yeah, Rachel Watson, is def CatWoman.

oh yeah… Shaun King = The Joker…..with a penguin build.

June 21st, 2013 at 9:44 am
Hugh Culverhouse would have been the Penguin
June 21st, 2013 at 9:44 am
Darren Sproles as Penguin. Mike Smith as Egghead.

Good article, but bad anology, Joe. It is good to hear that since the Pop-star could not draft leaders that they are purchasing them. Hopefully this will lead to better results than the past 4 years.
June 21st, 2013 at 9:48 am
Damn to bad we don’t have Ronde, he’d be Alfred
June 21st, 2013 at 9:57 am
Robin needs to re-check the Batcomputer, because this will Goldson’s seventh, not eighth, year in the league.

I just have to know! some people are just part-time haters, but you get ur hate on, starting at 8,9am all day every damn day! what did Dom do???? we’re u best friends at one point, until you came out of the closet to him, and he told all your friends and family?? spit it out man!

Some of you guys are taking this a bit too seriously. Fun article Joe.
June 21st, 2013 at 10:36 am
Im gonna have to change my take. If Goldson is Batman, Revis would be be the Green Lantern, cause at $1mil/game, with all that green, he prob shh hits one dollar bills.
June 21st, 2013 at 10:57 am
SOMEONE NEEDS TO TELL REVIS………..THERES ONLY 1 BATMAN IN TAMPABAY.AND THATS RICHARD BATMAN WOOD……………IMO.THE BEST

June 21st, 2013 at 11:33 am
They were talking hardest hitting safeties on nfl network yesterday evening and Goldson was picked as #3. Bernard Pollard was picked #1. Regardless, Im glad we picked him up. Between him and Barron, theres going to be some nice highlight hits this year!

Guys Bruce Wayne and Batman are the same guy you can’t have two separate people be them unless of course your talking about the flashpoint timeline where Thomas Wayne is Batman and Bruce Wayne is dead or you could be talking about after Bane broke his back but Azraels an asshole so that’s not really a complement you know what nevermind forget I said anything I started rambling
June 21st, 2013 at 1:15 pm
I’ve always wondered why the Dynamic Duo didn’t just take the stairs.
June 22nd, 2013 at 5:38 am
Psst Joe…
Bruce Wayne is Batman…

Unbelievable, the level of arrogance (or is it just an extremely severe case of attention deficit disorder) for JoshP to read an article about Revis and his appraisal of the new face he and Goldson will put on the Bucs which was pretty cool and kinda fun – and then JoshP turns around and instead of commenting on that, he, with the very 1st comment attempts to hijack the topic and derail it into a subject his ego feels is much more deserving of discussion than the one “Joe” had just highlighted in his column, namely: instead of discussing Revis, Goldson and the new face of the Bucs with what’s happening now, Josh P determined that what we really should be focusing on and talking about are the things that are over ten years old, such as the big, heated debate where JoshP still seems to want to push the notion that Dungy, despite having just lost two consecutive blow-out, 1st round losses to Philly will somehow find that a 3rd straight match-up with them would magically be charmed for him as he would luck his way past them and onward to a Superbowl victory. “Always a good conversation,” says he. Redundant and unpersuasive, says I, when you consider that John Maddon had it totally right when he once said that when you think of the Dungy-inspired Bucs’ offense you thought, “Nine points,” and the only reason Dungy EVER won a Superbowl was that he went to Indy, where he was ordered to tweak a little more out of their defense, but to keep his hands off the outstanding offense already in place and just let Tom Moore and Peyton Manning run it. Another try @ Tampa would have just resulted in another futile “nine points” for our Dungy-challenged offense and another blowout loss – it took Gruden coming in and completely revamping our offense, in personnel and in scheme, to go with our defense and get us over that hump.
Then when Vic chided JoshP in the very next (2nd) post: “Not cool to go so far off topic, dude,” JoshP smugly and selfishly retorts, “Hey Vic, you’ll work it out.. still talking bucs football..” – showing JoshP refuses to get it and is so into himself and his own dominating agenda that in all honestly, he shows obsessive compulsion to the point that he’s telling others that they have to “work it out” so they can get on HIS train, when what he really needs to do is start his own website so he can lay down and dictate any agenda he wants and then he can totally control the flow of things. If he’s too lazy to do that and find out just how many (or how few) would be willing to follow him over there, then he should control his narcissistic urges to redirect the subject of discussion in another person’s column, “work it out” and go with the flow himself.

did i hurt willie’s feelings???? not sure i’ve made someone cry like that before.. i would say you wasted valueble time writing that complaint but you probably don’t have anything esle going for you.. Atleast Vic made his point in about 8-9 words.. You wrote a short story for crying out loud.. And the fact that you think Gruden revamped our offense makes you even more of a douche… Gruden’s off was trash..we scored 9 Def TD that year, more than we ever scored under Dungy in a season.. Oh and thanks for acknowledging my post… Everyone else just ignored it..
